BBC SHERLOCK REWATCH - A STUDY IN PINK (REAL TIME NOTES)

From the perspective of someone who watched this show when they were thirteen, made it their whole personality and then stopped being a massive prat.

I thought about organizing this into a cohesive review, and maybe as I go on I'll delve deeper into some of my observations but for now I thought it would be funny to present my findings in raw, mostly unaltered form:

- from a writing point of view I understand that John gushing over Sherlock is to show off and emphasize their specialest boy- but, some sincerity is infused into it from an acting standpoint

One year ago, it was time for Golden Cheese's long-awaited release into CRK after over two years of being a mystery character. Only having very small references to her from the other ancients, we knew almost NOTHING about her other than the bare minimum. The few things we did know about her came from an old artbook, and based on that info, fans speculated about her personality. From what I'd seen, the most common fan interpretation of Golden Cheese was kinda a second Hollyberry, or making her the "feral one" of the ancients. Basically, they saw her as a tomboy, because short hair equals tomboy apparently -___- (when again, Hollyberry is right there)

Meanwhile, I didn't like that fanon interpretation, and what I had more in mind was an antagonist. I legit thought she was gonna be a lot colder and meaner of a character cuz of the artbook (which has been retconned). So, that's what I expected to see...

A bit after the update went live, I tuned in to Hyrool's livestream (cuz, fun fact about me: I almost never turn my game on as soon as an update goes live, cuz I like waiting for any possible bugs to get fixed), JUST in time to see him play the tail end of episode 17.....as in, in the middle of her boss fight. As soon as it was over, my first impression of her was of her in her radiant goddess outfit, looking absolutely gorgeous, and with that confident smirk on her face.....and her voice....I already knew I liked her voice from the prologue, but....but...then, rather than try to banish the main characters, or get angry, she.....said....

"Shall we take a closer look~?"

THAT LINE RIGHT THERE is where it started. That image, that I was lucky enough to walk into....I-I remember thinking right there, "OH...."

After that, I started playing myself, and....I-I learned more and more about her over the course of a couple hours, rewatching episode 17 and seeing the way she acts....Her relationship with her subjects especially....Her being referred to as a goddess....Her dialogue, her demeanor, her cool powers, her voice....She was absolutely majestic to me....and I could TELL she believed she was a god, which....I-I love that trope so flipping much.....

I-I realized what kind of character she was, and...I-I was doomed. I have a type, and she just played riiiiight into it. VERY quickly, I was doomed......Later on, I read her bio on the wiki, and came across that line about her considering her subjects treasures worth collecting and how she's always looking for new ones to "call her own"...

And, well......sh-she still hasn't released me. -////////-

One year later, after finally completing my BEHEMOTH of a fanfic about her, I'm still down pretty bad.....D-despite the sad elements of her story, that doesn't distract from how fun it is to simp for her, cuz she's more than that.

So.....h-happy anniversary to her and to all her fans. I-it feels great to know I'm not alone!! Cuz, at the start, it really felt like I was.....Wh-while she was a hit, I didn't see any other people who liked her in the same way as me for a while.....U-until I started my fic.....>////////<

I've even called her "my F/O" a few times, even if it'd be different with her....I-I wouldn't be the only one.....Sh-she'd be happy to know we're all deep in the trenches for her....heheh.....I-I wouldn't have much to offer her, tho, but I wanna believe she'd still be flattered and even encourage me....X/////D

hi friends, i’m 24f she/her, looking for someone similar in age (18+ required, absolutely no minors, preferably 20+) who loves fantasy, monsters, romance, and loooong lengthy replies. i’ve been writing for the past 15+ years with dreams of one day being published, and have been roleplaying for the past 10+ years, though i’ve been on an extended hiatus. i’m recently quit my job (living in EST) so my schedule is pretty open to start writing together! Even though i have a lot of new free time, i do have a partner and responsibilities, and am also aware of burnout, real life, and mental health so never be afraid to pull the breaks for a few days, weeks, or months if we need to but please communicate that. i almost exclusively write medieval high fantasy, but also enjoy historical fiction (absolutely nothing modern ie. 1930's onward) and lately have been into zombie apocalypses as i’m rewatching twd. i only work with originals, ocxoc, but am open to playing with a canon universe as long as we make it our own! i’m mainly looking for mxm and mxf romance since that’s what i have the most experience with, but i am lgbtq+ friendly. i prefer a partner who is open to writing a wide range of characters, not just female ocs or “submissive” types, just to ensure we keep the threads fresh for both of us. i’m more than happy to double and work on multiple threads as well. i like a heavy emphasis on troubled characters with real flaws, trauma, and their subsequent development, exploring interesting relationship dynamics both healthy and toxic, and extensive worldbuilding + magic systems. customized discord servers, fanart, headcanons, drawn maps of our worlds, couples playlists, pinterest boards–you name it, i love it and am here for it.

concepts in mind; while i don’t have any set plots, characters, or worlds (i generally enjoy figuring this out organically with my partner) there are some things that i like to write and cliches i love to see. Anything with fae, monsters, demons and witches, interesting takes on vampires + werewolves, i’m here for! i love fairytale retellings and mythology, and playing with religious motifs and inspiration (think paradise lost). themes of rebellion, war-torn kingdoms, corrupt monarchies, prophecies, racing against the clock to defeat eldritch world-ending monsters, dark overlords, magic always has a price, everyone is living on borrowed time just to name a few. when it comes to romance tropes, you can never go wrong with enemies to lovers, soulmates, forbidden romance, arranged/forced marriage, hidden identity, the hero falls for the villain. i foam at the mouth for soft ocs that snap and go feral, not a god’s chosen but a god’s cursed, the found family out of a band of ragtag misfits, complex villains who are actual people, i could literally go on for hours.

