I was tagged by @threecheers-forsweetrevenge (thanks!) and so
Propaganda for each one:
Empty cans/bottles/glasses: I currently have 30 on display, including a plastic cup from a MCR concert and a can of RedBull Birne-Zimt which cannot be found in my country and I store like it was a bottle of Don Perignon
The Virginity Corner (aka RedBull merch): includes a 2d statuette of Max Verstappen, a small RB18 toycar and a hilarious mug gifted to me by my tifoso friend that is the "I love my boyfriend" template with Max Verstappen in the middle of the heart. I cannot overstate how much I did NOT ask for this (also has a pretty funny story behind it).
Vintage Star Wars statuette: THEY EVEN ROTATE WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR. C3P0 holds one of his legs in his hand and it swings.
Buzz Lightyear: I had dreamed of this toy since I was 8 years old. I never got it because of my speech impediment (long story). I bought it for myself when I was 16 in Ireland, I hid it in my backpack and during the last day of class I accidentally hit one of the buttons and jumpscared my classmates with "TO INFINITY AND BEYOND" coming from under my desk.
Rock stuck under my boot: It's not just a rock, it's a boulder the most physical reminder of my happiest days, during which, forr a while, I was the person I aspired to be.
Tobacco pipes: I like pipes in general and you must know I have a very small one that it's foldable. A foldable pipe. With it you'd be the most ethereal and fuckable person at the club. "Oh, we going out for a smoke? Let me just unfold my pipe and I'll be right with you".
French soft porn spy novel: gifted to me on my birthday from my tifoso friend together with the "I love my boyfriend" Max mug. However tacky you think its cover may look like, it's worse, trust me. I genuinely hold this dear to my heart.
I am not sure if some of these people have done it before but anyway, here I tag: @montalbanosbaldhead @queer-frenchmermaid @raikkonenvettels @regina-del-cielo
#harsh night tonight so you here comes the infodump about random important objects of my life#also not only coming out way more than before as a certified Max fan (I will follow him in every team)#but also to all those hate wars I see on here between people who like one driver/team over the other I tell you#my tin-can team ass and diehard tifoso friend watched the Monza GP together drinking pear juice and#filling out a bingo card I had especially made for the occasion#I love being a hater I'm a hater first and foremost but sometimes it's also nice to chill with the enemy ya know

Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Astoria Greengrass/Luna Lovegood Characters: Luna Lovegood, Astoria Greengrass Additional Tags: Bickering, Post-Hogwarts, POV Luna Lovegood, Magizoologist Luna Lovegood, Femslash February Summary:
Luna finds herself transported in a place where there are no magical creatures floating at the edge of her vision and Harry Potter's face is plastered on a billboard bigger than her. She'll figure out how to get home eventually...
Written for the @hprarepairbingo! This fills square P034 of my bingo card. The prompt demanded two characters who'd barely spoken to each other getting stuck in our world, and I wanted Luna in there. Astoria kinda found a space by herself. Fic under the cut!
Between a moment and the next, in an apparently seamless transition, the world changed around her. Somehow, Luna couldn’t find it within herself to be surprised. She couldn’t say she was familiar with spontaneous travel such as this one, for all that she was used to unpredictable events. During the course of her travels, she’d gotten into more strange situations than she could count and had learned just as quickly to make do with them. Apparating without even realising however? That might be pushing the boundaries quite a bit.
It didn’t take her much time to realise that something else was wrong. Luna had never been a Sensor, never been able to feel the flow of magic the way her mother had right until the moment she found herself destroyed by her own experiment. Luna had always had a keen eyesight however, one that saw what was meant to be veiled, and the familiar shapes she’d gotten used to seeing at the edge of her vision seemed nowhere to be seen right then. There were no floating creatures at the edge of her vision, none of the distracting blurs she’d gotten used to glimpsing out from the corner of her eyes.
Something was wrong. And as Luna stood up from the comfortable patch of grass she’d been laying on while she regained her bearings, more differences became obvious to her. She’d been in a clearing in the middle of a forest, but currently found herself in a patch of grass near a bustling town. She turned around on herself to widen her field of view, and indeed, it seemed like even the air had lost the shimmer characteristic of magical creatures in the area.
Realising that she wouldn’t be able to gather more information from her current position, Luna stepped out of the grass and onto a sidewalk. She was used to wandering around looking for clues after, and she didn’t need to walk more than a few steps before she noticed something of interest.
“Oh, that does explain some things.”
Harry’s eyes met her own as she approached the window of what seemed to be a bookstore. The face was bigger than her chest, made dirty by sweat and blood, and on it was a strong reminder of the expression he’d worn before the battle of Hogwarts. Under, the words “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” were written in jagged font, the shape of the H a reminder of the lightning bolt scar that adorned his forehead. He would almost certainly frown in mortification and anger should he see that poster, and he certainly wouldn’t have approved its creation.
