Hi. I'm excited to read Far From a Madding Crowd with the hunger games book club.
I went to download the book from the Guttenburg project and found that there are 2 editions. The first edition is illustrated, and the second edition is "extensively revised by Thomas Hardy."
Which edition are we reading?
Hmmm... this is a good question! I'm not sure what differences there are, or if it matters too much if we aren't all reading the exact same version.
I'm going to call in people who I believe have read this before and use tags Hardy fans might find to help us sort it out. I've been googling the answer, but opinions I've found vary. Some say the revisions "clean up" the previous editions, others that it is "censoring". I'm also not sure if one edition is more common in print.
@mollywog @sheet-metal-memories I know you have read FFtMC. Any insight? Also anyone else who has read it, please chime in!
