India and Independence- Part 1
Tomorrow, 15th of August, is when India celebrates her 77th Independence day and I'd like to rant on everything that should be brought in spotlight. Here we go:
Religion and its role in today's India: I expect we all know what's the current state of religion is in India. It has became no more than a political tool to gain votes. Nothing more. People kill, torture, rape, exploit in the name of religion. The united front this country once presented in the face of the colonisers has long been collapsed. People of different faith find themselves questioning their safety and rights in our country. Have we all forgotten? That in the struggle of independence, we didn't see eachother as hindu, muslims or Sikh, we were just Indians. That during the Jallian wala bagh shootings, the Britishers didn't discriminate between Hindus and muslims, they open fired at all. So why today we point fingers at eachother? Why does extremist parties still thrive in this country who spread religious hatred and entice communal violence? They put on a facade that 'blah blah religion is under threat' and naively everyone agrees. The higher ups plays with the religious beliefs so that they can remain in that position of power. We must remind ourselves this independence day that as long as we foster religious hate, we are never going to develop.
Deep rooted patriarchy and it's cruel effects on the women of this country: Oh I can never run out of words when speaking on this topic. Whether you're a man who has been told since childhood that "boys don't cry" or a woman who has experienced all the atrocities committed by people around you just because you're a woman. We all have experienced the toxic effects of Patriarchy in our daily lives. The mindset that men are superior, more logical, more capable, owner of the house, women are emotional, weak, should stay at home, lower their voices while talking to men, each and every one of this point mixes the poison of Patriarchy deeper into the rivers of this country. It is so deeply engraved that people don't even bat an eyelash when a husband treats his wife like shit. Domestic abuse is common in India. Violence against women is justified. "Husbands have a right to beat their wives", I heard this from the mouth of my own grandmother 2 days ago. This country got independence 77 years ago, but women don't have any in this country. From the second we step out of their homes, men eye us lecherously, we step into our workplace, the manager gives us a creepy smile, we go to schools and colleges, the principal teaches us "don't dress provocatively." Where are the morals? Rape has became so common that we don't understand how horrific it is. And how do the rapists get punished? Bilkis bano's rapists were bailed out and were felicitated with garlands and bouquets as if they did some great thing for the country. THEY GANG RAPED HER. Nirbhaya's case (Delhi 2012), changed nothing! The convicts were hanged yes, but what did the government do to lessen the chances of another nirbhaya? What did they do to protect the women of our country? Nothing. Prajjwal Revanna, a renowned politician, whose rally our honourable pm😍 himself attended, had raped women and had recorded sex tapes of him doing the act. What was the action taken against him? Nothing. The recent news that cut deeply through the medical community, The kolkata doctor's horrific rape and brutal murder. She had completed her 36 HOUR shift and had dinner with her juniors at 2 am. Then went to rest in the seminar hall. What are they doing to bring justice? Nothing, just false assurances. All this country does is sits back and wait for another Bilkis bano, another nirbhaya, another female doctor. When is this going to change?
I wanted to delve even deeper into the issues but the post is getting too long. So, wait for part 2 ig?

I was four when the Uphaar Cinema Tragedy took place. I have almost no memory of watching anything on the news, because my parents probably were careful to keep such news from their young child. After all, the news of a schoolbus that had fallen into a ditch, gave me nightmares for weeks. I can't blame my parents for trying to keep gruesome pieces of news from me.
For years, I have seen the ruins of Uphaar Cinema while passing by that area. My old college is walking distance from that place. The area in front of that dilapidated structure is now an unofficial parking lot where you can usually find a spot if you just need to run a quick errand in one of the nearby markets.
For years, we have known that the responsibility for that fire rests with no one but the people who owned that place and repeatedly ignored and flouted safety regulations in order to squeeze out as much profit as they possibly could.
The result was that 59 people died, out of which 23 were children. The youngest child to die was only 30 days old.
In any civilized country, the murder of children, even legally dressed as involuntary manslaughter or culpable homicide, is considered a heinous crime undeserving of any leniency to the perpetrators. In India, that isn't the case. Even splatters of blood don't change things here. Why should they? It's a land overcrowded with 1.8 billion people, most of whom are poor and powerless.
But the human tragedy does not necessarily call for a discussion on numbers.
Rather, it calls for a conscience. It calls for empathy. It calls for something much more visceral than the superficial markers of success dictated to us by capitalism.
Profit and money are not bad things inherently. But something is grossly wrong when they become the drivers of humanity.
