Photo under the cut for slightly gross (but not gory) mouth anatomy.
The fimbriated fold of tongue, which is a fold of the mucous membrane under your tongue, sometimes has these little fringes– they're normal tissue left over from fetal development.
[Photo ID under read more: a close-up side view of a white person's open mouth, with their tongue sticking out and up. Along each the two ridges on the underside of the tongue, there is a row of fringe-like growths the same pink color as the tongue, ranging from approximately 2–5mm. They vaguely resemble small tentacles or roots. End ID.]

Gymnothorax fimbriatus or the Fimbriated moray.
This little guy poked his head out to come say hello. Interestingly enough, I don’t think that glassy colouration to the eye is normal, my theory is that it has been damaged from a disease or parasite. Would love to hear more from someone more knowledgeable :)

When it comes to flags I’m a big fan of Trinidad and Tobago. Simple but striking design. Bold colors well balanced. The black stripe leads the eye and the white fimbriation provides a solid contrast. You really can’t hate on a diagonal stripe flag (except maybe Tanzania’s, but that’s really just a feeling of imbalance due to the choice of blue, not the stripe’s fault). Even the naval ensign calls back to the nation’s history without falling into the trap of a design that’s overly nostalgic for colonization. No notes!

People’s Flag Wars: Round 3, Bracket 2
The Forest Finns Flag was designed by Frédéric M. Lindboe (flaggmannen) and Bettina Gullhagen to represent the Forest Finns people, an ethnic group of descended from Finnish migrants to forest areas of Norway and Sweden. This flag has been officially adopted by the Forest Finn community.
Here is what Wikipedia says about the flag’s symbolism: “The flag is a yellow Nordic cross design on a green canvas with red fimbriation. The centre of the cross is deformed with a black rhombus shape derived from a traditional Forest Finn symbol for a vulva or more commonly referred to as fertility, which is found carved into wooden doorframes on old Forest Finn settlements. The proportions and placement of the cross is the same as the Flag of Sweden. The relative thickness of the red and yellow on the cross is 1:2 and matches the Flag of Norway. Representing the Forest Finns in both Norway and Sweden.
The green represents the importance of the forest for the Forest Finns Slash-and-burn culture, the red represents fire and the holy Rowan tree, the yellow represents the rye from slash-and-burn farming and the black represents the soot of slash-and-burn. The color scheme is also meant to match the flags of the Finnish regions of Savonia and Tavastia, of which the Forest Finns originate from.”
The flag of Litichovice, Czechia was designed by Kryštof Huk. It is the official flag of Litichovice, a Czech municipality, and Kryštof has designed dozens of official flags for Czech communities.
Here is the flag’s symbolism: “The flag is derived from the arms. The three silver streams represent three actual streams defining the municipality's landscape, flowing down into the steep gulley of the Divisov Stream. The colours are derived from the arms of Trebesice (until 1995 Litichovice were a part of Trebesice and shared their history) as well as of the arms of the Veznik noble family, whose history is closely linked with the area. The hill represents the village's location as the "upper part" of Trebesice and the lilly represents the dedication of the village chapel to the Virgin Mary of Lourdes.”

I pride myself on my geography knowledge. I can list every country* in the world by geographical region, from memory (*all 195 states recognized by the UN). How did I obtain this knowledge? Well, it's quite simple, really. I hyperfocused on the Seterra world countries quiz and grinded at it to the point of dehydration and delirium.
In that state, I also attempted learning every country's flag. This wasn't as successful, but in my delirium, I did something even better, which I would like to share today. I created a new vexillological term. I absolutely adore it, and I want as many people as possible to know about it and use it at least once in real life.
The term: tringle.
That's not a typo. It's pronounced /trɪŋgəl/. Allow me to explain. In multiple instances, I found myself trying to learn to distinguish similar-looking flags. One such instance was particularly difficult, as it encompassed a particularly large amount of flags, each having a tricolor as a base, some having additional elements, and all featuring at least three of the same four colors: red, white, black, and green. One way I was able to distinguish some from others was by the presence of a chevron or similar field along certain flags' hoists. Not knowing the more proper vexillological terms for these, I referred to them as "triangles" when organizing those elements in my memory. As I became more and more delirious, my internal naming scheme became corrupted and altered as I "slurred my speech" when thinking verbally. "Triangle" became "tringle." In a brief moment of clarity later on, I caught myself thinking "tringle" and was amused, so I committed.
So to reiterate, "tringle" refers to a chevron or similar element on a flag's hoist (side closest to flagpole). This includes chevrons, obviously, but also applies to any pattern which consists of a wide base at the hoist and grows narrower on both sides as it extends flyward (away from the flagpole). In theory, it could also refer to such a shape at other locations or orientations on a flag, but less aptly. They do not need to be symmetric. Here are some examples to convey the meaning of the term:
Tumblr media
The chevron on the Czech flag is a tringle.
Tumblr media
The chevron on the Sudanese flag is a tringle.
Tumblr media
The trapezoidal pattern on the Kuwaiti flag is a tringle.
Tumblr media
The rectangle along the UAE flag's hoist is NOT a tringle, as it does not grow narrower farther from the base. (As an aside, these last three examples are among those which originally led to the creation of the term "tringle.")
Tumblr media
The black field at the Vanuatuan flag's hoist is a tringle. The emblem does not affect tringle status.
Tumblr media
The black field at the South African flag's hoist may be interpreted as a tringle, or instead as negative space underlying the pall. The pall itself is NOT a tringle, as it is a more complex pattern spanning the entirety of the flag. Fimbriations are NOT tringles.
Tumblr media
The triangular region at the Scottish flag's hoist is NOT a tringle, as it is unambiguously just negative space on an underlying field.
Tumblr media
The Guyanese flag's red chevron is a tringle. The yellow region may be interpreted as a very long tringle underlying the red one, or instead as part of a more complex pattern spanning the entirety of the flag.
Tumblr media
The Progress Pride Flag's chevron pattern is a tringle. Alternatively, it can be interpreted as a multitude of tringles.
Tumblr media
The triangular region in the flag of Antigua and Barbuda may be interpreted altogether as a vertically-oriented tringle, or instead as a more complex collection of separate shapes.
Tumblr media
The triangular field at the hoist of the flag of the Republic of the Congo is NOT a tringle, as it only grows narrower from one side.
Hopefully that makes sense. I just think the word is funny and wanted to share it. If you think it's funny too, then find an excuse to use it. Even if it doesn't catch on, it would still make for a silly meme.

Sophronitis immediately sprang to mind when trying to give this nicely grown orchid a name. I cant be so sure though, the smaller flower size was one of the drawbacks when breeders, trying to introduce red tones to Cattleya alliance plants, also transferred flower size as a dominant genetic trait. Similar to the the introduction of a 'cleft lip' from Brassavola digbyana when trying to transfer the heavily fimbriated lip from B d. It's called 'A Line Breeding.' and, when trying for a merger of two desirable characteristics ,,, you may also be transferring, in some cases, a susceptibility for eg to phytophthera or mite attack under water stress.
