Well, no wedding plans are immediately on the horizon, but if any couples were thinking about it, it'd probably be either Fernadette and Graer...

...or Murray and Kizzle.

Fernadette has been thinking of asking Graer, but they're so comfortable the way they are right now that she hasn't felt any urgency to do so.

Murray wants to pop the question to Kizzle, but... he's a bit nervous. Don't worry, Lil' Bit has been working on him to build up his confidence, and someday he'll get there! =)

Fernadette loves the natural world very much, and that includes sweet little Hazel here. If you're feeling a little stressed out today, she recommends pausing for a moment and looking at Hazel's beady eyes, wispy fluff, and adorable face. Feeling better yet? Fernadette hopes you are. 💚

Fernadette: "Oh my goodness! I have a fan! Hello!" *waves*

Fernadette: "So you like ferns, huh? Well, I've got some beautiful ones to show you."

Fernadette: "Right over here. Follow me!"

Fernadette: "This is called a painted fern."

Fernadette: "They call it that because the leaves all have lovely ombres of different colors, from pinks and purples to grays to light and dark greens, almost like an artist has painted them to be that way!"

Fernadette: "Aren't they just gorgeous?"

Fernadette: "This one has lived right here on this very spot for almost two decades. I think it's grown even a bit bigger than last year!"

Fernadette: "Look at all the cute, delicate, colorful leaves..."

Fernadette: *sighs dreamily* "It makes me so proud to be a fern myself." *sniff, sniff*

Fernadette: "Thank you for your interest in ferns, and have a wonderful day!"

Happy New Year, from your pals Silky Dan, Mabel, Graer, and Fernadette! They're all here to wish for a joyous, healthy, and fulfilling 2025 with you. Do you feel the positivity yet? They can! It's going to be a great year, if we all make this wish together. ❤️

While everyone in the house is so focused on black and orange as traditional Halloween colors, Fernadette is all about green and purple! I gave her this tabletop to make a nice witchy display, and she's doing a great job so far. There's an old tree guardian skull, a crystal lantern, a pair of lovely fluorite butterflies, and she even saved a branch that fell off the mum bush when it was planted. And when she stands there with her green self and her purple sweater, she fits right into the color scheme of her own display! =)

The Roots & 'Shrooms Gang OG Favorites: Fernadette

Fernadette is a fern rootling who has been with us since June of 2019. Her name is the Fernish version of the human name, Bernadette.

She is also an accomplished fernwitch, which means she knows a lot about plants, seeds, crystals, mushrooms, insects, candles, and nature.

She loves the supernatural, and she regularly holds seances with her friends. Just for fun, of course. No evil spirits allowed!

Over the years, she and her friends have been a great help to me in the vegetable garden.

She's always tending to and encouraging the only fern plant in the yard, this Japanese painted fern.

And at the end of the growing season every year, she makes sure to collect seeds from all the plants so she can plant them the following year.

Fernadette is in a relationship with Graer, a staghorn fern. They love to do many things together, such as gardening, hiking, and adventuring.

But their favorite thing to do is roasting marshmallows by a romantic fire.

In the Summer, Fernadette goes adventuring with her A.C.O.R.N.S. teammates.

Around this time of year, Fernadette is very much about the gourds that grow in the garden. She loves to go exploring among the vines to uncover them!

She also loves practicing candle magic, during which she casts spells to help her friends have wonderful, loving, and fulfilling lives.

It’s The Thought That Counts

Graer: “Is that a magic lamp?” Fernadette: “It sure is!”

Fernadette: “What shall we wish for?”

Graer: “How about world peace?” Fernadette: “Yeah! A very worthy wish indeed! Let’s do it!”

Fernadette: "I wish for world peace please! Hmm... nothing happened.” Graer: “I think you have to rub it.”

Fernadette: “Oh yeah, right! Silly me!” *rubs the lamp*

Fernadette: *gasp* Graer: “Something came out!”

Fernadette: “Do you suppose anything hap- Oh!” Graer: “Oh dear...”  Fernadette: “I said world peace, not world peas!” Graer: “Perhaps you should have better enunciated...” Fernadette: *sigh*

Fernadette: “Well, I screwed that up royally, didn’t I...? Some fernwitch I am.” Graer: “Hey now, look on the bright side. We have all these tasty peas!”

Fernadette: “That’s true! We’ll get our human to warm some up and let’s eat!” Graer: “Yeah! That’s the spirit!”

Just because it's Fall and everything is turning shades of yellows, oranges, and browns doesn't mean we still can't enjoy some lovely green ferns. =)

A cute little clover plant popped up right next to the painted fern, and Fernadette and Lucky saw a great opportunity for a friendship photo. Diversity is what makes the world interesting, exciting, and beautiful, so let's all celebrate our differences! This little fern and clover pair of friends will help to start everyone off with appreciating everyone's uniqueness. =)

Many of the flowering plants in the yard have gone to seed at this point, but in Fernadette's opinion, that doesn't make them any less interesting or beautiful. She was out braving the heat today, surveying the various seeds and pods that could be seen, including the yucca, the tiger lilies, and the peonies. We might overlooks all these seeds after the flowers are long gone, but Fernadette wants to remind us that all parts of a plant's life cycle are equally important. =)

It's St. Patrick's Day weekend! Yes, Friday counts because... why not? The Roots & 'Shrooms Gang are looking very festive, indeed. As flowers bloom and trees get their buds out of doors, things are looking just as green indoors with all the decorations. It brings a whole new meaning to "living green." XD

Calling All Mineral and Crystal Lovers!

Fernadette: "Hi, everyone! I just love the mineral world, don't you? Pretty crystals and colors make me smile. They have wonderful energies, and they're all so unique. That's why I began my own collection years ago."

Fernadette: "See? I've got a number of minerals in different colors, shapes, and sizes. Quartz, sunstone, amethyst, labradorite, goldstone, sodalite... the list goes on. I know my collection is small right now, but it's still growing!"

Fernadette: "My human loves minerals too. In fact, one of her favorite blogs is @bekkathyst. Over the years, she's thoroughly enjoyed seeing their posts on her dash. They're filled with the most amazing and beautiful mineral specimens, carvings, handmade jewelry, and plenty of gorgeous nature photos as well. When they can, they post about pieces you can purchase, and they have their own store!"

Fernadette: "Unfortunately, they are currently having financial troubles with their store and need some help. If you're in the market for some lovely pieces, they would love to have your business! My human has gotten such joy from seeing all the great mineral-related posts they've made through the years and wants to help them by spreading the word."

Fernadette, who is very knowledgeable regarding herbs and minerals, now wants to get into tarot card reading! Admittedly, though... she doesn't really know what she's doing quite yet. Does anybody have some suggestions for her on how she can learn? Until then, she told me she thinks the cards are very pretty. Well, it's a start. XD