Through the window, she could also see what seemed to be a screen on which Harry, Ron and Hermione were moving through a forest, spells flying from their wands. Harry’s face seemed to be on shirts, toys, and Luna took in a deep breath as she noticed all the other unfamiliar things in that shop.
“Seems like I’m not in Hogwarts anymore,” Luna whispered faintly to herself.
Her feet led her away from the poster, even as her mind wandered in search of an explanation. She might have felt more worried under different circumstances, but she’d been transported from the middle of an isolated forest, after all. Nobody was expecting her anytime soon, and worrying wouldn’t improve her current situation. It had been her lack of lingering on um unpleasant situations that had let her coast through Hogwarts as well as she had, and that was a useful skill Luna had kept nurturing into adulthood.
Despite her current calm, a single look at the bustling streets let Luna know that she absolutely did not want to melt into the crowds, and she retreated back to the comparatively calmer park to regain her bearings. Nature had always helped Luna to clear her thoughts, so she wasn’t surprised to find herself calming down the closer she got to the trees. Laying her head against the bark to stop the swirling of her thoughts, Luna breathed in quietly as she tried to make sense of the different clues she’d gotten.
The faces of Harry on the walls, the discussions of magic she’d overheard in the streets, the books and the complete lack of creatures in the air… It was more than just a different place then, she thought, looking at the slowly gliding clouds for lack of any familiar things upon which to fix her eyesight. She might even be dimensionally displaced, if Harry Potter’s face could look at her out of a window without anyone seeming to react to it. But how could this have happened though? She had been following a creature known for their teleportation abilities, but-
“You.”
A cold voice reached Luna’s ear and she turned to the side to see a face she could vaguely recognise, dressed in finery suited for a noble pureblood attire. The girl’s tone was surprisingly venomous, especially since Luna couldn’t remember ever talking to her before. She did have a go-to reaction for those kinds of interactions however, so she tilted her head to the side and pasted the empty smile that usually unnerved Hogwarts bullies on her face.
The other girl didn’t leave her time to speak however, and simply glared harder. “Don’t play dumb, I can feel your magic and you’re the only one around here who has any, so you must know why I’m here.”
The accusation hadn’t left the other girl’s voice, but she got close enough to face Luna properly. If it wasn’t for the glowering expression on her face, Luna would have asked for more details about that comment about feeling magic. She hadn’t met anyone who could do so since her mother and she didn’t want this occasion to pass by her hand. Had she been a few years younger, she would have asked no matter the consequences, but with age came a marked improvement on her social skills. As it was, other questions occupied Luna’s mind. Had she not been the only one transported away then? Exactly how many people had been brought to this strange place?
“What did you do?”
Luna blinked at the surprisingly strong accusation in the voice, this time tinged with impatience. Then, she blinked again to try and jog her memory. “I followed a Blibbering Humdinger through the forest,” she answered, which really should have been enough of an explanation.
It didn’t seem to satisfy the other however, who Luna was almost certain had been in Slytherin at Hogwarts, for all that she couldn’t remember in which year. She bore a certain resemblance to… “Greengrass?”
“Astoria, not Daphne,” the girl waved her off with what had to be the ease of a long-time habit. “And you didn’t explain anything. What. Did. You. Do.”
Luna stared at Astoria, thinking that the other girl should really learn to adapt to the circumstances, as such a constant level of irritation surely couldn’t be good for her health. That, and she clearly wasn’t very good at listening. “You should be careful, you know? Wrackspurts tend to prey on those with strong negative emotions and that much anger is bound to attract them.”
The other girl - Astoria, she reminded herself - didn’t seem to have anything to say to that, so Luna tried to answer her previous question. “I found the most fascinating creatures, you know, quite similar to the Blibbering Humdinger, but they don’t seem to be able to fly and tend to teleport instead. I mean, I still call them Blibbering Humdinger, because I still haven’t found a specimen of that new species and for all I know these one might be it despite the deviations from predicted behaviour. It’s quite peculiar because most-”
“So you are to blame after all,” Astoria cut her off, but Luna wasn’t put off. If she had to get angry every time someone ignored her she wouldn’t have gotten through Hogwarts mostly unscathed. “I can’t believe you had to get me involved in your mess as well.”
Luna tilted her head in wonder as Astoria continued to rant. It was peculiar indeed that the other girl had gotten caught up in this, especially since the magical creatures hadn’t shown any sign of being able to teleport anything but themselves either.
“Yes,” she said pensively, almost to herself. “Exactly how did you get involved in this mess?”
Unless Astoria had been right next to Luna, there shouldn’t have been any possibility for her to… “Were you following me?”
Surprisingly enough, Astoria reddened, though she turned her head in such a way that Luna surely wouldn’t have noticed the colour if she hadn’t been looking for a reaction. Luna didn’t let the reaction stop her however, even when Astoria suddenly turned around to try and move away from her. She hadn’t been placed in Ravenclaw for nothing after all, and she wouldn’t let a little bit of reluctance get in the way of the unrelenting curiosity her House was known for.
