✨WIP Tag Game✨

I’m definitely checking you’re fic out @michiganstray because you got me hooked! Thank you for tagging me too! I’m super excited to share this teaser with everyone. 💜💜💜

Alrighty, first Tag Game of the new year and y’all picked a good time because I’m writing the epic close to my ficlet Myth. Like I’ve said before, this story was inspired by a string of prompts, the rain, and a song. The final chapter name “Myth” captures all the more intense lyrics of the Beach House song, namely these six lines: “If you built yourself a myth, you’d know just what to give?”, “Can’t keep hanging on, to what is dead and gone.”, and “Materialize, or let the ashes fly!” I don’t want to give away too much. I want this final chapter to be emotionally and mentally cathartic for all who read it because the goal is to make you feel. What that means to you is up to you and your heart. But I want it to be something that leaves you all feeling your humanness pulsing through you like a current.

I didn't want to remember but I would and this alone felt like a death sentence.

So I kept it to myself. Fell in this spiral that was less like a swan dive and more like the aftermath of a mid-air collision. I gave Wednesday bits here and there to keep her floating in calm waters because she had no place navigating this wasteland with me. It was dishonest especially considering how we had promised to always tell each other when something was wrong. But this was where I drew the line. If what I thought had happened was what had actually happened to me then there wasn't any way I could tell her. Not entirely. And even if entirely, not right now. Not while she had millions of other things stacking up on her plate that was already full.

Staring at the wall a moment longer, I could almost make out the form of another. The shape of my tormentor. My accuser. My devil in white. I distinctly remember the color and it being draped in some way on them because it made their red hair stand out. Red hair and red nails. Slowly, this creature was coming out from the shadowed rafters like a reaper and I was lying there in wait as if I were set to die that afternoon. But it wouldn't come and drag me by the throat to my grave just yet. There was too much of this show left for it to do that.

Another minute turned into two turned into thirty until I made myself get up.

Stomach growling and skin and bones feeling particularly exposed to this crippling sense of humanness, I washed up first. Begrudgingly stood under the hot water and rinsed off the perfect combination of Wednesday's sweat and faint traces of her rose body oil. My therapist was quick to warn me of the road this relationship could travel down during our session yesterday. Said that for now it sounded healthy and supportive but that it could devolve into a codependency if we weren't careful. And I understood where Dr. Kinbott was coming from. Could see where there may be mild concern with a watchful eye waiting for the first signs of smoke. But Wednesday and I were conscious of this too.

Planting Wednesday on a beach full of noisy patrons on a bright summer day in July was like dropping a polar bear into the Sahara and expecting it to thrive—it shouldn’t be done.  But for Tyler, she figured she could endure eight hours of suffering.  She just didn’t anticipate the sexual frustration.

But here are today's sentences, from a brand new WIP for the @weylerwritingevents Kink Bingo Card. It's really fresh, barely 1.2K words, totally unedited, and still VERY far from the smut point, because yeah, I need a lot of plot to get them there. (After "No taxation without representation", dare I say "No smut without plot"?) By the way, the prompt is Rut from Card 7.

Opening:

Tyler had been waiting for this Friday night all week long. The Harvest Festival.  Two major events had to be celebrated today: it was the first anniversary of Wednesday’s first encounter with Hyde, and their fourth month anniversary as official mates.

Last sentence:

Xavier Thorpe and Tyler’s relationship had begun with a one-way fight – resulting with Tyler being sent to a bootcamp and having to respect several court orders, while Xavier was left with a bruised face and a destroyed mural – and had kept deteriorating from there, mostly because the psychic artist was unable to admit that Wednesday had never and would never have any romantic feelings for him.

So I did have a sister prompt idea to Hold Me Close where Wednesday got drugged with the same drug Tyler did in the fuck or die fic and guess which bingo slot I’m filling with it. To be clear, this is not a sequel. It is a sister fic. Not a sequel. Not in the same continuity.

There was nothing more that Hyde enjoyed, than running wild in the woods, hunting his prey. The panic in the eyes of a deer as it tried to avoid the inevitable, the way its whole body trembled before him, was all too glorious. He lived for it. He didn’t know, which was more delectable, the blood, meat, and heart of the animal, or the primal fear that took over in its last seconds.

You all will be glad to know that I'm finally working on the next chapter for Cat Ears And Curses. It's taken me a long time, but I have an idea of how I want this short story to go.

FIRST SENTENCE

The joy was taken out of working at the coffee shop with his favourite feline being gone, and even though he continued to smile and be his usual polite self to the customers that would come and go, his line of sight often gravitated towards their favourite booth actively looking for her just in case she came back, willingly giving himself false hope

LAST SENTENCE

Wednesday took a very slow step in and didn't stray too far from the door. His room looked cosy.

First: a one-shot where Tyler and Wednesday are married and visit their son's school to have a meeting with his kindergarten teacher after a few...incidents have happened

“Why do you suppose we’re here?” Wednesday was eyeing the classroom around in displeasure. Honestly, how did Dean not become overwhelmed with nausea?  “I’m sure it has nothing to do with the threats you made last week,” Tyler said sarcastically. 

Last: I wanna say from chapter five of my time travel fic (I can't remember. Something like that)

Later on, as she laid in the darkness of her dormitory, she thought over what had re-occurred in the past few hours. Tomorrow began a race against the clock. The Blood Moon was weeks away but Laurel would be preparing, plotting.  No matter how torn she felt, she knew she needed to do something to help Tyler before it was too late.

I remember, quite clearly, being a child when I witnessed my first possession by an unseelie fae. I was eight. Just barely though. But still eight when I watched one of the girls at the slumber party I was attending begin to convulse in her sleep. Her parents claimed it was epilepsy. That seizures had made her speak in a tongue that was gibberish to all others but me. Seizures that made her eyes go black and skin turn ashen pale.

Emma Waters died that night.

A week later there was a memorial service held at our school. The attending pastor gave his sermon--I hardly remember a word of it now as a young adult. However, it was a passage in the hymn a church elder's wife sang that has remained with me.

When God is gone and the Devil takes hold, who'll have mercy on my soul?

"Conversations with Death" or "O' Death" was the hymn. A rather morbid choice considering the audience. And a peculiar decision when one thought about our location--the song being from the Appalachian region while we were solidly placed in Southern California.

But death hadn't spared Emma that night and it wasn't the devil that had taken hold of her.

I don't have much new since yesterday but I'm getting back on Woe of Wrath chapter 20, so here is what I found in the doc I just opened. Not sure it will still be there when I'm done with this hell of a chapter (it gives me rashes!) but for now, here it is.

“Wednesday.  Wake up, sweetheart.  Please.” Before she was even truly awake, Tyler’s words echoed in the girl’s head, triggering an alarm.  Sweetheart?  Really?  Wednesday opened her eyes, ready to throw the driest barren reply she could come up with to the boy who had dared…  But as she blinked and assessed Tyler’s face, the verbal jab died on her lips.
