What's the deal with Ishgard?!

This is a serious question. Everyone seems to be OBSESSED with Ishgard and constantly hyped on it and I just don't get what's so cool about it.

Admittedly, I'm pretty far behind on the lore and I'm not trying to talk shit, but the sheer amount of people I've seen who romanticize it is intriguing to me. So far, it just seems like fairly typical European medieval fantasy city that has all the learnings and book smarts and some Holy Orders thrown in.

My first piece of 2025, and its something I've been meaning to make for such a long time too. Back when I lost my FFXIV sprout at the end of Shadowbringers I felt really emotional and wanted to make a piece about it, and here it is after all this time. Even signed it in Eorzean <3

I've not been playing ffxiv for a crazy long time. I'm not like a super veteran that's been around for 10 years or anything like that. But I have been around for almost a year and have become very familiar with a lot of aspects of the game. (Still haven't finished MSQ yet though, don't judge me)

With that being said, I heard dynamis is very much filled to the brim with sprouts and I absolutely thrive with helping people. One of my favorite things is to show people how to do things and help them when they're struggling.

Taking all that into consideration, i do also like being able to chill and do casual roulettes without worrying about it taking an hour. Do you think it's worth transferring from Primal (Lamia) to the Dynamis DC? How badly do you think it'll affect my queue times? Would it be feasible to start up a new FC there?

All opinions and insight is welcome on this topic, thanks! :)

FFXIV tumblr I feel very stupid but I have a question

1. Wtf is the hydaelyn button

2. How do I get rid of it

3. How do I click on it?

It used to be in the middle of my screen, then I accidentally moved it into the corner whilst trying to click it. Now it won't let me click on it at all. It is freakish levels of irritating in the corner of all my screenshots. I have googled every possible combination of what I think it might be called and it just keeps giving me stuff that isnt it. I haven't seen anybody else with this on their screen.

Update: figured out what it is!! After uninstalling my game it reset the position of where the icon was so I could click on it. It's FF Logs. I don't remember installing it but I guess I'm glad I have an answer. More annoyed that I had to spend 3 hours redownloading the game but it also conveniently got rid of GShade so that's a win!

okay, okay! so!

for those that don't know me, I'm newer to FFXIV (only started playing less than two years ago) and I'm making my way through Endwalker.

(mild early Endwalker spoilers ahead)

OKAY

I do have to say, I now understand why everyone calls Endwalker the best FFXIV expac in terms of story.

It clicked for me during the duty where Fandaniel body swaps your WOL with an Imperial and Zinos takes it over to try and fake out your friends.

The way that duty is structured is unlike anything you've experienced as a player so far. The concept of you are now just a regular guy with no special powers or abilities and now have to fight your way through a war zone while also trying to be stealthy to make it to your friends in time before the crazy man who took over your body does while finding supplies, and helping regular citizens against the tempered ones? So fucking good.

It really broke up the expectation of what a duty was up until this point. There was just something about being essentially powerless, being limited by a "regular" body, the pressure and stakes of making it to your friends before Zenos did which is amplified by the time limit. This is the first duty in a while that had me stressed but in a good way. Stressed in the way that a good challenge in a video game gives you while still being fun.

It was so. much. fun.

The way they're weaving the plot lines and connecting dots from waaaaay back to the start of the game is just really fucking good story telling.

I made it passed the Zodiark trial and finding out that you were manipulated into killing Zodiark which was the plan a along to bring about the Final Days and the Hydaelyn was basically distorting the truth and knew Zodiark was an important part to holding the order of nature together and without him around, the death of The Source was inevitable so she made a whole contingency plan to build a fucking space ship/moon to ferry the population of the star Noah's Arch style to a new star is just....the weaving. the plot lines. the storyyyyyy.

I just love this game and decided to word vomit my thoughts so far. I still have a loooooot to go in terms of story so I will keep updating with new thoughts and revelations as they alpear!

my sprout that I'll be taking through the story (for my first time) I skipped the story with my main gurl, but that was to "catch up" to play with the pals that invited me in. I genuinely don't think I would have played the game otherwise. I wasn't good at playing games on my own when I started. I watched all kinds of videos about the story, then ended up watching hours and hours of cut scenes just so I'd kind of know what was going on in Endwalker. I'm excited to amend all of that, and to stream the whole thing. Will likely dig in after Dawntrail. Until then. ART.