This bus is headed towards doom.
If you want to learn more about the Uphaar Cinema Tragedy case, watch the Netflix docu-series, Trial By Fire. Alternately, you can read the book (of the same name) penned by Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy, a couple who lost both their children in this fatal yet completely avertable fire.

KOLKATA, India (AP) — Police in India fired tear gas and water cannons to disperse thousands of protesters demanding the resignation of a top elected official in the country’s east, accusing her of mishandling an investigation into a rape and killing of a resident doctor earlier this month.
The Aug. 9 killing of the 31-year-old physician while on duty at Kolkata city’s R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital triggered protests across India, focusing on the chronic issue of violence against women in the country. Kolkata is the capital of West Bengal state.
The protesters say the assault highlights the vulnerability of health care workers in hospitals across India.
Protesters from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party tried to break the police cordon and march to the office of Mamta Banerjee, whose Trinamool Congress party rules the West Bengal state, and demanded her resignation.
Modi’s party is the main opposition party in West Bengal. Police had banned its rally and blocked the roads.
Police officers wielding batons pushed back the demonstrators and fired tear gas and water cannons. Four student activists were arrested ahead of the rally, police said, accusing them of trying to orchestrate large-scale violence.
India’s top court last week set up a national task force of doctors to make recommendations on the safety of health care workers at the workplace. The Supreme Court said the panel would frame guidelines for the protection of medical professionals and health care workers nationwide.
An autopsy of the killed doctor later confirmed sexual assault, and a police volunteer was detained in connection with the crime. The family of the victim alleged it was a case of a gang rape and more were involved.
In the days since, mounting anger has boiled over into nationwide outrage and stirred protests over violence against women. The protests have also led thousands of doctors and paramedics to walk out of some public hospitals across India and demand a safer working environment. The walkouts have affected thousands of patients across India.
Women in India continue to face rising violence despite tough laws that were implemented following the gang rape and murder of a 23-year-old student on a moving bus in Delhi in 2012.
That attack had inspired lawmakers to order harsher penalties for such crimes and set up fast-track courts dedicated to rape cases. The government also introduced the death penalty for repeat offenders.

The fire and safety industry in India is experiencing robust growth driven by increasing awareness, stringent regulations, and rapid urbanization. This sector plays a pivotal role in safeguarding lives and property from fire hazards, making it a critical component of infrastructure development and industrial safety practices.
Importance and Growth of the Fire and Safety Industry:
The significance of fire and safety measures cannot be overstated, particularly in India where densely populated urban areas and rapid industrialization pose heightened risks of fire accidents. Between 2010-2020, over 1.43 lakh deaths were recorded due to fires in India, underscoring the urgent need for effective fire prevention and management strategies.
Current Job Market Dynamics:
The job market for fire and safety professionals in India is thriving, driven by diverse industry needs. The construction boom demands fire engineers and safety inspectors to ensure new structures comply with safety standards. Similarly, the manufacturing sector requires experts to mitigate risks associated with industrial processes.
Emerging sectors like IT parks, malls, and healthcare facilities also seek fire safety specialists to protect their infrastructure and occupants. This diversification of demand reflects the industry's growing importance in safeguarding modern facilities against fire-related risks.
Job Roles in the Fire and Safety Industry:
The industry offers a spectrum of roles from Fire Safety Officers responsible for compliance and hazard mitigation to specialized positions like Fire Investigators adept at determining fire origins through forensic analysis. Emergency Response Team Members and Health & Safety Specialists play critical roles in disaster management and occupational safety, respectively.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Professionals in this field typically hold degrees in fire science, engineering, or related disciplines. Certifications from institutions like the National Fire Service College or international bodies like NFPA validate expertise in fire prevention and emergency response. Technical proficiency with firefighting equipment, adherence to regulatory codes, and effective communication skills are also crucial for success in this dynamic field.
Challenges and Growth Opportunities:
Despite growth prospects, challenges such as public awareness deficits, inadequate infrastructure in rural areas, and high certification costs persist. The Role of Fire Safety Training in Indian Schools and Colleges
Have you ever come across this unique PASS acronym for Fire Extinguisher use?
Pull: Pull the pin at the top of the extinguisher.
Aim: Aim the nozzle at the base of the fire.
Squeeze: Squeeze the handle to release the extinguishing agent.
Sweep: Sweep from side to side at the base of the fire until extinguished.
