How many old Kingdom Hearts ships do you think skyrocketed in popularity around those times due to Parle Productions and Demyx Time?
because i'm rewatching old Demyx Time episodes and realizing that I probably got into ships like marvex from the show.

[Fic] The Lightning Likewise Loves Thee [1/1]
Rating: G Characters/Pairings: Astarion/Tav Fandom: Baldur's Gate 3 Word Count: 6k Summary: Astarion took a quick, irritated step forward. “My love, would you kindly shut up? I dont have marriage proposed to me every day. I’d like to seriously consider it.”
He’d like to—oh.
Oh.
Tav took a stunned, shaky breath. “Well, think out loud then. I don’t propose it very often myself.”
-
Set about three months post-game.
Gradually, over the course of several minutes, Tav became aware of the fact that she was happy.
Only a handful of times in her memory had she recognized the contentment as it happened. Mostly the realization had come only with idle retrospection—tendays, months, years later—and with a bitter nostalgia that it had all slipped by so easily, without her noticing.
Not this time, though. This time, with Astarion’s cool arms twined around her shoulders, her head tucked firmly against his chest, and their limbs tangled up in both luxurious satin sheets and afterglow, Tav was happy and she knew it.
Gods. Lliira herself would struggle to match this joy, surely. Tav trailed her fingers idly up Astarion’s arm, then cupped his cheek as she kissed the underside of his chin. He gave a drowsy, questioning hum, tightened his arms around her, and buried his nose in her hair with a frank fondness that nearly finished her off altogether.
Tav grappled with her own instinct to succumb, to lay her head back down against his chest and let his shallow, steady breathing carry her off to sleep. The question won, but barely. “Astarion?”
“Hmm?”
Even his voice was relaxed. She felt like she’d chucked a rock at a window to watch it shatter.

