I’m not exactly sure how to phrase this. I, like many others unfortunately, am a scared and confused queer person. Being on the younger side as well I really don’t know what steps to take to be safe. Is removing any note that I’m queer from my socials really something I should do? Should I stop posting about my experiences as a queer person? What apps should I cease use of? As a trans person should I detransition while I’m in public? Etc.
I’m just so lost, I feel like I need a field guide to navigate through this.
I’m sorry for bothering you with it, but your posts have been comforting today. Hope you’re safe too. <3.
Nobody can tell you how to best protect your safety but you, because youre the only one able to guage your situation. Are you in a blue state with protections and an established queer culture? Are you in a small red farm town where trucks full of trumpers drive around with flags and rifles (I am)? Is someone following your car or harassing you at school? Does your town have a rainbow sidewalk? In person, you have to weigh your assessment of danger and awareness of your surroundings against, I guess, your desire to authentically express yourself.
I am a bad judge of this. I am aggressively visibly queer, always have been, and i will never back down from beig confronted. I escalate conflict and then i win them. I dont go seeking it, but when it finds me, I will not be cowed. I have never been in the closet and I will not go there. I value my expression highly and my physical wellbeing very lightly. After a lifetime of suicidal tendencies, my self preservation skills have atrophied.
Thats not to say im not aware of my surroundings and risks. Just that you might have different priorities than I do. Some suggestions:
-Dont use a period tracking app. You write that shit on physical pen and paper and hide it. If you think you nay be pregnant, tell no one until you know for sure.
-Get rid of twitter, mostly because its a shithole and was even before the election.
-Do not give your real name, location, school, age, birthday, or any other identifying information online. My profile says my name is Sasha, I'm an adult, and Im from the broad new england area. Sasha is not my name. I am an adult, you can guess what age that makes me. New england is a large area and I do not speak about identifying landmarks near me. Get a nickname. Remove your age. Lie. Lie about where you live or be vague. You owe this information to nobody, ever. Speak about your experiences, please, we need your voice. But edit those experiences so they dont get used against you.
-use the block button generously
-learn your rights, state and local. Learn how to speak to cops or avoid speaking to cops, rather.
-make real life community connections, particularly around gardening and food sharing. Learn to grow your own food.
-take a first aid cpr class.
-learn to drive, even if you dont end up going for your license. Have the ability to operate a car.
-Learn to shoot, get a license, practice frequently, and be armed.
-stay close to your loved ones. Talk to friends and family and people you trust. Isolation is the enemy.

Welcome to my blog!
To whomever may be reading this,
Hello! Welcome to my blog! I am 22 years old and an aspiring Diagnostic Medical Sonographer! I'm making this blog to document my journey from ground 0 to being a registered sonographer.
Allow me to talk a bit more about myself and why I want to go into this profession. I have been undecisive about what I want to pursue for about 4 years now. Ever since I left high school I have felt lost. I tried multiple majors, and none of them felt like they were the right fit for me. I was scared of going into medicine for several reasons, so the idea of going into medicine never really crossed my mind after that. I was scared, because I didn't know. I didn't know what types of jobs were available in the medical field, except for only a few roles. After some time and getting to know myself better, I thought hey, maybe me and medicine would be a good fit. I like to think of myself as smart and disciplined. I have a natural knack for science and math. I believe myself to be caring and empathetic. I am an introvert though, so that was a trait of mine that made me have doubts. I couldn't see myself being a nurse or doctor. I looked into some medical fields I could do with not much schooling, as I am paying out of pocket. 2c year degrees like nursing, respiratory therapy and radiology/sonography came up. The imaging careers caught my attention and from what I hear from others, it is a good medical career to pick if you are an introvert. I love kids, so I instantly thought of working with expecting mothers, or even specializing in pediatrics.
