2, 12 and 22 from fifty more rook qs?
Thank you so much for sending me an ask! 💖 As of right now, Fivren is my canon Rook so I’ll answer for her.
2. A scene from Rook’s year with Varric and Lace
“Pay up old man” Fivren demanded jokingly, a large grin on her face and her hand outstretched, beckoning the coin from the table.
“All right, all right,” Varric replied, counting out the gold before handing it to her. “You win this round. How did you get so good at Wicked Grace anyway? I thought the Lords of Fortune were more prone to taking rather than gambling.”
“The Lords are prone to any means necessary to get their treasures.” Fivren responded, dropping the coin into the embroidered pouch that hung from her belt. She ran over the threads that covered the leather of the small bag. Brilliant blues and greens made the leaves and petals of a crystal grace flower, her finger stopping on the bright magenta that created its filament. It had been him who had taught her the game. Her eyes lost focus, the blue thread reminder her of the color of his eyes before…
“Good news, we got word from Inquisitor Trevelyan.” Harding stated as she took a seat. “She says there’s reports of suspicious activity happening near Raven’s Brook. It’s not far from here. We should see if it’s connected to Solas.”
“Rabbit would be rolling her eyes at you for calling her Inquisitor Trevelyan like that,” Varric chuckled. “But you’re right. It’s worth checking out.”
“What about Neve?” Harding asked.
“I’ll go with you,” Fivren offered, slamming down what was left in her mug. “You might need backup. And Varric can…”
“I’ll head to Minrathous. Just don’t get yourselves killed all right?” He said with a smirk, his eyes giving away the concern he felt. He held up the deck of cards, “One more round before we call it night?”
12. An argument between Rook and the LI(s)
Fivren pinched the bridge of her nose as she sighed in frustration. Taash could be so indifferent about things sometimes, even things that felt important to her. “You can’t just say that!”
“Why not?” They countered, arms crossing their chest as they shifted on their feet. “What’s the big deal?”
“The big deal is that it isn’t a big deal but you’re making it into a big deal!”
“How exactly?” The qunari replied as their brows furrowed further.
“Because!” Fivren shouted, her arms throwing up in the arm in frustration. “All I said was that I like to sneak truffles to Assan and instead of seeing that I enjoy doing it and that Assan enjoys it and it helps us bond you have to give me a lecture about how feeding him too many truffles is a bad idea.”
“Well… it is,” Taash shrugged, their indifference seeming to grow.
“It’s not like I’m giving him a ridiculous amount of them. I’m talking like one, maybe two mushrooms every once in awhile.”
“I mean, I guess that’s not so bad. Just don’t spoil him because then he’ll expect it and if he doesn’t get enough he could act out and misbehave.”
Fivren sighed again, dropping into the sofa and allowing her head to fall into her hands as her elbows rested on her knees. She took a few deep breaths before Taash sat next to her, placing their hand on her back.
“Hey I’m sorry all right? I didn’t mean to make it like… a thing.”
“I was just telling you about my day and trying to be playful with you,” the dwarf replied in a soft yet stern voice.
“Oh, right,” they said letting their hand drop back to their lap. “Sorry.”
“It’s a good thing you’re adorable,” Fivren smirked, pushing into them with her shoulder.
Taash rolled her eyes, “Don’t get all mushy on me now.”
Fivren smiled, “I won’t.”
22. In Rook’s opinion, what’s the best meal Bellara prepared? And Lucanis?
Fivren really enjoys Lucanis’ seafood paella, especially if he uses shrimp but won’t hesitate to eat more than her fair share no matter how he prepares it. For Bellara, Fivren really enjoys her forest fruit cobbler. It often changes depending on the fruits that Bellara manages to find during her travels but she always grabs seconds.

5, 10 and 15 from the fifty more rook qs if you’re taking them!
