Trust is a marvelously elusive thing. Hard to get and easy to lose, Feary considers it one of the most precious resources of this world, because it's not something one can buy with money, and it's almost impossible to get by cheating. No, trust is something one works hard to earn, and for his older brother, Finn has earned more than his fair share of it from him, and Feary always hopes that that feeling is no less mutual. It's what he works for, what he's been in papers for, double checking accounting, referencing and cross-referencing, making sure that when he delivers his older brother progress and finance reports—of either business—they're concise and precise, the way he's learned to earn trust over the years.

Tonight isn't just a report delivery, however. Feary knocks on Finn's door, the place for private conversations, and without waiting for an answer or permission, he enters, holding two manila folders in a single hand. "I've got treats," he chuckles, dropping the folders on the desk before going to grab himself something to drink.

"M'sure ya heard'f the rowdiness outside?" he asks his brother, back to him, before moving towards him to hand him a glass of liquor. "They've been comin' in here too. Somethin' nonsensical 'bout moths. Harassin' folks. Girls."

Stevie was out walking with her youngest twins and Naomi after she and Naomi got some ice cream. It was a nice day and the boys were asleep in the stroller, so she got to spend a little more one on one time with her daughter. They had found a bench to sit on and the little girl hopped up there to eat her ice cream while Stevie pushed the stroller back and forth so that Mikey and Tommy wouldn't wake up. She looked up from her daughter just in time to see a familiar face walk towards her and she waved. "Hey, Finn. Long time, no see. How are you?"

if he had to pick his favorite thing about these events -- that will one day fall into his and his wife's sole responsibility to orchestrate, ick -- it would be the food. not that five star meals are lacking on the avery dinner table, but something about the fancy parties leaves spencer feeling less restrained and ready to try everything on the menu -- more than once! currently, he's found a break in performing as the host to down his careful selection of hors d'oeuvres that he's collected from the trays floating around the party on silver trays carried by the staff.

he's about to dig in to a mystery flaky pastry when he sees what he thinks is a familiar face under an intricate black mask passing by his table. his hand that isn't dribbled with a mystery sauce reaches out for a handshake, after which he nearly licks the mystery sauce off side of his finger, but thinks better of it in case his father-in-laws eyes are upon him within the crowd. instead, he wipes the sauce off on an over-priced cloth napkin. ❝ finn?? so glad you could make it! are you hungry? whatever they have in these wonton cups is damn good. ❞

❝ You look interesting, ❞ Umi turned to the man standing next to her, Finn Riddle, and her attention was immediately grabbed by what he was wearing. Something about them made her feel all sorts of things, but she wasn’t quite sure yet if those were bad or good. All that she was sure of was that he seemed like he had a story to tell. ❝ Izumi Tokugawa, owner of Oyster Royale, ❞ she introduced herself with a hand out for him to shake, a smile on her lips. Despite spending more time fishing at the beach or at the ports, she knew it was much better to attach her name to the restaurant she (barely) owns. Technically, it was under her name and she made all the final decisions, but the head chef and the general manager were the ones who worked there every day (that was a working day), not her. She knew and accepted that without any hint of embarrassment or annoyance. Right then and there, she also suddenly knew who the person next to her was, the realization just dawning on her and making her ebony eyes widen with surprise, ❝ I know you, don’t I? ❞

Mari had really started to love the town events in Kismet Harbor. They were always so much fun and really showed the whole small town life thing she was starting to enjoy. The sense of community was big there and it showed as everyone was out enjoying the music, booths, and food at Kismet Harbor Park every weekend. She luckily had the day off and decided to go enjoy it all herself so she went and was looking over one of the booths. As she did, someone who worked there came up and said, "You guys are such a cute couple." Mari froze and looked around quickly to see she was close to someone and a blush filled her cheeks. "Oh, we're not..."

Angel hadn't moved since he'd set foot out the door. Her hands gripped the small knife he'd given her so tightly that her knuckles had turned white and her fingers had begun to tingle. She knew she'd never be able to use it, even though she'd promised she would if it came down to it. Finn had been nothing but kind to her, a direct contradiction to his looks and persona. He'd saved her the day of the outbreak and had been looking out for her since, regardless of how burdensome she was. He even tried his hardest not to leave her side unless necessary. Supply runs, for example, were absolutely necessary, and Angel knew that. Of course, it didn't make her feel any better about it. She'd always been a bit anxious and reserved, but it was nothing compared to the cripling anxiety that overcame her when he stepped outside the classroom door. They'd been holed up in the building for a couple weeks now. There were too many of those things romaing the halls downstairs, and even if they managed to get past them, it wasn't like they had another place to go. Each day presented new terrors to face and they only became more frightening when she was alone. Each little bump and creak had her convinced a painful death was a mere moments away. When she heard the doorknob moving, her already frozen body became even more still. She only breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Finn walk through the doorway. "Oh thank God," she exhaled and her grip on the blade finally loosened. Her fingers cramped painfuly as she set the knife down on the desk beside her. Although he looked fine, she couldn't help but tenderly ask, "Are you okay? Nothing bad happened?"