That's how I got here. Right now I'm trying to find a program, but they are so hard to find. I find some trade schools who offer programs, but they aren't accredited with CAAHEP. I find some programs but they have a huge waitlist and will not be accepting new applicants. Doesn't leave me with any nearby options it seems. I may have to go to a school kind of far. I'm still going to be doing research on programs near me, see if maybe I can find one or maybe the full ones start accepting applicants. In the mean time, I plan on getting myself into the hospitals. Someone I saw on tiktok said they would recommend entry level jobs, specifically if you can get one related to imaging. I've looked at the hospitals in my area, and even these entry level jobs have some requirements like BLS. I thought I had my BLS, but I only have CPR/FIRST AID/AED. So, my first step is getting my BLS, that way I can start applying for some entry level jobs and get experience while I wait for a program. The American Red Cross will be having some classes in my area and the beginning of next year, so I'm going to sign up for the class. It's 92 bucks, but hey, I want this! I want to be a sonographer! I want a good job that makes me happy. I was gonna sign up for the class tomorrow, but why wait? I'm gonna sign up right now!!!

hiiii sorry about last night! i got some pretty scary news from the doctor at about 6pm, and over the course of the night it all was just kinda sinking in and i got very upset and scared. i'm feeling much better this morning, and i'll be starting a new medication soon to help prevent the issue from escalating, so i'll be okay too!
that's all i wanted to make sure everybody heard, but if friends are interested in more specifics, i've talked about it more under the cut.
<3
the short of it is, i found out last night i have a significantly elevated risk for strokes and heart attacks, at age 29. you can imagine how scary that is to find out from a blood test you AND your doctor expected to come back with nothing interesting, lmao.
it's serious enough that my doctor wants me to start a new medication immediately, without even seeing me in his office first. i've agreed to this after a cursory bit of my own research on the to-be-prescribed medication, as well as talking to my mom, who also happens to take a medication in this category.
i usually prefer to discuss new meds thoroughly with my doctor or psychiatrist before starting them, but of course, the fact i'm being offered the option of starting immediately, and the nature of what it's meant to prevent, kinda more than justifies throwing that standard to the wind. i do have an appointment with him next month to talk about the overall situation in greater detail, and i intend to discuss how the meds are treating me by then as well!
as is apparently a theme in my family, i have these risks without any significant signs of the overall conditions that would normally cause them. my father went through the same thing, via lung cancer despite never smoking and never having significant asbestos exposure in his construction career—obviously lung cancer can happen anyway, but lacking any of the common causes for it is rarer. naturally, i have achieved a similar issue; the elevated risks i have would most commonly be associated with diabetes and hypothyroidism. obviously, i intend to look into both of these with my doctor more, but so far nothing indicates signs of either condition.
sooooo basically: i'm okay! nothing that's an emergency Right Now, but something that could BECOME an emergency basically any time. i'm already looking into memorizing the early signs of heart attack and stroke in my body type, and i'm considering taking a CPR class in the near future and inviting my mom and sister, as they're the people i'm most likely to be with should something go really wrong. fortunately, i was at the doctor in the first place for a physical, and my heart sounds great!
i have another round of bloodwork scheduled in march to see how much the new meds are helping. i'm also, on a slower scale due to autism and strength loss complicating things, working on adjusting what i eat and how i exercise. because of the aforementioned reasons, i can't just switch as promptly as i'd like to, but that's why i'm so eager to start this medication. :)
thank you for reading, and for the well wishes on my posts from last night! things are gonna be okay. one step at a time!

Thoughts After Competing
"Are you going to change your Jiu-Jitsu game in light of your first competition?"
