thinking soo much how everyone on hotd twt and tiktok were so foul every week about alicent. the lack of empathy towards her character + determination to present her as a villain was so telling of a lack of critical analysis skills and black and white approach to characters. like i genuinely was so confused when i finally watched the show after weeks of seeing content in my feed about it because that was not what i was seeing

#i watched it after all the episodes came out but had seen the content circulating on my feed and the discussions every week #and when i finally watched it i was so shocked because literally every week you had memes taking such pleasure in seeing her kicked #like the way she was made out to be this horrible person and pitted against rhaenyra as if they were on opposite ends of a spectrum #first grader critical analysis skills like wdym alicent-bad rhaenyra-good #a LOT of hotd/got fans hate women like you will NEVER be able to convince me otherwise #it was one of the reasons i could never get into GOT when it was airing just the way the show treated its women #like obv there's a larger discussion to be had about fiction and stories etc etc but so much of the demographic GOT is catered to #they straight up hate women and want to see them hurt. why else would you take so much pleasure in that #sweetaurore
