Here to scream about Anger by SaL. It's like someone put every fight I've ever had to song. Quiet but rapid buildup, explosion, and you're just so drained and sad afterward. The lyrics are tragic and gorgeous, I'm a sucker for fire and ash imagery. Also, like so much SaL, activates all my Malex feels. Thoughts?

Hi Nonnie! Thanks for heeding the call and coming to scream with me about Sleeping at Last! That Emotions EP is A LotTM for just being 4 songs (and only three with lyrics as Fear is instrumental) and oof, anger is a good one. He actually uses fire and ash imagery a lot and I am HERE for it. (Sidebar, if you're ever interested in how the music and lyrics get made his blog has a lot of song breakdowns and he started a podcast as well when he kicked off his Astronomy series with the Total Solar Eclipse that is also fascinating, especially on the Enneagram songs. Full disclosure, I have a bachelors of science in music with a minor in music composition, so it may be a little musically technical but it really is super interesting how he specifically picks things like key and song length and key words.)

And the Malex feels with this one?! Oof oof oof. Because not only does it hit the beat of Malex fighting over the lost decade with lyrics like

and

Reckless but honest words leave out my mouth Like kerosene on a flame of doubt I just couldn't make it right Alarms will sound But it's too late for holy water now

But it also hits some hard Caulfield and maybe Feral Michael Over Kidnapped Alex feels for me.

Overall, this song swells with the emotion it’s meant to invoke but it also has a hopeful end in the last lyrics

Sooner or later the fire dies down I'll open up my eyes again

That’s something I love about him, is he often ends with hope. Not always, but with Anger and Sorrow specifically, they are both powerful emotional songs but they end with a hint of light in the lyrics