It is the lack of Proper guidance and knowledge among the people regarding the use of fire safety equipment that is one of the reasons for aggravated losses. Fire Safety being the most crucial aspect of a person’s safety is still the most neglected thing at places like Indian Schools and Colleges.
A basic awareness of fire safety and prevention procedures among Indian Schools and College students can reduce the risk of loss by 80%. Let us see the Role of Fire Safety Training in Indian Schools and Colleges:
1) Student Training & Fire Safety Teams: Fire safety training through an authorized person should be provided to Students in schools and colleges at regular intervals. Along with other recreational groups set up in Indian Schools and colleges, a fire safety student group must also be set up which will guide others as well as help in safe evacuation in case of a fire breakout.
2) Spreading fire safety awareness among students: Students must be aware of prevention as well as safe evacuation in case of a fire breakout. To prevent any panic and confusion during an emergency, proper workshops and seminars must be conducted from time to time in schools and colleges to spread awareness among students
3) Conducting Fire Drills: Various fire drills must be conducted among school and college students at required times to educate them as well as formulate a proper evacuation plan to avoid any discrepancies. The students must also be educated about the kinds of fire and different approaches towards them accordingly.
4) Proper prevention and evacuation procedures for students: Along with well-working equipment, proper display of evacuation routes, smoke detectors, Fire extinguishers, First Aid kits, etc. must also be available and students must be effectively educated about it.
5) Indirect benefit to Indian Schools and Colleges: A Fire safety-trained student will not only help in saving others' lives but also help in saving physical property and infrastructure of the institution by taking the required measures and controls.
Conclusion: The risk of a fire breakout, though unavoidable, can be prevented by taking a few steps only. the CM who is a female by the way says that rape is increasing because of the increased interactions btwn men and women. the female students of rgk medical college are supposed to wear full sleeved dresses to make sure the males don't feel like they're near "women." the principal said she has psychosis and killed herself and he was fired but is now principal of a new institution. a woman is raped and murdered in his college and he asks what she was doing in a seminar hall at night.
we live in a country where being a woman is wrong, speaking up for our safety and rights is wrong. men of our country are enraged because women are speaking up and it's ruining their and the country's reputation. during this upsurge of rape cases in india where not only women but animals are raped, men are busy fighting us for being careful around men.
please read about this and speak up.
CRIMES COMMITTED AGAINST WOMEN, ITS HER FAULT?
RG KAR MEDICAL COLLEGE&HOSPITAL, THE HEINOUS ACTS
NOTE: THIS POST HAS INFO SOLELY BASED ON MY OWN RESEARCH, SOURCES FROM THE NEWS AND INTERNET SO CREDS OF SS TO THE OWNERS. if you have any other information regarding this case, please please do feel free to reblog this and share them, as i can't compile everything in one post due to the case being an ongoing one. I would appreciate if you could read all of it, I tried to keep it short and compact and easy enough for everyone to understand. Of course, I have to keep a few names and specific political parties and critism out of this for obvious reasons of this post being taken down, but trust me, karma is real.
Do tell me if I lack anything, will try my best to add it or make another post about it. WE WANT JUSTICE.
01 TAKE HER NAME, DON'T FORGET HER
Dr. Moumita Debnath, a junior female doctor, a 2nd year PGT at R G KAR medical college and hospital was gang r4ped and m4rdered in the college seminar hall, while she was in a 36 hr shift, in 9th of August, 2024, Kolkata.
R G KAR, a reputed college and hospital, only allowing the top of brains to enter its premises, has now lost it's name to this heinous crime. Moumita debnath's perpetrators live to this day and the college authorities are yet to pay any heed. Why?
That poor girl was bleeding from her eyes, vagina, with disfigured limbs and broken collarbones, bite marks, broken pelvic girdle and hyoid bone several other signs of struggle and violence ( attached report below ) Even her legs were forcefully coaxed apart, that her bones were broken. 150 gms of sperm was have been discovered from her body, when a male individual can only transfer a maximum of 15 gms. Can you imagine her pain? What did she do to deserve this pain and suffering, this heinous crime against her? Can you imagine how her parents must have felt to hear the news?
Oh, I forgot. This absolute blood boiling, gut wrenching and demonic of an act was immediately announced as a "SU3CIDE" upon initial FIR, and to her parents, by authorities. Can't you see? How they tried to coarctate the matter by calling it a su3cide?
How can a girl with extreme signs of violence and r4pe on her body, with little to no clothes, broken limbs, bleeding eyes, commit a su4cide? THIS IS A BLOT ON THE AUTHORITIES WHO ARE CLEARING VIEWING THIS MATTER AS A JOKE no girl in that condition can commit a su3cide, do you really think people are THAT DUMB?? that we won't notice you trying to cover up this case??
