For the asks: L N Y! ^^
L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves. (Characters you’re neutral about are fair game, as are characters you merely dislike. Characters that you absolutely loathe with the fire of ten thousand suns are exempt, as there is no point in giving yourself an aneurysm over a character that you hate.)
Even though I ship satosugu a lot, geto isn't one of my favorites. I do like his depth and complexity as a villain though considering based on first impressions he seems over the top evil in a flat way. It gave more a new appreciation for anime villains as a whole because now I can better imagine what kinds of interesting arcs the characters could have that don't get shown on screen
N - Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice).
I don't know if I would call JJK my main fandom, but I definitely know I want more Yuuta fan made stuff like fics and gifsets \o/
Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (i.e., fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)?
It used to be akane banashi, dungeon meshi, and discworld, but I got into all those so they don't count anymore lmao and I'm also getting into the temeraire series because @darlingofdots posts about it (I bought the first novel so it on my tbr pile on the bookshelf next to my bed)
I think ace attorney is a big one though I feel like half my dashboard posts about it but I had no interest in it even though the posts are really funny
Thanks for the ask!! :D

Someone on Archiveofourown(named leogre) made a fanfic called “Because Everyobody Likes a Callback!”. In it, some infected students(Ryoma, Kaito, Tenko, and Kokichi) get the personalities of the characters they share a voice with(Gundham, Kazuichi, Ibuki, and Fuyuhiko). That made me think: “what if the first motive was that And they have to kill in order to be back to normal? And half of the students were the infected: Kaede(Kyoko), Angie(Aoi), Kaito(Kazuichi), Gonta(Yasuhiro), Kiibo(Hifumi), Miu(Akane), Shuichi(Leon), and Tsumugi(Chihiro)?” Thoughts? Also, you should read the fic. It’s really good!
I generally gravitate toward Kibo × Miu or Kokichi x Himiko fics.
Ensemble fics get pretty bloated quickly. The only one I've read all the way through was a black mirror inspired Kuzupeko fic (it made me cry).
If it's finished and is notp free I'll take a gander. But I've tried searching for it multiple ways and nothing comes up.

Beginning of a New Life
Finally I did another fic, but this one isn't for the Ghost AU
This one is for the "Akane is Saved by the Divine Luck" AU
Warning: LONG
She didn't knew how much time had passed.
She felt like she was floating in a void, unable to feel anything.
The only thing she remembered was the test she and Utsuro did with the Class 79.
Where she killed all of her friends.
And how, after taking a lethal attack from a Monokuma to save Rei, she tried to talk with him. Trying to know if "Yuki Maeda"'s memories were able to cause the compassion he lost after joining Ultimate Despair, the compassion that made him rescue her from that orphanage, to return.
And now, she was asking herself, was she dead?
She didn't knew.
---
The first thing she noticed was the faint pain in her limbs.
Then the burning light when she opened her eyes.
She immediately closed back her eyes, groaning after her attempts to move her arm to cover them just left her with a pained arm over her chest.
Before she fell unconscious again, she heard a voice at her side.
"Doctor! She's awake!"
---
After a day had passed, and she was able to stay conscious for more than a few minutes, Akane realized that she was in a hospital, being treated for her injuries.
How was she even alive? She was sure the Monokuma's attack should have killed her.
The doctors were as confused as her, calling her survival a miracle. They told her that her injuries should had been fatal, but something happened that caused the blood to stop flowing from the wound.
After she heard those words, she knew what really happened.
The Divine Luck saved her.
She remembered falling into the ocean, and Utsuro trying to reach her while he fell into the depths.
She was worried, what happened to Utsuro?
---
The doctors asked her about her name.
She decided to feign losing her memory.
Akane Taira was supposed to have died at the day the Reserve Course killed almost all the Ultimate Students, along the rest of Class 79.
Nobody should know that she was still alive.
Specially, after everything she did as a Despair.
---
They told her that she spent almost half a year in a coma.
A lot had changed since the end of her and Utsuro's Killing Game.
The TV was constantly showing news of the first victory the world had against the Ultimate Despair.
While she was unconscious, Junko started her Killing Game, with her classmates, the Class 78, as the victims.
But, even after her Killing Game caused the deaths of so many of them, she eventually executed herself after one of the survivors was able to convince the others to remain hopeful even in the face of the apocalypse.
His name was Makoto Naegi, and the world called him 'The Ultimate Hope'.
---
She could see the doctors and nurses pass by her room. She didn't care.
The only reason why she was there and not dead was because they didn't knew who she was and what she did.
She joined Ultimate Despair to be with her beloved master.
She killed a family to make him happy.
She helped him to start a Killing Game even though she didn't want to, just because she didn't want him to abandon her.
She sent her classmates and friends to their deaths, to the point only three remained.
And she still didn't knew where Utsuro was.
She was hoping that he was in another hospital, being treated for whatever injuries could have suffered.
The idea he abandoned her was too much to bear.
Her hair was becoming whiter.
---
Before she even discovered what happened to him, she noticed that something weird was happening.
She had woken up one day pretty hungry, but she didn't knew where the kitchen was, and her legs were still to weak for her to search for it.
Then, something happened outside that caused a bowl of soup to fall right onto her lap, without spilling any of its contents all over her.
She remembered that she saw the Divine Luck doing something similar once.
After similar events started happening, always after she had the feeling of wanting something, a theory started creeping on the back of her mind.
A theory she dreaded so much.
---
When she heard the news, she shut down completely.
Their bodies were finally discovered.
Even Utsuro's.
He died saving her.
He gave her the Divine Luck to save her, dying in her place.
She cried the entire night, and the day after that.
Then, she just felt numb.
She wanted to die. She wanted to be with him again in the afterlife, if something like that even existed, but she knew she wouldn't even be able to do it.
After that, Utsuro told her how the Divine Luck stopped him in the past.
She didn't had anything left. Ayame was dead, Utsuro was dead, and the three that were able to escape would kill her if they discovered that she was still alive.
Her skin was becoming paler.
---
The TV was talking about Makoto again.
Even though she never talked with him in the short time she spent within the Hope's Peak building, she was glad he was able to beat Junko.
Because, if it hasn't been for her, everyone would still be alive.
She was hoping Junko was rotting in hell.
---
One night, she made a decision.
She wanted to atone for what she did as a Despair.
Utsuro died to give her a new chance in life, and she wasn't going to spend it crying in despair.
The Divine Luck helped Junko with throwing the world into chaos, but now, she was going to do the opposite, using it to help everyone she could.
And there was a person she wanted to save above everything else.
---
After being discharged, she had to find clothes.
Her old maid dress ended up completely ravaged by the seawater, and the clothes the hospital gave her were too baggy.
Luckily, she found a wallet with money on the floor. She grabbed the money and left before someone noticed her.
It was enough to buy something to wear.
---
She stared at the reflection on the mirror.
Her hair had become completely white.
She wasn't worried. It just meant that people wouldn't recognize her so easily.
With a pair of scissors she was able to steal, she started cutting her hair.
---
She had finally arrived to the place.
A abandoned building, lost on the edge of the city.
She didn't knew if he was still alive.
She let the Divine Luck guide her to where he was.
Originally, the plan was kill all the Maeda family, him included, but Utsuro stopped her when she was going to stab him too, telling her that he would be of more use alive.
When she entered the room, she saw Yuki Maeda, still hooked at those machines, but more importantly, alive.
She started to work on getting him out of there.
---
She was able to transform that old warehouse into a cozy home, even if she knew that she was going to abandon it some day.
But, right now, she needed to take care of Yuki.
Having being fed with a intravenous slurry and the lack of movement has left him worryingly thin, and she didn't knew how bad the atrophy could be after a year.
But the thing she was most worried about was the idea of him never waking up.
---
He woke up three days after she rescued him.
She was in his room, about to check on him, when she heard him groan. She then realized that he was opening his eyes.
When his eyes adjusted to the light, he looked at her, and then, the room, in frightened confusion. The fact that he couldn't barely move thanks to his atrophied muscles didn't help.
"It's ok, you're safe"
After hearing her voice, he turned his head to look at her.
He was confused and shaken up, but it seemed like he didn't recognize her.
"What happened?" He said, with his voice hoarse from a year of not talking "Where I am?"
"You're in my house. I found you inside a building, comatose" She sighed "I think you were like this for a entire year"
Hearing her words, Yuki tried to stand up in alarm, but he barely moved his arms before his body gave up on the attempt. He looked at her in fear.
"I don't think you're going to be able to move, your muscles have atrophied from desuse"
"But, my mom. I have to fin-"
He couldn't finish what was saying before starting to cough. Akane went to get him a glass of water, but she was worried because of more than just the coughing.
How could she tell him that her mother was dead without revealing too much? After returning to the room with a glass of water, she tried to give him a explanation.
"I... don't know where is she" She sighed "But, I don't think she's alive. So much has happened while you were unconscious"
Not hearing any response from him, she continued.
"Last year, social unrest started to spread out on Japan, started by rumors that the famous academy of Hope's Peak was corrupt and was covering crimes happening inside its walls. After the apparent deaths of one of its classes in April, chaos and anarchy started to spread around the world, until a mob forced their way into Hope's Peak and killed almost everyone there, before killing themselves"
She stopped herself to take a shaky breath "This was the point of not return. Terrorists attacks, mass killings and more horrible crimes started happening everywhere, civilization collapsed right in front of us, and people started to fall into a 'Survival of the Strongest' mindset. Eventually, despair reigned supreme on the world, with the destruction it caused receiving the name of 'The Tragedy'"
She looked at him. His expression was one of shock. She knew it would be to much to process.
"I-it, it can't be..." He screwed his eyes shut "It can't be true, right?"
His eyes were pleading to not confirm his fears, but she just turned on the TV, showing reports of constant tragedy and crime. Two words were always repeated in those news: 'Ultimate Despair'.
After she turned off the TV, he was in complete terrified shock."The world you knew has ended, and the only thing we can do now is survive"
After not receiving any answer, she stood up and left the room.
---
She returned a bit later. When she opened the door, he moved his head to try to see her.
"I guess you're still processing what I told you"
A few seconds of silence passed before he answered her.
"I-it's just... I can't believe something so horrible had happened"
He looked to the window, covered with old, broken curtains that showed a bit of the perpetually red sky "One day, I was in my home, thinking about my future on Hope's Peak, and by the next, the apocalypse has happened and I'm stuck in a bed, unable to move"
Akane cringed after he mentioned Hope's Peak. He only won the Ultimate Lucky Student Lottery because Utsuro willed to. To be able to enter Hope's Peak, he needed to steal the identity of someone similar enough in appearance to him, and Yuki was the unfortunate victim.
"You... were going to be in Hope's Peak?" She said, faking the most surprised voice she could do.
"Yeah, but..." He furrowed his brow "I feel like there's something that I can't remember..."
"You wouldn't want to remember it"
"Huh? You were saying something?"
Shit, she was thinking out loud? She shaked her head "Sorry, I was talking to myself. I'm going to get you dinner"
She left the room, flustered.
---
She returned to the room with a plate of soup. She felt that, even with the help of the Divine Luck, Yuki's stomach wouldn't be able to handle anything that wasn't liquid.
She helped him to sit on the bed. It was clear that, until he regained his strength and mobility, he wasn't going to be able to do anything.
She sat alongside him to help him eat, when he stared talking.
"What happened to me? Why I was in a coma for so long?"
Her lower lip quivered.
"Because Master Utsuro needed your identity for the mission. Because I followed his orders and I killed your mother. Because we needed you gone"
"I believe it was the Ultimate Despair, it looks like something they would do"
"Ultimate Despair..." He gave the TV a glance "Those news you showed me before were also talking about them" He looked at her "Who are they?"
"A terrorist group. They were the ones who masterminded the Tragedy"
"What!?" His expression was a mix of confusion and horror "They caused all that!?" He couldn't really gesture, but she knew that he was referring to the news she had showed him.
"Yes"
"But why they went after me? I'm just..." His voice dropped a bit while his expression became sad "...a normal boy"
"Don't try to find a reason why. The only thing they care about is causing despair, both to themselves and to the world" She could still remember the warm blood of Aiko Maeda on her body "And they will do anything to make sure everything is covered by it"
A tense silence followed, being finally broken when Yuki talked.
"Thanks for saving me"
Her eyes widened in surprise.
"From what you said, those Ultimate Despair sound like they're horrible people" After hearing that comment, Akane pressed her lips, guilt in her eyes "I don't know what they could have done to me if you didn't rescued me"
"I don't know it either. I never knew what Master Utsuro would have done to you if the test had been successful"
She sighed "I'm not sure either, but the important part now is that you're safe"
"Yeah, you're right"
He furrowed his brow slightly, thinking about something. "I don't think I've told you my name"
"You have been awake just for some hours"
His face went red for a moment "Y-you're right" He smiled at her. Even with his gaunt face, it was a conforting sight "My name is Yuki Maeda"
She already knew his name, but he didn't knew that. She had to make sure he never knew that.
"What's yours?"
His words took her by surprise. She couldn't tell him her real name, what if it caused him to remember? She had to think something fast.
"My name? Well..." She had to think fast.
Wait! Utsuro's name could be pronounced also as 'Sora' "My name is Sora..." Great, she now has to think of a surname. Yuki is looking at her, confused.
What was the family name of that orphanage caretaker? Oh yeah! "Sato! My name is Sora Sato, but you can call me just Sora"
"Sora..." He repeated. His expression became grateful "I'm sorry for repeating myself, but thank you, Sora"
Akane smiled, even though the smile didn't reached her eyes.

"s/o...I already told you! You will never know when-"
"we've been in three years relationship, nagito! Your luck didn't affect me! You should stop worrying about this!" You bit bottom for your lips, glaring at him. Your eyes became watery, you wanted to cry.
"you'll never understand how I feel when they died in front of me! Losing someone that I love, that I care about. I don't want that to happen again!"
"nagito! We've been through that together! Are you forget about that?!"
He flinches and back away a little, he made a mistake. A big mistake.
"s-s/o— i-i—" "forget about this. I'm sick of this, we've been fighting for one and a half hours, and I'm done, you win, nagito komaeda." Nagito back away little by little again and collapse to the ground.
"you're using my full name..."
"i know"
"you...must be real mad at me."
