part of finnikin's problem is that he spends a not insubstantial portion of his time attempting to live up to the (perceived) standard of trevanion's son. even though his whole thing is being bartolina's son. & when he's not rejecting one entirely in favour of the other is when he does his best work

#dreaming of bartolina & going down to the valley was one of like. 3 solid moments he had in the whole of book 3 #i don't mean to insult trev here btw this is not something he's encouraging (outside of more general lumateran masculinity)#like my man. your name is finnikin of the ROCK. get cool with it quick smart or you are going to hurt everyone in your life + yourself #finnikin. finnikinnnnn. stop trying to live up to impossible standards & just let yourself be multiple things at once i promise you (&#everyone you know) will be happier for it
