Happy New Year and Welcome to the month of Metal Ox. This month and the year started when Mercury was retrograde, so expect misunderstandings and delays; being patient you will succeed.

According to the western Calendar this is the month of Capricorn and in Indian calendar this is the month of Makar-Sankranti; so not really good month for Dating, meeting new connection, starting new Venture and buying or investing in real estate.

This month is perfect for de-cluttering your spaces – physical and emotional – get rid of your doubts, fears, guilts and most importantly anger and frustration. This is the month to get ready and prepare your home for coming up Chinese New Year starting from 28th January – The year of Fire ROOSTER, is going to be very exciting, colorful and eventful year for many of us unless you know how to use the most powerful energies of the ROOSTER. Important Astrological Shift: (Time to Free yourself from your Karmic sufferings)

Makar Sankranti  marks the transition of the sun into the zodiac sign of Makara (Capricorn) on its celestial path, which is the first change in the zodiac after the winter solstice. This is a Solar event and it falls every year on 14th January. This is most ideal time for us to work on our inner world to establish Peace. As important spiritual practice - to bathe in Ganges water, wear black clothes and mediate on Lord Sun to help us clean our inner space to establish peace by burning our anxiety, anger, fear and guilt.

Bhogi Day (13th January)

The day preceding Makara Sankranti is called Bhoghi (13th January). This is when people discard old and derelict things and concentrate on new things causing change or transformation. At dawn, people light a bonfire with logs and wooden furniture that are no longer useful. The disposal of derelict things is where all old habits, vices, attachment to relations and material things are sacrificed in the fire of the knowledge. It represents realization, transformation and purification of the soul by imbibing divine virtues. In urban living we practice donating the things as means of charity.

Most importantly, this simple ritual of two days help you Free yourself from your Karmic sufferings coming from this birth or previous birth. If you feel that your life is in rut, not moving forward or stuck at one point for many years OR there is continuous sadness and failure in your life; this the time for you to purify yourself and get blessed with transformation. This is not religious practice but spiritual one. Person of any age, gender, cast, creed or religion may take his life upward by this simple spiritual tradition.  

This day, Sweets in generous quantities are prepared and distributed. It is a time for families to congregate. Landlords/employers give gifts of food, clothes and money to their workforce.

FENG SHUI for the Month:

Welcome to the month of Yang Metal Ox. Non-complaining and less demanding animal knows well the importance of hard work. Ox will take small step at a time, but it will be always firm and forward. You will never see Ox retreat.

This month illness star is stronger controlling center of Ba-gua; so please watch your health; try to maintain healthy life-style. Eat well and rest well.

This month SE and SW sectors are really powerful and very lucky sectors. Great career luck, money luck and business luck will be significant for the homes facing these directions. Display Double Happiness sign (in red) to further activate this lucky sectors. Lucky signs will be Dragon, Snake, Sheep and Monkey to get the benefit of this stars combination.

South and Horse year born people are lucky to have Romance star in their sector. #4 star will also bring excellent academic luck to this sector, especially good for middle daughter or only daughter. Place golden pagoda or display picture of Phoenix in south to enjoy best results.

East sector and RABBIT year born people need to be careful this month as volatile star #7 has flown in this sector. This will create fight, injuries, thefts and burglary. Place Blue Rhino or Tusk elephant to control this bad star.

Pregnant women and old people must avoid WEST sector this month; Rooster people need to be careful as unlucky illness star has flown to west.

North facing homes and RAT people have negative month ahead as inauspicious star #5 is in North. Luck is not in your favour, so Rat born be careful this month. There are chances you may get robbed as well so avoid late nights and lonely places.

NW is very auspicious this month as lucky career success star will stay here till month end. Dog and Pig will be greatly benefited but try to keep this sector quiet.