They are not immune to the double whammy that is Davrin and Assan together. Honestly, they were very much not expecting it to happen, but spending time with them at the forest, suddenly Alios thought to themself that ‘oh I want this for me, I would kill to keep this safe’
10. A spicy scene between Rook and their LI(s)
When everyone is doing their own things away from the Lighthouse maybe celebrating a post-game win, they get to spend the night together in Davrin’s room and they don’t need to hide (because yknow there’s the whole entire wall being an open window where everyone can hear what goes on inside and they’re tired of spending the night on that sad couch in the meditation room)
15. Who else has a crush on Rook?
I’m sure there were a handful of mourn watch apprentices who would longingly pine after the force of nature that is Rook in all their rumpled scrubs and loud quips. At the Lighthouse though? I don’t think anyone else did, because pretty early on, they were blatantly flirting with just Davrin. Everyone else had their own little crushes like Taash and Harding, Lucanis and Neve. Bellara was more their best friend and practically sister than anything, and Emmrich was a familiar taste of home but felt too much like one of their teachers for anything romantic to develop between them.
(50 more questions for Rook)
#my art#dragon age#datv#dragon age the veilguard#my OCs#Alios Ingellvar#davrin#Assan#rook#ask meme#i misssss them I’m like halfway through my crow rook playthrough and I just want to replay alios.

26, 36 and 46 from the fifty rook qs?
Aww thank you so much for the asks! I had a good time writing these ♥️
26. Rook is in charge of the grocery list. What’s on it?
Oh god, this is the moment Rook’s been fretting over ever since the team became THE team. She’s done her best to volunteer for other jobs, harder and worse jobs, just because of how much she hates grocery shopping. I hate to admit it, but she fails this task in every way possible. She drops the ball and doesn’t ask anyone what they need/expect from her and doesn’t check the “things to buy” list in the kitchen. Lucanis is really disappointed to see that she brings home a mix match of random meat, veggies, and fruits. He’d ask her what meals she had in mind when she was shopping and Rook just stares at him in fear because she sincerely did not know to plan ahead like that.
36. What would Rook say are their flaws?
Cooking and meal prep.
But also, probably fear and the tendency to make rash decisions because of fear (either to avoid it or assuage it). Despite her peppy, headstrong exterior, Rook is pretty familiar with being used and that lack of control drives a lot of her decision making. She was essentially forced into the Crows out of desperation and grief, so her drive to avoid fear makes her rash at times.
46. What does it take to earn Rook’s trust?
This was a surprisingly hard question because I think Rook functions in a weird trust grey-area where she doesn’t trust anyone but also chooses to see the best in most. This sort of ties back in to the last question and fear, she’s been forced to make desperate decisions and break trust (She lets Treviso get blighted despite being a Crow for example), which ultimately makes her understanding of most people’s motivations and unfortunately, a bit prone to thinking that each of us only looks out for ourselves.
I’d say the two people she trusts implicitly are Neve and Viago, and that came almost instantly upon meeting them. Maybe she can tell that they’re pragmatists and that makes her more likely to believe in them?

13, 33 and 43 from fifty more rook qs?
Thank you!!! Receiving this made my day and I love getting the chance to just lore drop my Rooks 🤗 I'm gonna do this for my main 2 Rooks because they are both fresh in my lil obsessed brain.
Questions and answers underneath!
13. What would Rooks LI(s) say are their flaws?
Ev'lyn isn't a very forthcoming person, I can imagine that would cause a lot of issues with communication. Lucanis wouldn't necessarily give her any grief for taking her time with opening up about certain topics or thoughts but it's something that has caused problems (post-game, also post-prison) because she just bottles. At least, in a way, Lucanis does have Spite to bounce off of but Ev'lyn will just shut herself away and not only is it terrifying for Lucanis to watch, he also has to deal with Spite loosing their goddamn mind because why is she not answering them?
Whether Axel is with Neve or Davrin, either of them would not appreciate Axel's ability to completely forget that he is a living breathing person and if he gets stabbed, it will hurt. The man knows they all know how to fight and yet is always getting himself hurt doing stupid shit like throwing himself in front of the team or taking on way too many Venatori when Neve is right there. She knows it comes from a place of love but by god does she rip into him for it. Davrin would be so pissed to see Rook act as though he doesn't matter after everything they went through. It's the one thing that causes the most issues in their relationship(s).
