Pancha Rathas, Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu. The Pancha Rathas (also known as Five Rathas or Pandava Rathas) is a monument complex at Mahabalipuram, on the Bay of Bengal in Tamil Nadu. Believed to have been constructed during the reign of Narasimhavarman II (c. 690–725 CE), each of the five monuments in the complex resembles a chariot (ratha), and each is carved over a single long stone or monolith of granite lying on the sand dunes.
