My @ratblazer Constantine keychain arrived (it probably arrived a few days ago, but I'm shit at checking mail). I love it so much. The only downside is I want to use it on my lanyard, but it's a work lanyard, and my favorite muppet is not work appropriate! Oh well, worse comes to worse, it'll go on my con lanyard for AWA.

figured i'd share some thoughts on the season 2 finale of our flag means death and the death of [REDACTED]. spoilers ahead
so like. um. i am #1 izzy hands fan and apologist so obviously im very sad that he died. i cried. i dont like it because he's been my favourite since season 1 and i dont like it for some narrative reasons.
mainly i think its the fact that his death was all about ed???? he spent the last moments of his life apologizing to and comforting ed, and on a narrative level, his death was just used to further ed's character arc.
i dont think that his death made his growth from earlier in the season meaningless - it is a strong belief of mine that good things are always worth it and always matter, even if they dont last long. but i wish izzy's death were his. that he got to talk to the rest of the crew before he went. i wish the crew replaced that broken unicorn statue on the revenge with a tribute to him, so that while his grave was with ed, his spirit stayed with the revenge (seriously, it seemed like such an obvious thing to do, i fully expected that last pan over the ship to reveal an izzy tribute??? he's their new unicorn ffs)
anyway yeah i dont know how to end this. those are my thoughts.

OH while i'm egghogs cringeposting, moar
the boys are physically strong and VERY well-trained and have fancy powers but. when eggman holds one of them down with a foot on the back they don't move and they don't fight. eggman bashes their heads against the dash of the eggmobile and they don't fight. he can beat them and they won't fight.
it's learned helplessness. hitting back just results in much more severe and novel abuse in response and the effort just isn't worth it. from the outside in, it's bizarre to see shadow the hedgehog restrained with one hand. but things are more complicated than they seem.
even after running away, eggman can just. pick them up by the quills or something and they won't do anything out of fear. shadow flips eggman off of him one (1) time and has to go somewhere private to have a panic attack

Whumperless Whump Event Day 22: Nervous Stomach | Vomiting | “I got your hair, it’s fine.”
OCs: Haley, Twelve (adapted magic!AU)
CW: well. vomiting, one sentence long mention
@whumperless-whump-event
It wasn’t an easy battle. A group of people ambushed the both of them when they weren’t looking. He’d ended up using a large burst of energy to subdue them, siphoning it out of the other’s reserves.
Therefore, right now, they were bent over a bush, expelling out whatever little breakfast they had into the foliage until they were doing nothing but dry heaving. He couldn’t quite apologise for the act of defence, but what he could do was comfort them, even with his heart still pumping from the earlier ordeal.
“I got you. It’s fine.” He awkwardly pats their back, reaching for a cloth for them to wipe their mouth on.
“…Don’ feel good.”
“Of course you don’t, not after all that.”
“…But you—” They bend over themself, weakly clutching at their stomach, clearly uncomfortable. He understands that, at least.
“Not the concern here. You can’t do your job like this. You don’t usually react this badly, though, so…are you worried about something?”
“…Nnn…” They shift around in his hold, trying to push away.
“Twelve. Listen to me. I won’t be able to help you, if you’re not giving me any information.” They don’t reply. He prompts more, attempting to make his voice sound a little less monotone, “You can tell me. I won’t blame you. You want to say something, right? Go on.”
At long last, they go limp in his arms, quietening to think of a word. “…Hungry.”
“You? I can go see if anyone would allow us extra food later—”
“—you. Hungry. If hungry, can’t do work. Then…”
That just about confirmed his suspicion. Story goes like this: They think he needs food more, so they play it off as ‘leftovers’ and give the food to him. Simple enough to figure out, as bad of a liar they were. He should have pointed it out much earlier.
“Then, I’d have no use for you. Is that what you’re saying? I can’t do work without you either, so get that thought out of your mind. I would not, in any circumstance, think your help was useless. The day I met you, remember? Could barely stand, like you right now. I’d be quite doomed if you hadn’t arrived.”
“Oh.” They’re skeptical. It isn’t hard to read, the way their muscles tense up.
He doesn’t want to continue this in the middle of the city, not where people were watching. It was already odd enough with them allowed to walk around with the both of them clearly not locals. Magic wasn’t very welcome back where they were. The people here seemed just as doubtful, but at least they were let into the walls.
No use garnering more attention than needed. That was what caused the ambush in the first place. “Let’s go somewhere else. I need to get you something to eat so you have something else to spew up if needed.”
Easier said than done. Already, he can see them testing their feet on the ground, undoubtedly trying to object to the offer.
Well, he never did go down without a fight.