Hiii! I'm wondering what was the reason you ship tobecky? What moment did you feel that "oh yeah this is my otp!
Hello! Thank you for the ask!! (^.^)
Oh boy, okay then, strap yourselves. Call me Captain Tangent because I'm going to take too long getting to the point, but yippee!!
Alright, first is the context before the context. I watched Wordgirl during the original shorts that were between Maya and Miguel since I was a PBS kid (cable was inconsistent). During that time, I watched it up until season 4, when I dropped off in favor of other stuff. From that time, I do remember that I wasn't a Tobey x Wordgirl(Becky) fan. Instead, Tobey's crush on Wordgirl flew over my small head, and I was a Scoops and Becky truther because apparently, I recognized Becky's crush on Scoops more. (I didn't know what shipping was exactly. All I knew was that I liked to pair characters up in my head or be invested in romantic tension. EXs: Robin and Starfire in OG Teen Titans, Tiana and Naveen, ...Pleakley and Jumba...)
When about season 4 started, I didn't try to see what the show was up to until after the Miss Power special, where I curiously searched up Wordgirl on the family computer to see what happened. There then I found SuperstarWordgirl's art and amvs about Tobecky. Remember, I forgot about Tobey's crush, so I was just confused about why people wanted to see them smoochy kiss (I was like: "What?? Doesn't he dislike her? And she has the other boy??")
I was puzzled and embarrassed seeing shipping amvs, so I left it alone, only searching it up a bit on ff.net because I used it for mlp fics, and yup still was confused so I didn't hear of Wordgirl by then.
--Then, my mind broke in 2016. With animated movies like Zootopia and Finding Dory, I started to develop fixations beyond MLP and lurk into fandoms where I discovered Tumblr. (I was in the mlp fandom before, but I wasn't overtly active or multifandom yet, and was still a kid, so I was in very much danger and scarred for life to the point of my development but that's for another day--). Later that year, with the release of Sing, I really kicked into gears of wanting to make stuff/make friends with similar interests. Yada Yada, eventually over a year with being on Tumblr, I started to see posts about childhood nostalgia, and the PBS ones caught my eyes. Wordgirl was a big one, and superhero stories were getting interesting for me again, so I nodded and respected it. BUT THEN I SAW A POST SAYING THAT there was a canonical gay couple in Wordgirl, and I ran straight to the tag--look I was invested highly into gay shit so once I heard about it...in a PBS show? In my childhood show? I was like, OKAY, LET'S HEAR IT OUT.
And yes indeed, to whom that post was referring to...was TJ and Johnson... (What I didn't know, that was just when Liz confirmed stuff on tumblr for the last season like two years ago), BUT REGARDLESS, I GOT INVESTED BECAUSE GAY PPL REAL!! So yes, guys. You technically have Tjohnson to thank for getting me into the fandom and, yes, eventually to ship Tobecky.
Getting into the Wordgirl tag, I was very excited and comforted by all the art and tight-knit unity the fandom had. Headcanons, fan arts, and crossovers with stuff like other PBS shows or Captain Underpants, it really put me in a place of whimsy at the time. (remembered I was in places like the brony fandom, so by comparison, i was safe) and I was in the starting phases of high school too, so yep, seeing nostalgic wonderful art did my brain good. My fixation of animated movies waned, and I dipped deeply into Wordgirl, other cartoons, and video games. Because I was lurking in the Wordgirl tag, it wouldn't take long to see Tobecky again, along with other ships. Then it finally dawned on me after seeing clips posted that Tobey definitely had a crush on Wordgirl. And well...I'm a sucker for anything romance and especially since I missed that detail before so I went on YouTube for more clips. This was before the resurgences of ppl posting Wordgirl stuff, so I then went to deviantart for answers and got obsessed with this one artist on their Tobecky art. Like I didn't ship it yet, but I liked it. Eventually, after a few weeks on the Wordgirl tag, I kicked the bucket and watched the full show (I actually watched it through a tumblr masterpost link AHH THE MEMORIES) but regardless, after watching everything, yup....it became a hyper fixation. But what about Tobecky? So, I mentioned before that it wasn't until re-watching the four seasons again and seeing for the first time the other seasons that started to ship tobecky. Specifically, Have You Seen The Remote. I was already a bit intrigued since the first episode (because I like for one-sided infatuation relationships), but the whole thing with Tobey trying to say how much he and Wordgirl could get along and how they're similar in some ways...he was trying to convince her on their potential chemistry; but all he did was convince me lmao.
I liked their dynamic that wasn't just romantic, too, and i stewed on it for a bit and reached the conclusion like I did with Tjohnson. That yes....shipping time. I made it to the last Tobey episode, and it just confirmed deeply that out of any other woodview school character that I liked her best with Tobey (the note dude, the note was my roman empire, similar to the scene of TJ getting bashful over Johnson complementing him in what would Wordgirl do). I was critical of the ship itself, especially after catching up with it's fandom lore and it did kinda made feel a tad guilty, but at this point I've made peace that I can like this ship but also talk shit because of my love for it (you can be analytic guys it ain't gonna kill you, but also be respectful and don't bully others).
Becky is my favorite character, and Tobey is my favorite character to analyze, so match made in haven, I suppose. Plus, i liked my spin on them in a timeskip setting, and AHH-- (*Future AU happens*). The fics only made it worse by how Tobecky began to infest my brain. Shout out to Something Hidden. Yeah, also, as I mentioned, after finishing up Wordgirl, that's when I really started to break out of my shell in the fandom and express my ideas and care for Tjohnson and Tobecky. I have never been sane since...

