I DID IT! I made nettle fiber! 🌿✨
After days of foraging, soaking, and lots of patience, I finally managed to create my own nettle fiber! It's so soft—But it has a weird smell it's not bad but just different from what I had expected?
Next up: spinning it into some yearn!

100% silk thread hand spun by my talented wife!👌🏼 So crazy to think how much of our life comes out of something as simple as the book. As a maker I'm obsessed about the material I use and am often not satisfied with what is available to us nowadays. I feel it has to do with the fact that so much of what we consume is commercially made, and therefore so much that makes an end product special is lost. A few years ago we were trying to source a specific kind of thread I needed for my historical bindings and couldn't find it anywhere! I made a comment to my wife, out of frustration mostly, "we should just spin our own thread." That comment got my wife thinking about the yarn she uses for her crochet projects and how she isn't quite satisfied with it, and the research about different kinds of fiber began. Two years ago my wife said, "Let's get Angora rabbits!" Six months later she said, "I'm going to be a distributor of raw fiber so I can get my hands on several different varieties." Six months after that; "Lets get sheep: They're being delivered on Friday!" Well, you've all shared in the process with us. Books are an amazing thing; fill your homes with them, read them often, collect the old ones: I think your life will be better for it, I know ours has.✌🏼 #handspun #silk #embroidery #eidolonhouse #fiberart #fiberjourney