33. What does the Inquisitor think when they first meet Rook?
Cassius was impressed with Ev'lyn. She's smart and precise, has her head on straight and isn't afraid to question things. He's more than happy to offer her anything she needs and step back when required, he has other responsibilities after all.
Val thought Axel was a fucking moron kid. Hated him. Hated that he was the one going after Solas when Solas fucking lied to him for so long and he doesn't even get to deal with it? It takes him a while (and probably a couple of conversations with Dorian and Morrigan) to actually see the bigger picture and appreciate Axel for his skills and abilities.
43. What does Rook do if they can't sleep?
Ev'lyn trains. She runs obstacle courses she memorized as a child or she reads medical journals until her eyes feel like they're going to fall out of her head or her body is about to collapse from exhaustion. Healthy? Probably not. Works? Yes.
Axel knows he shouldn't but he will go looking for a fight. He's usually a pretty deep sleeper so the only times that he does have problems with that is nightmares and his emotional response requires action. In the lighthouse it was harder to sneak out but not impossible, there were many a moments where Neve or one of the others followed him into the crossroads and watched his back.

13, 23 and 33 from the fifty rook qs?
omg u werent kidding about sending asks to everyone holy shit. thank u for saving me from airport boredom
13. Did Rook bring any trinkets/sentimental items to The Lighthouse?
my rook lazăr truly is a crow by nature. likes his shiny trinkets. i think he carries an ornamental/for show only knife from viago around as a good luck charm. he's got a leather bracelet hand stamped/designed from his mom that he's kept since he was a child (it doesn't fit anymore but he keeps it anyway), and he has a whole box of silly impulse buys from cities he's visited: little game pieces, weird rocks, currency and coin, religious tokens
23. What does Rook wear in the off hours? Do they like dressing up?
in game i've stuck to the default crow outfit so far, it's just so cute and he looks great in it ❤️
most his casual clothing is very practical leatherwear from treviso. he likes expensive and handcrafted stuff, but what he actually wears entirely depends on "what's actually clean" because everything he buys has intense care instructions. must have hidden knife pockets
once he's more comfortable with the gang, he wears loose and colorful tunics with embroidery all over, shorts, and silly little slippers. loves stealing davrin's shirts (i think he ends up sleeping in his room more often than not so that's the most practical option)
33. What do fear demons look like to Rook?
i forget what in game demon it is but you know that one enemy that makes the arena go dark and keeps your party from helping you? yea probably that. the isolation scares him so bad
if not that: maybe an abstract monster with too many limbs that crawls around and chases him?
fear demons are most likely to ask him if he feels like he actually belongs-- if he doesn’t think the crows don’t see him as a vulture or cuckoo. they'd prey on his insecurity as a leader too because he only stepped up out of necessity. “theyll see your incompetence before you ever do. no one really trusts you”

5, 10, 15 from fifty more rook qs if you’re doing em!
I’ve got two Rooks now (a mother and daughter pair), so I’ll answer for them both!
Left is Phryne Ingellvar (Reaper Warrior), right is Elke Ingellvar (Death Caller Mage)
Fifty (more) Rook questions!
Five. Who does Rook romance? What was the moment that sparked their interest?
Phryne romances Emmrich. A part of it is she feels the rest of the companions are too young (Phryne is 58 years old), but at the start she found Emmrich rather dashing. His intelligence and competency in his field further added to that initial attraction. Him waxing poetic in front of a display of corpses about how life is fleeting and one should live their lives to the fullest really cemented the “oh, I can’t NOT fuck him”.
Elke romances Davrin. At first she thought he was just a tough talking brute, but she softened after seeing how hard he was trying with Assan. She’s a mother to a teenaged boy, so she could relate to his frustration while also giving him some gentle advice.
Ten. A spicy scene between Rook and their LI(s):
Phryne and Emmrich are an extremely tactile couple, so they’ve always got a hand on each other at all times. Sometimes those hands wander… I like imagining a scenario where Emmrich is looking for a book and Phryne just comes up behind him, hugging him around the waist. It’s all very cute, until her hands start drifting lower; ten minutes later, Phryne’s back is against the bookcase for support while Emmrich puts those magic fingers of his to work between her legs. >:3c
Elke and Davrin are much more reserved, in comparison. Elke is very orderly and prim, so she hates looking disheveled and out of sorts… so naturally Davrin loves seeing her like that. He’ll rile her up with some flirting and teasing, until she comes storming into her room, eyes wild, and then he’ll smirk as she pushes him down onto the floor and has her merry way with him.