"mhm"
Nagito eyes widened and he realizes that his tears are dropping, nagito quickly wipe them away and get up, not looking at you.
Everybody that hearing this fight between you and nagito seems....guilty and sad, even hiyoko and fuyuhiko. "Hey, what should we do?" Chiaki begins to whisper.
"we..should leave them alone, for now. And check both of them tomorrow." Hajime glances back at you two, "let's go." And then everybody leaves.
"they eavesdropping on us, didn't they." He sighs, "unfortunately, yes." Nagito still didn't look at you. You tighten your fist and clench your jaw.
"i. I'm sorry.." "you don't need to say sorry, komaeda." He flinches, nagito felt his heart slowly losing apart, "maybe the last hug would be great.." you said to him, looking at the ground with arms open, waiting for him to hug you.
He hugs you tightly, securing you in place, not letting you go. He got distracted by you saying that.
Tumblr media
In the next two days, things getting worse...
You and nagito ignoring each other, at breakfast, whenever you see each other while walking exploring the island, everything. Nagito only eat a bit and head out, Hajime we're concern so he asks him, and nagito said "oh, I'm not hungry, and you shouldn't worry about me."
His self-degrading becomes worse. Also, you rarely see Nagito outside.
The two days were hell for you both.
And then this happens on the third day.
"why are we gather around again?" You ask.
"well, the future foundation needed us to help them." Hajime explains "we will be fighting the remaining of monokuma's, and make the city better again." Hiyoko whines "ugghhh, that would be a lot of woorrkkkss!" "But, we have to help them, for what they do to us, for what they've done to return us to hope instead of despair." "Ugh, now you bring that! Fine!" Hiyoko murmurs something.
We wait until the boats arrived, and it this, not long enough. As we got into the boat, three people were waiting for us, it was Makoto naegi, kyoko kirigiri, and Byakuya togami.
"Welcome back, seniors!"
We all smiled at them, Makoto and Hajime shaking hands, "we ready to risk our lives." "Oh no, we don't hope you guys to die! I'm sure you guys will do great, we already prepare the gun, come!"
We follow Makoto to the inside of the boat. "W-Woah...." We were all amazed by so many weapons. Gun, ak-47, flamethrowers, grenades, dynamite, swords, and many more.
As everyone selects their weapon, this one weapon got my interest. A scythe. A red one, I pick it 'it's not heavy as it looks..nice.' "oh! (L/n), great choice!" I jumped a little, "oh, thanks, naegi." I awkwardly laugh.
As I observe the scythe, I feel two— I mean four pairs of eyes looking at me, I shrug the feelings away and continue to observe.
"you guys already pick yourself weapons right? Let's train a little so it's doesn't you!" Everyone agrees and follows Makoto, again.
We train a little, yes. A little. Mikan constantly trips. Ibuki almost shot Akane. Teruteru... I don't want to talk about it. Hiyoko accidentally burns her kimonos. Chaos. Also, Hajime spilled his orange juice.
We take a break from the train, give ourselves a drink, I decided to talk to Hajime, "yo Hajime, how was training?" "It was chaos..." "Meh, I said it was normal."
"so..." "How was a thing? Is Kamakura there? I'm curious." "It was great, about that..." Hajime looks around and grabs my hands "come." I got drag by Hajime.
"hey Hajime, what's wrong?" I catch up and walking beside him, as I look into his eyes, it was completely red. I stayed silent after seeing that, Hajime or Kamakura continue to drag me and pin me into the wall.
"what was that for!" His index fingers place into my lips "shhh...you don't want anyone to hear us, right?" Deep voice, that must be— "Kamakura?"
"yes." "Um, you don't have to drag me here so that you could talk to me.." he sighs "I don't want to face them, yet." I tilted my head a little bit, "it is because of the killing game? But it's already over—" "I know it's already over, but their trauma. I don't want them to remember that."
'Woah, Kamakura cares about the other?', "so." I hummed and look at him "how were you and komaeda? Still fighting?" I look away to the ground "we...broke up." Hajime/Kamakura let out an 'oh'.
"That was unfortunate. Ahem, we should head back now, let—" I don't know what I was thinking, I hugged him without any thoughts. "(L/n)?" "Ah! Sorry." I back away "yes, let's go."
As we head back and everyone was waiting "hey! Where were you two?" "Talking." We both answered at the same time "ahem, we almost there, prepare for the battle, I will explain to you where is the headquarters, also your position."
Byakuya explained to us everything, Mikan will be the healer, Sonia and hiyoko protect mikan, teruteru will throw the grenade and dynamite. "Unit one will be....."
"nidai, owari, (l/n), and tanaka, unit two will be: pekoyama, kuzuryuu, hinata, unit three will be: imposter, mioda, hanamura, komaeda, souda. This unit will be fighting"
Tumblr media
As we drop off from the boat, "senior!! We wish you luck!! Don't die okay!!" We wave at them and begin our battle.
We encountered the monobots, it wasn't a lot, we managed to fight them, no one is injured until we got into the middle of the town.
We've been a trap, a lot of monobots around us, back, front, left, and right. "Everyone! Prepare yourself! Sonia, hiyoko! Protect mikan! And everyone else pleases circle! And prepare for the sixth battle!" As I ordered them.
Everyone got into the place, and the battle begins.
Now.
The never-ending battle. Some of us got injured, nothing bad until...
"damn it! These monobots must be a lot in here, I think we have to find a hiding spot and heal." I couldn't focus at the time, I heard someone screaming my name when I look back, it was nagito, screaming my name, "(Y/N)! BEHIND YOU!" "Eh?"
Everyone's attention shifted to me, as I look back, a monobots charge a laser beam towards me.
It was too late for them to save me.
The laser hit my stomach. I heard everyone screaming, screaming my name, my eyes were widened, my mouth wanted to say something, but couldn't.
I felt someone lift me, as I look who it is, it was nagito, crying. "Please stay. (Y/n)! You have to live! Don't l-leave me!" He begging me to stay longer... Suddenly the monobots seem off...they don't attack us, they just stay in place, not moving.
"UWAHHW (Y-Y/N), DON'T DIE." Mikan begins to treat my wound, even tho it was a waste of time. I cough up blood."nagito, listen to me..." I lift my right hand, to touch his cheeks, but I don't have too much energy.
So he grabs my hands and places them into his cheeks, everyone watch this cried, in horror, blame themselves, "no matter what happens to me, no matter what we've been through together, don't blame yourself nagito..." More tears fallings.
"I don't have too much time in here...and everyone, nagito, please stay alive for the sake of our next generation of hope and future, love you guys..." I softly smiled. "Don't forget, from the bottom of my heart..." "I truly in love with the determination that sleeps inside you...and yes I stole nagito line! Hahaha...."
"Why are you smiling like this is nothing..." Hajime- no. Kamakura said it, he walked to me and crouch. "You're an idiot." "I am." I look at nagito one last time, wiping his tears away, "now...don't look so sad. I don't want that, please smile."
Everyone forced smile, I traced nagito lips and pull him closer. "Stay alive, okay my hope?" And kiss him, a final kiss. A goodbye kiss.
And I let out my last breath. With that, I sacrifice myself. This is our last battle, the beginning of the new generation has just begun.
Side note ~ hm......did you cried? No? Alright.

HCs and OCs for a fic
Toyomitsu family: Descended from one of the first giant mutants in Japan. Tend to have monster or animal related transformation quirks in addition to being huge. Own farmland and forested areas all over the Kansai region. The family founded the Devil’s Market yakuza group which has been extremely long-running and focused on buying and selling illicit goods, general goods, and general supplies and labor for larger people. A Toyomitsu has been either the boss or first lieutenant of the Devil’s Market for as long as it’s existed. They had to move out of their Osaka base when All For One set up shop, their current main base of operations is in Esuha city. The family also runs a franchise of butcher shops across most of Japan under the name of Oni Meats which carries a vast selection of animal protein from around the world. Nearly all members of the family have prey drives from their monstrous transformations.
Ma- Manami- (Quirk) Bugbear- transformation quirk. If the user is sufficiently fat then they can transform into a hybrid bear/reptile monster. Has great senses and night vision as well as enhanced strength. Can induce fear by staring someone directly in the eyes. -->Prefers not to be involved with the less legal dealings of the family and Devil’s Market. She’s more than capable of being as much of if not more a terrifying mob boss than her little brother. She just likes farming better. -->Generally doesn’t look people in the eyes unless she doesn’t like them b/c her terror-inducing power stays active regardless of her form. She prefers not to scare folks who don’t deserve it. -->Gets on very well with her sister-in-law, if she wasn’t married she’d steal her brother’s wife. -->Met her husband in a fighting ring. She eviscerated him with her claws and he broke one of her arms and several of her ribs. They started talking while getting patched up. -->Is about 7’10” and built like a well-padded brick house. -->Is the one who judges new recruits into the gang. Tends to have them do farm work for at least a month to get a bead on their personalities.
Pa- Noel ‘Blue Devil’ Diablo nee Toyomitsu- (Quirk) Energy absorption- emitter quirk. Can absorb, temporarily store, and redirect kinetic/thermal/electric energy. Too much energy kept in the body for too long causes reckless and impulsive behavior and hyperactivity. Devil- mutant quirk. Has devil-like horns and a tail. -->Used to be a nomad b4 settling down with his strong beautiful wife. Supported himself on his travels with fighting, gambling, handyman skills, and musical skills. -->Brings nothing to the table in his household other than his good looks, good nature, and knack for fixing things and a broad range of skills. -->Holding in excess energy makes him glow blue, especially his horns. -->Loves his family just so much. Is the goofy dad and great flirty husband. -->Loved to carry his kids until they got waaaay too big for him to pick up. Stands on a char to talk to his kids and wife on their level. B/c they are just so damn tall. -->Is 6 ft tall with a strong build with very little body fat b/c of a side effect of his quirk. He gets cold easily b/c of this and it bothers his joints.
Grandpa- Ryuji ‘The Dragon/ Dread Emperor of Giants’ - (Quirk) Dragon- transformation quirk. Can transform into an eastern dragon or humanoid eastern dragon with the severity of the transformation depending on percentage of body fat. Can also control the weather. -->Controlling the weather means that his farms never have a bad year. He does sell this service on the black market through the Devil’s Market. -->Wanted to be a hero when he was young and stopped when his mom got sent to jail for vigilantism and murder for stopping a serial killer from preying on women in the community -->Retired after a betrayal from some too ambitious underlings lead to a crippling knee injury. Still acts as a source of wisdom for the family and the gang. -->Is the go-to babysitter. -->Prefers to be in his transformed state and hates the anti-public quirk use laws with a passion. -->His full dragon form is as long as a bus and can fly. His humanoid dragon form/human form (sans antlers) is 8’5”
Grandma- Akane- (Quirk) None. -->An ex-mercenary who beat Ryuji in his prime AND in his full dragon form with nothing but some rope and her bare hands. -->Very good with guns and knives -->Takes advantage of the fact that as a plump quirkless woman she tends to get overlooked by people with powers to end fuckers. -->Was the one who got rid of the over-ambitious underlings who attempted a coup against her husband. -->Is about 5’10”, very chubby, wears glasses, and is rather soft-spoken. -->Is an icon to the quirkless members of the Devil’s Market and teaches them how to fight people with powers.
Uncle- Wani ‘The Butcher’- (Quirk) Crocodilian- transformation quirk. Similar to grandpa but crocodile instead of dragon. Has a great sense of smell and hearing as well as night vision. Is bulletproof at full strength. -->A strong proponent of community defense to the point where more people came to him about community issues than go to police or heroes. He gets problems handled permanently. -->Also heavily invested in technology and occult studies to see if there was a way to make life easier for people -->Also prefers to be in his transformed state -->Caught and ate 3 quirk diagnosing doctors in the area who were trafficking children into human experimentation. Managed to rescue most of the kids. -->Was arrested and sent to Tartarus for a string of killing corrupt cops and heroes fucking around in his neighborhood. His family often visits him. -->Fell for his wife when she bet him she could drink him under the table with the loser paying the tab. She won. -->Is about 8 ft tall and at least half as wide b4 going to jail. In prison he rapidly lost weight, the family is planning a jailbreak.
Auntie- Jay ‘Jaybird/Hummingbird’ Johnson nee Toyomitsu- (Quirk) Fast Twitch- emitter quirk. A speedster type. Can move and think at superhuman speeds for a few minutes at a time every hour. Has a very high metabolism and needs to consume large amounts of food in general. -->Was a villain before settling down. Still pulls off a robbery every now and then and has a fondness for gems. -->A Black American who came to Japan to hide from law enforcement after a heist gone wrong. -->Thinks that the way people throw the word villain around to just about any fucker committing any kind of crime while using a quirk really dilutes the word. Thinks that villains need fun costumes and proper themes and intent. -->Her sister-in-law was one of the first women she’s ever met who never criticized her eating habits and she would kill for the other woman. Ride or die friendship. -->Is constantly hungry due to her speedster metabolism and has to eat a lot. -->About 5’8” and leggy with plenty of visible muscle.
Sister- Onini ‘Oni/Gargoyle’- (Quirk) Gargoyle- transformation quirk. Can transform into a stone-skinned gargoyle with the severity of the transformation being dependant on amount of body fat. Heat Sink- emitter quirk. Can absorb, store, and release thermal energy. -->Tried to become a hero but was bullied out of school -->Named after one of her mom’s friends -->Considers cousin Kenji to be effectively one of her brothers -->Became a firefighter and uses her quirks on the job even tho it’s illegal. Not like the people she’s saving are gonna complain. -->Tends to flirt with strong women. -->Actually tends to stay partially transformed b/c she likes having a tail and passes herself off as a mutant -->If she gets too hungry and loses control she can become a heat vampire and freeze things to death while feeding on their body heat. -->Spends a lot of time helping out on the farm and her mother is most likely to pass ownership of the family land to her once she retires. -->The most likely person in her generation of the family to have biological kids. --->Keeps teasing Fatgum about when he’s gonna officially adopt his interns. -->Is about 7’5” and technically is too heavy to fly but she glides pretty well.
