Casio's August Artist Spotlight: ThunderSOUL Orchestra

Funk Band is Currently Promoting Their New Album, "528-0728"

This August, Casio America, Inc., a leading innovator of electronic musical instruments, is delighted to highlight the soulful 14 piece multi-instrument R&B/Funk Band, ThunderSOUL Orchestra, as part of its Artist Program. Casio's Artist Program supports aspiring and established musicians by providing them with the most innovative tools and technology to compose and perform their music, whether they are in the recording studio, on the stage performing or traveling on tour.

ThunderSOUL Orchestra, an offshoot of alumni from the Kashmere Stage Band, is one of five musical ensembles continuing the legacy of Mr. Conrad O. Johnson, Sr. (Prof), who helped transform the Kashmere Stage Band from Kashmere High School in Houston, Texas into a funk powerhouse. Members of ThunderSOUL Orchestra, include Reginald Nelson (Nello), Craig Baldwin (Tino Ffunk), Reginald Rollins (Rollo), Donald Compton (Donny Love), Gerald Cahoun (Gino), Howard Ware, Scott Orphey, Gerry Demars, Chad Welling, Randall Cook, Quincy Cole, Antaun Stewart (Baby Boy), Daryl Thomas (Deacon) and Darrel Crooks. This R&B and funk group uses instruments and tools, including Casio's Privia PX-5S, to fulfill their primary goal of educating teachers, students, and parents around the world on the importance of music training through various workshops.

"Casio's Privia PX-5S is ideal when we are traveling for our student workshops and gigs because it is not only extremely light and portable but it also looks great on stage," said Craig Baldwin, Vocalist, Keyboardist and Artistic Director for ThunderSOUL. "The PX-5S has done tremendous things for our group sound-wise, and the passion that comes from this keyboard is amazing. Its 88 keys snap back at your fingertips and simulate the sound and feel of a traditional piano."

ThunderSOUL Orchestra is currently promoting their recently-released album, "528-0728," which is a 10-song tribute to Mr. Conrad O. Johnson, Sr. (Prof). The band will be performing this album for the first time on September 21, 2017 at the Crescent Moon in Houston, Texas and a global tour is planned for 2018. Additionally, the band continues to show screenings of their film Thunder Soul, which was executively produced by Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx and highlights the legacy of Prof and the Kashmere Stage Band.