Fifteen. Who else has a crush on Rook?
Phryne has always been known locally as a MILF and later GILF lmao. She had a ton of young Watchers hot and bothered as she made her rounds in the Necropolis. She has a long list of ex-flings (never any serious relationships until Emmrich came along) as well. Maybe Strife looked at her and Emmrich and debated asking if they were looking for a third lmao.
Elke inherited the MILF gene from her mother, but she was too uptight and rigid for people to develop an attraction to her beyond physical. It also doesn’t help that she didn’t have a lot of friends lol. When she joins the Veilguard, I like to think Lucanis is briefly attracted to her but knows she’s turned off by Spite, so he moved on quickly.

19, 29 and 39 from the fifty more rook qs?
thank you! i answered 39 right here, but i'll answer the other two for ya!
[the ask game in question]
[my Rook, real name Valonril, also Val, I use all 3 interchangeably]
19. A scene from book club (or another group activity):
I like the little notes entries, so I want to write a fake codex entry like that:
Notes for our fifth book club meeting Attending: Emmrich, Bellara, Harding, Neve, Rook, Lucanis Book: Phantomsong by Veronika Grabner (chosen by Emmrich) Notes taken by: Bellara Notes: - Emmrich discussed how much better the depictions of spirits in this book were compared to the last one we read. Went on for several minutes. - Lucanis remarked that the demons depicted were accurate. Refused to elaborate. - Neve disliked the protagonist, thought her motivation didn’t make any sense. Thought the writing was “rambling.” - Rook enjoyed the mystery of the plot. Agreed the protagonist was pretty dull. - Bellara (me) thought the setting was interesting, but not fully explored. Found undead less creepy in this one. - Harding liked the action, but thought it was paced too slow. Described several action scenes she would have liked to see, in detail. Used up the rest of the hour. Dice rolled, Neve picks the next book.
29. Do the companions give Rook any gifts?
Yes! And I will tell them right now.
Once their relationship is established, Davrin carves him a little wooden statue. It’s the rook chess piece, of course, something he did really quickly just to be able to give him something. Val loved it, and he keeps it in his room to admire. Also I think the bouquet of Broma’s Bloom should have been a gift from your love interest (especially if you tease Antoine and Evka about it being a romantic spot come on now), so in my mind and heart, Davrin overhears Rook teasing the couple about this and brings him the flowers himself. He loves these too, both for the gesture and because he has even more reason to torment Davrin about being a goopy romantic sap. And if I’m really sad, he kept his promise not to split anymore logs while Rook was trapped in the Fade Prison… but he start a memorial statue for him, like his fallen comrades from Weisshaupt. He’s relieved that he never got to finish it.
Harding and Rook spent the longest time together among any of the companions by far, and she knows what goes in his HRT potion by now. Despite his protests that she really doesn’t need to, he can buy them at any market, she starts growing a few of the easier plants for him. Now he has even fresher ingredients, and also tears up a little.
Bellara goes out of her way to cook Dalish food for him whenever he mentions a craving he has. It’s one of the best gifts he can think of, and really helps him find some kind of balance between homesickness and his many complicated feelings about what being Dalish means right now. Their gods might be evil, but at least the food still fucks hard!!!!!
Taash… feels like they should probably thank Val for helping out with their gender stuff. But, like, they already said thanks, and they aren’t any good at gifts, so whatever. But they know Rook is really particular about cleaning his armor and weapons, so I don’t know, maybe he could use a new polish? So they pick it up for him, and he’s very touched. I can also imagine them boiling down some dragon tallow (not from the blighted ones obviously, maybe the high dragon they fight in Arlathan).

7, 17, 27, 37 and 47 from the fifty more rook qs for both your rooks pls!
