This year, I had planned to visit @fixationbrewing Incubator in May. Obviously those plans were stifled due to COVID so it was great to see three of the incubator series arrive at @thewheaty. The NZ West Coast IPA was my pick of the three, displaying great balance and perfect bitterness. The red IPA has a dark red hue and decent malt structure which I prefer in a red. I am still working on the oat cream IPAs, not 100% my thing. FIXATION @fixationbrewing ... a brewery that is dedicated to perfecting and brewing only IPAs… have just released a very limited 500ml release of THE FIX - DOUBLE IPA and it is an absolute stunning hop-heads heaven! Seriously... from the first sip… (apart from being totally punched in the face with a fist full of hops)… you will be amazed at just how fresh this tastes… and there is just so much clarity and clearness to this beer… and when folks talk about how hops have pine and fruity aromas and flavours, well this beer displays all of that in such a crystal clear manner… this beer is like the equivalent of listening to your favourite album with headphones on… everything just seems so fresh and defined and really pin-points those pine notes. THE FIX is a total hop-heads delight… there is a big bang of hops in here… with a very light use of malts… making this quite dry and light... combined up with a big amount of alcohol. This beer is all about total clean and incredibly fresh flavours… and definitely pour this into a glass as the clearness of this beer is also amazing. Fixation IPA 6.4% Really floral hop profile. Not nearly as big as I expected from the description but it's a nice balance that I could drink a few of 8/10 @fixationbrewing (at Bankstown, New South Wales)

My beer of choice for the AFL GF is @fixationbrewing ‘The 86’ IPA. The first beer in their Freshly Hatched range, which gives a nod to the 86 tram that goes past their home in Collingwood. A hazy IPA that uses Simcoe, Galaxy and Mosaic. Straight up hop juice. Light and balanced, with just a hint of bitterness. The Modus uses a Kveik style yeast, the Fixation a New England yeast and the Wheaty a London Fog yeast. They are all very juicy and different. Do I have a favourite? Nope. @fixationbrewing are fixated on IPAs and for good reason. The Fix is their IIPA and it is now in 500ml cans. Huge grapefruit and stone fruit flavours balanced nicely with a sticky sweetish malt bill.