Cousin- Kenjiro ‘Kenji/Ken/Shuten’- (Quirk) Fast Oni- transformation quirk. Can transform into an oni with enhanced speed and strength. Transforming causes his metabolism to speed up and he burns fat to stay in oni form. Has a speedster metabolism in regular form, if he doesn’t eat a substantial meal every 5 hours he starts losing weight (fat and muscle) rapidly and is consequently always hungry. -->Would love to stay in his transformed form but can’t due to the timer. -->Is jealous of Taishiro’s height and metabolism so he makes fun of the way Tai’s face looks when he’s transformed. Also jealous of Onini’s ability to not be constantly hungry. -->Is constantly hungry from the day his quirk came in and had to take appetite suppressants during puberty to keep from losing his head and chowing down on anything and anyone in reach during his growth spurts. -->Has been mistaken for Fatgum more than once due to their similar-ish size and clothing choices. It frustrates him to no end b/c he’s way darker than Tai and prefers wearing blue or white. -->Has intentionally eaten people. Most notable example being him ending a war with a rival yakuza group by capturing, butchering, and cooking the rival leader and openly serving him for dinner at the peace treaty/gang merger. -->Strongly supports Fatgum as a hero and the two combine resources to help the community whether that is through funding housing for the homeless or getting a very good tailor the resources to make clothing for specific clientele or sending the other to deal with a situation appropriately. -->Brings a knife to a gunfight b/c he’s a superstrong speedster and a gun ain’t go do shit if you ain’t got no hands. -->Thinks Overhaul is a stupid asshole b/c it’s not that hard to get blood out of a kid or train a kid to be ok with it. -->Is about 7’10” and has heard every short joke under the sun from Tai
Fatgum-Taishiro ‘Tai’- (Quirk) Fat Absorption- Transformation quirk into an uncanny valley cartoony blob man that is as strong as the amount of body fat he has. Can absorb, neutralize, or release kinetic energy. Eyes glow in the dark like a cartoon when his quirk is active. Has a great sense of taste and is incapable of feeling sated/is always hungry. Also has an extremely efficient digestive system that breaks food down in seconds. Can also convert fat into muscle as well as generally having enhanced strength and speed while transformed. -->Was a late bloomer. His quirk didn’t start coming in till he was 8 and it took a while b4 he was fat enough for it to have notable effects. -->Preferred being in his skinnier form during middle and high school due to bullying and self-esteem issues that he didn’t work through until his early twenties. -->Started high school at 5’7” (170 cm) at 14 yrs old and was 8’2 (250 cm) when he graduated at 18 yrs old. Puberty was hell and pants were his enemy. -->Had a friend in hero support who took it as a personal challenge to make him clothing that he couldn’t destroy, that would grow and shrink with him, and that he couldn’t outgrow heightwise either. Ended up inventing ‘indestructible pants’ and making bank. -->Does not have canine teeth due to a mutation related to his quirk. Does have several rows of teeth that can replace themselves like a shark’s due to the same mutation. The fuckery of his mouth is only really noticeable if he’s ‘stretching’/pushing his transformation to its fullest extent or if someone’s feeling around inside of his mouth for whatever reason. -->Does not have a gag reflex -->Has been constantly hungry since his quirk emerged and like Kenji had to take appetite suppressants during his growth spurts to keep control of himself. An asshole classmate once replaced his appetite suppressants with appetite stimulants to see what happens. Several people ended up hospitalized, Taishiro still has nightmares about it and said asshole student actually managed to get expelled. Has a restraining order against said asshole classmate who fucked off to England to be a hero there. -->Is so glad he’s done growing. Went through clothes like water when he was a teen. -->Going several days without getting enough calories in tends to activate his prey drive and he really doesn’t like that b/c heroes shouldn’t murder or maul people. Figured out this aspect when he mauled a bully after his quirk just came in and later during a survival training exercise in hero school in which he ended up eating a live bear after several days of living on trail rations (scared his teammates for life with that one). -->A lot of aspects of his costume with the bright colors and friendly mannerisms is to reduce the intimidation factor/terrifying aspects of his appearance. He is aware that in his transformed state he’s a giant uncanny valley cartoony egg man monster that can fucking absorb people into his body. -->While transformed his limb, mouth, and eye proportions are extremely fluid and change nearly at will. If he wants to his face can be entirely mouth, which he knows is terrifying to other people. His arms and legs can rubber hose it though they aren’t as strong when he does that, does mean he can grab from angles that shouldn’t be possible. -->Was bullied as a kid for being ‘quirkless’ b4 his quirk manifested and then he was bullied for being fat. It did a number on his self-esteem as a teen leading him to prefer using his thinner form as his default. -->His thinner form was considered a heartthrob in school to his frustration. Didn’t mean he didn’t take advantage of the fact people found him hot to make money or flirt a free lunch off of someone. Was in a hot guy calendar made and distributed by one of his classmates. -->It absolutely gets on his nerves when people only find his skinny form attractive. -->After graduation, he lost muscle b/c that starter hero paycheck ain’t shit and the Hero Commission refused to let him write off food costs as business expenses. Had to save his food money for patrols leading to him losing weight. -->Participated in underground fighting rings to both make some money on the side and get better at using his quirk -->Has tried Trigger b4 and carries a small vial of the good version of it just in case he really needs it one day. (Listen, you ain’t finding shit trying to pat down fucking Fatgum) -->While transformed the absorbing things into him thing is automatic, put too much pressure on the flabbier parts of his body and you’ll just sink in. It takes effort to release things and took him a while to learn how to do this as a kid. Before he learned how to release things, he’d just turn off his quirk to get things out of him. -->Was blackmailed into working for the cops after getting caught during a raid of one of the fighting rings he was participating in. Decided to be a double agent and give away info on cases to the Devil’s Market to help them stay ahead of the cops. Also blew a decent chunk of the Osaka police force’s budget on his feeding since they wanted to use him. Ultimately this is what caused the police to break their partnership with him b/c he was too damn expensive to keep on the payroll. -->Once he became decently popular he and the Devil’s Market started funding a superhero trade school to get people who otherwise wouldn’t be able to get into hero schools for various reasons trained up and educated enough to get a hero license. -->As a hero he just doesn’t enforce the dumber laws like anti-public quirk use laws b/c who cares if people use their quirks if they aren’t hurting anyone. Also prefers not to label criminals as villains unless they’ve done some truly heinous shit b/c he knows that villains get harsher punishments in the justice system. Is also a strong proponent for rehabilitation for criminals. -->Once got caught in a scandal where he and a close friend and classmate managed to get a quirkless friend of theirs enrolled in their hero school with the help of a hacker. It took months for the school to catch on, during which said quirkless friend excelled in the hero classes. Fatgum and his friend nearly got expelled when caught. Later he helps that quirkless friend get a provisional hero license to become Japan’s first quirkless hero. -->From his family history, to his accent, to his size, to his ancestry Fatgum got torn apart by the media when he first started making waves. It took years but his image as a fun friendly beloved hero won out over ‘loose canon with criminal ties who’ll probably turn villain any day now’ -->Most of his sidekicks are folks he knew in his underground fighting days or rehabilitated criminals. Sidekicks and interns from actual hero schools are picked based on both potential as well as ‘how well can you bend the law/see in shades of grey instead of black and white?’. Essentially interning with Fatgum is a long process of unlearning propaganda and a practical application of morality on a case by case basis. -->Is aware of the hornier corners of his fandom and doesn’t know how to get them to understand that death via snusnu is not a way they want to go out (“How do you know this?” “...No comment.”) and telling them that they would def either die or require medical attention only makes them hornier. He finds it distressing and tries to avoid these people. -->Only found out that his name and birthday were puns when he was in middle school. He was not pleased. His parents had a blast since they were waiting for him to figure it out. -->When transformed his face, hands, feet, knees, and elbows are the most vulnerable parts of his body. Hence the leg armor (and occasionally arm armor). -->Due to his size, he’s got a few glaring blind spots, the main one being that he simply can’t see past his belly when looking down. He has tripped over short people b4 b/c of this. At least one of his friends from school would take advantage of this when he was in his larger form to sneak up on him.

👀 I noticed you followed the author I mentioned, care to check out the newest fic they posted? 👀 also also, christmas headcanons? :0
Hey! Thank you for request ! I don't know if you want Tsumitsu so when in doubt I did general hc on all the characters, but if you want Tsumitsu in particular tell me and I'll do it again ^^
I haven't read her new story yet, but it's in my Bookmarks ! As soon as I have a little time I'll read it ! :D
TBHK CHRISTMAS HEADCANONS
It's Christmas ! They are all having a great family celebration
It’s Sumire’s birthday too (not the real date but I like to think she was born on a holiday)
Tsukasa eats mistletoe
He also plays with garlands and almost electrocutes himself with the string lights
Teru has a horrible Christmas sweater but he thinks he's on top of fashion with
But no, tell him no
Besides, he made sure to match his sweater with his siblings
Mitsuba cut Nene's hair shorter
Mitsuba wears a golden garland instead of his scarf
Tsuchigomori tied Hanako's tie knot
Tsukasa couldn't tie his tie on his own so he had to ask Sakura to do it for him, but Natsuhiko said he took care of it.
Think for two seconds that we've never seen Natsuhiko with a tie, why? He just doesn't know how to tie a tie
After an hour he gave up and he ended up putting on a bow tie and suspenders in Tsukasa instead.
Aoi and Nene both have candy cane earrings
Kou makes the meal
Teru wanted to help him, but we kindly sat him down at a table instead
" NO ! OUT OF THE QUESTION ! WE WANT A WARM PARTY BUT NOT A FIRE !!! GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN NOW "
Mitsuba stole the star from the tree bc: "I am the brightest star in this room! "
Akane and Amane argue over who is more beautiful between Aoi and Nene
"Yashiro is so radiant that she could replace the star on the tree! "
"Well, Ao-Chan is so bright she shines brighter than all the fairy lights on the tree! "
Then Aoi and Nene said it was Teru the brightest in the room
So we tied Teru to the top of the tree to light up the room instead of the star
"We" in fact it was Akane and Amane out of revenge
Tsuchigomori is disguised as Santa Claus
Teru taught him how to make a good "Heave-Ho!" "To stick to the character (but Teru remains the God of "Heave-Oh!")
He also smokes in a pipe with candy cane color
"WHO PUT A FIR BRANCH IN MY PIPE ??!" "
Tsukasa beheads gingerbreadmans and glue them back together to make characters with multiple limbs / Heads
Sakura is sitting by the fire reading a large, beautiful, ancient storybook with sumptuous gold bindings
Natsuhiko had put mistletoe over her chair before the reception
He was going to go under to try to kiss her but ...
Tsukasa comes running ahead of him (dropping the mistletoe in the process) because Sakura is reading Christmas tales and he ABSOLUTELY wants her to get him over it
Mission failed.
Kou, Aoi and Nene distribute Christmas hats to everyone
Hanako put on a Christmas hat over his own hat
At one point Amane asks Tsuchigomori to do Christmas carols on the piano (I like to imagine him playing the piano, the flute and the saxophone) and he manages to convince Yako to sing too.
She has a beautiful voice, she looks like an angel
Then after she clinks glasses with Tsuchigomori
Then they toast once again to their sucks
And again, they drink again!
Okay, by then they're both totally drunk and Tsuchi ’dancing rock with Yako
Flash Info: Music is a slow
Lemon improvised himself Dj, besides his turntables have a lemon motif
Mitsuba eats all the coconut rock fereros (Rafaelo I think?) he can find, anyway nobody likes it so it's okay
Tsukasa and the Mokkes steal the mandarins and papilottes which are placed on the guests' plates
There are firecrackers in the wrapper paper but they don't make much noise: Tsukasa is very very disappointed
So instead he hides behind Mitsuba and explodes crackers behind him to scare him
Almost all the gifts are for Aoi or for Nene
In fact Akane and Amane made a competition to find out which one would give the most gifts to his sweetheart
Perfect equality
"Hanako-Kun ... Did you really get me a Daikon plush ?! "
Aoi received ALL Pandora Hearts, Vampire Knights and Black Butler tomes from Akane
Natsuhiko also gave Sakura a lot of gifts, but they were mostly books.
He gave her some handmade silk gloves too (Mitsuba gave him the patterns and he managed to sew them himself, it's wobbly but it's pretty anyway and Sakura likes them a lot), a pretty refined and expensive tea set, and books on medicinal plants, on precious stones and on healing but he also offered her science fiction books because he knows that she is secretly a fan of this kind of reading
Sakura does not show it but she is very touched, especially since she had never spoken about the fact that she has a weakness for science fiction books.
Sakura gives Natsuhiko a kiss on the cheek
Simp.Exe stop working
"There was mistletoe above us, that's the tradition"
She gave him a dangling earring with an amethyst stone (I can say more if you want but the meaning of the amethyst is based on a hc of Sakura that I have, if you want hc a this to better understand why this stone, ask me ^^)
Nene gave Amane her rocket keychain, lost about 50 years ago
Hanako remains silent then he hugs Nene, he almost cries
Akane offered Hanako milk
“It's good for growth"
Kou gave him a cat ear headphones
And Sumire gave Hanako a bell necklace
"I AM NOT A F****** CAT! "
"Hanako-Kun… You meow while sleeping and sneezing…"
Tsukasa donated handmade pottery to everyone
He accidentally broke one on Amane's head
"My head is… Spinning… Ho I see… The Stars… THE STARS, BROTHER! THE MOON IS NEAR! "
But he offered Yaoi to Mitsuba while whistling
Mitsuba turned all red and stuttering after that
Hanako gave Akane a math manual with his name written on it
"But ... is this my manual ??? It's been something like… Seven months since I look for him! "
"Yes, I thought you would be happy if I gave it back to you for Christmas"
Teru gave everyone the lobster plush toys he won this summer, his stock was too big for Tiara's room (which by the way is really big for a little girl room!)
Aoi gave Nene pretty hair clips and Nene gave her some lily seeds
Sakura gave Nene gaiters and an hourglass and Nene gave her a set of tea scented with autumn flavors and a scented with flavors of winter
The Toilet Trio donated cups to Tsuchi ’
Tsuchi' and Yako both treated themselves to first-price perfumes found in supermarkets
He also gave her a fake fox fur to annoy her
Yako bought her a ferret, (don't ask me why I don't know, she thought it was a good idea)
So now we have Tsukasa and Mitsuba running behind the ferret to play with him since half an hour
And Hanako wants the ferret to be called "Rocket"
Sumire received luxury jewelry, clothing, shoes, fan and perfume
Tsuchigomori donated a telescope to Hanako
Kou received overalls, a multicolored sweater and items and clothes with egg designs on them
Mitsuba received a mirror and polaroid paper for his photos
He also got a whole bunch of kawaii items and clothes with peaches, including an orange skirt and a pink winter dress with soft faux fur.