@spookyvalentine thank you for your ask! <3 <3 <3
7. How does their romance start?
With Emmrich, Tal is innocent and sweet, and they start slow together. Emmrich is Tal's first, and Tal will be Emmrich's last, and they both know this. In a word, what they have together is gentle. If he were an NPC, Tal would definitely respond with surprise and almost giddy pleasure if flirted with, and shyly ask if the player wanted something more to lock in the romance. There'd definitely be a ton of cuddling.
With Davrin, Declan turns around Davrin's "thrill of the chase" comment, implying that he'll be the one hunting Davrin instead of the other way round, and winking at him. From the beginning, there is passion between them. If he were an NPC, Declan would respond playfully and gamely to flirtatious options, but locking in the romance would be surprisingly sincere, with Declan admitting a strong desire to live, to avert the Calling and just find some peace with someone he loves... and he hopes that might be the player.
17. Any companions they don’t get along with? How does Rook navigate this?
Tal and Harding have a rough start. He's so foreign to her that she can't find anything to mirror or play off of, and thus doesn't really feel comfortable around him until he spends more time with the group and showing off his sense of humor. Tal knows she doesn't like him all that much and doesn't push, giving her the space she needs and to engage him at her own discretion.
Declan is an undisputed commander, leader of an elite group of Wardens enhanced and bolstered by Warden Avernus' findings. As such, you'd never catch him openly disliking a member of his squad. Luckily, he meshes well with the party, without many disputes.
27. Dorian’s opinion of Rook:
Far too young. The boy is far too young, and after working with the Child of Andraste, Dorian hates the idea of putting another young man in danger while he must take a sideline. But the world is cruel and has never taken Dorian's feelings into account, so needs must. Taliesin is wise for his age, and intelligent, but he is unused to the world. Dorian underestimates him, fears for him, and keeps his distance.
Dorian makes a note to himself. Ensure that the Iron Bull finds out about this redheaded giant who might just be as tall as him. It would be a sight to see them both... in the same room... perhaps shirtless and grappling. Dorian appreciates his steadfastness, though he is shocked that Declan is a competent orator and statesman in his own right. And a mage? With those biceps? Brains and brawn... perhaps he ought to test this man out himself before bothering Bull with this...
37. Who does Rook find themself turning to for advice?
Tal does love and respect Emmrich, but it's Neve he turns to for advice. Well, her and Varric, who Tal very quickly starts to see as a father figure, having had little to no such influence growing up in the Necropolis. Neve is probably the first person besides Varric to care about him as himself, not Speaker of the Dead, or Taliesin Ingellvar, the grave child born and raised in death. Neve truly becomes like a big sister to him and he comes to her for help, happily giving it in turn.
Declan is, bar Emmrich and perhaps Lucanis, likely the most experienced member of the Veilguard and doesn't often find himself relieving the burden of the chains of command. I can see him maybe chatting with Lucanis about his struggles, but I think he takes more solace with Davrin. They often sort out their various frustrations with a sparring session in a ring where the main statue decoration is placed at the Lighthouse, often grappling shirtless while everyone else pretends not to watch. It helps.
47. A scene at the Lighthouse while Rook is still trapped in the Fade:
It is an irony that only Tal could appreciate that the Lighthouse is nearly as silent as the grave without him there. Despite his quiet step, his still posture, the place does not sing without his vibrant laughter, his chatter with the wisps and spirits that pass through simply to visit him, and the groans at his silly jokes.
Emmrich is especially terse and worried, anxiety etched on his face. He uses magic to hold a chunk of raw lyrium in place as Davrin angrily hammers at it as if it will give Taliesin back.
Bellara has the blueprints for the dagger held up so that Emmrich can direct Davrin's blows. Assan curls up on the couch in Tal's room, squawking in a way no one wishes to describe as mournful. Manfred wobbles around with tea to everyone, although Lucanis has taken to climbing high up, as if he could see across the Fade to scout for him. Harding and Taash and Neve keep up the news from Thedas, coordinating and trying to figure out a next move - no one wants to suggest that Tal might not be back. He's the youngest of them all, and not getting him back is not even a possibility.
They WILL find him.