Yes, but not in the way you may expect. Some people I've heard answer this talk about developing a better game plan and drilling specific weaknesses, holes, or gaps in their game. As there are some benefits to this, I don't agree with this in some aspects. From experience in security and law enforcement, chasing the last trend typically does not produce favorable results. If you lose to an arm bar in a competition, and for the next six months you work on armbar defense only, you'll probably get choked out next time around. Some other responses will focus on the intensity of their game. Me? In the months of training leading up to a tournament, I realized a seed was planted, and it started to take root. It was a want that I needed to weed out. I began to care too much and try too hard. So how is my game going to change? I'm going to remove the game altogether. I'm going to focus on learning, flowing, and having fun. I forgot why I got into Jiu-Jitsu in the first place. I didn't start to chase medals, stripes, or belts. I didn't get into it to work up a podium or ranking bracket. I didn't begin to try to best people or prove myself to anyone. And if I had started doing any of that, I would stop. I want to return to the roots of my Jiu-Jitsu journey in the garage. Why just train for 5 minutes? I miss the 30 minutes or more. The 5-7 hours we'd manage to put in during a holiday. [You can insert sprint vs. marathon metaphor here, you won't catch me running either] If my perspective change hinders my promotions or disappoints my teammates, mentors, or coaches, so be it. Guess what? I don't practice Jiu-Jitsu for them, and the color of my belt doesn't define me.
Before I competed, a friend told me a bit about his experience. His takeaway was about handling the adrenaline dump you get when you step out on those mats to face an unknown adversary in front of strangers. And this is true; there is some anxiety and adrenaline response. But it is nothing I haven't encountered before. I grew up doing martial arts competitions, and I distinctly remember one where I was the only kid in my division, so I was moved up to spar and compete against older and higher-ranked kids. Then in my late teens and early adulthood, I had been in combat- shot at, near explosions, etc., and in various life-and-death situations, whether it be my life or someone else's. I've been in situations requiring me to do CPR and take further actions to save someone's life—the adrenaline I can handle.
The other argument for competing is it boosts your Jiu-Jitsu, going out and testing yourself against some random. Again, I get that. But I know different methods return similar results. And the other ways can be more fun. Seminars, for example, are one. Now, don't hear what I'm not saying. I love my coaches, and there isn't a class that goes by that I don't soak up something new. But having a guest instructor or a few hours with someone out of your school just hits differently. I often find myself in awe, not necessarily by the technique taught, but by seeing another human perform Jiu-Jitsu at that level, with a different upbringing. I'd like to think if my head coach went to their school, there'd be some bright-eyed white belt in awe by them too. The other way is to drop in other schools. Now, admittedly, I haven't gotten to do this as much as I'd like, but I have dropped in another school or two, and it's rewarding. The first time, I was still pretty fresh. Still mostly training out of a garage, I popped into a school where a friend of mine was teaching. The next time I had some wear and tear on my belt, which was almost more nerve-racking than my first competition. I was the highest-ranked white belt in the class, and imposter syndrome set in hard. Was I good enough to stand in front of all these dudes in their gym? Long story short, I held my own, and the imposter syndrome faded.
With all that being said. Will I celebrate the promotions of my teammates or even my own? Of course, I will. Promotions are still an accomplishment regardless of your motivation. Will I roll with those who prefer competition Jiu-Jitsu? Why wouldn't I? There are plenty of folks I enjoy rolling with despite their love for the competition scene. And as far as the competition scene, I'm all for the community. The overall vibe of a Jiu-Jitsu competition was way better than the traditional martial art competitions I grew up around.
Anyways.
If you train and haven't competed, don't let this deter you- you may love it, as many do. And I'm not saying I'll never compete again, but I just want to chill for now.
Thanks for reading.

How Can I Find CPR Training Near Me?
Finding CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) training near you is crucial to learn emergency response skills from a reliable source. Whether you aim to enhance your safety knowledge, fulfill job-related certification, or increase your readiness to respond effectively, selecting the right CPR course is essential. Proper training equips you with life-saving techniques and empowers you to act decisively in different situations. This comprehensive guide will help you find the best CPR training near you.
How do you find CPR training near you?
Finding CPR training near you is an easy yet extensive step. From researching the courses offered to gaining knowledge from expert instructors, you should fulfill all the essential factors when choosing a CPR course. Following are the pointers to keep in mind while starting your CPR learning process:
Identify your training needs:
Determining your purpose of learning is the first step in finding CPR training near you. CPR courses can vary in content, certification, and learning purpose. Here are the three factors to consider while choosing a CPR course:
Certification requirements: Certain professions, such as healthcare, teaching, or childcare, may require specific types of certification. However, introductory courses can be helpful for the general public.