And Mitsuba gave everyone the same thing: A photo of him with a cute face: “So am I not the most beautiful of gifts? UwU "
Lemon offered Akane a Netflix subscription, but he plans to squat his account too
All the gifts that Lemon has received have… Lemon… designs.
"We should stop the joke one of these days guys, once it's going but every year it gets long by force ..."
Someone (obviously unconscious!) Offered a jumping stick and stilts to Tsukasa, who had the wonderful idea of combining the two, before eventually dashing headfirst into the table.
A little more and he landed in the fire ! ! !
Akane donated a plush, a Hawaiian shirt, glasses and a pen all with pineapple designs for Teru
Teru gave him some sushi candies to make together
He also gave her a watch without hands because: "You don't need any object to tell the time, after all you're a bit of a clock yourself, aren't you? "
"After the party we'll have to throw out the tree, but do we throw Teru with the tree too? "
I hope you like it, I took a long time to write it <3

Heyo everyone! I made a fic for Owari No Seraph that's focused on Mikaela Hyakuya! Make sure to read the tags on the fic! I hope you all enjoy!
https://archiveofourown.org/works/32814547/chapters/81422785
Summary:
Mikaela Hyakuya was a boy who was told he was a gift from the heavens by his parents. He was always expected to do more, to be more. Sadly, the boy felt he was nothing of the sorts.
One day, while on a drive with his parents, Mikaela was thrown out the car. He watched as the crumpled car burned through half closed eyes as he heard the sirens in the distance come closer. He knew he was breathing in smoke but he couldn't move, he couldn't bring himself to care for his parents lives.
He was found with no injuries other than a few scrapes to every doctor's surprise. He was the only survivor to what he came to learn was a murder suicide attempt. He would be sent to an orphanage where he met Akane and many other orphans who he came to call family.
With a new addition to the family being an angry boy named Yuuichirou and getting captured by vampires as an apocalypse raged on around them how will Mikaela deal with his mask slowly breaking as he tries to keep his small family happy while living as livestock?

FIC: Never Have to Say Goodbye
to: @juricha-art
from: @interabangs
Happy Holidays, juricha-art! I chose your Sigma/Diana prompt because they deserve so much happiness together after everything they’ve been through! Just to let you know, there is some angst in here, and a couple mentions of Diana’s ex and Delta. but I made sure to give the lovebirds the happy ending they deserve! Bonus D-Team family feels at the end, too. Hope you enjoy!
Sleep had become more of a passing acquaintance to Diana in the past few years. Between her duties at the hospital – and her fitful tossing and turning before heading to DCOM – she hadn’t been getting much of it.  She would’ve been surprised at how quickly she slips into dreamland, if she weren’t so exhausted. She vaguely registers Sigma gently lowering her into bed, and lifting the thick, cozy comforter over her as he tells her, “Everything is going to be all right.”
When her eyes open, slowly taking in the small, dark room she’s in, she blinks a few times, and rubs at her lids.
The first thing she can tell is that she’s alone. She’s in a single queen-sized bed, and in what she gradually remembers is a motel room.
Her attention turns to its layout: door and window facing her with the curtains spread out, tiny television resting on a small cabinet just shy of five feet away from the foot of the bed.
Lifting her head from the soft downy pillow, Diana half turns around, still waking up as she looks at the bathroom and closet behind her.
It all comes rushing back to her as she sits up in bed, clutching at the collar of her red sweater.
After Carlos had shot Delta, Diana fainted right there in the desert. She’d known Delta had imprisoned her, imprisoned all of them. She didn’t blame Carlos for making the hard decision. But she couldn’t fully process her son’s death, and she had barely felt Sigma picking her up as the others argued what their next step was.
The rest of the day is a blur as Diana tries to recall it, sifting through her memories like holding a pan and trying to look for gold. She pulls her legs out from under the motel bed’s comforter and draws her knees up to her chest, breathing deeply like Rebecca had advised her, what felt like several lifetimes ago. And technically, it was true.
One breath in through the nose, hold it for five seconds, then exhaling through the mouth. It’s a technique that had helped calm Diana when she stayed with Rebecca, trying to find her footing and escape from the man who had caused her so much pain.
Try to look at the positives, she tells herself, continuing her breathing exercise in her large motel bed. And she walks through each of them: she’s alive. She’d found her daughter and love of her life, who are both also still alive. All the Decision Game participants, except for Delta, made it out alive. There is no Radical-6 in this timeline. Diana would never have to worry about that, or… him, again. She hadn’t been able to stop Delta from achieving his twisted plan with the Decision Game, and even though she had felt some instinctual maternal instinct toward the elderly man, she knows, as much as it pains her to admit it, that Carlos had made the best and safest decision for the group.
The fact that Diana, and the others, had all lived, is a miracle. They’d formed a shared goal in the aftermath of Delta’s death: stop the terrorist in this timeline. Diana knows she can begin her new life with her family, the family she remembers losing in a timeline she doesn’t want to dwell on right now.
She brushes her hair behind her ears, wondering where Sigma and Phi are. Searching through her murky memories of the previous day, she senses the bumpy ride of the van from DCOM, out in the middle of the desert, to civilization.
Diana recalls snatches of conversations in the van ride: some heated words from Eric to Akane, Junpei snapping right back at Eric, Sean’s questions from the middle seat, and Carlos’s calm, measured tone from the driver’s seat.
Diana remembers Sigma holding her hand as the van speeds over sand first, then pavement, and how warm his touch was, how his sturdy frame supported her as she sank against his side, half-awake, wondering where they were going.
“We need to hole up somewhere for a bit,” Phi had assured Diana when she could hear other cars driving next to the van, the occasional honk, and more conversation from up front as Mira tells Eric and Junpei, “Oh, knock it off already.”
“That’s going to be fun to deal with,” Diana remembers hearing Sigma mutter to Phi, and Junpei had said, “Hey, I heard that, back there!”
Diana laughs a little in bed, interrupting her own breathing exercise as she realizes the absurdity of their situation.  She takes in another breath, and finds the last piece of gold, the last memory of the previous night.
Sigma had carried her from the van to her room, whispering to Phi, “We’ll explain everything to her in the morning, okay? Right now, she needs to get some sleep.”
“Are you really going to sleep with her tonight? Don’t you think that’s a little… forward?”
Sigma had paused in the middle of the hallway, and his stance changed, his shoulders slumping a bit. Diana had stirred then, opening her eyes, and Sigma said, “Sorry, Diana. We’ll let you get some rest.”
The last thing Diana remembers is Sigma tucking her into bed and closing the door quietly behind him. Phi had said something outside the room, but Diana can’t quite remember it.
She chews on her lower lip, chasing down the memory and trying to uncover it before she goes looking for Sigma and Phi.
Just as she’s still trying to remember, she notices something on the floor in front of her door, that hadn’t been in the motel room when she’d woken up.
Her eyes now adjusted to the dim light, she peers at the object half illuminated through the crack by the exterior hallway lights.
It’s a piece of paper.
Then, all at once, Diana remembers what Phi had said when Sigma closed the door:
“Do you really think things will work out between you two?”
Diana swings her legs out from under her, and she takes the six steps to the note under the door.  She’d been so preoccupied with trying to calm herself down and remember how she got from the desert to the motel room, that she wasn’t even aware of anyone stopping by her room and sliding the note under her door.
With slightly trembling hands, Diana opens the folded note. She flips on the room light, blinking rapidly and wincing before peering down at the note.
Diana,
I’m sorry for everything that has happened to you. I wish I could take it all back, somehow, even though part of me will forever be grateful to have met you. If only it had happened under better circumstances.
Please understand I want all the best for you. Take care of Phi (she needs it.) I’m sure you both have a lot to catch up on.
Lo All the best,
S.
When she finishes reading it, Diana steels herself to take another calming breath or two.
Then she slips on her shoes – Sigma must have taken them off before tucking her in – and she wrenches the heavy motel door open, dashing out into the cool night air.
Her skirt is wrinkled all over, one of her flower clips is halfway down the back of her hair, her shoes are back in the room lined up neatly next to the door – Sigma had probably taken them off before laying her in bed –
– And she realizes that she doesn’t have the keycard to her room just as the door slams shut behind her.
But Diana doesn’t care about any of that.
She races down the hall, around a corner, and then, all the way down the end of the longer hall, she sees Sigma standing in front of an elevator.
She calls out his name, but her voice is nearly unrecognizable from recent lack of us.
Then, after clearing her parched throat, she tries again, “Sigma!”
He turns, and his eyes widen.
“Wait!” Diana cries out, and runs over to him as he stares at her, completely shocked. “Where are you going?”
He blinks once, then again before saying, “Diana! I didn’t wake you up, did I?”
“No, I was already awake. And then I saw this.” She hold up the note. “What does it mean? Are you… are you leaving me? Are you leaving Phi?”
Sigma looks away at her question, glancing up at the floor the elevator is on. They’re on the fourth floor, and the elevator is still on the first one. “Should’ve taken the stairs,” he says, as if talking to himself. “So that’s what I get for being lazy, huh?”
“Answer the question,” she says, a little more harshly than she meant to, so she adds, “please. Where are you off to?”
He stares at her for a few more seconds before he schools his stunned expression into an indiscernible one, looking up at the elevator numbers on the top of its metal frame. “I can’t tell you that.”
“Why not? Are you leaving for forever?” Tears spring to Diana’s eyes, and a pit forms in the bottom of her stomach. “I thought maybe we could…” she trails off, then, not really certain how she wants to finish the sentence.
He shakes his head. “I’m sorry Diana, but I don’t think that would be a good idea right now.”
“What? Why?”
He sighs, pushing the button for the elevator again. “I thought I’d be the type of person who could never yell at you the way I did, when we were in the decontamination room. I…” His voice drops to a decibel just above a whisper as he shuts his eyes. “I thought I would never be the kind of person that could hurt you.”
“But I hurt you too!” she protests. “And I had less of a reason to.”
Sigma rakes a hand through his hair. “I was just as bad for you as… he was.”
“No!” Diana takes a step forward, raising her free hand to put it on Sigma’s arm, maybe in some desperate attempt to anchor him to the floor. But she stops, when she looks at his face, at the combined mixture of guilt and self-loathing twisted in his usually handsome features.
She puts her hand down. “That’s not true, Sigma. I remember what happened too. We were both so scared, and confused… And I remember you said you were sorry, and then you comforted me when I needed it the most.”
Sigma doesn’t answer, but Diana notices that the elevator is still stuck on the first floor, so she keeps going.
“Do you remember how patient you were when we found out that I was… expecting? You gave up half your rations for me, for months. You were so stubborn about giving up your portions that I had to feed you a couple times so you wouldn’t pass out. You gave me footrubs when I complained about walking, you let me have my own time in the healing room when I said I needed space.” Tears streak down her cheeks at the memory of his kindness.  “And you did… so much for me when I couldn’t think about anything else but touching you. I couldn’t have survived in there without you, Sigma. You did more than I could ever ask for, you did everything you could for Phi and…” Diana’s eyes burn a little as she shut them, unable to say Delta’s name. “For them.”
When she looks up at Sigma, she can see his own eyes watering.
“That doesn’t make my actions right,” he says, lowering his head. “You’ve already been through too much pain. I don’t want to risk the chance of putting you through any more of it.“
The elevator arrives on their floor with a rapid ding! that makes Diana crush the note even more.
Then, before she can stop to think, she dashes into the elevator, and turns to face Sigma before he can enter.
His hard, resolute stare softens into curiosity. “What are you doing?”
“I don’t want you to go!” she protests. “After everything we’ve been through, you can’t just leave like this!”
His mouth curves up into a half-smile, and that gives Diana a bit of hope. “Technically, I can,” he says, thumbing the elevator button before the door can close between them. “It doesn’t mean I want to leave. But if this is what it takes to help you recover from everything you’ve been through, then so be it.”
“Do you remember what I said, about you being a coward?” she asks, and Sigma’s smile vanishes, instantly answering her question with his haunted expression. “I was completely wasted when I called you that,” she continues, stepping forward. “I wanted to hurt you. See? I wish I didn’t say those things either, or treated you horribly when you were just trying to make sure I was eating. But I did. And now we’re here. Now we can fix it, Sigma. We can put that all behind us, and move forward, together.”
She takes a step toward him, standing between the elevator doors.
He takes her free hand, the one not crushing the note, and pulls her out into the hall without hesitation.
More tears roll down her flushed cheeks as she squeezes his hand, letting the elevator doors close behind her.
“I don’t know what to do if you leave,” she says. “Phi’s here, and I’m so grateful for that. I’m glad that we found our daughter. But I still want to be with you. Do you… do you not want to be with me anymore?”
He looks at her for a long moment, that stretches as far down as the motel hallway, and Diana’s heart sinks into her stomach as she begins to think that he -
“Of course I want to be with you, Diana,” he says, enveloping her with his arms as she sobs out of relief. “I’d love nothing more than getting to spend the rest of my life with you.”
“I feel the same way,” she says, sniffling, her voice muffled by his chest. “We can work through this, all our crazy time traveling problems, together.”
Even though she can’t see his face, she knows he’s smiling again, and they sway on the spot in front of the elevator, crying as they tighten their embrace.
“I’m glad you didn’t take the stairs,” Diana whispers to him, clutching his back.
“Me too. Apparently, laziness and outdated wiring does pay off sometimes.”
She laughs, then looks up at him. “Um, Sigma?”
“Yeah?”
“Did you get a room tonight too? I kinda… locked myself out of mine.”
“Oh.” His eyes widen in realization. “Oh! Well, uh…” His face flushes a little, exactly how she remembers it did when she kissed him in DCom, and he clears his throat. “Uh, yeah, I got a room, though I wasn’t planning on stay in it for long. Akane has your keycard, since she figured you would be sleeping all night. But since she’s with Junpei now, we probably shouldn’t bother them.”
Diana laughs a little at Sigma’s bashfulness, despite them having spent many nights together themselves in another timeline. “Don’t worry, I don’t have any funny business in mind. Not tonight, anyway.”