"Stop that." Davrin sighs loudly as Assan insists on looking under Davrin's bed, presumably for Declan. The poor griffon had been looking with increasing repetition and agitation for Declan.
"He's... away." Davrin grunted. Assan made a loud, questioning squawk.
"He'll be back. He's a tough one. A fighter. The best damn Grey Warden out there. So stop worrying." Davrin insists. A little too forcefully. Something catches in his throat, his voice breaking. Assan moves closer, pushing his head into Davrin's lap. And Davrin lets him, this time.
If a Grey Warden should let loose a few of his tears with none but his griffon to see, what harm would it do?

28, 38 and 48 from the fifty rook qs?
Thank you for asking!! c: 48 answered here.
(Rook Questions)
28. Does Rook have any pets/animal companions?
She does not! I hc that the Mourn Watch has tomb cats to control any rat populations, but those belong collectively to the watch and not her. After the events of the game, I like to imagine that she gets a ridiculous little cairn terrier to run around with her. Actually. Now that I have typed that, I have a really devastating fic idea about her receiving a dog as a gift. So thank you!!
38. Did Rook have any relationships before Veilguard?
Answered here and here, but I will add a bit more.
Lenore and her roommate, Edeline, had a very unhealthy relationship for most of the two years they lived together. By the end of it, Edeline had stolen her work enough times that Lenore was often writing decoy essays to hide in her desk, completing factually false projects to leave in the open, and avoiding Edeline during her lab hours.
Because she stole one such report and was incapable of defending her faulty results in front of a panel of professors, Edeline was not accepted into the ranks of the Mourn Watch. Lenore broke things off the day she moved out, Edeline was stationed elsewhere in Nevarra as a mortalitasi, and the two never spoke again.
#Lenore: thank you for professionally censuring my crummy ex and freeing me from having to work with her forever.#Emmrich: Pardon. I may have misheard. 3, 13, 23 and 33 from the fifty rook qs?
Thanks for the ask and for creating the questions in the first place.
3. What was Rook’s life before their faction?
Fallon lived a fairly quiet life before joining the Shadow Dragons. As a mage their studies were a great time sink, which they happened to enjoy greatly. Even after becoming a full mage, they've continued learning more just for learning's sake. Fallon also spent time with their family when able to and otherwise kept a low profile. They were fairly on top of what's happening in Tevinter due to their family and just trying to stay updated but didn't join the Shadow Dragon until much later.
13. Did Rook bring any trinkets/sentimental items to the Lighthouse?
They brought a modestly decorated pocket knife that they sometimes carry around with them. It was a gift from their father when Fallon completed the majority of their studies. It's a promise that their family is there to support them and, in an emergency, some way to possibly protect themself if Fallon's magic happens to fail them for any reason.
23. What does Rook wear in the off hours? Do they like dressing up?
Fallon likes to be comfortable. Soft fabrics, maybe something flowy, nothing restrictive like for example leather. They prefer mostly cotton and silk and also wool knitwear when it's colder. Despite this, Fallon also likes dressing up when the occasion calls for it as long as the materials are still easy to move in.
33. What do fear demons look like to Rook?
I thought about this for a bit and I think Fallon would see faceless Venatori or slavers in general. They definitely aren't blind to what's happening in Tevinter, especially to elves. It's most of the reason why they've been so fine with kind of disappearing into the background, to draw as little attention to themself as possible. Fallon can only imagine what would happen if they were to slip up and get captured.

20, 30 and 40 from the fifty rook qs if you’re takin em
Thank you!!! 50 Rook Questions! Answering for my main Rook, Cyrus, who is also my Varric-mancing Hawke, for shenanigans reasons...
20. What’s it like to see them smile? Their laugh?
Cyrus' smile is award winning, the biggest toothiest warmest grin you've ever seen, just an instant ray of sunshine and reassurance. His laugh comes in two phases: giggle-snort and then full-belly, full-chest uproarious guffaw. Also infectious and comforting. Cyrus is a bit more reserved in his older age, and given the apocalyptic circumstances, it takes time to feel comfortable enough & relaxed enough with the Veilguard to smile & laugh with his full heart, but as he begins to open up, everyone comes to covet that warmth.
