Diary + dawn!
A/N: Getting this prompt is what made me think to, potentially, have all of Dawn’s story in the form of a diary. This was the first one that came to mind so its a sort of sneak peek for the turning point of the story, I guess.
Dear Diary,
I don’t understand why everyone loves the Avengers so much. Why everyone thinks they’re protecting the city. They’re destroying it. How many times in the last six years have we had some sort of a big action-packed, movie-like scene play out on our streets? How many times have we had to suddenly drop everything and evacuate to the safest places we could find in seconds before some large, green monster came flying through the windows, showering you with shards of glass and, I don’t know, potentially killing someone?
How many times do we have to try and rebuild everything we lost just for it to be broken down again? Okay, I guess Tony freaking Stark has the money to fix everything in short order, but this is our home. It’s not something that you can just rebuild and rebuild and rebuild and hope its the same. People have moved away, businesses have shut down, people have been killed and they don’t care...unless it’s one of ‘their own’.
Try living with what I live with...and having to evacuate all the time, having to constantly change doctors because their offices keep being destroyed, because the damage to surrounding buildings keep shutting down, because the trucks carrying my medicine and other medical supplies are always being fought on or end up being collateral damage in those stupid car chases and things we see on the news.
I see it all from my bed--re: the living room couch, I can only go so far when a flareup happens, mom and dad insisted so that I don’t get too tired.
The Sokovia Accords would be the best thing for us if they signed it. They have to sign it. If not, then, well...what kind of heroes are they?
My parents say the Avengers and everyone associated with them should be put on trial for their crimes. Peter and Ned, two guys from my class, say they’re helping to save the city, like that Spider-Man guy who’s been running around. (If you ask me, Spider-Man doesn’t know what he’s doing; he’s botched things more than he’s helped them. I mean, have you seen the footage from that bank vestibule?)
My parents say its only a matter of time until the world sees what the Avengers are really like; and my parents would never lie to me.
xx Dawn
