Oh man, Egalt and Rontu lost leaders there, and neither might not even know. That's gotta hurt a shit load.. but it also gives story ideas
It's likely Nokt and Rox targeted them first out of sheer spite, with Lupine(Riyu's Matriarch) being another one specifically targeted

So.. like... does Firstbourne choose not to talk or she sort of just... can't? Like, can she choose to talk telepathically or physically?
Also, I'm gonna bet Egalt and Rontu were around to at least bear witness to some aspects of the Oni v Dragon war, considering they're OLD.
Though it makes me curious... how do the two interact with Firstbourne? Do they view her as their grand mother of sorts?
Ugh, Dragons Rising. You make me have so many questions for the All Mother.

Okay, so I lied. Headcanons for all the Ninjas with Dragons living in the Monastery.
I decided to throw in a redeemed Morro, too, because like.. think about it. Wojira duo plus a Lightning Dragon.
Send help. I love the Dragons Rising Dragons.
Tumblr media
While Jiro and Nya do go for flights around the mountains as stated in previous post, one of the more "weird" things they do together is sit outside in the courtyard when its raining and windy, Morro often joins them despite having passed on his Elemental Power to Euphrasia.
Jiro often uses his wings to provide cover for the ex-Elemental Master of Wind, while Nya prefers to sit away from the cover where she can feel the downpour. Jiro simply likes the thunder and lightning that boom, it's comforting.
And it's also when the Lightning Dragon is at his most alert. Whenever Nya or Morro become despondent, he nudges them closer so they can feel his warmth to ground them back. It's not something they like, but it becomes unbearable to ignore the call of the Elements. Even with Vengestone braces.
Riyu sometimes sits with them. He and Jiro talk to each other about their lives in the mountains before The Merge. Vigor(The Adult Mountain Dragon) also does sit with them occasionally. They're more of a sit in the cave and watch though.
Wyldfyre, Kai, Torchspark(Fire Dragon from Imperium), and Heatwave love sun-bathing in the summer. Wyldfyre talked Kai into it, and the big oaf won't admit he likes it. Sometimes, he brings melons for the Dragons and sandwiches for him and Wyldfyre.
The four of them also enjoy fireworks, too, it scratches something in their brains, you know? (They also love firecrackers, but keep them away from Wyldfyre as she often tries launching them into the air before igniting them).
Lounging around in hotsprings is also a very nice time between the four of them after a hard days work. Wyldfyre usually ends up falling asleep, so she as to stay on Heatwaves back.
Despite being both Ice Elementals, Glacier and Zane prefer staying inside! Pixal was the one who usually dragged Zane out of the house during winters, and without her, he is far, far more hesitant to go out without any of the fire Elementals.
While they stay inside, Zane often simply retells Glacier stories of him and Shard, who the Ice Dragon recognizes and, in turn, tells stories about her own realm, being the Never Ream(Where she and Jiro come from, actually) Her own parents had known the sires to the guardian of the Shurikens of Ice.
Rockside and Cole often have loads of fun creating rock towers or buildings together, Geo often comes in, too, to make sure their projects don't break. One of their favourite creations is actually a small rock castle made for Fritz and Spitz.
As the name goes, Rockslide has fun going down hills. He loves mudslides and avalanches, often joined up by Sora, Wyldfyre, Riyu, and Arin alongside Kai(adrenaline junkies, the lot of them Though Nya is no better alongside Lloyd).
Riyu and Zanth enjoy playing tag, and they often drag Sora and Arin into the mix alongside the Fritz and Spitz. (Zanth and Riyu have to be careful, though, because Heatwave WILL chew them out for playing too rough).

Okay but this screenshot goes kinda fuckin' hard?? I wonder if Heatwaves "frills" also act as a defense so that Wyldfyre doesn't get shot at while the two titans duke it out

The Dragon redesigns I've done thus far for the First Realm - I am missing two, though I'm excited for them. Right now, Earth and Ice are probably my favourites with Wind coming in third(Tap the image for better quality). Which one do you like?