30. What is Rook’s class? Did they choose it?
Answered here
40. Describe Rook’s bed: (under the cut for some implied spoilers)
One of the very first things Cyrus does is get a proper bed into the meditation chamber-- four post, velvet curtains, a sufficiently contoured and supportive mattress for his back pain, silk sheets and warm blankets from Clan Morlyn. He takes his sleep hygiene very seriously, after all... Until he realizes he won't ever get to share this bed--or any other--with Varric again. And then it feels empty & lonely. He'd cuddle up with Lace (his Veilguard LI) instead, but the lyrium poisoning puts that off the table, so a lot of nights, despite the detriments to his health, he just curls up on the couch instead.

Ofc! Thanks for asking 😁 love the excuse to talk about my Rook! His name is Remy, he’s a Grey Warden, and he romances Emmrich. Under the cut because minor spoilers ig
13. What would Rook's LI(s) say are their flaws?
Emmrich thinks that Remy’s confidence can be a flaw at times because it can make it a little harder for Remy to see other points of view. Also his lack of care for eating properly, and his tendency to put other people in front of himself.
33. What does the Inquisitor think, when they first meet Rook?
My Inky (Lassie Lavellen, male, romanced Dorian (and Cullen technically xD)), saw some of himself in Remy when he first met him, so young and suddenly thrust into a position of power with people questioning him. He’s impressed by Remy too, he knew Remy’s Grey Warden Uncle and he thinks the man would have been proud of who Rook has become. Honestly wishes they had met in different times because he thinks they could be friends, but knows Northern Thedas is in good hands with Remy.

43. What does Rook do if they can’t sleep?
Tabitha reads! She's never slept well being a Grey Warden, but with several Archdemons wandering around her dreams are even worse.
She'll raid the library and settle down with a good book! The more she learns about her enemies the better prepared she can be.
Once she starts to get close to Emmrich, she'll go into his room and chat to him. She loves learning all about the spirits of the Necropolis, plus Emmrich is a calming presence for her and she can sleep better.
When he's not around she'll sometimes hangs out with Davrin and Lucanis and chat stories!

4, 14 and 24 from the fifty (more) rooks qs?
4. What does Solas think of Rook?
I leaned very hard into Rook being a lot like Solas. So, he sees a lot of himself when he was younger, but also not? On a surface level they’re very parallel. Both fighting an oppressive system right subjugate them. Both having mixed feelings about it because it’s their home and they love it, but it’s so fractured and wrong. The main difference between the two is Kataleya never plays god. She doesn’t willingly sacrifice people, or entire like platoons. She doesn’t believe in “by any means necessary”, and firmly believes there’s always a choice. I think Solas (initially) sees this as a weakness, and wants to push her to be more like him. Like he can see she’s in the track but she isn’t there and she can’t “be the leader” until she is there, if that makes sense. She’s also very mouthy towards him in the beginning and I think this annoys him, but also he admires it. Like even if he doesn’t see himself as a god he’s stupid powerful and she’s all but giving him the finger so LMAO. But yeah, he has a very unintentional begrudging mentor-ly attitude towards her.
14. Do any romances bloom between the other Veilguard companions? What does Rook think of the pairings?
I have two other ocs so far for Neve and Emmrich. Neve is going to be romanced by Kat’s estranged Crow half-sister, Nymira. and she’s actually very happy about it lol. Neve and Nymira very much start off on the wrong foot. Neve is also Kat’s best friend throughout the course of Veilguard, so she really didn’t like mediating between the two. When they get together she’s like wasn’t on my bingo card but i’ll take it?
Emmrich is romanced by my oc Sienna. She’s a Mournwatch Mage that Kataleya met when she was still training under her father to be his heir. Shes who trained her in necromancy and Kataleya…did not care for it lol. Anyway, Sienna romances Emmrich and tbh Kataleya respects it lol. She respects Sienna for going after what she wants, and she respects Emmrich’s insane game lmao. Tbh i think she’s very protective of them both? She thinks they’re really cute and wants nothing bad to happen to them ever. I think she’s probably one of the first to be 100% supportive of them. She trusts both of their judgement implicitly. Kataleya takes a minute warm up to people, and to trust, but with these two it was like she couldn’t help but make space for them in her heart tbh.