02 TAMPER THE EVIDENCE, HIDE THE CRIMINAL
Dr. Moumita Debnath's body was cremated without her parents' approval/permission. They were kept waiting for 3 fucking hours. As if to get rid of her body as soon as they can with minimal autopsy, before CBI could even start investigation.
As soon as this case was handed over from WBPD ( west bengal police department ) to CBI ( central bereau of intelligence ) mobs have barged in and LITERALLY DAMAGED THE WALLS BESIDE THE SEMINAR HALL ( the crime scene ) inside the college premises. And for what? Come on we know it all, for removal of some obvious evidence.
On 14th august, during the middle of the night which was during the ‘RAAT DOKHOLE MEYERA’ ( girls reclaim the night ) rally, in RG KAR, mobs yet again managed to infiltrate the college premises to cause damage again, this time targeting specific cctv cameras as well. They also vandalised public property and vehicles in a "profesional" way. — “MBBS student Anupam Roy, an eyewitness to the mob attack, said the mob's act was deliberate with the clandestine motive of ending their agitation.” — from Hindustan Times.
They even CAUSED HARM TO THE WASHROOMS OF THE FLOOR WHERE EVIDENCE COULD'VE BEEN FOUND. The motive of the mob is obvious— to tamper the evidence in order to protect the perpetrators.
03. POLITICS BEFORE BASIC LAW & ORDER?
Political parties are busy blaming each other and throwing dirt on names, meanwhile also trying to hide the perpetrators and start protests against opposition parties. Is your political position and meaningless arguments more valuable than a girl's life which been lost so brutally? Can we not keep politics aside, just for a moment and try to bring the girl justice? These thick skinned selfish monsters don't feel the pain of her parents, the emotions of helpless women and the crime they're commiting themselves.
They are slowly shifting away from the main matter of bringing her justice, trying to coarctate is slowly by heavy politics. Well the public is not dumb, we can see it all and understand how our CM doesn't even care about this situation.
SHAME ON YOU, the authorities, you're are only hope in this city in this state and you're acting this way?! Do you not have spines? Is money and votes everything to you? How low is too low and why is it the west bengal government?
They even have an accused suspect in custody ( Sanjoy Roy ) whom everybody is calling a scapegoat, which he possibly could be regarding the governments recent inactivities towards the situation. They are even giving out orders to resist rallies and protests, such a fucking disgrace, cause then vandalism and tampering of evidence is right but not raising your voice against it?
04. HAPPY INDEPENDENCE?
This year marks the 77th independent year for India, but are we really? Women are not safe at night walking along the streets their own ancestors fought for, women are not safe in their own workplace working shifts, women are not safe in public transport, in their homes, neighbourhood, schools, colleges, NOWHERE ARE WE ALLOWED TO HAVE A PEACEFUL BREATHE. But for how long? It's been 12 years since we witnessed a similar, horrible and atrocious crime as NIRBHAYA, only for it to happen again. This shows how weak, corrupted, and unjust Indian judiciary system has become, and as an Indian myself, it ashames me deeply to admit this. We are failing as a society, still not being able to create a safe environment for our women.
But time has come now to raise our voice and fists together against this oppressive, corrupt government and snatch our own freedom ourselves. DONT YOU EVER FORGET ABOUT HER, TAKE AND HER NAME AND PROMISE YOURSELF TO BRING HER JUSTICE. If we forget and give up, god knows how many others will die like this without any justice. Justice is ours and we will have it, there is no point of being 'independent' if we have to do candle marches every other day, mourn for our women every other day, be scared of letting our daughter out every other day.
This is time, we rise up as one.
We want the actual criminals to be punished a hundred times more cruelly than Dr. Moumita Debnath was k!lied.
WE WANT JUSTICE. BRUTAL PUNISHMENT TO THE CRIMINALS.
ALL EYES ON RG KAR. ALL EYES ON DOCTORS. JUSTICE FOR MOUMITA DEBNATH.
tagging few of my moots. @leaderwon @rainytapestry @fertilizedtoesw @atrirose @hoonvrs @flwrstqr @mioons @dioll @okwonyo @okwons @heeblurs @weoris @junislqve @jlheon @sainns @hyeinism @fleurre @soov @isoobie @boyfhee @jjunae @onlyjjong @wonfilms @kissofhoon @voikiraz @koishua