“So you were following me!” Luna said, letting the delight she felt show through her voice. She grinned and spelled her hair into a ponytail before moving to follow Astoria, a ritual that had become indicative of a new adventure for her. The other girl was moving fast, but Luna was used to tracking all kinds of creatures and a single witch wouldn’t stump her, even as determined as Astoria seemed to be.
“Why?” she asked once she caught up. “For how long? Are you also interested in Blibbering Humdingers?”
Astoria did turn eventually, the furious glare on her face not fazing Luna in the least. Luna simply stood still, waiting for an answer. After a few moments of staring - although Luna was looking at the small insect buzzing near Astoria’s ear rather than staring the girl in the eye - the Slytherin finally spoke.
“For your information, I was not following you.”
Luna very much doubted that, because she could think of very few reasons why Astoria would coincidentally find herself in a forest in the middle of Bulgaria otherwise. She didn’t think her doubt showed on her face, but it must have, because Astoria huffed.
“Fine! Yes, I was following you, but there’s nothing suspicious or strange about it alright? Do you even realise the impact of your research? You’re discovering magical creatures no one has even heard of, and you never doubted their existence since we were in school despite everyone doubting you about it!”
The vehemence of the answer nearly surprised Luna more than its actual content. Astoria was waving her hands as she spoke, face reddening in passion, and it was the first time Luna could recall meeting anyone nearly as passionate about her work as she was. It was a strange feeling, but Luna couldn’t help but want to hold it close to her chest nonetheless.
“And you know what the most infuriating thing about it is?” Astoria continued, but she didn’t even leave Luna any time to answer before she answered her own question. “Your complete and utter lack of methodology! You don’t write anything down! You seem to just travel without any rhyme and reason! You just travel whimsically, finding magical impossibilities, letting everyone dismiss you and you don’t even seem to realise how fantastic what you discover is! Someone had to follow you in order to take notes, what did you expect me to do?”
Astoria was breathing hard after her diatribe, and Luna really didn’t know how to answer. She felt like she should be flattered? But she was also quite certain she’d just been insulted somehow. As usual, she just decided to focus on one part at a time.
“See, you cannot blame me for appearing here as well when you were the one to follow me after all. Did you perhaps disturb one of the Blibbering Humdinger’s habitat? I haven’t had the occasion to see what happens when they are in a hostile environment…”
Astoria breathed oddly for a moment, staring intently at Luna in a way that felt almost uncomfortable. For a moment, Luna almost thought she would scream. Finally, she shook her head, and Luna almost thought she caught a glimpse of a smile before it was gone.
“We should look for a way to go back,” Astoria said instead of actually answering Luna’s comment. Her discomfort was so transparent even Luna could notice it, so she graciously allowed the change of subject.
“We should eat first, I can’t remember the last time I’ve had food.”
“Certainly not since yesterday, unless you found some food in that forest you decided to camp in.”
Luna smiled, looking over at the streets to try and find a place to eat.
“Oh, so you even know my eating schedule after all. That’s quite impressive you know.”
“Do you even have any money?” Astoria’s words were dry, but Luna thought she could detect a little bit of fondness in the tone. She fought not to grin. She didn’t want Astoria’s good will to evaporate after all, especially since she was the only source of human companionship Luna had had in a long while.
“Of course I do,” the blonde said, hands digging into the pockets of her overall. She’d long since lined them with extension charms to ensure they could hold as much as she needed. She wasn’t at the level of mastery Newt Scamander had achieved, but she was bound to have some form of muggle coin in there somewhere…
“Do you think they’re more likely to accept drachmas or pesos?”
She held out the coins for Astoria to peruse, but the Slytherin simply sighed and shook her head again. “We’re gonna be stuck here for such a long time,” she said. Luna couldn’t feel the sting in the comment however, because Astoria also took her hand and dragged her once more towards the bustling streets.
Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad to have some company after all.

Ellen | Religious Education
Semester 1, 2019
Hi my name is Ellen and welcome to my crib blog.
September 2019; An Introduction of Sorts
Hi! My name is Ellen and I am a second year student studying the Bachelor of Religious Education and English - don’t worry, it’s not as daunting as it sounds!
Welcome to my blog!
A blog?
Yes, a blog. This is where I am going to provide you with an insight into life at DCU - or at least try! I’m really excited about this. I plan on letting you know about all the aspects of DCU from my experiences and filling you in on college life and opportunities. I will fill you in on the things that I engage with throughout the year, whether it be within my course or outside of it. I intend on doing as much as I can this year alongside my coursework, assignments and placement.
Why DCU?
I choose to study here at DCU because I felt like it offered me the perfect course for the job I wanted to pursue in the future. I attended an Open Day on the St. Patrick’s Campus and I was sold. The people were beyond lovely and helpful and I am delighted to say that this did not change when I came into college. Everybody I have had an opportunity to meet and talk to have been wonderful. DCU offers a number of opportunities in this respect. On top of this, DCU provides students with a chance to engage with the things that we love - any hobbies or interests that we have! It is excellent because there is something for everyone and if not - you can make it yourself, no matter how far out your ideas might be!
