#fic writer ksh au

I bet ksh wrote the "what if Lloyd wasn't a useless drunk" fic right after ppl who read the "Lloyd dies at the beginning and everyone is better off bc of it" fic accused him of hating Lloyd's character lmao. Just to be like "see i don't hate him (more than normal fans do)!" And then it started new discourse about the only palatable way Lloyd was avoiding death/getting significant screentime in his stories was if he was totally ooc lol
about this au
askhdjksah "see i don't hate the guy!" (<- wrote a completely different guy with the same name)
some people accused him of character bashing and even when most of his readers pointed out that he wasn't writing anything that wasn't either canon or completely in character, suho still decided to see if he could write a fic that involved lloyd frontera as a main character without being an antagonist. and it turned out it was really fucking hard lol
so he just. changed a few things. couple little nothings.
the thing is i can kinda see suho. despising. lloyd's character alskhkda
is just that. the guy has everything he would kill for. he has his parents, a little brother, financial stability and a potential loyal friend right there and he wastes all of it by being a complete bastard. he would want to wring his neck sooo bad ajkskda
maybe in a particular bad night when he misses his parents, feels really lonely and only had one cup of ramen to eat the entire day, he reads a part of tkbi where lloyd acts especially nasty and gets really bitter so he writes a rant fic about how things would've been so much better if lloyd had just died and stopped making his family miserable.
once he gets it out of his system, he probably feels a bit embarrassed about how angry the fic turned out but he does see a glimmer of a good idea there so he turns it into a tamer version of an outline, where he strips away most of the raw emotion and changes it into a bittersweet tale of how the death of someone irrevocably changes the lives around them in ways that sometimes aren't predictable.
it's not even a "he died and everyone was happy about it" fic as that would be 1) in bad taste and 2) not in character. it would've been more about how lloyd's death paralyzed the fronteras so much in their shock and grief that some key events in their downfall would've been missed. how the absence of abuse would've allowed julian to flourish onto himself even as he dealt with mixed feelings about the way he feels about his older brother and whether he wishes to forgive him now that he's dead but can never make amends to him. like. that kinda thing.
and because it turns into a genuinely good fic it escapes containment from ksh's usual readers circle and ends up being a hot topic into the general fandom.
which is divided between those who think is a very bittersweet fic that doesn't bash the character but does point out his canon actions and depicts his death as tragic while acknowledging the consequences both bad and good it has. and those who think it's still in poor taste to write something that basically boils down "if he died everything would've been okay" and point out the narrative itself does carry heavy negativity against lloyd.
it is. messy.
suho isn't really affected by the criticism he gets but he does try not to project too hard onto his fics and some called out it almost seems personal so he kinda panics and writes something that deflect the accidental emotional vulnerability that slipped through and writes the other fic and he even makes lloyd suffer just a little bit in this one. compared to what the fic would actually be if he was being more honest. it is after all an attempt at making it seem like he doesn't hate the guy (more than normal that is) lol
of course that fic starts other kind of discourse but! i do see lloyd being a divisive character in the fandom in general, a lot of people would really dislike him based on his abuse on julian, his meanness to javier and the contempt he shows for his parents, but i can also see some people woobifying him and thinking he just needed some,,, idk, love ig?? (*cough* ignoring the fact he had a family that loved him and he alienated by his behavior *cough*). so the discourse that ensues after his second fic is less targeted to him and more in line with the discourse that would surround og!lloyd anyway so it's fine.
i also kinda love the idea of suho being the kind of cryptid writer that doesn't really leave author notes or has any online presence besides their ao3 notes. so he just drops the most compelling pieces of fiction people have read in the entire year and then vanishes again, only replying to nice comments with a "thanks!" or "happy you liked it :)" and a "👍🏽" or "ok" to assholes.
so he drops his "Lloyd dies at the beginning and everyone is better off bc of it" fic, drops from the face of earth to everyone else, sees the discourse it starts, writes the "what if Lloyd wasn't a useless drunk" fic, drops it and then sees an even bigger discourse start all without commenting a single thing about it askjdksa
he drops two consecutive atomic bombs on the fandom and then dips out. he has two jobs he's got no time for disk-horse after all aksdjkla
#hey i got an ask#Anonymous#tged#the greatest estate developer#kim suho#fic writer ksh au#i. didn't mean for this to be so long. oh my god.

fandom au where amongst the fanfic writers/artists for "the knight of iron and blood" who go all in on shipping javier/harem, javier/female oc, javier/alicia, javier/silurian, and javier/julian; writing 'what if javier was secretly evil/edgy' aus, and more, ksh is the gen longfic writer who generally sticks to canon but goes way too in depth contemplating the kinds of buildings and general infrastructure that the pseudo-medieval fantasy setting would have.
what's even better is that we know for a fact suho was in fact at the very least in an online forum about the novel!! he read discussions and theories about it and we all know theories are like two steps left from fanfiction <3
but oh my goddd,,, suho writing fanfic,,,, the possibilities,,,
akhskda i can totally see him being one of those authors that have really compelling premises with intricate plots and perfect characterizations but that you just,,, can tell they have a very detailed knowledge of a very particular branch of knowledge. y'know the kind. like he describes those bridges a little too long, those city walls a little too detailed just to be the typical 2 am wikipedia article binge.
and i can definitely seem him being more into exploring the world building and javier's character than being into the shipping aspect lmao
it's actually really neat, it's not very often, but every once in a while lloyd will stop and just,,, think about javier, about the kind of person he is, his sense of justice, of fairness, of kindness, just who he was as a character for him before and who he is a person for him now. and you can tell that even when it annoys him a bit because it interferes with his plans or it puts them in danger or simply because he thinks it's kind of stuck up, lloyd still likes all of that about him.
so i can see him writing character studies or like you said gen stuff that explores the characters rather than getting into the relationship aspect of fandom.
,,,, but he totally read y/n fics. at least once. just out of curiosity akjshdksa

