how would u describe the chiluc dynamic? i love how u write them btw!
wow!! excellent question!!! watch me butcher the answer!!!
for me, personally, i think it lies with their similarities and differences. like, childe flat-out says to you when you first meet him that he’s “kind of a bad guy,” while diluc holds his sense of justice in such a high regard that he actively tries to be dentrimental towards the local law enforcement’s methods of keeping the city safe, believing that he’s the only one who can do such a thing.
also, their views of family are very different. childe is devoted to his family, found as far as creating another identity for them to believe in while he’s doing his work.
and, well, we all know how diluc feels about family. he believes that he is truly, utterly alone, which is his own fault for pushing those around him away. while it’s definitely justified, he’s still at sea in a storm on a ship of his own making.
but despite this, they have a lot in common.
their sense of duty is so integral to their characters, and they are self-sacrificingly loyal to their causes and obligations.
something that gets me every time is how diluc is described to have “perfected the art of violence,” and how, in his hands, that violence is referred to as “art.” not only would childe find that incredibly sexy, but they are the same, in a sense, in how they were made to be strong fighters.
diluc was trained from when he could first start walking to be a knight, thanks to his father’s lofty aspirations, gaining his vision at ten and becoming a cavalry captain at fifteen. childe, too, joined the military at a young age and gained power at the age of fourteen. both of them are trained killers, and have both been shown to mercilessly dispose of those in their way - diluc torturing the abyss mages, childe‘s ruthlessness with the millileth and liyue.
as for how they are together, childe and diluc are fire and water. one doesn’t take himself too seriously and the other believes that if he becomes too lighthearted, he will keel over and die. one of them sees so much beauty in the world and the other sees so much darkness. but they are both bound by loyalty and trust.
yeah, there’s a tasty enemies to lovers in there, but there’s also the stripped-down dynamic that ignores the titles and names and just focuses on the personalities of the two: there is so much unconditional love.
looking past the positions that the two of them hold in the world of teyvat, together they are quite literally unstoppable. not only in battle, but also they are perfect halves bound with the same obligations. they can build off of each other after they get past that stage of sniping and griping at each other because of what they do as an occupation (and to be fair, i’m sure childe thinks that diluc is very honorable for protecting what he loves so ferociously), and that’s what i love about them. they can be good for each other.
anyway, that’s just my two cents on it. i’m sure there are other things to build on that i just kind of glossed over and there are other hypotheticals where some of these might not make sense, but hey - i’m not infallible and neither am i the pope so do what you want!! believe what you want!!
thank you so much for the ask!!! <333