Plans for the year?
Well, I am glad you asked. This year I plan to do a couple of things! Firstly, I want to focus on my course and the work I have to do throughout the year. I really want to get the most out of college in this respect as I am surrounded by really professionals who can aid me on the journey to becoming the best teacher I can be. Secondly, I want to get really involved in all the work that the Student Ambassadors do. I want to avail of all the opportunities that the job presents to me. Thirdly, I want to get involved in all aspects of college life to the best of my ability. I really want to experience a lot this year!
And last, but definitely not least, I want to start learning how to drive! This might sound ridiculous but I have been putting it off for far too long and this year is the year I will do it!!
I really hope that everyone enjoys my blog this year. It would be incredible if anyone gets something from them - be it a piece of information that they need or just a smile! :)
I really recommend that you read the blogs written by other students! They are a great way for you to learn about life as a student and to see what potential opportunities might be coming your way in the future!
P.S: Come to our Open Days happening on November 15th and 16th!
September 2019; Orientation and Freshers Week
Hello everyone and welcome back to my channel blog! In today’s video blog we are going to talk about all the things that come with starting college!
Orientation 2019
I worked Orientation this year for the first time and I really enjoyed it! Orientation is the first week of the year for any new students attending DCU. Orientation helps you to get ready for the year to come - it is a great way to start to find your feet, get settled and find some new friends.
A lot of people worked hard to organise orientation this year, a number of students (including myself!) spent three days of the week prior to Orientation putting packs together for the new students and organising everyone's jobs for the week to come. Orientation was the first time I got to work with a number of the Student Ambassadors and it was a great way to get to know them alongside all of the other students who were there too! It was a great opportunity to meet new people and make friends!
Orientation consists of lots of talks and activities (like the scavenger hunt hehe!). The new students, over the course of the week, get to meet academic, administrative and student support staff as well as receive guided tours of the campuses in order to help them feel at ease. College can be a big change so we want to make it as smooth as possible for everyone. We want to make sure that all if our students feel at home on the DCU campuses. On top of the talks and tours, students are given mini tutorials on how to look at and read their timetable. They also get to pick up their student cards and Leap Card which are what everyone worries about the most!
It was really nice to meet all the new students and help them out in anyway that I could. I gave a number or tours on DCU's St.Patrick's Campus and it was a great way to get to meet and talk to the new students. The tours are also a great way to help students settle - as well as giving them a tour and the history of the college, it gives ambassadors a chance to give some 'Top-Tips' for college life in general! It also gives people an opportunity to ask us anything they want or need an answer to, especially in that first week!
Freshers Week 2019
Freshers Week happens at the start of the year! It is a chance for everyone to meet new people and make new friends! It is really great because there are a number of different activities and events put on for students during the day and in the evenings. It is not compulsory to attend all, or any, of the events but it is an excellent way to mingle with other students.
All sorts of events are put on during Freshers Week. This year we had things such as a petting-zoo, movie nights and ‘Paint and Play’. The Student Union (SU) arranges a number of events/activities for Freshers Week. There is the DCU Fest, Bingo Loco and the Freshers Fun Day. On top of that, they also organise events for people who have moved into campus accommodation so they can get to know one another. They also organise things such as County Colours Night and International Night. Throughout the year they also do what is called Wellness Wednesday which is put in place to promote well-being.
During the week the SU hosted a table-quiz in aid of Barretstown Children’s Charity - who DCU have partnered with to help support their work with children and their families living with serious illnesses. I went to this and it was absolutely brilliant! Everyone had an incredible night - unfortunately ‘Yup The Ivy’ were not the winning team - but next year we will come back with a vengeance!! There were brilliant prizes to be won throughout the evening in a big raffle, such as tickets to some of the events that the SU were putting on. The evening was made better knowing we had all contributed to a wonderful cause. This is only one of the events that the SU organise for Freshers! It is important that we help each other to feel at home at DCU and this is just one way to do it. There is plenty to do and something for everyone. It also makes the ease back into college a lot easier after the summer!
So, to sum up, Orientation and Freshers Week are great fun and really helpful - it is a great way to make new friends and begin to experience life in college alongside a lovely group of people!
Until the next time, Ellen :)
P.S: Come to our Open Days happening on November 15th and 16th 2019!
September 18th - 20th 2019; Higher Options
Hello again everyone, I hope you are all doing well!
In today's blog I’m going to tell you a little bit about Higher Options!
Higher Options is an event held in the RDS at the start of every school year. It is open to everyone and is particularly popular for fifth and sixth years in secondary schools. Higher Options is a truly excellent idea and if you get the chance to go, do! It is brilliant because it allows students to survey colleges and apprenticeships that are on offer all over the country. Everything is all in one everything which makes life easier for everyone! It offers students the ability to talk to people who are already in or associated with any particular institution, where they can gain invaluable insights on the place in question.