“Not tonight,” he agrees. “But it would be good for us both to get some rest. Is that all right?”
Diana sighs happily as she hugs Sigma once more, then lets him lead the way to his room. “Most definitely.”
—————————
When Diana wakes, she’s delighted to feel Sigma pressed up behind her,  his strong arms embracing her around the side. Not too tight to give her enough space, but in a comforting way, and much more secure than the blanket in her previous room when she’d woken up alone.
She shifts eventually, turning over to see him as he begins to wake up himself. “Hi,” she says.”
He leans forward, pressing gentle kisses into her hair. "Hi.”
“Wanna go downstairs?”
“Yeah, I just need another minute.” He stretches, and she laughs at the sight of his large form nearly taking up the other half of the bed. He relaxes, and hugs her to his chest again, enveloping her in his warmth as she breathes in his scent. “This is everything I’ve ever wanted.”
She buries her face in his chest. “Me too.”
“I’m not so sure I can get up now,” Sigma tells her.
“Ew, perv.”
“Ahhh!” Sigma yells, and Diana sits right up.
“Phi?”
Their daughter shuts the small cabinet under the TV at the foot of the bed, rolling her eyes. “Knew I should’ve waited until you both came down for breakfast,” she grumbles.
“What are you – are you trying to look for my wallet?” Sigma asks.
“Actually, it’s not your wallet I’m looking for,” Phi says with a smirk. “Akane got it for you yesterday with her Crash Keys funds, remember?”
“Well, yeah,” Sigma says, sitting up in bed along with Diana, “but didn’t she give you some money too?”
“I’m afraid not,” Phi says, shaking her head as she crosses her arms over her chest. “Akane said that the cash she gave you last night should be enough to cover all three of us, and I wanted to get a soda from the vending machine. So where is the wallet, old man?”
“Oh, so this is where it starts, huh? Now you’re asking me for allowance?” Sigma asks, reaching behind him to fumble around in the bedside table drawer. He pulls out a brand new wallet, takes out a twenty dollar bill from the thick wad of cash, and holds it up.
Phi groans, “Please don’t tell me I have to go over there and get it. Not if you’re both naked under there.”
“We’re not naked, Phi!” Diana says, flipping the comforter off her and Sigma.
“No, my eyes!” Phi cries, holding her arm up to shield her vision.
“Don’t worry, Phi – look, we’re wearing clothes!” Sigma says, and Phi slowly lowers her arm.
“Okay,” she says, trying to pretend she hadn’t lost her cool and collected demeanor. Diana can’t help but stifle a giggle as Phi rolls her eyes and stomps over to Sigma’s side of the bed, snatching the money out of his hand as he grins at her smugly.
“This means you’ll be mowing the lawn, right?”
“Hah hah. Last I checked, you don’t even have a lawn to mow.”
“Oh, we’ll have one eventually,” Sigma says, turning to Diana with a soft smile, his eyes filled with hope for the future.
When Diana returns his smile, there’s a moment of silence before Phi asks her quietly. “So, um… does that mean you want us to be a family?”
Diana turns to look at Phi, and, seeing her daughter’s face, the mixture of guarded longing and incredulity, she can’t help but jump off the bed, rushing to join her and giving her a hug.
“Oh, Phi,” she says, her voice breaking, “of course I do!”
Phi stiffens for a second, then relaxes into her embrace. “Good,” she says. “I’m glad you do too.”
“I thought you didn’t want us to be a family,” Sigma says to Phi from the bed.
“Well, of course I did, but I wasn’t sure if you wanted to!” Phi says as she hugs Diana back.
“But the way you were talking last night,” Sigma says, stumbling over his words, “I just figured you wanted me to leave.”
“What?” Phi blinks at him, and laughs. “No, I didn’t want you to leave, you old geezer. I just wanted you to make sure you know that this is what you really want. I don’t… I don’t want either of you to end up getting hurt. Not again, not after everything we’ve been through.”
“You don’t have to worry about us, Phi,” Diana says. “We’ll be fine. But I don’t think we’ll all be able to settle down until we stop the terrorist and save everyone.”
“She’s right,” Sigma says, getting up off the bed and joining Diana and Phi. “I don’t know if we’ll ever be anything resembling a ‘normal’ family. But maybe that’s okay. Maybe we don’t need ‘normal.’ Maybe we can just be… us.“
Diana clasps her hands together, tearing up. Sigma puts his arms around her and Phi, and Diana’s chest swells with all the love she has for him and their daughter..
“Okay,” Phi agrees, sounding as relieved as Diana has felt since Sigma decided not to leave. Then, Phi adds hurriedly, “Let’s just… try to keep it to the three of us for now, all right?”
Diana laughs as Sigma hugs both her and Phi closer to him. “Promise.”

🧜‍♀️ Haimizu Little Mermaid AU 🧜‍♀️
Here’s another long AU idea thing I came up with. If you read this I hope you like it <3
The AU mostly follows Mizukamiya. He’s just a simple mermaid(man) who watches soccer players along the shores of a secluded island front that’s just barely visible from his underwater home. Although he plays a similar sport underwater, he can’t help but wonder what it would be like to play soccer on land with…legs!
One day Mizukamiya encounters a half shark mercreature who unintentionally grants him legs?! ((The half-octopus had just stolen a potion from a shady backwater alleyway that would grant them one of their hearts deepest wish and was hurriedly trying to sneak away with it when they bumped into Mizukamiya, spilling it onto the mermaid and thus granting him his wish)). Since his ‘transformation’ had happened so suddenly Mizukamiya was rushed to the surface by the half-octopus where he was quickly dumped onto the sand. When he turned around to thank the half-shark all he saw was a pair of glaring brown eyes before said eyes dove back under the water.
For the rest of the day Mizukamiya worked on learning how to walk. It took a great amount of effort since he was only ever accustomed to swimming around in the water but over the course of the day he figured out to move without falling face forward every other step. Around the time the sun began to set he found a pair of tattered clothes to where along with a makeshift shelter to sleep under for the night! When morning came around Mizukamiya would wander the shore some more in search of food, seeing as he could no longer eat what he was usually given underwater… During his search he’d wind up finding a group of teens playing soccer?! ((Luckily he had wandered to the area where his home was located near)). When he approached the group they happily let him join in. Around lunch time they all shared mini sandwiches and even offered Mizukamiya some spare clothes, all to which he graciously accepts. Unfortunately the group is unable to go start any other match afterwards because they all leave when a certain gray-haired guy heads their way. Mizukamiya is the only one to stay because he really doesn’t have anywhere else to go and because he doesn’t want to be rude.
The two don’t really end up talking… Mizukamiya tries to start up little conversations here and there but the other guy pretty much ignores him as he picks up liter along the shorelines. ((Mizukamiya helps clean up too- Placing trash into the bag the gray-haired guy is holding but other than that, it’s the only interaction they have)). For the next few days this cycle repeats. Mizukamiya playing soccer with the teens who journey to where he’s at, eating borrowed lunches, and then cleaning up with the guy, who he later finds out is named Haizaki. By the end of his first week of having legs, Mizukamiya is wondering how and if he’ll ever be able to return to the water. ((He’s tried going back in but has failed to make his tail or water breathing reappear)). He’s kind of growing desperate- So one night he tries to swim as far down as he can to find that half shark but alas his body doesn’t allow him to stay under long and he almost starts drowning but thanks to Haizaki, he’s brought back to the surface where’s he’s then scolded by the other. And since he can’t explain himself he just sits there and takes it before quietly muttering “you wouldn’t understand.”
After the incident Haizaki stops showing up. The soccer players also stop coming around, however their soccer ball is still there so Mizukamiya plays around with it every now and then… He’s been on the surface for about 2 weeks and hasn’t tried to go back in the water. He’s kind of come to terms that he’ll never be able to go back but surprise, surprise, just when he least expects it the half-octopus suddenly appears in front of him one afternoon, with legs?! They offer Mizukamiya a potion that will reverse the effects of his wish and just as he’s about to take it, Haizaki stops him- A soccer ball rams right into the potion, knocking it into the sand- The half-octopus and Mizukamiya look to Haizaki with shocked expressions. Haizaki takes Mizukamiya away and later reveals some shocking information about the half-octopus. ((Spoiler- The half-octopus is a bad guy who was going to poison Mizukamiya for reasons unknown)). The two of them then hide out at Haizaki’s place for the night. They end up forming somewhat of a friendship as they bond over their love of soccer and so on.
The next day they head into town to meet a few of Haizaki’s friends ((Tsunami, Tachimukai, Okuno and Akane)) and while talking Mizukamiya learns how each of them where once apart mermaids too, well minus Haizaki and Tachimukai, but they all end up forming a plan to get back at the half-octopus. Because of yeah! The half-octopus actually hadn’t been back to the surface for years until Mizukamiya showed up. So… They use Mizukamiya as bait to lure the half-octopus to where they last encountered them and sure enough the half-octopus shows up. From there the teens capture them and demand to be turned back to their former selves. The half-octopus only laughs at them, telling them the way to turn back is if a sacrifice is made. Of course nobody believes them but since the half-octopus drinks a bottle of poison before they can stop them, they’re kind of stuck with being human. Mizukamiya goes to bed with a heavy heart that night.
A month goes by before Mizukamiya starts to feel better. He’s slowly come to terms that this is his new life—He lives in a studio apartment next door to Haizaki and has more or less adapted to the human life style thanks to Tsunami and Akane’s advise. He’s also become the captain of the local soccer club! ((It’s a different group of teens from the ones he had been playing with earlier in the story)). And lastly, he’s become practically best friends with Haizaki and the group! ((He’s even got a small crush on Haizaki too)).
One night, Haizaki invites him out for a barbeque on the beach along with the rest of their friends. When they arrive Mizukamiya’s finds both Tsunami and Akane swimming around in the water. At first glance nothing appears to be out of place but when he gets closer he finds that their legs have been replaced with tails?! Tachimukai is the one to awkwardly explain how they transformed back- through a kiss… Mizukamiya had sensed some romantic tension throughout the group but had never paid any mind to it… until now so when he catches Tsunami staring fondly at Tachimukai he forces himself to look away with a laugh, congratulating everyone. ((And possibly crying on the inside because he knew Haizaki didn’t feel the same way about him)). But oh wait- A hand grabs his own, guiding him away from their friends and towards a more secluded area. He doesn’t get a chance to say anything because Haizaki kisses him as soon as they’re out of sight. And just like that Mizukamiya’s legs are replaced with a tail! Haizaki has to carry him back after that ((all the while grumbling about how heavy Mizukamiya is)). But when they rejoin the group Mizukamiya is placed into the water. From there the group congratulates each other and eventually eat before Tachimukai, Okuno, and Haizaki all wave goodbye. Since he wasn’t expecting them to leave, Mizukamiya tries to get back onto the surface but is pulled back by Akane who, with tears in her eyes, tells him that they can’t be on land anymore. Tsunami tries to lighten the mood by telling them they’re friends will be back the following day, but deep down Mizukamiya knows they won’t…
Several weeks go by and Mizukamiya has adjusted back to his old lifestyle under water. He’s welcomed back home with open arms and a very teary-eyed mother. Tsunami and Akane have both returned to their families and regularly keep in touch with Mizukamiya but everything just feels so different now. Mizukamiya misses life on land, which in retrospect wasn’t all that bad considering how he now preferred living on land rather than in the ocean. Another few days pass and he’s greeted by Tsunami, Akane, and their parents, along with his own. They all journey back to the shoreline where they last saw Tachimukai, Okuno, and Haizaki. From there Mizukamiya is given a necklace that will grant him legs for as long as he wears it. ((Akane and Tsunami had received theirs earlier that morning)). His mom tells him to go live his life on land, having been fully aware of his changed attitude at returning to the ocean. Mizukamiya thanks her and joins his friends as they each put on their necklaces to return to the surface --- The shocked expressions their human friends have are priceless…
And that’s all folks! I had posted this in a WAY SHORTER summary on Twitter a while back but uhhh never finished it. I still kind of want to make this into an actual fic and fix it up some more but who knows if that’ll ever happen. For now I hope you enjoyed this AU as it is. Thank you so much for taking the time to read it too by the way!!!

Unedited dorohedoro fic- Chapter 1 part 2
A/N: Characters will get names when I come up with names. I am open to suggestions.
When Ton wakes he’s warm and comfortable and kinda hungry. The horror of the last day felt almost like a bad dream. He turns over ready to go back to sleep and maybe have a better dream when he sees it and the dam bursts. On his bed stand is a photo of people he’d half forgotten and a calendar date that he still very clearly remembered.
Today was the day that his father died. Today is the day his family was shattered.
What a cruel place to dump him.
Forcing himself to leave the lovely warmth of his covers he grabbed the framed photo. It was his family… his first one that is. He’s at the center of the picture sitting in his father’s lap and his father is in turn sitting on the ground and leaning on his pet hog. His mother behind them looking proud. On their left was Ushishimada being picked up by his mom and mighty devils was it weird to see him with hair again. And flanking them their many aunties and uncles and the other kids. Not blood but family all the same.
His eyes burned and tears fell onto the glass of the picture frame. After some hesitation Ton takes the photo and gently folds it before putting it into his pajama pocket. Real or not he wanted to keep it with him this time.
He doesn’t want to get out of bed. His inner child offers up the suggestion that maybe nothing bad will happen if he’s not there to witness it. But Ton knows better than that.
Ton slinks out of bed and is immediately thrown by how different his body is. So small and soft and unmarred by the stresses of homlessness and starvation that are waiting in his future. He really is just seven years old again.
He sees his childhood home on the day of the end with the eyes of a battle hardened warrior and not an already grieving child. The entire farm is tense with the quiet before a battle. A siege is what it looks like as he sees from the window uncle [Animal transformation magic] setting traps on the perimeter. His auntie [temperature control magic]’s forge putting out tons of Smoke as she pushed herself much harder than usual while Ushishimada raced back and forth from the forge to the field carrying pieces of armor to auntie [animal control magic] fitted the bigger animals with it.
As Ton passes rooms that would normally be crammed with the sounds of people he notices the emptiness. People’s things are packed up and there’s barely any humans or magicless mages left on the premises. Humans… What was his family’s dealings with humans? The answer didn’t come readily to his mind, only that there’d been humans and others without magic who came and went for reasons he was never really told. Ushishimada had been older, maybe he knew?