24. What were the thoughts going through Rook’s head, at D’Meta’s Crossing? What did they decide to do with the mayor?
Honestly? She was terrified. I don’t think she’s ever had experience with blight or dark spawn ever in her life so to be faced with this? It chilled her to the bone. I think what really got her is she couldn’t think of a way to fix it. In Tevinter, there’s always a big bad she can get to with a well-timed spell, slaves she can free to hurt their pockets, and Venatori to bleed to hurt their moral. But this was just so far beyond her, like she’s resolved to fix it because she has to but she doesn’t have a clue how in the beginning. And she absolutely leaves his ass to rot, and then kills him later when he turns. The way he used the Dalish as pawns for the promise of gold? Absolutely not. She would die before lifting a finger to help him tbh.

3 and 4 from the fifty more rook qs
I'm gonna use my Veiljumper Rook, Eleanor, for this, I think. Thank you for sending this in. :)
3. Eleanor's first impression on meeting Solas is disbelief. She's a little bit scared too, because her mother used to tell her about the dread wolf. How he would appear in her dreams if she didn't finish her dinner when she was a kid.
But now an adult, Eleanor finds herself tense, uncertain. Because he is much taller and more confident than she is. Towering over her as she trembles a bit in her boots. He has every right to blame her for the gods getting out, but he's just as responsible. Still she can't help but not meet his gaze. She's not a coward, but Eleanor doesn't want to anger him. He is a wolf after all.
4. Solas is angry at first because this foolish girl interrupted his ritual. It's not until their in the fade that his resolve and heart soften just a little. She is terrified. And the way she casts her eyes down and fidgits reminds him of the slaves he has freed. When Eleanor tells him her mother is Dalish, and that they both had been slaves, he switches to Elvan, and is impressed that not only she can follow along but speak it well. He asks her questions, and she reminds him a bit of himself. She wmjoys the company of spirits. Perhaps there is hope for this half dalish woman to save the world .

17, 37 and 47 from the fifty more rook qs?
From this question list:
17. Any companions they don’t get along with? How does Rook navigate this?
Ethiriel struggled with making connections with Taash because of their blunt nature, but slowly grew endeared to it. The two fought a dragon and had some common ground to stand on, and it made interacting a little easier.
37. Who does Rook find themself turning to for advice?
The companion Ethiriel would turn to for advice is Neve. Neve, to Ethiriel, has a good sense of direction and can look at things objectively (in a sense).
47. A scene at the Lighthouse while Rook is still trapped in the Fade:
This one took me a while to think of, considering I have a plan to write a Veilguard fanfic. I wanted to answer this ask with one of my many ideas for it, from the POV of a companion oc (and completely ignoring the Davrin/Harding choice).
Ethiriel had vanished from Tearstone Island weeks ago.
Most of the team had made it back in one piece. Harding was nursing her wounds while Emmrich and Bellara were working together to find ancient artifacts that could navigate the Fade. Neve heard from the Shadow Dragons that Solas was there, working to help slow down Elgar’nan and the Blight. Dorian hadn’t been too amused by it, from the way Neve told it.
Taash and Davrin had taken over cooking duties, a disaster that no one seemed to complain about with everyone focused on trying to find a way to bring Ethiriel back from the Fade.
She hadn’t seen Lucanis since, he stayed inside the pantry the first few days after they made it back from the island. Manfred sometimes would croak a “Rook” before wandering into the kitchen, probably looking for Spite.
She did see him once, when walking past Ethiriel's room while helping Emmrich bring some books for Bellara to look through.
“Where. Is. Rook?” Spite asked, standing in the middle of the hall but never crossing past the threshold. Minharis didn’t know what to say to Spite, that was more Ethiriel’s thing than hers.
“She is away for the moment, Spite.” Emmrich had reassured Spite, carefully patting Lucanis on the shoulder. “We will find her and bring her back… We must.”