At the DCU stand you can find prospectus' and mini booklets that summarise each course offered by DCU. There is also a section for general inquiries regarding the university. We divide our stand into the different faculties so that it is easy for people to go directly to the stand they are looking for or be able to find their way around to see what options are available to them! I was at the education stand, representing post-primary teaching alongside the students in the Bachelor of Education (primary school) and Education in Training. It was a fabulous three days! I got to speak to a number of students from other faculties and learn all about their courses and why they chose them and furthermore, I also got to speak to loads of students in school who were searching for the course of their dreams hehe! It was a really great experience because I got to talk to people who were interested in DCU about DCU and student life. I loved helping people learn more about college in general, DCU and the courses that they were interested in. I got to speak to a number of students who were interested in my course which was really cool. It is really nice to hear why people want to do what they want to do! I was thrilled to be there! I really hope I can go again next year!
I remember when I went to Higher Options in sixth year and it was just as fun from that point of view - it is an entertaining day out of the classroom, where you get to focus on yourself and your future. It is okay to not know too - nobody really knows anyway! The free goodies and tasty food from the food trucks is an added bonus too hehe!
In short, I am trying to say that Higher Options is a priceless occasion that everyone should have the opportunity to attend! If you get to go, make the most of it.
That is the end of today's blog, I am excited to see what is to come in the upcoming ones!
Thank you for listening to my TED Talk.
P.S: Come to our Open Days happening on November 15th and 16th 2019!
November 15th 2019 +; Open Days and Assignment Season!
Hi! I hope you are all doing well!
We have officially had our November Open Days! They were brilliant!
I hope you enjoyed your day out on our campuses! I hope that you found it to be informative and helpful in some way! I went to a DCU Open Day on St. Patricks’ Campus when I was in sixth year and it certainly helped me to make my decision to attend DCU. The people were so helpful, friendly and very encouraging. I was met with such a warm, happy environment and I hope that you had a similar experience when you were here!
I met some wonderful people at the Open Day, doing tours and answering questions. It was very busy throughout the day but it was so lovely to meet you all and see how excited people are to get out of school and into college. You will love it here (if you choose to come here!) – you will have the time of your life, meeting new people, making new friends and picking up new hobbies or interests!
Now that we are a little bit into the semester Assignment Season is upon us! Don’t worry – it is not as bad as it sounds – but it is a reality of college life that we all have to face. We have settled back into college after a wonderfully long summer holiday and now it is time to get to work. The assignments have started to pop up and demand attention from us. It is okay though; we are all working hard and it will all work out at the end!
Wish me luck!
We will chat soon, thanks again for such a wonderful Open Day Experience!
Take care of yourself,
Ellen
December 2019: I.T.P
Hi everyone! Welcome back, I hope you are keeping well and minding yourself!
Today’s blog is going to be centered around I.T.P (Intermediate Teaching Practice) which is considered to be a major part of Semester One in second year of the Bachelor of Religious Education and your chosen elective (mine is English!). This is 'major' - for want of a better phrase - because it is the first time you will get up on front of a group of secondary school students to teach them!
How does I.T.P work?
I.T.P is similar to FTP (Foundational Teaching Practice) which takes place in first year, only this time it is not with primary school students and you have a little bit longer to teach!
Essentially, you get a class period and teach it with other people from your elective. In first year you are divided into groups of around four to six people but in second year, you might only be teaching with one or two other people. You teach one R.E class and one class of your elective. The students come into the college for the day - we collect them and drop them back afterwards. I.T.P lasts a little bit longer than F.T.P because more classes need to be taught due to smaller groups.
So, was it any good?
I.T.P was brilliant this year! Naturally, everyone was a little but nervous just before heading into the classroom for the first time but once you get in there and start, you remember how fun it can be in the classroom. By the time your few minutes are up, you are back in the swing of things and are already looking forward to your second lesson - and after that: placement!
I.T.P is such a wonderful experience because it allows you the opportunity to ease into teaching again (considering the last time was January!). On top of that, it settles any sort of nerves you may have had before placement - you don't get thrown into the deep end. That is why I.T.P is such an important and beneficial experience. It teaches you little bits and bobs that are nice to know before heading out into the classroom on placement.
I.T.P also provides you with an opportunity to receive a lot of feedback that helps you develop your teaching so that you can become the best teacher that you can possibly be - it is beyond insightful and helpful. Especially in such a supportive environment, everyone really binds during exercises like I.T.P .
I.T.P was one of the selling-points that encouraged me to pick this course. The idea of 'micro-teaching' is a little bit daunting at first but when you consider how beneficial it can be, you just have to go for it!
That is what I have been caught up with the past couple of weeks in between lectures and the end of assignment season! It was a brilliant experience and I'm delighted that I had the opportunity to do it!