Tumblr media
Every month we will pose a question and collate responses as a fun and informal little exercise in getting to know each other and spark discussion.
For Hetalia's 18th anniversary, we asked our writers:
“How did you first get into Hetalia?”
Beetroot / @council-of-beetroot: People had recommended it to me prior since I'm a geography nerd but I heard it was offensive. At one point I read a fanfic about Hetalia Lithuania and that piqued my interest. But then like six months, around March of 2022, later I recalled my sister talking about a funny scene from Hetalia. So I decided to look up Hetalia out of context on YouTube. I decided nothing could be more offensive than I was at 13 so I watched that and then knew I had to watch the show. I watched the show in a weekend. It was particularly funny to watch at the time because my best friends that year in highs were foreign exchange students from Germany and Japan. Anyway here I am now.
Angel / @billowingangel: I got into Hetalia around 2015 by reading x Reader fanfiction and I stumbled upon a Germany x Reader on DeviantArt and then I went down a rabbit hole of the Hetalia countries x readers. The x reader fanfiction comforted me immensely as I was struggling greatly at the time and that was probably the worst time of my life. Then I found other Hetalia fanfiction and fanart, and I then watched some of the episodes on YouTube. Since then Hetalia has been something of great comfort and nostalgia to me. Hetalia honestly means so much to me and there's been so many lovely people in this fandom that I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with 💗
Didi / @teaedon: Searched my country on deviantart, found Hetalia OCs comics. Watched the anime when it had just 1 or 2 seasons out (both 2009), and began to keep up with blog and page translations on Livejournal (did I understand English at the time? Barely lmao). Then jumped from Livejournal to Tumblr but because a funny-unrelated-to-Heta blog, but soon more than later I started following Hetalia blogs... Made my sideblog in 2015; I should have done that sooner, it's around that time that my actual main fandom was another for a while. Even with the manga hiatus ending in 2021 (also new anime season), I only fully returned in 2022. No fics until... 2023, omg (the deleted ff.net one from when I was in school doesn't count).
Tama / @delgumofics: Back in 2012 my sister suggested I check it out, said it was funny. I watched ep1 subbed and by the end I had a glassy look in my eyes, shut it off, and promptly forgot about it. Later on it was on Netflix so I gave the dub a shot and died laughing. I binged the whole original run in a couple days then started looking at fics.
Eru / @eruverse: I first learned of Hetalia around well 10 years ago, but couldn’t get properly into it. I alrd liked Vanya but that was that [...] I properly got into Hetalia after they released Indonesia, so it was just around 2021. Was immediately thrown into Netherlands/Indonesia, the beloved ship of Indonesian fandom, creating fanarts for them and brainrotting with other Indonesian fans. Good times! Ah, NLID… other Indonesia ships would simply not compare to the weight of history, emotional baggage, and all kinds of other baggage of this one ship. You should check it out, and being Indonesian I have the front seat for accessing juicy historical materials. Nobody in the fandom knows the special side of Netherlands that Indonesians do.
@folightening: Bought and watched the first season a long time ago, I think it was out of curiosity. I remember people talking about it at school and I recognized the name at the store so I got the first season to check out. Didn't do anything more with it until ~2 years ago I think? Watched it again on a whim, bought the series in a collection set, found where I could read it, got my writer's block shattered, and the rest is history.
Yukihitomi / @arthurhonda: This is actually a funny story. So it was back in 2011, and my friend recommended it to me because I like history and was a history kid. It also had nekotalia, and I love cats. Combine the two, and it was a good recomendation. Ironically, she said "don't get into the fandom." Clearly, I didn't listen.
Ash / Lutz: A friend told me the anime was really funny so we watched a few episodes of it when we were in high school. I was hooked and almost immediately started googling amecan fanart lmao
Prush / @proosh: I can't remember exactly but I think my discovery of it was connected to the old DeviantArt series Scandinavia and the World? But it was around 2011, I'm pretty sure, and I got into it via the dubbed parts uploaded to Youtube. It activated me like a sleeper agent, having already had an early interest in history, and I've been trapped in here ever since.
Lacy: I randomly found the series while I was reading some news. (Think it was back in 2013-14). Sort of got very obsessed with it and was joining groups left and right, bought fktons of merch for a lot of characters. (i just love them all crazy at that point of time) One of the groups i was in decided to hold some event and thats where i wrote my first fic. Then theres so much stupid drama i just withdrew eventually and kept to myself with just one ship. (At this point there was this one person who was writing with me). Then came the time when she left as well, so I did question at that point if i still want to stay in this fandom alone (and i did, because i just want to finish up my wips 🫠).
Mossman / @one-more-mossman: I don't remember exactly how I did get into Hetalia , but I checked out the date of my first Hetalia pfp and it's December of 2012. I remember being super into Ivan and putting him on all my pfps and telling my friends about him and being all mushy and stupid. I had pretty limited access to the internet at that time, and didn't speak any English, so I wasn't a part of the Hetalia fandom - neither the English speaking nor Russian. So I didn't know he was an unstoppable rape truck y'know. I was drawing him and just silently vibing with him. I got into the actual fandom about three years ago - was a lurker first, not interacting aside from leaving kudos/comments, then got into fic writing (for English speaking fandom, I thought it was more lively than the Russian one). Found wonderful people here. Happy to be here, glad to have people sharing my interests. (Notice there is not a single mention of liking history. I don't like it. I can't remember a single fact.)
WhiteWings / @smuttyandabsurd: Gosh everyone started so much later than me... Anyway back in 2007, my sister forwarded a random USUK fanart to me on deviantArt simply because "it's BL and you might like it." I binged the first season of the anime and was tickled enough to keep watching as further seasons came out. I was already casually interested in history - it was my second favourite school subject behind English lit - but after Hetalia? Yeah I was reading the densest modern history nonfictions around, hovering in the military history section of the library among random middle-aged men, and writing rapetruck smutfics with a ~historical~ flavour. Anyway, 17 years later, everything from the way I consume Hetalia and tangentially-related topics to my writing has had a dramatic evolution from my humble weeb-y beginnings, but I'm still in this dang ass fandom and I can't find the exit.
Sicily: I was into countryhumans and I came across it, and was like, pft I'm never going to like hetalia.., and now we are here