ksh posted "how magentano city's buildings were built" and "what materials were used for the construction of cremo's pentinentiary? essay" on ao3
oh my god yeah!!
torn between thinking some people in the fandom would actually be really interested and be decently popular,,, and thinking they'd get like,,, 20 hits and maybe 5 kudos,,,, one person comments "awesome read. fell asleep halfway. haven't slept that well since i got knocked out for my gallbladder surgery 👍🏽"

i can also see suho writing at least a few "what if the count and his wife never died and Javier kept his family" aus. Just for self-indulgent reasons lmao. Maybe even some "Lloyd still dies but everyone else lives" or "what if Javier's birth family (basically ocs) never died and he got to still go on adventures" lol.
oh. oh that's. that's kinda sad :(
but like if we ignore the massive self-projection and wish fulfillment going on, i think that would actually be a pretty popular genre of fic in the hypothetical "the knight of blood and iron" fandom (i'm just gonna write tkbi now btw i'm tired ajkshdk). like we know in the webcomic that when the author killed off sillurian people were really incensed because it seemed like javier was really Going Through It at that point. and we all know nothing makes fandom more motivated than feeling like their favorite characters are being mistreated aksjhdjksa
and while it's also said that part of the appeal of tkbi is that javier is a very sad and lonely protagonist i have to imagine there's at least a good part of the fandom who wishes to see him get some comfort to offset all the hurt he goes through. so i think there's probably a healthy and thriving fix-it and hurt/comfort community that dedicates itself to write some nice fluffy fics (while also inflicting all new kinds of pain upon him but shhhh it's all good it's normal nothing to see here-)
maybe suho would gravitate more towards the fix-it fics end of the spectrum, instead of the hurt/comfort ones. he'd write these very elaborate aus that explore "what if"s and "for a want of a nail" plots that vary in their degrees of fluffiness but that are almost always about avoiding the early tragedies in javier's life. (eg 'what if javier met count cremo when he was younger', 'what if javier had an imaginary elf friend as a child except it isn't imaginary', 'what if it had been the baroness that rescued javier as a child', 'what if lloyd hadn't been an useless drunk', etc etc)
his habitual readers are always amazed by how detailed his aus can get and how much world building he does and explores, they especially like the ripple effect all of his fics have, how the smallest actions can have many consequences down the line, even if they do think he focuses too much on the beginning of the book when he could explore the latter chapters more. he never does romance and always writes family and friendly relationships and only includes the romantic leads as friends too. but overall his fics are pretty popular within that side of the fandom.
some people do think he has a bit of dislike towards lloyd frontera's character, which showed especially in his 'lloyd frontera dies in the beginning of the book and everything is better because of it' fic but he's otherwise pretty good at hiding it so it's not too much of a flaw. plus, lloyd is a bit of human trash overall :/
his 'the baron and baroness never died and thank's to javier's heroics they were saved from debt' fic is his most popular work but the 'javier's bio family never died' one is a close second. his 'the family still lost the estate but no one died and they all went on adventures' isn't quite as popular but it has a steady following.
there's one that almost doesn't get attention but that everyone that does read it agrees is probably his best one and it's a one shot, 15k, character study, memories, flashbacks, major injuries, implied major character death, open/ambiguous ending, bittersweet ending fic, with a summary that just says "javier is tired. he wants to go home. he can hear them. everyone is waiting for him" and leaves everyone who reads it both in tears and also half wondering if they should ask the author if they need them to pay for a couple therapy sessions (please he needs them so badly)
dang it i got carried away again jkashdksa but yeah! i do love the idea of fanfic writer kim suho i think it's very funny. and also him being a fix it fic writer means he already got a little bit of practice before being isekai'd lmaooo

now i'm thinking of a crack au where fic writer ksh transmigrated into the knight of iron and blood and everything basically goes the same way as canon except out of spite, lloyd publishes a novel (w the serial numbers filed off of course so he doesn't run into legal trouble w the now-very-real-ppl that he has to live w) where EVERYONE except the javier-expy gets a relationship. lloyd-expy gets a relationship w an oc. arcos-expy and marbella-expy's relationship is the backbone of the novel. bibeong-expy and bangul-expy are very happy together. javier-expy gets the shit kicked out of him by giga titan-expy's oc wife. no one ever confesses to javier-expy in novel-land, tho he has countless friends that he expresses contentment with. julian-expy and serazade-expy point and laugh at javier-expy bc altho he is attractive everyone is too scared to confess bc he is THAT hot.
javier mocks lloyd endlessly for making javier-expy more lloyd than the actual lloyd-expy, who ended up playing the snarky straight man to javier-expy's bumbling lack-of-relationship-forever-alone-ness.
ajskhdkahkda not the serial numbers filed off 😭
i do love the idea of lloyd writing his parents' expy's relationship as the backbone of the novel like that's so fucking adorable oh my goddddd
i see so many ways publishing that novel could backfire on lloyd lmao like it's not worth it my dude lol
