HEY so I skim read your new Keefe hate post and I have some thoughts I'd like to share (all good ones!!)

As someone who also wrote a very long essay about [a] fictional character(s) while citing the page number and book word by word, you freaking ACED it. I'm always gonna be impressed when people take the time to cite your source and give a in depth explanation about it

You're lowkey not too wrong about Keefe infantilizing Sophie. For something silly and stupid, like "Iggy ate my mallowmelt!! >:( Now im mad!!" yeah I bet Sophie would seem cute lol. But for when she's genuinely angry and pissed?? Maybe lay off a little bit dude 😭 Like cmon she can murder you with her mind- There are moments where he does talk about how powerful she is though, throughout the series, but tbh as much as he does that he probably inhantilize her too *shrug* I need to reread the series, but you are making some sense.

Anyways as someone who loves Keefe you're making valid points. He has his flaws, and sometimes he isn't the best person. In summary

okay, first of all, i need this essay immediately. i literally do not care what it's about but words! lots of words! about kotlc! need.

ooh, thank you so much! i mentioned this in the post itself, but this is a rework. the quotes were originally in one post (copy-pasted from another post) and the explanation was in a reblog, which was hella annoying, so i condensed them. i suppose it does make much more sense now. and my explanation is based in the fact that i don't think people were understanding why this isn't a good thing to be saying, period, when i posted it for the first time. even without context.

yeah, keefe displays a consistent attitude of "sophie is so adorable and small and cute and ditzy and soft". seriously, if you don't believe me, read his perspective in unlocked (or don't, because i'm going to do it for you in my part two keefe rant). it's why i don't buy his accepting sophie as a leader in stellarlune (done in a very, very tell-not-show way, may i add), unless he went through some serious development in unraveled. i may have to dedicate a whole post to that topic . . . anyway, yeah, him calling her powerful and talented feels very, very, very tell-not-show, and when you look at his internal thoughts in unlocked, it portrays her very differently. i'm not a fact of the way he sees her, truly. it feels very dumbed down and uwu-ified. no quotes from unlocked have been put into the post, so i'll have to update it later, but if i included unlocked quotes, this post would be like sixteen times its length. but yeah, you should reread the series before you come to a serious opinion. i'm obviously incredibly biased.

Congrats on the promotion!

My personal take (if you're looking for a discussion) on this is that Luke was asked to do waayyy too much last year. He should have been a third pairing D with veteran presence around him to mentor him. Instead he was thrown to the wolves in his first year of professional hockey.

Unlike the other anon I don't believe the AHL would have done him any good (He didn't really skip it anyway, he just went a different route). He would have just done what's he's always done and skated his way out of trouble against lesser skaters.

I do think a little more accountability would have been good (the occasional benching for a few shifts might have been positive). However, Fitz has mentioned that accountability looks different for different players so maybe that's something to do with it. Maybe they wanted to show confidence in him and let him play through his mistakes, maybe he responded better behind the scenes etc.

I think this year will be different, I think (hope) we'll see a big improvement in his defense (which, to be fair, on a shift-by-shift basis wasn't bad at all, he just had a lot of blunders). He will hopefully be sheltered more and last years experience will have shown him what he needs to improve (he's already bulked up massively by the looks of the pictures so hopefully he won't get thrown around as much)

i think you’re right. i think there was too much put on him for where he’s at in his career, and i really think it’s because (nobody get mad at me for this, it’s my opinion) expectations were too high. i am NOT saying luke is a flop, or a waste of money, anything like that, i just think he was expected to immediately be the best of the best in the league, and that wasn’t the case. i also agree - he should’ve been on a lower D-line with a vet. the team did kind of try that with him and marino, but i don’t think john was the right person for him to be paired with.

i also don’t agree that the AHL would’ve done anything good, but i do know why that anon said he should’ve been put there. he has made mistakes that come across as him not being nhl-ready (speaking broadly. luke girls you scare the shit out of me please this is JUST AN OPINION) and like he wasn’t trained enough for the kind of team and competitive league and division he’s in. benching him would have been great. (sorry) i think benching him would’ve been a smart choice, but with lindy and greene, it wouldn’t have been a beneficial benching. if we had the kind of coaching staff that benched him, and talked him through okay, watch how jonas does this or pay attention to the way marino clears out the puck when we’re on the pk, and gave him constructive advice and had him quite literally watch and learn, that would’ve been great for luke. instead, lindy and greene would just bench someone and then pretend they weren’t sitting there.

hopefully sheldon keefe has some good plans for our D this year. i think he does, and i know nico, jack, and timo are very eager to sit down with him and talk about this upcoming season. plus, i think after the way last season ended (with the guys being loudly booed off of the ice at the end of each period), fitz and upper management will be eager to make sure this shit gets turned around, and we have a great season!

and with that being said,

devils hockey will be ruining our lives again in 12 days, and then when we open up in prague on the 4th. let’s get hurt again! 😁😭

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season Two

While watching season two, I took some notes of my thoughts. I only started on S02 E09 so before that there isn't too much.

