The Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline 4 stars #6 of 2022 . An original and poignant story exploring Canada’s indigenous identity and the atrocities of its past, as projected into a bleak future. When the world can no longer dream, the cure is believed to be found in the marrow of indigenous peoples, who must hide and run while trying to keep their culture alive. The novel does a good job at sidestepping most YA shortcomings, and while it stumbles here at times, it’s easily forgiven. I was initially hesitant, having not loved Dimaline’s 2019 novel, Empire of Wild, but I’m glad I gave it a go as it far surpassed that one. . #themarrowthieves #cheriedimaline #firstnationsliterature #minimonotonebookclub #booksivereadin2022 #booksivedrawnin2022 #booksreillustrated #bookstagram #houlart #houl https://www.instagram.com/p/CbpLq-aBktC/?utm_medium=tumblr
