Hi, I'm a huge fan of shadowhunters. I see that you read COI, If I can ask: are Matthew and Filomena a ship? Do they have chemistry? And most importantly, does Filomena have a lot of space in COI? I'm really curious about her

Before I tell you anything about COI, let me be super clear: Matthew and Filomena exist as a ship purely because us Italian fans have collectively decided to project onto Filomena since we’re in love with Matthew and create the ship. @destinedtobemine and I (and I’m sure many others) have spent hours thinking about possibilities for the characters when we were really just writing self-insertion fics. The tags #matthewmena and #filomatthew exist out of pure theorizing on our part. Will they actually get together in the book? Will Filomena get with anybody? What is she up to? I can’t tell you that unfortunately, as much as I would want to. 

I can tell you that Filomena has an important role to play in COI, though not in the way you might expect. It’s not what I was expecting. Even when she’s not in a scene, people are often talking about her... why? You’ll have to figure that out yourselves!

I have an out there theory that Cassie is setting up Matthew to be a brief love interest for Magnus and she’s distracting us with fairstairs so we don’t spot it

I think Magnus takes one look at Matthew, another beautiful and broken thing, and he won’t be able to resist trying to help him. He’s literally getting war flashbacks to TID!Wil right now. 

I think they’ll become good friends, but I don’t think they’ll have a fling. That would be fun, I would love if that happened somewhere down the line, after Matthew is a bit older and doing a bit better. Plus, we know Magnus will have a dalliance with another warlock in TLH (my money’s on Hypatia Vex). 

This started out as a joke, but I - along with many other Italian fans - want Matthew to have a fling with Filomena in COI. It’s the closest thing we’ll ever get to self-insert, so we’re going with it :’)

They really don’t need to be endgame. A kiss, some flirting, even a nice scandal, is all we ask for!