I'm a bit early- but screw it we ball. Morro's Dragon from Season Five! I had a ton of fun with this one when it came to designing them. Generally, I wanted them to look/feel like how I envision Wind Dragons in my headcanon.
Background is concept art for Haunted Hill - found on the Ninjago Wiki.
Oh also, fun fact from the wiki:

Group names for Dragons
A group of Lightning Dragons = a thunder
A group of Ice Dragons = a blizzard
A group of Fire Dragons = an eruption
A group of Earth Dragons = a crash
In regards to ones like the Mountain Dragons, e.g, Riyu, Vigor, Fir, and Lupine(Mountain Matriarch), a flock works.. granted a herd of Dragons can too I guess?
So that could apply to Firstbournes flock too, though it depends on who you ask. Before Iron Baron's death it'd probably be smth like, Firstbourne's tyranny and then after jts Firstbourne's flock.

Imagine if Harumi all this time later after Crystallized sort of just.. comes to realize that she made a mistake in doing what she did. Everything that built up to the Sons of Garmadon and then her death.
She got her best friend(Echo Zane) killed at the hands of Garmadon because she failed him - and that's why she made Mr.F. to give her company in the corridors of the temple and remind her of failing her only real remaining family - even if she didn't realize it and even took him for granted.
Imagine as she's sitting in her cell at Kryptarium, that she feels bad for what she did to Hutchin's. She comes to regret what she did, but she has to live the consequences because that's what she committed to and has to live with the blood on her hands. Her peoples blood. Lives she cut short just like the Ninja, albeit she summoned a psychopath whereas they were just teenagers trying to do damage control.
Man. How I wish Harumi was tragic in Crystallized.

Yeah, no, I was not expecting to be blindsided by Wyldfyre sounding like she was going to break down numerous times within those recordings out of pure frustration. The screams just added to it, too, because that's the only way she knows how to let out her frustration.
Violence and destruction via flames.
And compared to everyone else in the Monastery, who use their words to convey they're upset, Wyldfyre doesn't know HOW to do that entirely yet.
Wyldfyre was talking physically, like Nya and Kai, who, when upset, talk/talked physically just like her. (Albeit Nya and Kai have gotten better at using words as the seasons progressed. See how happy and more light Kai is after Hands of Time, or how Nya communicates more as the seasons progress)
It probably isn't entirely the case, or it can be - but Dragons talk physically besides their roars. They flare their wings and lash tails, scratch the ground, and stomp their feet.
However, they most likely fire Elemental breaths in frustration.
Something only Wyldfyre can do without entirely hurting herself. She has to roar, snarl, and use her flames to convey that she's upset.
Something that only Nya and Kai would understand. Note how Wyldfyre doesn't mention Nya much, only when she comes to realize after her fury does she say Nya misses him a lot.
I think it's because like.. Nya's gotten ..quiet, and while she has bouts of anger that can end in physical bouts of rage(her against the training pole in Seabound or her storming off in Possession) she either keeps to herself or talks with Lloyd or Cole.
While she met Lloyd first, Lloyd uses words to convey what he means more than action. Wyldfyre isn't used to this, so she continued to lash out, and only when he SHOWED her that he was an ally she began to trust him.
Kai was the one to bridge the gap. Instead of trying to talk with her, he showed her motion, her way of talking. Albeit she was stressed over Heatwave, she ended up following Kai's teachings.
Even in Imperium, when they went back to challenge Beatrix- when they were speaking around, he made it more action orientated because that's her language.
Even the two teens her age don't understand. Sora and Arin, which makes it even more unfortunate.
When Kai was taken away... she lost the only humanoid to speak how she does, and as evident in the Wyldfyre shorts, she was extremely disoriented without him to the point that it messed up her sense of place with Dragons as she was forcibly shoved back into the world she was comfortable with.
Maybe I've got my understanding wrong here, but Wyldfyre is very much becoming a comfort character.
Shdudhdhdh sorry for the rant session