whelp, unless things change soon I think that this marks the end of me posting on ff.net. I’d really only been posting there out of nostalgia, but this latest email notification problem is really making even that not feel worth it, since now i really am shouting into the void without any of the notifications on my fics

About Tumblr, My Writing, and Finding Home
This is a personal post unrelated to news about my writings, and as such, is quite possibly dreary and uninteresting. I do apologize. As a courtesy, I've included a Keep Reading.
I spent around a month on Tumblr, from the end of September to the start of October, and I've observed many interesting posts from many people. I've also learned new things, such as what a whump is and other such writblr-exclusive terms.
But in a way, the more I learn, the more I understand the differences between myself and the wider community.
Most of the time, I do not write romance, especially regarding shipping of existing characters. I understand that this is quite an important part of the Tumblr community, what with the "antis" and the "pro-shippers" all running amok. For the record, I still consider myself a pro-shipper; what other writers wish to write is none of my business. It's just something I find little interest in doing.
I am a queer writer, but I feel like my work is not "queer" in the same way as many other very talented queer writers have. This kind of leans into the lack of romance; for my original characters, you'll never know if they're gay or ace or bi or het, simply because it's just not something I ever have them think about.
I find myself lost, unable to find a real home for my original works. Tumblr and Ao3 are suitable places for An Unmaking to live, and I am glad that the folks here seem to enjoy them somewhat. However, long posts don't seem to be in vogue on Tumblr, which makes some sense. This is a blogging site, not a writing site.
My one-shots fit in alright, but I also have short stories that simply don't fit here. Serialization is something I find great difficulty with on Tumblr; it's why I've given up posting An Unmaking here.
Ao3 and FF.net are both fan-fiction-dominated pages. Sure, I could probably post original works on both, but it doesn't feel quite right. It's not a home.
I've looked into other websites, but Wattpad seems unappealing in general, and I've never heard anyone say good things about the site outside of nostalgia.
RoyalRoad makes sense, but the demographics feel strange as well. I am not a LitRPG or Portal Fantasy writer, and the works feel pretty skewed toward a straight male-leaning audience. This isn't criticism; it's simply that I am not straight or male. In the same way that I do not fit in Tumblr's shipping and romance, I do not fit in RoyalRoad's power fantasies.
I'm not someone who chases stats or engagement. I simply want a place where my original works feel at home, where it feels like my work is something that belongs, instead of a strange hanger-off that does not quite fit in with the rest.
For my Secret History readers, an analogy: A creature of Winter and Sky is looking to settle. But the first is a place that is too full of yearning, too dappled for it to truly rest. The next is warm and comforting but also sharp in a way it is not. From place to place, it flits, looking for somewhere to make its home but never truly finding it.
If you've read this far, thank you for indulging in a painfully conspicuous and inexperienced outsider in her ramblings. If you have any suggestions for where my works may roost, please let me know in all the myriad of ways that Tumblr lets you interact with me. Frankly, I've probably missed some. Maybe there's some tag that fits me that I'm unaware of, too.
None of this will affect An Unmaking, not that I've been consistent with its upload schedule. Thank you for reading.
-- Lothli

