Weekend Build: Figurise Standard Ultraman Blazar
I don't usually build Ultraman kits, but when I heard this model kit was announced, I decided to pick it up. Blazar's stripes were made through 'insert molding' where multiple color plastic combine into one piece. Although some stripes still require stickers.
Posing the model kit is a joy. Able to have it to recreate Blazar's signature poses like his battle stance, even the manual shows how to do it.
Overall, it's a fun kit to build, especially if you like Ultraman Blazar.

Fun fact: the toa mata (and by extension every Bionicle set prior to the toa metru) are just about in scale with the figurise standard Kamen riders.
The standard toa is 2.2m tall but because of pohatu's hunch he's a bit shorter at 2.04m tall. While Tendou in the Kabuto suit is canonically 1.90m tall.
Meaning this height difference between the toys is just about accurate to their actual height difference.

The HG Gundam Calibarn is finally complete!
I love the build is really an understatement as I was building in while in the process of finishing the Qan[t] Full Saber. It’s very similar to the Aerials before her in terms of the build so it was a lot easier to get through with the familiar feeling. Because this kit is primarily white, I did get through it a little quicker which makes it fantastic for beginner builders.
Though you might want to put a little bit of effort on the V fin as it can be difficult to shape it after removing the safety nubs as it is an in-molded piece
The only con on this kit is definitely the stickers for the boosters on the Variable Rod Rifle in where a certain part you have to stick in a certain angle otherwise you will mess up. Despite that I managed to breeze though the kit
It’s a shame that it uses slant pegs for pretty much most of its connections for the Bit-On Form as it will be difficult to have them flying around since you need a two certain connector point from the WFM Display base. FYI you need FIVE plus FOUR of them for the Calibarn, and in those pack you get ONE of each, which is a pain in the ass to get. Which fairly sure the Aerial Rebuild has this exact same connector points for the Bits as the Calibarn (she DID loan off them anyway lol)
That asides I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the Calibarn. Definitely one of my favorite MC final suits and really fits the motif of the Witch from Mercury. Her pose she has right now is based on Suletta’s Figurise Standard box art pose. Will be placing her on the shelf with the original Aerial that is in Miorine’s FRS pose!
Now GIVE THIS GIRL A MASTER GRADE PLEAAAASE BANDAI (I would k*** for an Aerial one too by the way)
#Mai does Gunpla#gunpla#mobile suit gundam: the witch from mercury#gundam the witch from mercury#gundam calibarn#I forgot to add that the Variable Rod Rifle you have to be careful in how you move the c-clip on the boosters#there is a certain way the instructions tell you to how to move it avoid breakage#it can be confusing but definitely going to just stick to the open boosters forever

BOCCHI THE PLA!
New 30 Minute label for this too which is kinda odd bc Bandai already has their Figurise Standard line which they use for License kits like this so imma ask around and see if the jp fam knows why the new brand.

Feel kind of stupid but don't know who else to share this with. Bought my first ever Figurise Standard a few weeks ago, Ultraman Anime Ace, and it has lights in it. I assembled it but the light didn't work, so for the past few weeks I've been searching for replacement batteries, which is crazy because they're relatively common but EVERYONE has been sold out. Today, I finally cracked him back open, and I could have SWORN the package said batteries included, but his light thingy was empty, so clearly I am uhhh... not literate
RIP
i had no idea those kits have lights in them? thats crazy

For anyone who’s a big fan of the GoGoV/Lightspeed rescue mecha’s and missed out on the DX ones back in the late 90′s/early 2000′s and would like to get them, Premium Bandai’s Got you covered with new model kit re-releases of the Victory Robo/Lightspeed Megazord and Grand Liner/SuperTrain megazord as part of the Super Minipla Line. The super-minipla line, unlike Bandai’s Gundam model kits or Figurise models, are a newer redesigned upscaling of the older candy-toy figures bandai used to/sometimes still releases, intended for older audiences and maintain a higher build quality for animation/Tokusatsu mechs not part of the standard circle of figures bandai Produces; usually in smaller scale to the DX toys. I personally have collected all their Gaogaigar ones, and they’re fantastic, and include all the gimmicks they can with as much pose-ability as they can manage.
For reference, the Victory Robo is on the scale of a standard SH Figurarts or Figure-rise standard figure or 1/144 gundam model kit, while the Grand liner is approximately in scale with a 1/60 Gundam model kit, the 1/144 Psycho Gundam, the 1/100 Sazabi ver ka, or the Super-Minipla release of King J-Der. As these are Premium Bandai items and not something that’ll be entering regular retail, there’s going to be a significant markup on import costs for them due to their scarcity, but currently Retail for Victory Robo is 5500 yen (likely average Import markup will leave it at around $75 or higher) and the Grand Liner is 13500 yen (Avg Markup to $175 or higher). For those who would want to get in on buying them, the Website Tokullectibles has them up for preorder, with a july-set release date. https://tokullectibles.com/collections/super-sentai/products/super-minipla-gogov-grand-liner-super-train-megazord https://tokullectibles.com/collections/super-sentai/products/preorder-super-minipla-gogov-victory-robo For those who would want to wait and potentially get them later, or would like to see if bluefin might be importing them like they did the MMPR Season 3 Ninja megazord and Shogun megazord, and PRIS’ Astro-delta megazord Minipla models; the figures will likely be around those same markup ranges as evidenced by the normal western retail prices for those items. If Bluefin does not, then your likely next-best bet will be the Japanese retailer “Mandarake”. Mandarake is a Japanese second-hand/Used item retail chain that ships internationally, and is a Godsend retailer for anyone who misses the first-run releases of any P-Bandai merchandise or get screwed over by a import/E-bay seller that never actually provides what they were selling, or does so months after their releases. I’ve gotten a LOT of P-Bandai Gunpla from them in the last year, at relatively fair prices.
Plus, the P-Bandai design team have teased that they’re likely not done with The GoGo-V line just as of yet...

Seriously, they already got it right for her Figurise Standard. How the heck could Bandai screw this up?
Im glad people are starting to address Bandai making official merch whitewashed. This was really disappointing.
