So I finished season 3 a few days ago, and I felt it did do a good job on following up season 2. Thematically, and through telling the story through Fina.

Spoilers

Fina is Kind. She chooses to be kind, and as much as people keep telling her to stop being a naive idealist, ultimately it's her ideals that get through to them, and give her strength to change people's minds and hearts.

Her kindness is a choice. Even when the Dark Crystal is showing her dark moments in her past to break her idealism (or maybe just making up visions to try to break her) she chooses to believe in the best of people. Even when he tells her otherwise.

When confronted with a victim of her negligence, she apologizes. She extends her hand to her opponents. She forgives.

I also like that both Crystals went extremeist.

That she got through to the Dark Crystal and in its last moments it brought back the light it had destroyed.

That Riona, even after all the emotional pain both Crystals put him through, offered a way to bring dark Crystal back for light Crystal, with what he had of dark Crystal within him.

He lost his whole family to this conflict, and he still did what only he could do to bring a ballance back.

The crystals were a contrast to Vlad, and so suited Finas story. And So did the election B plot, where Raegen becomes the immortal president.

Is it all perfect? No. It's a mobile game, full of steching the story out between cutsceens and battles, dumb character gimmicks (glad they dropped Rains flirt characteristic mostly), and ladies wearing both functional armor, and stupid bikini armor. (I'm judging you hard for how your daughter dresses Cid),

And Finas kind of a deity in universe, so it's not a huge surprise when things happen like her traveling through time, splitting her personality into two people, or having her girlfriend come back from the dead.

(Sorry for the poor quality, it came by faster then I thought)

I did like it a lot. Maybe it helped to see it in sucession, or seeing the characters in other events before meeting them here, or maybe I'm just in a headspace to like it.

Either way, I'm glad I saw it before the game ended.
