It’s finished!!! Check out my no longer wip!!!!
If you’re looking for a nice long fic to keep you occupied during the rest of the 9-1-1 hiatus until season 8 drops, then might I just suggest my fic! I’ve been writing it for 3 years and posting it chapter by chapter for over a year, but it’s finally finished, so if this sounds like your thing then pls go check it out!!!
Eddie couldn't spot Shannon and Chris in the chaos despite his desperate search. He did however see a figure in yellow scrubs pushing through the crowd at an alarming speed heading straight for the fence. He realised what the figure was about to do only a second before they made contact with the fence.
"No! Don't-!" He screamed, banging on the glass, but it was too late.
The fence was made with special materials that allowed it to conduct electricity at a rate that was too high for even Yellows to handle. This Yellow thought it was worth a shot anyways. Their hands grabbing onto the fence, and as soon as they did their whole body stiffened, head tipping back, eyes wide and blank, and mouth open on a scream.
It was Buck.

should've said no
3.5k | teen and up | ao3
So, when they’re god knows how many beers deep and Eddie leans in to kiss him, all sultry eyes and pouty mouth, Buck doesn’t stop him. He knows he should - knows that he’s got a girlfriend who he says he loves, but the instant Eddie’s lips meet his all of that becomes inconsequential. He can’t taste the copper tang of Eddie’s blood anymore. Suddenly, Buck’s the lonely traveller dying of thirst, Eddie the oasis, and Buck just can’t get enough.
(or: a different take on the events of 5x11)
Buck’s around three shots past tipsy when he spots Eddie in the corner of the bar.
Their schedules haven’t lined up in weeks, which is why they haven’t really been talking. At least, that’s what Buck’s been telling himself. The reality is, there seems to have been a canyon of sorts which has opened up between them, and neither one of them has made the first move to bridge the gap. Ever since Eddie left the firehouse, things between them have been strained to say the least.
(“I’m leaving the 118.” Eddie said, eyes full of remorse sliding over to Buck. He didn’t hear anything past leaving.)
Today’s been the first day in a long while that Buck’s felt semi-normal at work. An intense rescue pulled off between him and a very competent firefighter named Donato lead to Bobby taking everyone out for drinks at their favourite bar. And for a while, the ache that’s been present in Buck’s chest for months seemed to ease - he laughed and joked and smiled wide and it didn’t feel like he was putting on a show for anyone. He felt happy.
Bobby’s in the middle of a particularly impassioned speech about grain when Buck’s eyes land on Eddie, his breath catching in his throat. The dim lighting in the bar cast shadows across his face, showing off the sharp line of his jaw dotted with stubble now that he’s no longer in active service (Buck knocks another shot of tequila back at the reminder). He’s dressed in a camo-green jacket with a black top underneath, a pair of skinny jeans practically painted onto his legs. He looks… good, is what Buck thinks. He’s always known that both him and Eddie aren’t bad looking guys - evidenced by all of the attention they get on calls. And he’s never taken the time to appreciate it, is the thing.
But Buck’s way out of sober territory, and he thinks he deserves to admire. So he does.
A waitress steps in front of Eddie then, asking him a question. He tilts his head in the way he always does when he’s thinking before raising his eyes, scanning the bar. Buck feels loose-limbed as he raises his arm, waving frantically at Eddie. They make eye contact then and he can’t help the smile that splits his face in two. Eddie weaves seamlessly between tables, never breaking eye contact, and before Buck knows it he’s sliding along to make room for Eddie, being squashed between him and Lucy. He smiles wider then, knocking his shoulder into Eddie’s.
“For a minute there, I thought you weren’t coming.” He teases, raising a brow. Eddie laughs deep and chesty and it warms Buck from his toes to the top of his head.
“Come on, you didn’t seriously think I’d miss this after your big save, did you?”
Buck prays the dim lighting means that Eddie can’t see the blush fighting it’s way onto his cheeks. “Well, it wasn’t just me, Eds. I had some help.”

✨Teasy Tidbit Tuesday✨
They walked along the road, keeping to the tree line just in case someone did come along. They didn't talk much, all of them just focusing on putting one foot in front of the other despite their tired and battered bodies.
About an hour into their walk, Buck sidled up next to him, "Hey." He said, in a hoarse whisper.
"Hey." Chim replied, letting his shoulder knock against Buck's gently, "What's up?"
"I just-" Buck sighed, staring at his feet as they walked, "Chris made it back to Eddie, right? I'm not making that up?"
Chim felt pain squeeze his heart for a moment, this kid really just couldn't catch a break, could he?
"Yeah, he's with Eddie, and they're with Athena and Maddie." Chim answered, "We're going to meet up with them as soon as we figure out where we are."
Buck nodded for a second before pausing, and looking up hesitantly at Chim, "You- you found Maddie?"

Wip Wednesday
"You're a badass under pressure, brother." He said, "You can have my back any day."
Buck couldn't help the blush rising to his cheeks. He looked down at his lap for a second, a small grin on his face before looking back up at Eddie. He'd spent so long resenting Eddie that he hadn't actually considered that maybe they could be friends.
"Yeah, or you could-," he stuttered out, "you could have mine."
Eddie chuckled at that, a smile that was almost fond on his face as he glanced over at Buck. They kept driving in companionable silence after that. Eddie pulled off his sweater at a stop sign, making Buck realize that he'd forgotten to take his off too.
He tugged it over his head, hissing as he pulled the sleeves off his arms. Eddie glanced over at him with concern, and Buck looked down to see blood coating his right arm.
"Shit."

✨Fuck it Friday ✨
Athena froze, trying not to alert them to her sudden unsureness. May seeking comfort from her she could sort of understand, because May was one kid, a rarity. Two kids felt less like a rarity.
Athena had spent so much time and effort making herself as formidable as possible. Someone who was an immovable and even deadly force when necessary. Someone that no one, under any circumstances would want to mess with. She had no idea why anyone would seek her out for comfort, protection sure, but never comfort. Generally no one did, aside from May. Usually the others went to each other or Bobby for comfort, and they were right to. For all that Bobby believed his hands would always be stained with blood, they were still far gentler than hers could ever be.

Fuck it Friday
"Ok, uh..." Bobby trailed off before closing his eyes to focus, then popping them open a second later, "69."
Chim looked to her and nodded and Hen groaned, "ok no, that's an easy guess it doesn't prove anything."
"What do you mean?" Chim asked, looking perplexed.
"That's just the number every teenage boy ever would think of," Hen continued, "you didn't exactly give him the davinci code to crack. Go again, pick a different number."
"Ok, whenever you're ready, Bobby." Chim said, nodding to the other boy who was still pinned.
Hen watched as Bobby closed his eyes and then opened them again a second later, "420."
"Damnit Chimney!"

His family was dead.
He wished he could take it back.
He couldn’t.
He wished he could join them.
He couldn’t scrape up the guts to do it though.
He was stuck in this hell as penance instead.