He left the children’s house to cross the yard to the main house. Ton noted the absence of the chickens which would normally be crowing at this time or running around begging for treats. The sows and cows were gone too. One of the hunting dogs clad in pointy, scribbled on armor greeted him enthusiastically before being called back over to auntie [animal control magic]’s side. Her door, there was no mistaking the elegantly carved wood with the hand painted looking singing animals covering it, was steadily dissolving by the door. Unbidden a chuckle came to him at the mental image of a bunch of farm animals getting dumped in the Hole for their safety. Hmm well, certainly whoever the enemy was they probably wouldn’t be able tell the difference between their humans and sorcerers who couldn’t do magic amongst so many like them.
The main house (damn his family really had some money and he never noticed before) was a house in mourning. Ushishimada’s mom was on the couch in the sitting room with his cousin [tiger mask human cousin] and her human friend, Akane. [Ushi’s mom] was putting the finishing touches on some masks for them, a black tiger and red hen respectively. It was as equally clear that she’d been crying recently as it was that the older kids were very much pretending that nothing was wrong. And from the hatchets strapped to the woman’s armor it was also clear that she expected fighting to start soon.
They greeted him warmly if concerningly affectionate. Like they may never see him again… and well... he never did see them again did he?
He heads towards his parents’ room slowly. Something about the hush making him want to tread quietly. And he wants to put this off as much as possible.
At the almost closed door he overhears a private conversation.
“At least I’ll see the bastard in Hell,” A voice like a walking mountain rumbles. Quietly Ton brushes away the tears that started falling fresh. From the richness of the baritone and the subtle clacking of tusks on tusks there was no mistaking his father’s voice for anyone else. The man’s breathing sounds labored even from a distance.
A woman’s voice… his mother’s voice responded. Low and thick and sharp like molasses. “That may be what happens, but that’s not remotely fair. And damn the devils for it.”
“You know, you can go to jail for saying such things,” His father half chuckled and half wheezed. “And Hell’s no place for a sweet thing like you.”
She snorted incredulously and playfully swatted his arm, “Really? Flirting at a time like this? What a pig.”
“Wild boar, thank you very much.” He retorted. It was a routine clearly familiar to them. Ton saw through the crack in the door their fingers intertwining. His father’s pale chubby ones slotted into his mother’s dark work roughened ones looking almost like a piano.
His mother leaned in conspiratorially and asked in a tone he strained to hear, “Your magic… could you…?”
His father’s magic? To be honest Ton couldn’t remember what kind of magic his father had at all. Nor his mother’s for that matter.
“Hmmm no,” his father answered after some thought. “That mushroom bastard killed Kokuo. Without a proper anchor… I wouldn’t be able to stay myself. I’d only end up causing more harm than good.” He sighed wistfully, “Besides, with this kind of magic… it’s best to go when your time’s up.”
“I suppose that’s true.”
“Tell me again… what happens to humans when you die?”
You? Was his mother…?
“Well, now, unlike you sorcerers none of us has the power to revive the dead.So no one really knows for certain. Lots of folks think that if you are an evil person you go to a hell for a while and if you are a good you get to be reborn as something or someone else. There’s also the heavens, where good people go for like, eternal rewards of some boring shit like that. Some of the monks think that if you’re like, holy enough you stop being reborn and simply cease to be? Spiritually? Or something?”
“Oh?”
“I don’t really get the appeal. Of just ceasing. Why not just live different lives for all of eternity?”
“That does sound nice. Far more lenient than our fate.”
“Course there’s always stuff like ghosts and limbo and all that.”
“Limbo?”
“It's a kinda state the dead enter sometimes before they move on. A nowhere place where ghosts are born. Angry souls that refuse to rest or simply folks that have some business to finish before they do. No one ever really makes happy stories about it. ...I wish I could meet you again in my next life.”
His father hummed, “That would be lovely.”
Before he could catch himself Ton sniffled.
“Hey pigglet! Come give yer daddy a hug!” His father boomed like his lungs weren’t failing him. Ton pushed open the door to see his mother helping to prop up his father so that the big man’s back was against the headboard. Right, somehow his mind impressed the date of his father’s death but the method had slipped into the sands of time. There was something extremely unnerving seeing a good portion of the man’s chest just… crumbling. Large portions of it were bendaged as best as possible but the web of cracks extended past the edges, the affected skin dry irritated and flakey. Bits fell off when his father breathed just a bit too deeply, creating what Ton could imagine was just the worst bed experience of crumbs in your sheets but grosser. In the places where the magic had completely eaten through the skin he could see shiny white pockets of fat crisscrossed with fungal hyphae. There is no shortage to the horror that settles into Ton’s gut that his father would have likely died days ago if he were a leaner man.
It also doesn’t escape him that his mother is dressed for war. Combat boots and sections of scale armor over her hunting clothes. The vital bits of course, the major organs of the torso and places with large arteries like the neck, upper arms and thighs. Her crossbow, and a full quiver of arrows, her hunting knife (a beautiful knife he needed to commission someone to make him a copy at some point it was fucking watered steel!), and a pair of pistols… emergency weapons.
Ton had nothing against guns, he was a damn good shot himself but he’d hunted with his mother. Guns were noisy and dulled your ability to hear after using them. And the smell of gunsmoke dulls the nose (not that you could actually smell anything but the boss when fighting at his side). His mother was fond of saying that any of your senses could provide you with life saving information so it was best to avoid impairing them unless you had no other choice.
And it looked like his mother was expecting the worst.
At her hip was her mask that looked like she’d given the black leather a fresh shine. The snarling panther maw was a thing of beauty, something his father thought as well as his tattoo of it still shone proudly on his father’s remaining properly intact shoulder. Mask...human. Huh. Actually if his mother was human then so was his cousin [tiger mask] and her friend Akane too. Ton supposed having masks in this world were useful to humans, they’d be mistaken for mages and less likely to be attacked or sold. But why wear it to a fight? It wasn’t a helmet like Tetsujo’s mask, it didn’t offer up much protection.
His mother kissed him softly on the forehead and the gleam of her necklace caught his eye. Speaking of things that weren’t very helpful on the battlefield… the necklace was more like thick twine dyed black with colorful beads, fine enough. But then there was the claw hanging from it that had to be about as long as a uni-bear claw and curved like a cat’s. Ton didn’t know if it was real, it kinda looked like it was made of stone of some kind, but it certainly looked sharp. Sometimes Ton’s brain liked to throw the image of her accidentally getting stabbed or cut by that claw because sometimes brains are assholes like that. It never did as far as he could recall, according to her it was a good luck charm. She’d once told him that it saved her life.
A frown crosses his face. Ton had no idea if his mother survived this day or not.
His father gave him an affectionate side hug that looked like it clearly caused him pain but the man was grinning through it.
“Dad… you’re dying aren’t you?” Ton hates how the voice that comes out of his mouth sounds like a child. He hates that he feels like a child. Hates that he’s in the body of a child who can’t join the coming fight or steal some healing smoke to save anyone. He hates that they look at him like he’s a child even if he technically is at the moment.
He hates what’s coming next.
One thing he is thankful for is that his parents never lied to him. That he’d forgotten that his mother was human or what they’d done for a living was on him not asking that many questions. His parents didn’t sugarcoat it when they confirmed that yes his father was dying. That everyone dies eventually. That his mother may die fighting the bastards who hexed his father. That some of his aunts and uncles may face the same fate.
Of course Ton knows that death isn’t anything to fear so long as you’ve got a cause worth dying for.
“Do you want to die?” Asked Death as she stood on the other side of his parent’s bed waiting for his father to kick the bucket. Instead of the terrifying gas masked firefighter skeleton soldier was a black-skinned woman, not Black as in brown like his mother but black as in a crisp winter night during a blackout. Her clothing was also black but more like the black of black jeans washed at the wrong temperature and looked rather cozy.
Natsuki was not with her.
“Your Partner is safe.” Death said like she heard his thoughts. “This is not a place for her. I ask again, do you want to die?”
Did he? He looked at his parents and his younger self frozen in time. Ton hadn’t died gloriously in an ultimately futile battle against powerful sorcerers trying to change the world or even protect something important to him. (And suddenly he feels like he failed his parents at that thought.) He’d been killed like an annoyance by someone he admired. Betrayed. And gotten his comrades killed by the grief that his death caused.
...and Tetsujo was still alive the last he’d seen. It was still up in the air if Dokuga was still kicking or if the bo--if Kai’d eaten him as well. If Tetsujo was still alive he’d certainly try to save Ushishimada and Saji’s heads to revive them. Ton knew for a fact that his own corpse was unsalvageable, the massive chunk taken out of his temple certainly contained his devil tumor and without it… he didn’t really know how one would go about reviving without it. And…
So long as some of his loved ones were still alive… isn’t that something worth staying around for?
“I don’t want to die,”Ton said and knew for certain. As sure as the worry slithering in his gut. “If I can help my comrades in any way that’s what I want to do.”
“So that is your choice?”
“Yes.”
Reality blacked out again.

Gift Hunting – An SLBP Fic
Summary: A certain man's birthday is coming up, so Nobunaga drags Akane to find a gift.
Characters: Nobunaga and Mitsuhide!MC
Word count: Approx. 2600 words
Genre: Friendship and humor
Rating: T
A/N: This fic has been in WIP hell for 6 goddamn months!! Part fic, part character study, part extensive headcanon. I saw this post and it cemented my ideal dynamics forever. Enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is mid-afternoon when Akane runs into him; a tall man made taller by his geta and conical hat, pulled low over his eyes. He holds her steady by the shoulder, and for a second she is close enough to smell him.
"I apologise for bumping into you," she says as she bows her thanks when she's let go.
"It's alright," he murmurs. The lower half of his face is covered by a scarf even though the weather isn't cold at all.
There is an inkling in the back of her mind that she knows this man, like the pieces of a puzzle she is so close to putting together. The man wears a traveller's robe, but it looks far too clean and new for it to have been used even a day on the road. His steps, while smooth and confident, are also very careful in the way someone inexperienced with geta is.
Akane jogs to catch up to him before he can get too far. "Excuse me, are you perhaps Lord No–" She can barely get his name out before the man grabs her by the arm to pull her into nearest alleyway away from the crowds.
"How did you figure out it was me," Nobunaga hisses. He's kept his hat on, but Akane can see his face now.
There was a lot she could point out that led to her suspicions, from the robes, to the shoes, to the outright suspicious scarf covering his face, so instead she says, "You smell like castella."
"What."
"You smell like castella," Akane repeats. "I noticed you pacing back and forth outside the kitchen as it was baking, Milord." She leans forward a bit to discretely sniff at his crossed arms. "I believe you're carrying some in your sleeves."
"So the Puppy's friend is a puppy herself, is she?" Nobunaga says. "Should I have kept you as my poison taster? I’ll have you sniffing out poisons instead of cakes."
Akane very carefully ignores Lord Nobunaga's red cheeks and dropped arms. "I'd rather you didn't, Milord. I'm much more useful to you alive and cooking." She thinks about it for a second, then adds, "Also if I had died, I wouldn't be with Mitsuhide, and we both know how you feel about that."
There is an unspoken understanding between them that Nobunaga finds their relationship, and its subsequent effect on Mitsuhide, very, very amusing. He feels that Akane has, in his words, "loosened the stick up his butt". In practice, all that means for Akane is that Nobunaga is about as supportive as a Lord of a clan is expected to be and then some, and every so often makes complaints that she isn't making Mitsuhide relaxed enough for him to skip work. For her part, Akane makes his desserts extra sweet and drops hints at him whenever Mitsuhide is too busy to take care of himself properly.
"Anyway, what are you doing in town?" Akane asks. She frowns as she recalls his plans for the day. "No, more importantly, don't you have an important meeting to attend?" That was the impression she got from Mitsuhide, who had spent better part of the morning running around the castle preparing for it.
"Not so important that Mitsuhide can't handle it without me," Nobunaga says. Mitsuhide must be back at the castle now, handling it. It's no wonder Nobunaga is in town without a care in the world; only Mitsuhide can drag him back. Akane glances at his smirk and knows instantly that it is part of his plan.
And she wants nothing to do with it.
I'll just tell Mitsuhide I saw him in town and he can come get him, Akane decides. "Then, if you'll excuse me, Milord."
"And let you tattle to that mother hen? You're coming with me." Nobunaga turns with a swish of his cloak, marching out of the alley and onto the main road without so much as looking back.
May the gods give me strength, she prays.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Their first destination is a familiar bookshop, so Akane heads straight for the cookbooks while Nobunaga interrogates the bookseller for the how-to guides.
She flips through a book of illustrated dessert recipes: a new publication containing recipes for desserts from all over the country, and even a few European ones. Nobunaga would love these, she thinks.
Out of the corner of her eye, she sees Nobunaga pull out several books and flip through them before angrily shoving them back onto the shelf. When he finds one he deems suitable, he stalks over to shove it in her face.
"This looks like this would help in that inane quest of his," Nobunaga says.
Nobunaga had explained, on the way to the shop, that he was looking for a gift for Mitsuhide. He did not necessarily use those words, but Akane had nodded and agreed in all the right places and seen underneath the underneath. Personally, Akane thought Mitsuhide would be happier if Nobunaga wouldn't try to escape his meetings so often.
101 Skits: The Complete Guide to Comedy! says the cover in bold and bright kanji once it's at a reasonable distance from her face. It looks effective enough, considering the smile on Nobunaga's face as he reads a passage.
There is but one problem.
"I'm sorry, Milord, but Lord Mitsuhide already has that book," Akane says.
"You can't be serious," Nobunaga says incredulously. "It was only published a couple weeks ago."
"It's a recent purchase. I caught him practicing to the garden cats once or twice." And to Inuchiyo and Hideyoshi, but Nobunaga doesn’t need to know that.
Nobunaga's look of absolute disgust is a sight to behold as he returns the book to its original spot. "It's amazing he managed that without any disgusting baby talk."
"Oh, I wouldn't say that." Mitsuhide had made valiant effort to deliver his performances seriously at first, only for his speech to devolve into baby talk the more the cats curled around him. When he got his bearings back, he arranged the cats before him to act as an audience, but even they were unimpressed. Akane witnessed the entire spectacle from behind a corner and redirected passing retainers so he could have his precious moments of practice.
