her  " travels "  eventually  brought  her  to  ethiopia  .  a  notoriously  closed - off  kingdom  ,  word  of  her  healing  abilities  convinced  the  late  dowager  queen  to  give  isra  an  audience  .  from  there  ,  it  was  as  easy  as  charming  the  woman  ,  to  whom  she  became  a  close  friend  ,  a confidant  ,  and a willing  student  .  she  spent  years  in  ethiopian  court  ,  studying  the  soloman  family  ,  sending  information  back  to  her  superiors  in  egypt  .  it was merely a job , at first , but she grew to love the solomans .

ISRA : also spelled israa , or اسراء in arabic , meaning " night journey . it is derived from the arabic سرى ( sara ) , " to travel at night . "

AL - AMIN : spelled الأمين in arabic , derived from امين ( amin ) , " truthful , trustworthy . " al - amin , therefore , translates to " the truthful , " or " the trustworthy . "

MUTUALLY - ASSURED DESTRUCTION : a spy from a different kingdom ; they're both aware that the other is in espionage , in addition to another secret that simply cannot get out , or they'll both be ruined . for that reason , this muse is the person isra feels she can trust the most ( though that may not be saying much ) . she occasionally goes to them for intel and resources , and they ask the same of her .

I have done my own similar searches. Finding a variety of Indian cinema was likely easiest between 2002 and 2015 (roughly) by way of Netflix mail DVDs. As that service began to decline toward the end of the above period, It became increasingly impossible to find movies from India that were not the latest, hot new releases, available on Netflix streaming. Prime offers a so-so collection, and it does require a minor degree of digging to access. The attached article offers much greater detail for anyone interesting in the varieties of Indian cinema.

(American critics are likely paying lip service to Ray when including one of the Apu Trilogy films in their “best films ever made” list. I would rank them somewhere between eight and fifteen among movies made during Ray’s lifetime work. “ There’s a phrase that has stuck in my mind for the past few months when I think about Indian cinema. “Racism by omission” is a quote, again, from Mark Cousins in The Story of Film, and though he wasn’t talking about Indian cinema, it absolutely applies to it. For the most prolific national cinema in the world to be virtually unwatched and unavailable in America very much has the stench of racism attached to it. Not only are Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Malayalam, and Kannada films impossible to find streaming, they’re also incredibly difficult to find on DVD (blu ray isn’t even an option here). Most of the films from the 40s through the 70s (where I currently am in my viewing) were maybe - maybe - released on DVD once in the 90s or early 2000s. So finding any way to view 100 Indian movies has been a slog. Here in the U.S. there’s Eros Now, a streaming service you can add-on to your Prime or Apple TV account for $4 a month, but it’s not easy to navigate, has no way to filter your search, and the selection is still incredibly limited. Amazon has some of the bigger Hindi/Bollywood movies; especially starting in the 60s. “

The government introduced the new tax regime in 2020, aiming to simplify taxation with lower rates and fewer exemptions. Since then, over 72% of taxpayers have shifted to the new system for the Assessment Year 2024-25. However, a complete phase-out of the old regime has sparked intense debate among taxpayers and experts alike.

Old vs. New Tax Regime: The Debate

The new tax regime has been lauded for its simplicity. Taxpayers no longer need to maintain detailed records or file deductions, making compliance easier. “The increased adoption of the new regime indicates a move toward a simpler tax system,” says Rahul Charkha, Partner at Economic Laws Practice. Employers also find the new system easier for payroll processing, as it reduces the need to verify extensive documentation.

However, critics argue that the new regime doesn’t suit everyone. Many middle-class taxpayers, who rely heavily on exemptions like house rent allowance (HRA) or Section 80C investments, may face higher taxable incomes and tax liabilities under the new system. Gaurav Makhijani, a Chartered Accountant, explains, “For those dependent on deductions and exemptions, the shift could mean rethinking their financial strategies.”

What to Expect in Budget 2025?

While the complete discontinuation of the old tax regime seems unlikely in this budget, the government may take further steps to promote the new system. Experts anticipate changes like revised tax slabs, selective deductions, and enhanced pre-filled forms to encourage adoption.