Now, I am off to take a big 'ol nap to get myself ready for next week! Placement is right around the corner and I'm really looking forward to it!
Until the next time,
Mind yourself,
Ellen
P.S: If you have any questions about anything DCU related, send an email to [email protected]
December 16th 2019 - January 31st 2020; Placement
Hey, welcome back! I hope you have been keeping well.
Today's blog is going to be about placement - which brought us to the end of a wonderful first semester and into the start of what we hope to be a just as good - if not better - second semester!
The Bachelor of Religious Education consists of four placements over the course of the four years of the degree.
In first year, you complete two weeks of teaching in a primary school - this is a brilliant experience and one that I will cherish forever! It was an excellent way to begin your teaching career (it is especially great because you are not the same age as your students - if you have just left school you would be about the same age as the sixth years!) and it really allows you to see the progression of learning from sixth class to first year. It gives you the opportunity to see what kind of things that sixth class learn prior to coming into secondary school which gives you some sort of basis for working with first years!
In second year you will complete four weeks of teaching practice - which is the same as the third year placement! And in fourth year, you do twelve weeks of teaching practice.
Prior to starting teaching in January every year, you complete a 'School Visit Day' and a 'Context and Engagement Week'.
'School Visit Day' is an excellent way of meeting the Principal and Vice-Principal of the school you will be completing placement in, as well as other members of staff, the secretaries and your cooperating teachers! You will learn all about the school - its ethos and policies.
'Context and Engagement Week' is absolutely brilliant! This is a non-teaching week that presents you with an opportunity to meet the class groups you will be working with as well as an opportunity to get to know the staff! You can take part in extracurricular activities that go on in the school as well as getting to know your way around before classes start!
Placement itself is an absolutely incredible experience - it is easily one of the major highlights of the course! I think the way placement is carried out is a major benefit of the course - it is not a half day in college and half teaching; it is all teaching - you get to get into the role of the teacher and not have to go back-and-forth between the two mindsets of teacher and student.
I love placement - it is an extremely enjoyable aspect of the course: practice is the best way to learn how to be a teacher. It gives you the chance to put all the theory you have been learning to practice. On top of that, it is the thing you will be doing after you finish college so it is a great way to begin practicing to become the best teacher you possibly can be!
I cannot express how enjoyable and beneficial placement is! You will have to see for yourself! I have just completed my second year placement and I am very much looking forward to next year!
If you have any questions about placement, come to some Open Days or email [email protected]!
Until the next time,
Ellen

Bel’s nap lasted more than just a few hours. By the time she woke up, the sun was already setting and the bed next to her was empty. There was a grogginess surrounding her mind as she blinked her eyes open and her body was sore when she sat up and swung her legs over to hang off the bed. Still, her vision was clearer and after a few sips of the water that was sitting on the nightstand, she was feeling a little more energized. As she stood up, she moved to look for clothes, but remembered that she was planned on keeping her clothes off the entire time she was at Ainsley’s so she just remained completely naked as she moved into the bathroom to freshen up. Once she emerged from the bathroom, there was a smile on her face when she found the other Switch, and placed a kiss on her shoulder as she passed by her on the couch. “Sorry I slept so long, Miss.” she started, looking out the window at the darkening sky. “I hope you’re not too hungry waiting for me to cook dinner.” She moved into the kitchen, pulling up the recipe on her phone and taking out all the ingredients from bags and the fridge. “You gonna come watch me, Miss?” Bel asked, a sly grin on her face.
The sound of a soft, insistent chime in her ear had Ainsley stirring from her sleep a couple hours later. Stretching, she contemplated waking the girl in her arms, before ultimately deciding against it. She’d pushed Bel, and the other girl had rose to the occasion. Now, it was clear that her body needed a bit more rest as she slept soundly through the alarm. Pulling on a loose pair of pajama pants and a tank top- she always woke up cold, and now was no exception- she padded out of the room, making a mental note to turn her heat up a few degrees. She took a brief moment to set out a few bath supplies, before continuing on to the couch, opening her laptop and pulling up an article she’d been wanting to read. In what felt like no time at all, Bel emerged from her room, and she smiled as she realized the girl had remembered not to dress before returning and heading to the kitchen. “Don’t worry, I figured you needed the rest, sweetheart. And besides, anything worth having is worth waiting for, right? ” She said, closing her laptop and getting to her feet, grinning at Bel’s cheeky comment. “Well, you know that’s an offer I can never refuse. What delicious concoction are you making for us today?” She asked, coming up behind her to peer over her shoulder at the gathered ingredients, her hands coming up to rest on the other girl’s hips.