Akane goes back to studying her recipe book, while Nobunaga ignores the  guides in favour of perusing books of poetry. He bribes the shopkeeper's child with castella to bring him his favourites.
Nobunaga comes back with a deeply unsatisfied look on his face.
"Nothing caught your attention?" Akane asks, not looking up from the book. She's trying to commit as many recipes to memory as she can.
"Nothing's good enough," he says decisively. Then, noticing the book, "What have you been looking at this whole time?"
She hands him the book opened to a recipe for a European cake with honey. "It's a recipe book for desserts."
"Are you going to buy it?"
"It's a little out of my budget," Akane confesses, "and the ingredients aren't easy to get so I won't have much use for it anytime soon."
Nobunaga flips through the book a little more, stopping whenever a particularly tasty looking dessert captures his attention. He slaps the book shut as if he's made a decision.
"Shopkeeper!" Nobunaga calls out as he waves the book in the air. "I will be making a purchase!."
"Wait, what? You don't have to– I mean, that's not necessary–"
"Don't be mistaken," says Nobunaga, cutting off her protests. "This is for my benefit, not yours. You're just the one making them for me." He grins haughtily at her. "Do you doubt my power? I can get any ingredients in the land."
Stunned, Akane watches as Nobunaga hands over the money. Is this a gift? Can she accept it as a gift? She didn't consider herself as particularly irreplaceable (especially not to Nobunaga, who could get any chef he wanted), but there is a quiet thrill in her heart at the thought of being important enough to warrant a personal gift, even if he said otherwise.
"Thank you, Milord," she says, only it comes out softer than she intended.
"Right," he says and –are his ears red? Can't be; that's just his hair– shoves his purchase into her chest before striding out of the store.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They continue hunting for a gift.
"Does this look like him?" Nobunaga asks, holding something that resembles a plate.
"In what way?" Akane asks back. It is a hideous plate. Akane is insulted on Mitsuhide's behalf, but also afraid to hear the answer on the off chance she ends up seeing the resemblance.
Akane has come to the conclusion that Nobunaga's taste in gift can be summarized in three words: rare, expensive, and if possible, foreign. It's not necessarily bad taste; things that are rare and expensive tend to look aesthetically pleasing, though this plate-like thing is an exception.
It's just that Nobunaga has rejected each and every item out of hand.
"Are you sure you didn't want to get him that nice tea set?" Akane asks as they exit the store. Rather than a gift for Mitsuhide, the result of their outing is a recipe book, a new obi pin, and a crate of fresh fruit to be delivered first thing in the morning.
"Mitsuhide doesn't need another tea set," Nobunaga says. "He's got too many tea cups as it is."
He is, unfortunately, right.
"That doesn't change the fact that you're still without a gift, Lord Nobunaga," Akane points out. "Shall we try one more time before returning to the castle?"
It's nice that Nobunaga is going at it so earnestly. It means he values Mitsuhide too. It makes her want to help him, even when she really needs to get back to prepare for dinner.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Predictably, Nobunaga doesn't find anything that fulfills his mysterious requirements. Too boring, he says. It's ugly, he says. He aims a long contemplative look at a strange jar, before returning it to the shelf with a sigh.
Now they're sitting across from each other in an expensive tea house where Nobunaga is spoiling his dinner and his dessert. There is a plate of colourful mochi between them to share. They look delicious, but Akane is having mixed feelings about this entire thing.
While Akane has always been aware of the difference in their stations, and has acted accordingly, she's never been wary of spending time with him, the few times he's asked her to. It's not that Akane is unafraid of Nobunaga, because he inspires a healthy amount of fear in anyone. If she's allowed to be honest, she'd say she doesn't see Nobunaga the same way Mitsuhide and Inuchiyo and HIdeyoshi do.
And therein lies the difference.
No one's ever asked, but Akane doesn't care for unification. It's Mitsuhide's dream, and Mitsuhide's dream is her dream, but Akane has never desired anything but a peaceful life without war. It's just that they seem to think unification is the only way. So to her, Nobunaga is less the lord of her clan and more of an employer, and occasionally something like a friend who can kill her at any time without remorse. Does Nobunaga know of her potentially treasonous thoughts? She hopes not, although she likes to think he's a bit more relaxed around her.
It's a moot point now though, because Akane has decided that she'd follow Mitsuhide into hell if that's what his heart decided to do. And if following Mitsuhide means following Nobunaga as well, so be it.
That being said, the mochi has nothing to do with her loyalty, but rather...
"If you wanted mochi, Lord Nobunaga, you could have just told me so. I would have made them for you," she says, pouting. She's retained as his personal dessert chef, damn it!
"What are you upset about; I eat everything else you make, don’t I?" He pushes the plate towards her. "Eat the green one; the owner says they flavoured it with something foreign." There are two of each flavour, and sure enough there is a green one left for her. "If you can recognise the flavour, you can ask for the ingredient the next time the foreign traders come. That is what I keep you for, after all."
As expected, the mochi is delicious, and Akane relaxes despite herself. Nobunaga is being unusually kind to her today. Now that she thinks about it, hasn't everything he bought today been for her? The recipe book she was reading, the obi pin she was eyeing, even the rare fruits she's always wanted to try.
"Thank you for today, Lord Nobunaga. I'm very grateful." And she really is. Not just for the day, either. For Mitsuhide. For Inuchiyo. He is as necessary to them as they are to her. And maybe she's only realized this now, but Akane does like him. Perhaps not in the way Nobunaga expects from his retainers, but she does.
"Hmph. I reward all my retainers who serve me well." He takes a sip of his tea. "You're too easily satisfied, besides."
"Maybe I am," Akane laughs.
Nobunaga orders another round of tea and sweets, and tells her to choose as she likes, so Akane lets herself enjoy his company, and pretend for a moment that they are simply a pair of friends.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the end, Mitsuhide catches them on the road to the castle, the Hand of Judgement bearing down on Nobunaga's shoulder as he sneaks up on them without a sound. Akane leaps an embarrassing three feet into the air, while Nobunaga shifts into an attack stance.
"And just what was so important than you ran away from your meeting, Milord?" Mitsuhide asks with only a hint of anger. "We are quite lucky the meeting went well even without you."
"As if I'd expect anything less from my Right Hand," Nobunaga says, rolling his eyes.
It's cute how happy he looks at the praise. "Right, well, did you at least find what you were looking for?"
Akane and Nobunaga share a glance, an unspoken conversation in the split second of eye contact. "I'm not going to tell you," he declares.
"Lord Nobunaga!" Mitsuhide starts, scolding his liege lord all the way back to the castle while they walk together.
As their shadows stretch in the setting sun, Akane feels content.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Epilogue
Akane snuggles into Mitsuhide's chest on their shared futon, seeking his warmth. She missed him. Mitsuhide tucks her head under his chin and holds her tight.
"I'm sorry I went out with Lord Nobunaga without telling you," she begins.
Mitsuhide squeezes her tighter. "Knowing him, I'm sure he didn't give you much of a choice. And you don't have to apologize; I don't want to be the kind of man who doesn't let you live your own life." He chuckles self-consciously. "But I will admit that I feel terribly jealous."
Akane maneuvers herself until she is on top of him. Now it is Mitsuhide who is looking up at her. "Then, my darling, would you like some reassurance that you're the only one in my heart?"
"If you please," he breaths as their mouths meet for a kiss, and sets the tone for the rest of the night.
(The next morning, Nobunaga announces Mitsuhide's gift: a week-long vacation, to be accompanied by Akane.)

2019 Fic Roundup
I actually wrote enough this year to answer most of these questions. 😂 If you haven’t done this yourself, feel free to join in the fun! ❤️💕
Stats
Total words written: 18,030
Shortest story: The Death of a Montague (832)
Longest story: Akane One-Half (ongoing) (14k+ in general; roughly 11k this year, FFN)
Fics Posted (Gen)
Akane One-Half: More like updating because I’ve been writing on and off for two years but I did add three chapters this year.
Through the Forest: It’s technically gen because Pidge and Lance don’t have romantic feelings for each other (yet). It was completely inspired by @krissychan2 ’s art of them as nymph and fairy respectively.
Fics Posted (Plance)
Love from the Future - Inspired by a prompt generator that said to write about a person who gets a typewriter and finds a love letter from the future and they attempt to find that person. I didn’t follow the prompt to the T but I had fun with it. And getting encouragement from @rueitae during the letter part meant a lot because I was worried about it staying in-character and whether or not it was going to be too fluffy. X3
Chocolat - Self-indulgent oneshot inspired by a little college get together. XD It was actually originally going to be part of a multichapter story (that I thoroughly outlined from beginning to end, no less!) but it just didn’t work out. OTL
Fics Posted (Rosvolio)
The Death of a Montague - The prompt was to write a fic based on a song for Rosvolio and I knew right away I wanted to do it to Brendon Urie’s Death of a Bachelor. Plus I’m a sucker for guys taking on the wives’ last name. XD
Specifics
Best Title: The Death of a Montague. Only because of Brendon Urie though since his title was genius to describe a man happily getting married. Same thing here on top of Benvolio cutting off the last remaining ties to his abusive uncle.
Worst Title: Probably Through the Forest. I could’ve picked a better title to reflect the game Lance was playing on Pidge or his motives, but *shrugs*.
Favorite opening lines:
-
“I caught you, you sneaky little bastard!”
The fairy in her hands didn’t even try to struggle from her grasp. Instead he licked the remaining berry juice off the corner of his lips and grinned at her. “So you have, little nymph.”
-
I was fresh off of writing for Akane One-Half so, yeah, that’s why you’re seeing swearing from me here. XP
Favorite closing lines:
-
The card included two ticket stubs for the Killbot Phastasm movie that long faded. He wondered if Lance knew she kept it all these years.
He put the card down and got to work. He’d let him find it. It would be another opportunity for her to talk about her feelings with current Lance rather than past Lance.
He smiled at the thought.
Tonight would be a good night.
-
Endings aren’t my strong suits but I did like tying up the stable time loop. XD
General Questions:
- Looking back, did you write more fics than you thought you would this year, less than you thought, or about what you predicted?
Given my personality, just about what I predicted. I wish I had done more though. Oh well, that’s what 2020 is going to be for. XD
- What pairing/genre/fandom did you write most?
Plance/fluff/Voltron respectively. Especially fluff because The Death of a Montague was fluffy and Akane One-Half had some fluff toward the end of the last chapter I posted on FFN.
- What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
Rosvolio/Still Star-Crossed for sure! I wish I hadn’t taken so long with the soulmate AU but I’m still in the middle of writing it so it’ll be for this year. XD
- Did you take any writing risks this year?
Other than trying to get familiar with Pidge and Lance’s personality? Not really. 😅 I almost did with one of the oneshots in mind to take place after Through the Forest (I actually had a rough draft of it), but I was worried one of them would be too dark. I mean, I’ve written dark stuff before, but someone probably would’ve been like, “What the heck, Faye?!” and I wouldn’t have blamed them one bit. XDD
- Do you have any fanfic or general writing goals for the new year?
Well, I saved up and got a new laptop so I’m just hoping I’ll be more productive this year writing wise.
- What’s your favorite story this year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you the happiest?
Hoo, boy. Tie between Through the Forest and Love from the Future. The former because I was happy to write something coherent inspired by a beautiful piece of art and the latter because fluff. ❤️💕
- Okay, NOW your most popular story.
Definitely Love from the Future and I’m okay with that. XD
- Story most underappreciated by the universe:
Haha, Chocolat. Which I am also okay with because 1) It was literally just posted and 2) It was super self-indulgent. XP
- Story that could’ve been better:
The Death of a Montague. Most of my energy went into the sonnet (it took me HOURS to compose that sonnet alone 😂) so I felt like I didn’t put as much heart into the rest of the story. T_T. But a good amount of people enjoyed it and I appreciated that.
- Story with the sexiest scene:
HAHAHAHA! I JUST CAN WRITE A CHASTE KISS SCENE.
- Most “holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you” story:
N/A. Again, if I had gone with that oneshot as a sequel to Through the Forest, that would have been a different story. To be fair, it was going to follow the aftermath of the Thing™ rather than during, but still….
- Saddest story?
Eh, none of them really? I mean Through the Forest has super light angst but only toward the end. Pidge clearly missing her brother and the story alluding to Lance having lost someone permanently. The second other sequel would have been part fluffy part angsty but… there is a reason I haven’t gone through with them for editing/posting…
- Most fun?
Let me shake it up and say Akane One-Half. XD Everything is still a puzzle and I think I’m getting the gist of how most events will go.
- Story with single sweetest moment?
Chip and his scenes with Lance and Pidge, I think in Love from the Future. ❤️💕
- Hardest story to write?
I mean, I had challenges with the parts that were supposed to be the meat of the story (e.g. the love letter and the sonnet) but outside of that I could recognize when something needed to be cut or expanded on and I’m happy for that.
- Easiest/Most fun story to write?
Chocolat. XD Got to include Hunk being a troll and not being afraid of Pidge’s wrath because he’s currently overseas. He has to come back to America sometime. 😂
- Did any stories shift your perceptions of the characters?
That’s part of the point of me writing Akane One-Half. Wanted to see if changing the situation would change their characters and I’m having fun figuring it out. Waiting for someone to complain about certain characterization later down the road but…*shrugs*
- Most overdue story?
Complete wise: The Death of a Montague
WIP wise: The Rosvolio soulmate AU. I got a bit ambitious on how the whole soulmate thing works in that AU and I’m working on it not being so info dumpy. 😅
- What are your fic writing goals for next year?
1) Finish the Rosvolio soulmate AU fic
2) Update Akane One-Half faster (Like I legit have two arcs written in first drafts and detailed notes for the two arcs after that. I have no excuse 😂).
3) Write that Plance Vampire/Fledgling-esque AU. I will figure something out, dangit.
4) MAYBE write a long ATLA oneshot based on that Probending AU an artist made for Katara, Toph, and Azula with Suki as their coach. It wouldn’t take me long to find the artist and give credit if I do go this route. Just thought it’d be fun to explore Azula’s character based on what Aaron Ehaz had in mind.
5) (super tentative) Write that oneshot idea I had for Dororo. I miss my babies. 😭
Welp, that was fun! Saw @rueitae ’s post and wanted to give it a shot if I published four things and updated one this year. 👍 Hope you guys have fun with this is you decide to do it!