Level of training: CPR courses can range from basic to advanced. Introductory courses cover essential techniques, while advanced classes might include additional skills like using an AED (automated external defibrillator) or first aid.
Explore various reliable trainings:
After finding your purpose for learning CPR, your next step is to find a reliable instructor or program to begin your training. Here are some familiar sources you must check while looking for CPR training near you:
Healthcare facilities: Many hospitals and medical centers offer CPR courses that provide hands-on training. Contact local healthcare facilities to see if classes are available to the public. These courses often include certification, ensuring you're well-prepared for emergencies.
Community centers: Local community centers and non-profit organizations frequently offer CPR training. These classes can be more affordable and may be tailored to specific groups, such as families or community volunteers. Check with these organizations in your area to find available courses.
Online courses: When considering online CPR courses, ensure that the provider offers practical components and is recognized by reputable entities. This provides the quality and effectiveness of the training. Some online courses include in-person sessions for hands-on practice and certification.
Workplace programs: Many workplaces, especially in healthcare, education, or public safety, offer CPR courses for employees. Check if your employer provides in-house CPR training programs.
Search for courses:
The next step is to look for courses offered by different organizations. You can learn about different CPR courses through online listings or by taking recommendations. This is how you can determine the right course for you:
Online search: Use search engines to find CPR courses in your area. You can also look for CPR training near you by using map apps or visiting local clinics or hospitals' official sites to determine whether they offer CPR classes. Many providers have website search tools to help you find courses based on location and date.
Check local listings: Many websites can provide reviews and contact information for local CPR training programs. Look for valuable courses and read reviews from other participants to gauge the quality of the training.
Social media and community forums: Utilize social media platforms and local community forums. Join local groups or forums and ask for recommendations on CPR training. You'll often find firsthand experiences and suggestions from people in your area.
Professional associations: If you're in a profession that requires CPR certification, consult professional associations related to your field. They often partner with training providers or offer their courses.
Enroll in a course:
After finding a suitable CPR training near you, the next step is enrollment. Here's how to ensure a smooth process:
Register early: CPR programs have limited seats that fill up fast. Register as early as possible to secure your spot and ensure you get the training when needed.
Prepare for the course: Some courses may require pre-course materials or practice. Complete any required reading or online modules before attending the training session.
Ask questions: Don't hesitate to ask the instructor if you have any questions about the course content, certification process, or what to expect in the training. You'll feel more prepared if you know the course's prerequisites and format.
Maintain your certification:
You must keep your skills current after completing your CPR training and certification. Most certifications require renewal every two years, so stay on top of renewal requirements and schedule refresher courses as necessary.
Conclusion
Locating CPR training near you is essential to begin your learning process. You will have plenty of options to choose from. However, online CPR training is the most convenient way of getting CPR certified. In addition to teaching CPR skills, online learning is also very feasible for maintaining your knowledge over time. Enroll in a CPR course now and enhance your life-saving skills.

Understanding BLS certification 1
Steps to find BLS certification classes near you 2
Conclusion 4
Introduction
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is crucial for healthcare professionals, first responders, and lay rescuers who want to be prepared to effectively handle emergencies. BLS certification is widely recognized and necessary for various healthcare and emergency response roles. Finding a reliable BLS certification class near you can take time, especially with the myriad of options available.
However, the blog guides you through finding BLS certification classes, covering resources and tips to find a class that meets your needs.
Understanding BLS certification
Before discussing how to find BLS certification classes, it's essential to understand what BLS certification entails. BLS certification training includes learning CPR and how to use AEDs. It also covers how to clear airway obstructions for adults, children, and infants, team effort during resuscitation, and how to respond effectively to various medical emergencies.