I feel like Motion is more careful than people realize, despite the usual thing of "Oh! Fire is impulsive and brash like Kai and Wyldfyre!" I think she's a little more thoughtful than that.
Flames can become a rampaging forest fire, but they can also be carefully welcoming campfires given the correct handling.
Like, sure, she obviously took the risk of trusting the Ninja quickly.. but it was desperate times. And pardon the pun, had a source as to whether or not she could. Energy was sticking up for Lloyd the entire time while the other three remained silent, Strength brushed Lloyd off, and Life sounded concerned.
Though, that does make me think of why the other two didn't contact the Ninja in part two - here's my theories, maybe?
Life was probably grieving for the fallen Arc Dragons, so that's maaaaybe why they didn't appear? They value all forms of life, even the ones who treat the others poorly. (I.e Ras, Kalmaar, and Pythor to name a few). So that left them out- plus she has to watch everything else.
Energy, I bet, is extremely wary of appearing before mortals. This could be because he had given a Source Icon that somebody has broken in an act of betrayal or another reason. I also bet he's probably still recovering from his time captured. Who knows how draining it must've been?
I'm also under the impression it felt like it was up to Motion to ask for help, seeing as the others either wouldn't do anything nor couldn't.

Ngl, every so often, I think on how Lisbeth(what I call Jay's birthmother- I see Libber/Liber as a nickname). And what she could've offered to the narrative for Jay and Wu. -its like 1:12 AM send help.
Like, imagine Jay met her in Prime Empire - say like.. she's trapped all alone, and he has no idea who she is. Not even a vague memory of her voice. All he who he knows to be his parents are Ed and Edna Walker.
So imagine her like, seeing her baby - her little Wren(reference to Jay's original names), essentially all grown up into an adult. He has the perfect mix of her and Cliff's physical features- but his eyes are different. Jay's eyes are neither hers or Cliff's.
Worst of all, she's a stranger to him. But the most interesting part of that me thinks - would be that she doesn't introduce herself as his birthmother. Instead, she introduces herself as Lisbeth, a stranger. Because she's missed too much, and even though she desperately wants to get to know him, she knows he'd be better off without her.
She knows what it's like for people to get in between family. She had to do that a lot in the Serpentine Wars. Those scars never quite faded right, nor did these wounds heal properly. So she's just like, holding back tears n stuff because not only is she finally going to be free- time had taken something from her again. (I HC she was an orphan prior to the Serpentine Wars).
She's got mixed feelings on Cliff all these years later. She visits the mansion and doesn't quite know how to react. Knowing that he's dead and she's.. still alive. A part of her laughs in light-hearted exasperation at his "man" cave, and another simply sighs in annoyance.
It's a harsh blow she's dealt, really. When she finds out what she missed the outside of Jay.
Going around and looking for friends instinctively then remembering that they're no longer.. there. Lilly was a good friend of hers, and she hates that she couldn't really offer Lou any support as she'd disappeared early on into when he and Lilly had begun dating.
The previous Master of Ice had never told them his name, but he had been pleasant.
Wu, Ray, and Maya greet her with teary eyes and shaky smiles- because they have another friend back. One who understood the sacrifices that had to be made during the Serpentine Wars. They talk, talk for hours on end like they were younger, bantering and lightly teasing- but its different now.
Libber can't understand half the inside jokes they make about the Ninja, and she feels a sense of loss when that happens- a sense of loss that she was ripped away from friends and family.
Yeah idk, late night thoughts