So I was rereading ßome old famfiction on ff.net and Ao3, among which is your WR week from 2019. And I have to say reading your stuff and other fics I read over the years really gives me nostalgia and somehow gets me motivated to finish my works, which were left hanging out of personal reasons or because my tastes changed and I found what I like now is different from back than. So long story short I just wanted to express my gratitude for all the great stories you posted over the years. And yes I am a hard cor WR fan ^^
Thank YOU for reading my works over the years! And good luck with your own works! May the motivation last long and burn bright. 💕 It really makes me happy to know my works might have been able to spark something in others, whether that be joy or motivation. 🥰

17, 19, and 20 for the writer’s works ask game 💕
Skye my darling, thank you for sending this in 💕
17. Your Favorite Writing Conditions? Answered here.
19. Last Thing You Read?
@imaswellkid Maddie's new Frankie series, Tonight you belong to me ❤️ I actually haven't read fic in a long time, it was nice to have the time to do so!
20. What Got You Into Writing?
King Arthur, the movie! I was in love with Mads Mikkelsen's Tristan 😍 I can't remember how exactly I came across FF.net, but I found King Arthur fanfic on it as a 16-year-old and wanted to do my own writing, and that's how I started writing fanfic. But even as a kid, I used to write, illustrate and bind my own little books!
I deleted my earliest fics because they were really quite bad lol, but I still go back to my FF.net account every now and then just for nostalgia.

Since when do we need an account to read Brumous??
I locked my stories because I keep seeing more and more authors talking about bot comments and AI concerns on AO3. I’ve thought about deleting my stories from ff.net as well because of this issue and as well as ff.net not being the best with responding to concerns from authors but nostalgia is stopping me from doing so. So, for now, they’re still on ff.net. Requesting a AO3 account may not be a bad idea. I know more and more authors are locking their stories.

hihi! i was wondering if you post your fics on here or ao3 or anywhere because all your oc’s look really really interesting! i literally JUST stumbled across your blog so forgive me if i’m missing them or if you haven’t posted them at length, but if they are around i’d love to know where i can find them! :)
hi there, thanks so much for your kind words! please forgive my delay in answering this as i have been neglecting my inbox as of late. i unfortunately don’t post my fics often (writers block sucks), and any that i had have been removed due to someone stealing my work. i really only left one up on fanfiction.net for nostalgia purposes, but it was abruptly abandoned after the prologue lol. nonetheless, i might start posting little blurbs every now and then if more people are interested 👀. nevertheless, i will leave a couple old links below!

This weekend, I went on a nostalgia trip and reread one of my favorite fanfics from back in the day, long before I began writing my own.
We’re talking posted in 2002ish here, before some of you were even BORN.
Then I started reading through the comments and sure enough, posted sometime in July 2006, was my own comment praising the author about how much I loved their story and how much I hoped they’d be able to update the sequels / prequels to it. Unfortunately they haven’t, from the looks of it. I’d have loved to read how those fics ended.
I used my real first name to comment back then since I didn’t have a FF.net account at the time (still don’t btw) so unfortunately that means I’m being intentionally vague about the fic itself, as well as the pairing it was about and the fandom it was from. It was not ATLA, I’ll say that much.
Then it hit me, that was what, 17 years ago last month? Practically half my life ago? Crazy how time flies, how much I’ve changed and grown since then, and how differently I absorbed the story now than when I first read it in my late teen years.
Anyways, I have no idea if that fanfic author is even still around, but I hope they’re doing well 💜💙