Bel nodded in agreement to Ainsley’s words. “I just hope the food is actually worth having, you know?” Coming up with the dish she was going to make for the other Switch was harder than she imagined it would be, but when she thought about what parts of herself she wanted to share with Ainsley, she knew exactly what she wanted to make. “Rice pilaf. Have you ever had it? My mom’s submissive used to make it for us all the time when we were in Kenya and we all loved it so I thought I’d share that with you.” She leaned into her touch, relishing in the soft touch for just a moment before pulling away so she could start preparations. “I had my mom send me the recipe and everything. Also, she said that she hopes you like it.” After setting the oven to 350 degrees, she moved to the stove where she started adding ingredients to a saucepan. It wasn’t until the stove was turned on that she started to get a little nervous. Bel was notorious for being clumsy, especially in the kitchen and she just envisioned that somehow the heat from the stove would touch her in some way. She knew it was silly, especially since her parents had their submissives cook naked on several occasions. That thought calmed her and in no time at all, the air was filled with a mix of onions, bell peppers, and orange zest.
“I’m sure whatever you come up with will be wonderful, Bel.” Ainsley said, pressing a kiss to the side of her head, her hands unconsciously sliding up and down her sides as she tried to piece together what Bel might be making. Her curiosity was sated a moment later when Bel offered the information with a fond anecdote and she smiled, resting her chin lightly on her shoulder. “I think I might’ve, but I’m looking forward to your interpretation. And honestly, I’m excited to get to eat something that reminds you of home.” As much as she didn’t want to, Ainsley stole a quick kiss, before stepping away, absently leaning on the counter as she watched, not wanting to be too much of a distraction while Bel was working over a hot stove. “That’s very sweet of her. You’ll have to thank her for me when you talk to her next.” She genuinely liked the other Switch’s mom, and she felt a warmth spread in her chest at the thought that she seemed to like well enough. She noticed a flicker of hesitancy in Bel when she turned the stove on and couldn’t help but step a little closer, wanting to offer any kind of support she could, even for the little things. “I know you keep saying you’re not much of a cook, but that smells absolutely delicious and I honestly can’t wait to try it.”
The pressure was really on now that she’d tied the dish to such a fond memory. Not only because she wanted Ainsley to like it, but because she wanted to do the memory justice. Ainsley’s hands on her body was both distracting and comforting and if she didn’t pull away she did, she was sure she wouldn’t have wanted to move at all. Bel was very aware of light brown eyes on her body as she moved around the kitchen and while she was a little nervous, it was also thrilling. Both reactions causing her skin to turn a light shade of red. Once Bel got started, it was smooth sailing from there. With the recipe in front of her and the memory of being in the kitchen with her mom’s submissive at a young age, watching the older woman effortlessly prepare the dish gave her all the confidence she needed. After a few complicated steps, she placed the pot, towel and all, into the oven so it could bake. With nothing to do but wait, she made her way over to the other Switch, pressing a kiss to her cheek and nuzzling beside her to catch some of her warmth. “Hi, Miss. Dinner will be ready in about 20 minutes.”
Ainsley was honestly kind of fascinated as she watched Bel move around the kitchen, adding ingredients here and mixing things there. It always seemed like so much more effort than it was worth. But Bel seemed to be enjoying herself, in her own way, so she was content to observe the process from the side. Moreover, it kept her just occupied enough to stop her from distracting the other Switch as she worked- which was harder than she thought it would be. While part of her thought having Bel naked at all times when at her apartment would be fun, she knew she’d never get anything done. It was even more true when she noticed the slight flush that stained her skin, as she stared. When she made her way over, Ainsley grinned widely, pulling her closer as she ran her hand up and down along the other girl’s spine. “I have to wait a whole 20 minutes? That seems so long from now,” She asked overdramatically, her lips curling into a mischievous grin. “I guess you’ll just have to keep me entertained until then, won’t you?”
With having hardly anything to eat all day and the smell of the pilaf filling the kitchen, Bel was almost too hungry to concentrate on Ainsley’s words and the way her fingers trailed up the length of her spine. Almost. Even though there was still a sense of ignorance that surrounded the Switch, she wasn’t lost on how the corner of Ainsley’s lips curled into a telling grin, one that left little to the imagination when she prompted Bel to entertain her. Still, the Switch feigned innocence as she batted her eyelashes at Ainsley. “Keep you entertained, Miss? And how should I go about doing that?” She turned her body so that the front was flush against Ainsley’s side, which left perfect opportunity for her to lay both hands on her shoulder, where she easily rested her chin. “We could play cards or board games. Or we could watch tv. The list is endless, Miss,” Bel added teasingly.
Ainsley’s tongue darted out to moisten her lips as Bel looked up at her innocently through long lashes. Or at least, with the illusion of innocence. While the other girl had always had a bit of a mischievous streak, it seemed like it showing up more often nowadays, and honestly, Ainsley didn’t mind in the slightest, enjoying the teasing and the banter between the two of them. Turning slightly and pulling Bel so that they were flush, she pretended to consider the options the other girl presented. “Hmm, while all of those sound like they could be fun, I think I’d rather a more hands on activity. One that involves my hands on you, in particular.” She drawled, pulling her closer so they were flush, the only barrier between being was Ainsley’s pajamas. “Do you have any ideas that involve you spread out on some raised flat surface while I have you for an appetizer while I wait for our food to finish cooking?”