Steps to find BLS certification classes near you
Following the below-mentioned steps will help you find BLS certification classes near you:
Utilize online search engines:
One of the simplest ways to start your search for BLS certification classes is by using online search engines. Websites like Google can list training centers and organizations offering BLS courses. Use search terms like “BLS certification classes near me,” “BLS training classes,” or “BLS courses in your city” to get relevant results.
Tips:
Select the appropriate location (city or province) to improve the results.
To make sure the course schedules and availability are up to date, look for updated information.
Visit the official websites of certification bodies:
Look for reputed organizations that provide BLS certification training. Their websites often have a “Find a Course” feature that allows you to search for classes based on the location.
Tips:
Visit the healthcare websites.
Select “training and certification” option.
Use the search tool to find BLS courses in your area.
Use the course locator tool to find BLS certification classes nearby.
Contact local hospitals and healthcare facilities:
Many hospitals and healthcare facilities offer BLS certification classes to their staff and the general public. Contacting local hospitals can provide information on upcoming BLS sessions and registration details.
Tips:
Call the hospital’s education or training department directly.
Ask if they offer discounts or specialized rates for community members or groups for BLS training.
Check community colleges and universities:
Community colleges and universities often include BLS certification in emergency medical services programs. Even if you’re not enrolled as a student, many institutions offer continuing education courses open to the public.
Tips:
Visit the website of local colleges and universities.
Look for sections dedicated to continuing education or professional development.
Contact the admissions office or course coordinators for more information.
Explore online course directories:
Websites and others list various training courses, including BLS certification. These platforms let you filter results based on location, course type, and date preferences.
Tips:
Use filters to specify your location and desired time frame.
Read reviews and ratings of the courses to ensure quality training.
Inquire at local fire departments and EMS agencies:
Fire departments and emergency medical services (EMS) agencies often provide BLS training to their personnel and sometimes to the public. Contacting these agencies can help you find high-quality, hands-on training from experienced professionals.
Tips:
Call the non-emergency number of your local fire department or EMS agency.
Ask about the schedule, cost, and availability of BLS certification classes.
Join professional associations and networks:
Joining professional associations related to healthcare and emergency response can provide you with information on BLS certification classes. These associations often host training sessions, workshops, and conferences for BLS certification.
Use social media and online forums:
Social media and online forums can be important resources for finding BLS certification classes. Join groups or forums related to healthcare, emergency response, or professional development to get recommendations and information from peers.
Tips:
Join social media groups related to health care or emergency medical services.
Participate in discussions on forums or specialized healthcare forums.
Evaluating BLS certification classes
Once you have a list of potential BLS certification classes, it’s important to evaluate them to ensure they meet your needs and standards.
Recognized institutions:
Ensure the course is from recognized organizations before enrolling in it.
Tips:
Check the qualifications and experience of the instructors. They should have extensive experience in emergency medical services or healthcare.
Read the course syllabus to ensure it covers all essential BLS skills, including CPR, AED usage, and airway management.
See whether you prefer in-person, online, or hybrid classes. Each format has its advantages and may suit different learning styles.
Compare the costs of different courses. Some organizations offer discounts for group bookings or early registrations.
Select a class that works with your schedule and is conveniently accessible. Flexibility in timing can be crucial if you have a busy schedule.
Conclusion
Obtaining BLS certification is crucial if you are involved in healthcare, emergency response, or simply looking to be prepared for medical emergencies. Many resources and organizations are offering BLS certification classes. You can find a BLS certification class that suits your needs by using online search engines, visiting the official websites of certification bodies, contacting local hospitals and healthcare facilities, or checking community colleges and universities. Evaluating these classes based on instructor qualifications, course content, format, cost, location, and schedule will ensure you get high-quality training that prepares you to handle emergencies and save lives effectively.

7 Self-Improvement Tips That'll Help You Be Happy
Image Credit: Estée Janssens from Unsplash.
Nobody wants to be in the same position they were in ten years ago. In ten years, you wouldn’t want to be in the same position you are now.
That’s why it’s always worth working on yourself as much as you can. Once you do, you’ll keep getting better and even make your life better. This doesn’t even need to be a complicated process. With a few self-improvement tips, you can do this a lot easier than you could’ve thought. While it could take some time, it should be relatively straightforward.