Sorry, this is going to be mostly Fitzsimmons but you can't really blame me, because it's THEM

But first, two last things for season one "I couldn't live if you didn’t" "Well, I feel the same way. There has to be another way." "You're taking it" "Why would you make me do this? You're my best friend in the world!" "Yeah, you're more than that, Jemma" seems to now live in my head

Also the desperation and intensity in Jemma's voice, while Fitz's is so calm and kinda trembling, but both are absolutely heartbreaking in their own ways

But now to season two:

Fitz having trouble with words is both absolutely adorable and heartbreaking

Bobbi reminded me at first of the person (?) from Asgard who helped them get Lorelei

I am curious why Hunter says that his ex-wife was so horrible because so far, I love Bobbi

I just can't shut up about Fitz. But no-one I know in real life would know what the hell I'm talking about, so I just think about him and write about him

(S02 E03) When Jemma wakes up by the sound of her alarm and the song started playing, I thought "Hold on, I know that song", and yes, I love "God help the Girl"

Also it's kinda ironic because it says "God help the Girl, she needs all the help she can get" just as she steps into the lift which brings her to her work at Hydra

(S02 E04) Hunter: "Guys, drop everything!" Fitz: "No, this is worth a fortune. I'm not gonna drop it."

(S02 E07) "Would anyone like to leave before we get started" I would have raised my hand too

(S02 E09) Mack: "A Storm's coming" - Fitz: "No, weather's fine, actually. There's not a cloud in the sky. I checked."

[Jemma knocks on table] "That's not wood, is it?"

Why is literally any conversation Fitzsimmons have killing me? The "I can work for you, I just can't work with you"? I beg your pardon? How am I supposed to accept that?

I am so confused by this whole "real S.H.I.E.L.D."

At this point maybe I don't want them to talk at all anymore, if every time they do, I just sit there and think "Why are you doing this to each other?"😭

(S02 E15) "I told you, Leo,[...]" Okay, Jemma, this doesn't feel right, calling him by his first name, I regret asking in the first place

(S02 E17) I kinda like Lincoln

Skye telling the story about not being anywhere longer than two years despite being 25 (or actually 26) actually brought me to tears

I thought that when Fitz was in that public bathroom with Coulson's cube (I forgot the name) that Ward was outside knocking and I already saw Fitz getting captured

(S02 E18) That was quite a run, Fitz, I would have been fallen down at least five times (not to mention my lack of stamina), three times alone on the stairs (I know that others have run more and under different circumstances but still)

I feel for Fitz, rocking his leg, I totally understand

After 7x09 and 7x10 I feel like they're definitely setting up Daisysous to be endgame, but then I'm also very aware that there are only 3 episodes left to wrap everything up (and also, a huge chunk of that time needs to be devoted to Fitz!)...what do you think will happen in the next episode, do you think there'll be time for any one-to-ones/heart-to-hearts with Daisy and Sousa, or do you think it will be mainly action/plot-focussed from now on? I really want them to have another 'first kiss'!

Uh yeap, you and me both. I was already swooning over their convos in 7x10, I think I would physically combust if they gave us another first kiss 😭🤯

As far as what's happening next ep, I'm not sure how to gauge it yet! Last week my expectations were super low. I figured since they blessed us beyond belief in 7x09, that this week would have for sure less Sousa, and probably not another heart to heart or anything. BUT I admit I was very wrong. And I'm not mad about that 😂

What I will say, though, is that Daisy right now is hell-bent on revenge. I think realistically, heart eyes and mushy conversations are the furthest thing from her mind.

On the other hand, she is about to run into about a thousand brick walls at once. This will be Sousa's time to shine as he fights beside her to hopefully take down Nathaniel. Sousa has quite a few bones to pick with the guy too, and I know he will do whatever he can to support not only Daisy but the whole team. He watched Jemma be taken right in front of his eyes, helpless to stop it. Once he hears what happened to Jiaying, he's going to be on the warpath right alongside Daisy. He seems really close to the team already, I know he's going to throw himself headfirst into the fight, however he can.

(Sidenote: Has Sousa adopted the team, or has the team adopted him...? It feels like both 😂)

I've said for my season 7 wishlist, I want a Will-and-Elizabeth in PotC type of scene where Dousy are in the middle of a battle and also in the middle of a desperate kiss. But ya know, I'm keeping my expectations low. Still trying to manifest it or whatever, though 😂

More realistically, I think we'll get another kiss and/or heart-to-heart "for luck" either before Daisy flings herself straight into the Zephyr to tear Nathaniel apart atom by atom, and Sousa just watches, stunned and in awe. OR, probably after the fight as they find each other again and they have a really sweet we did it, thank God you're alive scene, in which I would be a sobbing puddle of tears and happiness.

I've set my bar higher now, as far as how much the writers can deliver in a short time. And yes, we will need a ton of time for Fitz (my boy is coming back!!!!), but that doesn't mean there can't be more Dousy scenes, once Daisy is actually emotionally capable of processing anything other than revenge and anger. They're 100% endgame at the point. I will accept absolutely nothing less.

3 episodes is long enough in AoS time, to make a huge dent in anything they want to show. I have faith (not complete trust, but a good amount of faith) in the writers and their skills, and I know they love Dousy as much as we do. Thank goodness they only have 3 hours to torture Dousy if they feel the need to, and not 6 seasons like they did with Fitzsimmons 😭

I'm hoping for a really nice ending montage where Daisy and Sousa ride off into the sunset, but I know it might be more complicated.

But keep your hopes up, expectations decently low, and cross your fingers! Dousy is my ride or die, and even if (by some stroke of evil that I will never forgive) they don't make it, there will always be 7x06, 7x09, 7x10, and all the fanfiction you can hope for 😄

But I'm not worried about them! We've been blessed before, we'll be blessed again! They literally wrote Sousa into the show FOR DAISY. The one and ONLY concern I have is if Daisy would decide to go back to Afterlife to rebuild it and lead there. And I've also been predicting Sousa will take over as Director of Shield in the end. But even then, like I said in another ask, I can NOT see Daisy leaving shield forever. I think if she starts up Afterlife, she'll split her time between there and helping Sousa run Shield. So I'm not too worried about that either!
