I'd really like to get started on this Finnpoe body swap idea, make it my summer project, but I could use some input. I've got a title, a summary, a chapter by chapter layout and even some rough dialogue, but one thing is eluding me.

I want the body swap to mean something. It's not just for laughs or for sex, but a part of the plot. Finn and Poe learn something from their experience, but I'm not sure what Finn learns. I absolutely know what Poe learns in Finn's body and it sort of twists things up for him, but what could Finn learn in Poe's body that changes things for him? I don't want to give too much away, but some vague ideas will probably inspire me to get all the way there.

It's set after TROS with Finn getting ready to leave the Resistance with Rey to become a Jedi. He and Poe have drifted apart and clearly the endgame is that this experience resolves their differences. And as it stands, it sort of rests on Finn and what he realizes. But it's tough to pin down.

I once wrote a body swap fic in Torchwood for Jack and Ianto. (Yes, I'm taking inspiration from it, I wrote it so I can. :)) But if you know Doctor Who/Torchwood, you know that Jack Harkness was immortal - he could die, but would always revive. So switching places for them was an easy lesson: Ianto learned why Jack is so willing to sacrifice himself but also how painful it is for him to come back, while Jack learned what it's like to watch someone he loves die and come back, always terrified it wouldn't happen. There was a bit more to it and some time travel too, but their very unique circumstances made it easier.

I'm not sure what Finn experiences as Poe. My one or two ideas are not quite enough to make a point and I'm hesitant to start without pinning it down. So, any thoughts? Any little tidbit might stir something loose in my head and help figure it out. Just no promises it will resemble anything like what you might think, since I tend to turn most prompts upside down. Thank you!! :)

At the moment I have all my works exclusively on ao3. It's because, really, in terms of the organisation, tagging system, and post layout, it really is the best site to post fanfiction on at the present time. But no way am I going to give money to a bunch of people who refuse to delete child porn and rape porn off their site because they think it makes them "just as bad as evangelical Christians". Not to mention not doing anything about the HORDES of racist finnpoe and finnrey fic that's on there but then getting in a tiff and actually deleting a fic for being "reverse racist".

Eventually ao3, like livejournal and fanfic.net and quotev, will have it's time and a better service will arise run by people who aren't such pussies and suck-ups to actual paedophiles and creeps who get off on child rape fic

I finally bought the magnetic pins I needed to put up all of the art I’ve bought, which includes @sheep-in-clouds beautiful FinnPoe art and all of the Spiritassassin stuff I’ve bought or gotten with artbooks from @naniiebimworks 

I’ll probably reorganise it several more times until I’m happy with the layout but I just wanted to get everything up there for now so I don’t lose it on my desk.