✨ Fic Writing Review 2023 ✨
Thanks @sharpbutsoft for the tag.
Basic stats:
Word count: 127,656 (but that includes me finally getting around to moving my old ff.net fics over to ao3 and archiving my tumblr shorts, so it's probably closer to half that) (yes I could do the math, no I don't want to)
16 new fics (plus some ficlets archived from tumblr)
2 series (The Rocky Horror one and A Bliss Like This)
223 comment threads (honestly, I'm happy when people read my fic, and thrilled when they leave kudos, but those comments are really something special)
Top 5 fics by kudos:
Their Wedding Night (cowritten with @sharpbutsoft )
Adventures in Housekeeping
The Opposite of Love
The House Dick
Her Double Life
A Bliss Like This seems to be a well liked series, huh? Four of the top five. If I limit the list to one story per series, the list ends
Eddie (dinner) (the fourth and only explicitly steddie fic in the Rocky Horror series)
Time out of Mind (my time travel au)
In Silence Like to Death
which covers everything new I wrote this year, because, well, two series.
Extremely important fandom highlight:
The Rocky Horror series got fanart drawn by the talented @sharpbutsoft . Go, look at it. Appreciate its beauty and humor. Know that it resulted in me having to explain Stranger Things to my mother (Rocky Horror and the general concept of fanfiction she understands; horror and 80s nostalgia, not so much).
Upcoming projects for 2023:
Well, I've spent the last month working on a massive Stranger Things AU, where fighting a monster together isn't enough to save Steve and Nancy's relationship in season one. It probably won't be completed by the end of the year, but I have finished writing the first part. So I may do a thing I normally avoid and post part one before the whole thing is finished. (It may be the niche-est thing I've ever written, but Steve and Eddie do get to kiss, so I'm positive I'm not the only one who will enjoy it)
There will probably be a couple more short ficlets on tumblr, because 500 word silliness is how I work through writers block
Rules & Tags below the cut!
Rules: Feel free to show whatever stats you have. Only want to show Ao3 stats? Rock on. Want to include some quantitative info instead of stats? Please do this. Want to change how yours is presented? Absolutely do that. Would rather eat glass than do this? Please don’t eat glass but don’t feel like you have to do this either.

God, I dont know if you read fics, but if you do, can you recommend some Vaati fics? Honestly, just any place where I can find some good Vaati content? This rat is sitting in my head rent free
Hoo boy, I haven't read any Vaati fics in a WHILE but ! I do remember loving one specific author called fleetfleets who wrote my favourite fics for the rat when I was a teen. Idk how well they aged but I do remember LOVING these very very much so I think it's worth a try (also those are the only English ones I can remember because most of the fics I read at the time were ones hosted on a small independent french website and it was mostly crack fics lmao)
Here are the fics I actually read from this author, but they also wrote other stuff that I never ended up checking out so don't hesitate to do so (click the link up there to get to their ff.net profile page) :
First one is Rend which is basically Vaati being nerfed and forced to cooperate with Link as they both get sent in another era and have to figure out a way to go back to their own time. It’s a long, epic, entertaining story where Vaati is a prideful asshole (as he should) and Link has to manage him while still being the moral compass of the two. They meet a lot of characters, get thrown into situations that are more or less dangerous, and I remember their dynamic being pretty fun but also the cause of a lot of tasty drama.
***
Then you have two other fics that happen after Rend named The Unresolved and Recollection.
I remember liking The Unresolved, following a Vaati that chose to live alone away from Hyrule… until one day where he finds Link and Zelda’s daughter very far from home and so he has to return to Hyrule and figure out what the hell happened. I think I remember it having a good story overall, but I can’t remember it in details at all.
To be honest, Recollection was too needlessly cruel for me (and I remember reading an author's note agreeing, saying that they don't think it was necessarily a good idea to conclude the story this way) so yeah, do that what you will

Then we have the vaazel duology, which I actually read a couple years ago after remembering that author’s existence and going on a nostalgia trip
First one is When I Return, where a kidnapped Zelda slowly and begrudgingly comes to an understanding with Vaati and vice versa. And then oops feelings. It IS a Stockholm syndrome type of situation but I do think it was handled well, as the gravity of the situation and Zelda’s emotional state play a central role in the narrative.
Overall, I liked the dynamic between the two very much. Basically it’s Vaati having to manage the politics of conquering Hyrule while he hears Zelda, in the background, doing increasingly annoying attempts to escape his palace, and him having a headache about it all. And it’s Zelda trying to escape but also eventually learning about how monster society works and how Vaati is actually not all powerful despite being at the top of the chain of command. And like, obviously, screw him for kidnapping her but also. “Wow never thought I could have any sympathy for that guy.”
Second is Forget-me-nots and violets that tackles the consequences of Vaati and Zelda getting together back in Hyrule. Vaati’s ready to cooperate to have some peace between Hyrule and monsters, but basically everyone around them (understandably) think that Vaati brainwashed Zelda and drama ensues. A good continuation and conclusion to this story
If any Rat Enjoyer reading this wants to drop some recs too, please do! for Anon, but also for me because I kinda want to read Vaati fics now lmao