other tidbits; i don’t write canon characters or with fandoms, but i do enjoy my fair share of shows, books, and video games! i'm open to taking inspiration from any of them, so i’ll list a few if it helps give a better idea of what i’m into and possible interests we might share–

shows/movies: game of thrones + house of the dragon, outlander, the walking dead, pride and prejudice, stranger things, lotr, twilight

books: a court of thorns and roses + throne of glass, six of crows + shadow and bone, the night circus, and many more

games: animal crossing, legend of zelda, the sims, dragon age, stardew valley, the last of us

Get to know me: Turn: Washington's Spies Edition!

Favorite Season: Season 3! *cuts to everyone booing me* I truly don't understand why so many people sh*t on this season, because that whole opening sequence with Bradford and Hickey, as well as Andre's h.anging was some of the show's best writing, IMO. I was riveted throughout both of those episodes. I'm assuming it's partially because of Ben getting a love interest (people went absurdly feral over that (in a bad way)), as well as complaints about Ben's shift in characterization (I love seeing characters struggle with their morals, so sue me), and the biggest strike of all: Ben's wig lol. Season 1 is a close second -- I love Ben's starry-eyed naiveté there! <3

Least Favorite: Season 2. I'm sorry, but I don't give a you-know-what about the A.nnlett/Abe/Simcoe drama, and Ben was featured the least in this season. No season is a bad season, but this is the one I tend to rewatch the least. Aside from Ben's meltdown over Sackett, I don't tend to refer to any of his scenes here for inspiration.

Favorite character(s): Ben (duh lol), though since it's an ensemble cast, I tend to shift back and forth between my favorites. I really grew to love Mary in S3, and Anna in S4, and Peggy was a fave ever since S2. And Sackett! <3

Least Favorite Character: Simcoe, I guess? I loathed both him and Abe during my first watch -- literally couldn't stand either of them -- but now, I have an appreciation for both in regards to what they serve to the plot, so I'm no longer terribly bugged.

Favorite Romantic Relationship: I don't have one. Or at least, I don't have a favorite canon relationship, though I did enjoy some of the Andre/Peggy scenes in S2. In regards to fanon, I have several thanks to RP lol.

Favorite Friendship: Probably Ben and Sackett. The dynamic is hella underrated, and I like the whole crazy!uncle/nephew thing they had going on. I also actually really like Caleb and Abe. I know everyone goes on and on about Caleb and Ben, but Caleb seemed closer to Abe than Ben in the pilot with all their wrestling/goofing off, so I'm actually more partial to that dynamic than the former. It's just too bad we never saw more of them (though I did enjoy their run-ins in S2 and S4 -- both moments were iconic, too, with the j.ail rescue attempt and the bit with L.afayette).

Favorite Episode: I don't have an absolute favorite, but I do tend to rewatch the ep where Ben finds out Samuel died, The Battle of Setauket, 3x1 and 3x10 quite a bit. I rewatch bits of 4x5 and 4x6 a fair amount as well.

Least Favorite Episode: Definitely the GWash-centric ep. Ben wasn't in there, and since I find Turn!W.ashington boring, I found the entire episode boring. Sorry. *shields self from hissing fans*

At the beginning of 2021 I got so obsessed with Lupinranger (That I had already seen while it was airing, mind you) that in the span of a week I watched the entire show three times. You don't wanna know what it was like four months later when I was *STILL* foaming at the mouth over it, or anything I did or said during that period of time. Or.....how many times I rewatched all of Lupinranger.

And I ain't got no control over what'll catch my interest or how long I'll be otherwise preoccupied. JSKLDFjsfjasldf

When I first discovered Kamen Rider ....lol my brain decided it would be a good idea to speedrun everything Ever and the most bonKERS and iNSANE way possible.

Yeah, The Ultimate note is our savior! I watched 10ish eps of Reboot, facepalmed, and binged UN in like 3 days. Then I decided to tough it up and finish The Unholy Mess That Is Reboot (tbh, it's just stuborness at this point & it's gonna bug me forever if I don't finish) On the bright side, when The Mess gets unbearable, I just rewatch UN. Because fuck you Sanshu. And also, Xiao YuLiang has pretty eyes. And can flip a dude. I'm feral over him since ShaHai, he's the ultimate (ha) XiaoGe for me.

Yes! UN is truly the balm to my hurt soul. I admire your dedication!

Oh, dude! Yes! XYL is the only Xiaoge for me now. I really liked him in SH, but couldn't be sure if it was just a desire for him to be good or whether he was really good as Xiaoge because he had so few scenes. And then UN was like, HE IS FUCKING GREAT AS XIAOGE. He made me see the light of Xiaoge, I finally understood why people loved Xiaoge. And now I shall die on this hill, will defend this XG.

I really liked Deceit Janus's roll in this video

It's gonna take a lot of time to get used to that name (but hey, human aus)

If the Patton angst just about killed me then I'm dead because the Roman angst-

Also Logan's contributions were amazing

The EXPRESSIONS in this video GOSH

We also got to see so much more of deceit Janus's character, which is really nice

Moceit, Roceit, Lociet, and Royality a pretty good mix

SvS is still my favorite but I think this might take 2nd place

-and now I go and rewatch it a million times until I can't take the heartbreak any more
