Rules:
Hello Witcher friends, and welcome to the Fisstech and Succubi Eskel Celebration Exchange! Since we’re all still stuck in our snowed-in crumbling fortresses isolated by forbidding mountain passes, or at least trying not to catch the plague from our neighbours, now seems like the right time to warm ourselves up by creating fanworks about our favourite witcher! No, not that grumpy White Wolf guy, he already has a bard to sing his praises. I’m talking about Eskel.
Fisstech and Succubi Eskel Celebration Exchange Rules
Each person who signs up will get one fanwork and give one fanwork. You MUST sign up to create a fanwork if you want to receive one.
What counts as a fanwork?
- Fics: You may give one fic between 1000 and 10000 (1k and 10k) words
- Art: You may give one complete illustration (finished linework and flat b/w) OR 5 rough sketches OR one comic not to exceed 3 pages based on the giftee’s requests.
- Some other form of fanwork if the recipient requests it and the creator is willing to produce it. If you have some other form of fanwork in mind, you should be specific in your request form, and you should provide several alternatives in your request form (including fic or art) in case there is not a creator who is able to produce the type of fanwork you’re hoping for. A game-accurate suit of armor or a five-tier cake is likely more difficult than a playlist or a moodboard.
Your work should:
- feature Eskel as a character;
- be tagged responsibly; and
- follow the prompt you chose and respect the DNWs your prompter listed;
but other than that, there are NO HOLDS BARRED AS TO CONTENT IN THIS EXCHANGE. Do you want to request something light and fluffy where Eskel gets a lot of very nice things and nothing hurts and everything is beautiful? Great! Do you want to request something canon-compliant where Eskel suffers terrible facial scarring and then later does fisstech with a succubus? Great! Do you want to request something dark where Nilfgaardians overrun the North and the Emperor keeps Eskel as his sex slave? Great!
Please share this announcement far and wide and stay tuned for the full schedule for this event, coming tomorrow!

fucking riveting how fas has such a long dnw/squick/trigger list. it's almost like a collaborative event needs some kind of content moderation to ensure people arent forced to interact with squicky content. funny how that works.

Fisstech Fic Recs
So I finally got the chance to read the other fics in the @fisstech-and-succubi Eskel celebration. Ahhh, new Eskel content! Reading these fics made my post-COVID vaccine recovery more tolerable (BTW, some advice that I received and pass on: the night of your second vaccination shot, keep a big bottle of water beside your bed; you may not have the energy to get up and fetch water the next morning). In gratitude / mild fever delirium, I want to shout out a few faves:
For superb married Geskel banter, folklore, witcher!Ciri as one of the pack, and uncommon narrative structure: Reynardine by kinodream (Eskel/Geralt, ~4200 words). Love the tight writing spiked with humor and the lived-in relationships. The Wolves really are family.
For mage!Eskel, scintillating rapport, sexual tension with a gratifying resolution, and a crack-esque take on Lil' Bleater that's both disturbing and somehow adorable: Spidergoat, Spidergoat by @toffeecape (Eskel/Geralt, ~19k words). Fascinating and lovely to see the warmth, charisma, and unabashed geekery of Ban Ard Eskel, who's still recognizably our guy.
For a gritty plot, an ultra-realistic world full of convincing concrete detail and familiar human evil, and "monsters" finding community with each other: Decent Forage by @bomberqueen17 (Eskel /& OC, ~17k words). The world of The Witcher is perfect for asking questions about who and what monsters are and who's responsible when a monster's on the loose. This fic's unflinching and also deeply humane in plumbing those depths. Some heavy shit in here; mind the tags.
For fun heist shenanigans, Eskel reluctantly dressing up, and charming flirtation: Of Flesh and Flame by @crimsonherbarium (Eskel/Succubus, ~4k words). I might be biased because crimson was my partner in the exchange :D But: I love heist fics! Sneaking around, pulling off a job, getting away without being caught! And some lovely flirtation along the way.
For blisteringly hot smut, peak Yennefer in utter command, and the electrifying thrill of breaking taboos: under the sky, chasing our fear by @limerental (Eskel/Geralt/Yennefer, ~12k words). Oh ho ho ho ho. Shiiiit, man, I dunno. Do you carry deeply ingrained inhibitions in your head? Do you also have powerful desires that run exactly counter to those inhibitions? Have you ever overridden those ingrained contraints and let desire win? This fic nails that moment in all its vertigo and terror and haaaaa yeah just go read it
For its aching tenderness and humanity and the dread and necessity of being seen: into the fire by @witchertrashbag (Eskel/Geralt/Yennefer, ~9k words). These characters love each other, but a few types of fear stand in the way. Makes me teary-eyed to see them accept the need to be vulnerable, even when they don't believe they're worthy or can handle the nakedness it requires. They are, they can <3
And in the category of "Eskel learns that he deserves nice things" comfort reads: Eskel's Spa Day by @maya-the-yellow-bee (Eskel/Jaskier, ~4k words) (I originally misreported this as 15k! Sorry!!) and Worthy Gifts by hobbitdragon (Eskel/Yennefer, ~1400 words). These two fics approach the same situation from very different angles: our guy Eskel has trouble accepting that others cherish him and that he deserves to be cherished. Jaskier in the first fic and Yennefer in the second find ways to demonstrate his worth.
The whole collection's a treasure hoard but these fics in particular worked their way into me. Thanks to all the creators for lighting up my weekend with your talents and Eskel-love!