So because tumblr always inspires me, I went back and looked - I forgot to repost The Crossroads headcanons from my old account - I think? Plus some additions.
When The Crossroads was new, people were still getting used to living in a community that was so mixed. It took about a year.. two or three where it started to become more like the present day Crossroads.
The Serpentine were a major factor in the construction of The Crossroads; the bridge they built was actually done by Fangpyre and Constrictai. Not to mention they, besides, the Merlopians and any surviving people of Ninjago City were the first to be there.
The Geckles, Munce, and any Shintarins that found their way there were the next peoples to come, followed by Chima's tribes save for the Eagles and Ravens who are missing alongside the Bears.
There are Oni living at The Crossroads, though they prefer to live in the Ruins of Ninjago City. They do visit for The Crossroads Carnival, though! Or other seasonal events.
Formlings are actually a semi-recent addition to The Crossroads! They came during years two and three before the present day.
Most of the Serpentine don't follow a king anymore, though some do live under Skales' rule for the assurance and security of a decent leader. Skales actually does run a couple of businesses in The Crossroads. Mainly entertainment locations such as dance classes, gyms, and yoga.
Bytor and Fangtom do share joint leadership of the largest construction company in The Crossroads(most of the buildings are from them). Though they're always looking to hire new hands, it's actually why the buildings are much more mixed now!
Acidicus runs a library somewhere in The Crossroads, though he does dabble inside businesses in stores that sell hunting equipment. He's also one of the few who know how to forge Vengestone equipment. Most notably, knives. (Skylor owns one)
Skylor gave food away to help the poor and in need- when the The Crossroads had gotten more developed she began to charge relatively fair prices for deliveries(Arin was one of her volunteer workers and she refused not paying them back at least a little bit. They called it volunteering, but it was more of a job.. shhh. )
Skylor actually likes working with her staff/any volunteers in the kitchens instead of doing paperwork. She often walked around to help package, cook, and make sure that everyone was safe within the restaurants that managed to survive The Merge Storm.
Instead of Nya, she helped Sora gain her trust in adults and people in general. This was when Sora had first started living with Arin. Something had drawn the Master of Amber to the kid. Maybe it was similar to how they were raised, but Sora very much looks up to Skylor and Skylor in turn looks up to Sora.
She's one of the people that left portraits of the Ninja for the Memorial tent during the Crossroads Carnival and Spirit Festival.
She rarely goes there.
She actually still has little bits of Kai's firepower before he disappeared in The Merge, and misses him a lot more than she wants to admit to herself. (Sora tries to get her to open up).
Skylor and a couple of other people helped Sora make her armoured prosthetic, going into the junkyard and getting the parts with her.

AU Wyldfyre headcanons featuring some Sora and Arin.
Okay, so uh.. yeah, Sora definitely gave Wyldfyre a mechanical tail she can use(for the better or worse of everyone in the Monastery).
It probably most likely looks like Heatwave's tail with that curved spike at the end, which she can use to grab on to things for extra support/balance.
It's a way for her to show she's actually happy this time around, too, instead of just facial expression and the way her hands curl. You can see her lash it or lightly sway it depending on her mood.
Combat wise, she definitely uses it as a bludgeoning impliment, I'm still debating if she'd use a battle axe or get something akin to claws or brass knuckles that can channel her flames.
Sometimes, she uses it to prank people or not, really depending on her mood.
After she got her tail, she went to Egalt and Rontu for help with learning how to get used to it. (First week or so was mostly little tips and tricks from the Dragons around the cave, of which Rockslide, Jiro, and Zanth were the best help.)
She definitely tried doing something akin to Godzilla's atomic charge when she got it(this may be a slight projection, but it fits, imo). Then, she found out that the tail couldn't emit her fire and then asked Sora for an upgrade.
Sora agreed under the promise that Wyldfyre would be careful with it, and Wyldfyre being Wyldfyre said yes without thinking, then had the realization sink in. So she grudgingly kept her promise.
Wyldfyre feels a twinge of jealousy whenever she sees a Formling shift. Mainly the fact that she can't morph into a Dragon herself, which could make her closer to her tribe more than she already is. Though she absolutely adores playing with Formlings, she thinks they're great.
She doesn't visit The Crossroads much. There's a difference between Dragon loud and people loud. She prefers to visit it at night, where to her it feels quieter than in the day. Sora agrees that it looks better at night, though Arin prefers the day.
She considers the Ruins of Ninjago City to be a really cool place with all the overgrowth plants and animals residing within. To her, it feels like a mini-Wyldness and a mix of The Crossroads. Though she somewhat understands why it(unfortunately) needs to go to make space for other people.

Okay, but like.. I kinda wish we delved more into Sora being hesitant to trust adults or people in general? Like sure, the series kinda-sorta does that in part one of season one with her only really talking to Arin about her fears, then promptly chucking it out the window when she opens up to Nya and Geo. Who mind you, she's maybe known either less than.. like a week and / or a month at best? I'm not saying she can't, I just expected her to be more... hesitant despite relating to Geo - who, by all extents and purposes, is a stranger.
With the Tournament of the Sources out, I hope she kinda goes into the supposed thing that she doesn't really trust people. Especially now that Arin's gone, she sort of becomes a recluse- have her learn that lying isn't a good thing, or in fact have her do it more so that she, just like Wyldfyre, learns cause and consequences.