“Dean! Dean, come on, you’re being too slow!” The soft voice rang from around me. My lips curled into a frown as I huffed, sitting up and glancing around the large field. Sunflowers...? These... They were her favorite.
“Dean-o, don’t make me throw water on you.” The voice chuckled as I wrung my body, turning around to look for her. To see her once more time... Just one more. “Y/N!? Y/N, where are you!?” I yelled out into the open field, yet the only response I got was the soft breeze and the rustle from the large flowers that seemed to fly high above your head now.
“Look down, silly,” she whispered. I snapped my head back down, my attention falling from the sky to the girl that stood in front of me. Her usual get-up replaced by a soft and flowing sundress that drifted around in the breeze. Swallowing thickly, I reached towards her with one of my shaking hands, her own suddenly grasping mine as she yanked me forward. I collapsed - broke. Wrapping my arms tightly around her as she sighed softly, her hands trapped against my chest as I felt the wet trails of tears drag down my scruffed cheeks with a gagged cough catching in my throat.
“You... You’re here.” I mumbled into her soft hair. The wind answered with a gust as she nodded, humming.
“I’m always here, Dean... Always.”
“I... I’m so sorry,” I groveled, slowly dropping to my knees in front of her as she tilted her head, furrowing her brows. I wrapped both arms around her thighs and squeezed them as I coughed more, the thick tears dripping onto the soil beneath us. “I’m so, so, sorry, Y/N... It wasn’t supposed to be you! The... The monster moved and I... You...” I hissed as her soft hand ran through my locks. Dragging them back, in a petting motion as I whimpered into the soft material of her dress. “It wasn’t supposed to be you.”
“I know... Oh, Dean, I know it wasn’t - Sam, he warned us how dangerous the hunt was going to be and, yet, we didn’t listen.” She spoke sweetly as I clenched my jaw, fighting back the pain that washed over me in waves. Suddenly, the material I had buried my face into, slowly moved away, as well as Y/N’s body; it melting through my grasp just like when she...
“Dean, you cannot dwell on what happened to me... The hunting life was dangerous and we both knew that it was only a matter of time,”
“A matter of time for what?! Your Fiance to kill you by shooting you because he got scared by the sudden spirit that appeared?! Because that’s NOT a good enough excuse for what I did to you, Y/N!” I spat, rising up from the soil as the wind sudden huffed, the swaying sunflowers suddenly halting in their dance as Y/N stared at me.
Slowly she moved towards me, stopping just in front of me with a frown. One of her hands reached up, caressing my warm and wet cheek with her cooler palm, the rough pad of her thumb dragging a few tears away from my eye.
“It’s not an excuse, Dean. I knew it would happen, however, a million other things could’ve happened. We just chose the wrong one.” She whispered, leaning up and pressing her lips chastely to my cheek. I clamped my eyes closed as I clenched my fists.
“Cas could bring you back. Rowena could bring you back. Hell, Sam and I could bring you back!” I hissed as she took a step back, shaking her head. “No. Dean. I know how this whole death thing works with you, and it’s not going to happen anymore, at least not for me.” She slightly spat as I snapped open my eyes, staring at her with parted lips. I couldn’t fight her... Not on this.
“You need to go. Sam’s looking for you and besides... I’ll always be here, Dean.” Y/N smiled softly, the venom from before now gone as she took a step towards me, standing on her tip-toes, I quickly wrapped my arms around her. The sunflowers swaying once more around us as the sun beams down on top of us with its warmth.
“I don’t want to leave you... I just want to stay here with... With you, please. Please, don’t make me leave.” I growl into her hair, a soft sigh passes against my cheek but before I could hear her words... I’m thrown into darkness.
“Dean! Dean, where the hell are you?!” I groan as my vision bubbles and blurs from being hastily awoken. I cough as I slowly sit up from the soft earth below me, narrowing my eyes, I glare up to see the large sunflowers standing above me... Shit. The sound of running footsteps causes me to look over my shoulder and see Sam racing towards me, panic soothed into relief.
“Dean! God, what the hell happened to you?” He slightly pants as he takes a knee next to me. My mind foggy as I slowly shrug, groaning as I waved for him to help me up.
“I... Have no idea. I just woke up here.” I sigh as he frowns at me. I felt a pang of guilt for making him worry to so much and, yet, here I was taking a catnap in the middle of a sunflower field.
“Okay, well, let’s get back to the bunker and you can get some real sleep... You look like a raccoon.” Sam nervously chuckles as he turns and starts back into the direction he came from, leaving me to frown and rub at the underparts of my eyes.
“I don’t look like a fucking raccoon,” I growled to myself before heading off after him, half happy to see my own bed, half saddened about leaving the place that reminds me so much of... Her.
I gasped as I awoke in the field again, quickly rising from the soft dirt as I turned on my feet, taking in the surroundings.
“Y/N?! Y/N, where are you?!”I shouted out into the large stems as I huffed, quickly walking through the paths that were between each row. But, with each step, I could feel anxiety wriggling its way into my chest as I broke into a run than to a sprint. “Y/N!” I came to a halt as I reached the end of the path, awe taking over as I stared at the crisp, clear lake and the thousands of sunflowers that were scattered among the large oak trees that could hold a castle within their branches.
“Dean? Back so soon?” A soft voice called as I snapped my head towards it, a large grin pulling on my lips as Y/N moved out from behind one of the large trees, a bundle of sunflowers resting in her forearms.
“I... I wanted to see you again.” I nervously coughed as we met halfway. The trees and flowers swaying as the few birds around us chirped and sang; the peace that radiated off of Y/N made me feel... Happy.
“I told you I would be waiting for you, dork... Why are you back so soon though?” She asked, furrowing her brows as she reached down, grabbing my hand and dragging me behind her towards the field that was near the lake.
“I... Sam, he told me I needed to rest more since our last hunt and I thought of you so... Here I am.” I grinned as she giggled, melting my heart more as I swallowed thickly at the slow horror that worked up that I would have to leave her again...
“Dean, just enjoy this time we have, please... You always were such a worrier,” Y/N teased as we sat among the sunflowers, listening to the water and soft noises that played around us.
I smirked at her, “I had reasons to worry.” She frowned slightly and shrugged, “and you still do; many reasons actually. But, for now, I want to just... Lay here with you. In your arms. While everything around us just... Happens.” She whispered, dropping the sunflowers to her side as I nodded, seeing no reason to speak as I wrapped my arm tightly around her shoulders and squeezed her against my side. The soft fabric cools beneath my palm on her hip as I swallowed thickly, turning and pressing a passionate kiss to the top of her head.
“I love you, so much, Y/N... And I miss you every day, more each day too.” I whispered into the quiet air as she hums, nodding against my shoulder.
“I miss you each day I’m here, Dean... And I love you more than you’ll ever know.” She whispered against my chest, pressing a light kiss to the same fabric that covered her. “But, for now, please... Let’s just be lost among the flowers.”
The End :’) 💖😭

Refuge
[I’ve posted the link to this on my writing blog, though never the fic in full here].
Summary: Evenings like these were rare, and once every year when they occurred, Akane became increasingly aware of how out of practice she’d fallen when it came to small talk. Rating: G Characters: Akane Tsunemori and Nobuchika Ginoza Post-Movie (First Film)
      It never ceased to amaze her just how painful a shoe could be when worn long enough. Akane stooped down, slipping off her black pumps and letting out a sigh of relief as she stepped onto the cool ground. The air around her was crisp and rich with the smells of the surrounding flora on the venue’s rooftop garden: bursts of purple heather and gardenia among others she couldn’t name. Through these wound a stone path, one she followed aimlessly until she reached a bench at the end and took a seat. She inhaled again as she stretched her legs out before her, trying to enjoy the merits of her escape while she could.      Greet the higher-ups from the other ministries. Smile and be accommodating. Move on. Kasei’s voice had echoed in her head throughout the entire evening, each repetition causing her smile to become more and more strained. Evenings like these were rare, and once every year when they occurred, Akane became increasingly aware of how out of practice she’d fallen when it came to small talk.      The realization was almost funny. Once, she would’ve enjoyed herself fully: the banquet might have been a reminder that she had made it in her career, that she’d been chosen as a person who could best represent the Public Safety Bureau. Back then, she never would’ve pictured herself feeling any different. And yet, she thought to herself as she exhaled slowly and closed her eyes, like everything else those feelings and ambitions had changed.      “Tsunemori.”      Akane’s eyes opened slowly, almost reluctantly, to take in the familiar frame of her colleague standing before her. Ginoza raised an eyebrow slightly, and quickly she sat up and crossed her feet. “I needed some fresh air.”      “Tonight more than usual, I’d think.” The corners of his lips twitched upward, as if to tell her he understood. He turned to one of the nearby plants and studied it for a moment before speaking again. “Inspector Shimotsuki told me to find you.”      “And you did exactly that, Ginoza-san,” Akane said simply, moving to the side of the bench. With a small nod, he turned back and took a seat beside her. She watched him as he leaned back, his hair falling over his shoulders and his eyes closing. It’d been a long time since she’d seen him like this, outside of the bureau or even just in a state of ease. He’d never been the type to relax, always worrying or stewing about something he couldn’t control.      In fact, she thought, suppressing the smirk that threatened to cross her face, she wasn’t sure she ever had seen him like this. Over the course of the six years they’d worked together their relationship had undergone drastic changes. The Ginoza she’d first met had been a very different man: difficult, cantankerous to the extent that she’d finally confronted him, even cruel at times. Yet over time he’d evolved into this kinder version of himself, and as she’d learned to understand him more, he’d become one of her most--if not her most--trusted colleagues.      She was certain he knew that too. As if in response, he stretched his own feet forward, just as she’d done moments before. “I can’t tell if you’re enjoying yourself or not.”      “Really.” He smirked, not bothering to open his eyes. “Let’s just say I’m glad enforcers aren’t expected to uphold the same standards.”      “You do though.”      For a moment, he was silent, and Akane wondered if it wasn’t a topic he wanted her to press further. While she’d grown to understand him, there were still subjects he preferred to avoid, and she found herself wondering if this was one of them. Ginoza had adjusted to his role as an enforcer more quickly than anyone had anticipated, and often Akane had wondered if it was truly the role he’d adjusted to or just a necessity for a cause.      The latter wouldn’t have been a first for someone in their line of work.      “Old habit,” he muttered finally, interrupting her thoughts and glancing at her. “Not necessarily a good one, either.” Something in his tone confirmed her suspicion, so instead, she reached for her shoes. She could feel him watching her as she picked one up and studied it.      “Do you think if I left them off anyone would notice?” she asked, a part of her only half-kidding. To her surprise, he laughed.      “I think it’d actually be an improvement,” he said, his gaze drifting toward the shoe that still laid flat on the ground. “It’s uncomfortable enough without having to watch you hobble around in them for the rest of the night.”      “Am I that obvious?”      “Tsunemori.” He turned to her, his eyes softening. “I’m just teasing. You were starting to seem a little on edge, though. I’m guessing your shoes weren’t the reason.”      Akane paused for a minute, running a hand over the soft, black suede. He was right of course. With each guest she greeted, every question they asked and narrative they gave without reason, she’d found it harder to listen. Her mind had drifted into a lull, listening to the low buzz around her and the quiet orchestra music that played in the background. At first, she’d chalked it off on tiredness, though quickly she’d dismissed the thought, knowing fully that it wouldn’t have had such a strong effect. Yet the more hands she’d shaken--the more faces she’d seen--the more she felt like her time would’ve been better spent elsewhere.      She’d sighed, a sad smile crossing her face. “I’m sorry you got dragged along on your night off.”      “Well, I was going to volunteer anyway,” he admitted, his voice somewhat distant. “Kunizuka can’t even remember the last time she had a night to herself.” Akane didn’t miss the implication in his tone. While it went widely unspoken to her knowledge, her colleague of the same rank had a habit of playing favorites when it came to the enforcers, even when it inconvenienced them or conflicted with their schedules. When the topic of the annual ministry banquet had come up, Inspector Shimotsuki had immediately requested that Yayoi be a guest for what she called “cautionary measures,” and that was who Akane had expected to see when the car had arrived. Instead, she’d found Ginoza there, being given an earful about proper conduct in the upcoming setting. Akane had relieved him once they’d arrived, and Shimotsuki had busied herself in chatter among the others.      “Do you miss it?”      “This?” he asked, and she nodded. “No. I thought I would at first. If anything, coming here proved the opposite.” He paused as if thinking for a moment before continuing. “You know, they’d placed bets before your first one.”      “Bets?” she asked, turning to him.      “Kagari’s idea,” he continued, smirking. “‘See if the new girl can last’ was the gist of it. These banquets can be a lot for a rookie inspector, especially when other guests get nosy and start asking too many questions.”      Akane hesitated for a moment. “How did I fare?”      “That was the interesting part,” he said. “It seems that while they’d begun to trust you as an inspector, they were less sure about how you would handle politics. My father and Kogami voted in your favor as they always did.”      As they always did. Akane’s eyes drifted to a nearby heather. She’d long known that she held the trust of her original co-workers, and those she hadn’t in the beginning she’d eventually won over. Kogami had been different; she’d always felt he’d been the first in the division to trust her, regardless of the situation. Later, he’d even confessed his confidence in her through the form of a handwritten letter with his departure, and again the night they’d reunited in Shamballa.      Over time, she’d begun to wonder if his faith in her was blind. If he’d known the things she now did, would he still have written that letter? She’d seen him, the way he’d seemed to struggle with himself when she’d spoken with him that night, as if he felt he’d lost sight of something and no longer knew what that something even was. He’d been living in a chaos he’d admitted he didn’t fully understand. Yet when he’d looked at her, his eyes had been the same as they always had. They were the same, familiar blue that hung onto her every word. They were the same that studied her with that curious and amused expression only he could give and that she’d memorized so well.      The same that fully believed she would be right to pull the trigger.       She wondered how her own must look to him.      Wordlessly, she stood up, smoothing the skirt of her dress behind her. She could feel Ginoza watching her as she slipped her still-aching feet back into her shoes and turned. “I should probably be going back,” she told him, managing a small smile. “If you’d like to stay I can come up with an excuse.” He watched her knowingly for a moment, a sad smile briefly crossing his face before he stood and joined her. Together they returned to the crowd, leaving the setting to its peace.