hello! are there plans for another round of F&S in 2022? I've rather buried with finishing college atm and wasn't able to join in this past year but would love to in the future (I have lots of ~ emotions ~ about Eskel, lemme tell you)
Hi OP! Sorry for taking so long to get back to you, this account is inactive between events but the good news is YES! There WILL be another round of Fisstech & Succubi in 2022! After feedback from participants in the 2021 round, I will be running the 2022 round through AO3′s gift exchange platform, so please stay tuned for the new schedule as there will be a couple of extra steps that were not included last year.

Hi everybody! Just a reminder that the posting deadline April 15 is one week from today so if you have not yet hit the “panicking” or “all the work while crying” stage of your creative process, now’s the time. If you don’t think you will be able to finish and post in time, as mentioned in the previous ask, please reach out to me via private message on this account, or via email, to let me know which prompt you had, so I can assign it to a pinch hitter. Thanks very much! Happy creating, and I’m looking forward to see what everyone has put together.

Hey guys, I am so sorry, I am dealing with a Real Life issue right now so I haven’t had a chance to send out the emails with the updated AO3 handles of your recipients yet. I will try to get to it this week but if you really really need to know who your recipient is before you get started making your prompt, please message me or email me.
Thanks!

Hi everybody, while I was in the process of working through how to answer some of the asks I got last night, it came to my attention that the way I’m planning to do this is not like the way most of the big fandom exchanges are run on Dreamwidth. So I wanted to write an explainer post as soon as possible to make sure everyone knows what it will look like.
Phase 1: You sign up for what kind of fanwork you want to receive
Your signup form will allow you to pick what rating or ratings of fanwork you would like (G, T, M, and/or E); what type of fanwork you would like (fic, art, other*); up to three other characters besides Eskel you would like to see featured as friends, antagonists, or in a romantic or sexual pairing; up to three tropes or tags you would like to see in your fanwork; and an unlimited number of DNWs**.
*the more unusual the type of request you have here, the less certainty I think there is that there will be someone who can create the thing, but I don’t want to draw any limits because you just never know
**I know it can be hard to come up with all of your DNWs at one time on the spot, so there will be a form where you can submit additional DNWs while the initial signup process is going on. I’ll post an aggregate anonymous list of DNWs, because sometimes when you see what other people have listed as a DNW, it can remind you that “oh yeah, I don’t want any Coffee Shop AUs or bloodplay either”
Phase 2: You sign up to create a fanwork for someone else
During claims phase, you will get to look at a spreadsheet with all of the requests submitted in phase 1, and then you will submit a new form listing in order of preference the top five requests you would like to create fanworks for. The claims all come in to me, and then I do my best to assign everybody to a fanwork they really want to work on.
Phase 3: You work on the fanwork you’ve been assigned to create
Once you have the details for the fanwork you’re creating for your recipient, you can get to work right away or go check out their AO3 profile to get an idea of what kinds of things they like.
Phase 4: You add your work to the Fisstech and Succubi collection on AO3, awesome Eskel content for all!
I don’t contemplate there being an anonymous phase for this collection, but I’m open to feedback. Just remember to tag your work appropriately so people can avoid/go looking especially for that theme you put in your work!