Bel always enjoyed the feeling of being flush against Ainsley and while she didn’t mind the way the fabric of her pajamas rubbed against her bare skin, she always preferred to feel the other woman’s skin against hers. She settled for being close to her however and the warmth she provided as ahs pulled her closer and closer with each minute. Bel mimicked Ainsley’s previous actions, rubbing her chin as if actually contemplating the suggestion given to her. Brown eyes drifted to the timer on stove, verifying that they had exactly 17 minutes before the food was going to be ready. With another teasing smile, a gesture she learned from her father’s submissive, she pulled away from Ainsley, leaning onto the counter right at the edge of the kitchen and hopping up onto the counter. She tried not to think about how her mother’s submissive would have scolded her for contaminating a place used for food, but she shook the thoughts away and focused on the woman in front of her, spreading her legs slowly until she couldn’t go any further. “You mean an appetizer like this, Miss?” She asked, gently teasing her folds with her fingers.
Biting her lip, Ainsley felt a rush of heat shoot through her as Bel hopped onto the counter, spreading her legs with a smirk. “Mmhhmm, that’s exactly what I was thinking.” She drawled, stepping closer, her eyes fixed on the apex of the other Switch’s thighs, watching as Bel’ fingers tried along her outer folds. Glancing over her shoulder she checked the time, before leaning down and stroking the length of her pussy, letting out a low moan, before going in for a second and then third, her hands moving to her hips to keep her still. She was torn between wanting to make Bel cum right there on the counter and wanting to get her right up to the edge and leave her there until after dinner, before ultimately deciding on the latter. “This is definitely one of my favorite ways to keep entertained.” Ainsley murmured as she licked and sucked, enjoying being able to take her time. It wasn’t too long before she got impatient and began working her tongue into her tight channel, careful to keep an eye on Bel and her reactions, never giving her enough to get too close, before backing off a bit. All too soon, the buzzer went off behind them and Ainsley stepped back, licking her lips. “Oops, there goes the buzzer.” Her voice was all honey and sweetness as she backed away, though there was a distinct sparkle on mischief in her eye. “I suppose the rest will just have to wait for dessert.”
It was so uncharacteristic for Bel that it almost made it too easy for Bel to give into the teasing banter between her and Ainsley. The comfort level that allowed Bel to hop up onto the counter so that Ainsley could completely devour her was one she never felt before and it only added to the pleasure that shot through her body as the other girl lapped and licked at her folds. One hand gripped at the edge of the counter while the other moved to settle on Ainsley’s shoulder. An attempt to keep herself grounded. It was just enough to feel the pleasure, the coil in her stomach staying at a dull ache, more than safe from falling over the edge. Time went by faster than she anticipated, and if it wasn’t for Ainsley pulling away and mentioning the timer, she would have missed the ding from the stove entirely. There was small whine and pout from the Switch but she definitely didn’t want the food to burn so she took a deep breath and jumped off the counter, trying not to think about wet she was as she finished the meal. As soon as she opened the saucepan, the entire Kitchen smelled of pilaf and while she was frustrated, she couldn’t wait to eat. “Where should we eat, Miss? Dinner is served!”
Ainsley watch through hooded lids as Bel moved around the kitchen, licking her lips as as she noticed a distinct shine on the inside of the other girl’s thighs. She considered going back to her original plan and just pinning the smaller girl to the counter as she had her way with her, but the smells wafting over from the stove were too delicious for even her sex addled mind to resist. Especially considering how long it had actually been since they’d had a proper meal. “Let’s eat in the dining room, then,” she decided as Bel dished out their food, a wide grin on her face a s she considered how much more room there’d be on her table for her to have her dessert in comparison to the kitchen counter. The pilaf was absolutely delicious, and Ainsley let out a low groan of satisfaction as she ate, already knowing this would be one she’d be asking Bel to make in the future. “That’s honestly one of the best things I’ve ever had.” Their conversation was light, but pleasant as they ate, and it wasn’t long until she had finished off her bowl and her hungry eyes turned on the other Switch once more now that she was no longer distracted by her stomach. “I think it’s time for dessert.” She teased, a grin playing at her lips as she extended her hand to lead Bel to her room to continue what she’d started earlier.

The bottom diagram shows how the height of the the outrigger changes the angle of the line game fishing knot as it hits the water. The height of the rod and outrigger tips on larger boats achieves a much higher angle of entry. This will compensate for any sag or belly in the line. Unfortunately, lures run off of smaller boats have more leader dragging in front of the lure. You can still troll lures from a small boat with no outriggers. You just need to select the right lures, and position them correctly to compensate for the propwash. The basic spread shown in the diagram is a good starting point. If you fish from a smaller boat, you may want to opt for longer riggers, or try mounting them on a T-top or further up on the side of the boat to achieve a better angle of entry.