Focusing on the right tips helps you make sure you’re doing it right. Some of these could help more than others, making it worth focusing on seven of the most effective.
Self-Improvement Tips: 7 Top Picks
1. Get A New Hobby
Hobbies can always be a great way to improve yourself. They encourage you to learn new skills and get better and better at them.
They can be a great way to improve yourself because of that. That’s far from the only benefit they offer, however. They’ll also be quite enjoyable, and you shouldn’t have a problem having a great time when you’re doing them. There’ll be plenty of options on offer, many of which you should like.
Take the time to find one you like, and start doing it. You’ve no reason not to try it.
2. Keep Challenging Yourself
Speaking of hobbies, these are often great ways to challenge yourself, but they’re not the only ones. It’s worth putting a little time and effort into challenging yourself regularly.
This offers more than a few benefits, and they’ll help you improve yourself quite a bit. While a lot of this depends on how exactly you challenge yourself, it can still be worth putting the time and effort into it. You’ll learn new skills and even become a better person because of them.
Find ways to do this you think you’ll enjoy, and you shouldn’t have a problem with it.
3. Overcome Your Fears
Everyone has fears, and many of these are warranted. That doesn’t mean all of them are, however. Some could be over minor things.
If you have any of these, it could be worth taking the time to overcome these. This is especially true of a fear of failure, as it could prevent you from doing things that’ll make your life better. By overcoming this, your life could get better and better in time. You’ve no excuse not to.
Seeing a professional could help with this a lot more than you’d think. You could even end up overcoming more than a few fears.
4. Know Your Emotions
One of the best self-improvement tips you can find is to take the time to understand your emotions. There are more than a few factors involved in this.
It’s one thing to know what you’re feeling. It’s quite another to understand why you’re feeling them and what’s causing it. Putting the time and effort into figuring these out can be a great way of doing this. It’ll help you actually work on them going forward. This could help you a lot more than you’d think.
Take the time to understand your emotions every day, and it’ll get easier and easier.
5. Keep Learning
Continual learning can often be one of the best ways to work on yourself and keep improving. There are more than a few ways you can do this without much effort.
Online and even part-time classes can be great for this. Many of these can be related to your career, but not all of them have to be. Looking up ‘CPR near me’ and taking a few classes could be enough for this. Focus on what you want to learn, and actually learn it.
While this takes a little bit of time and effort, there’s no reason it shouldn’t help you.
6. Set Your Boundaries
One of the best ways to work on and improve yourself is to set your boundaries. These help you protect yourself and stop people from taking advantage of you.
They also help you shape your relationships so they’re right for you. Exactly what these boundaries are should be down to you. Know how you want to be treated, and set boundaries that help make sure this happens. While these might be hard to enforce at the start, they’re worth it in the long-term.
They’ll help you improve your life so it can actually be better for you. It’ll be worth the time and effort.
7. Listen To Or Watch Positive Media
What you listen to and watch can have more of an impact on you than you’d think. If everything is negative, then you’ll end up being negative.
By counteracting this, you can improve your mental health and your overall outlook on life. Watching or listening to positive media can be a great way of doing this. After a while, it’ll get you thinking and feeling more positively, which is always a great development. It’s worth putting some time and effort into this.
Get as much positive media as you can every day for this to properly help.
Self-Improvement Tips: Wrapping Up
If you want to avoid being in the same position you’re in now in ten years, then you’ll have to work on yourself. Going out of your way to make yourself - and your life - better is part of this.
While this can be obvious, it often seems like a complicated process. It doesn’t need to be, though. Quite the opposite. It’s just a matter of using the right self-improvement tips, and there shouldn’t be anything to worry about. Some will help you with this a lot more than you’d think. They’ll be the most effective tips to focus on.
Though they’ll still take you a bit of time and effort to get through, they shouldn’t be as hard as you could think. You can work them into your daily life, and see more than a few benefits because of them.
