For years now, I've wanted to hike the 2100 miles of the Appalachian Trail. I haven't but I will. Not all in one swoop via what is called a thru hike but section by section over the span of my life. Not a dream deferred but one altered to better fit who And how I am. Last year was my first go at it. @alsiealsiealsie and I ( #unibooz ) ventured out w borrowed gear and a lot courage. Over 6 days we trekked 35 or so miles w overpacked backpacks on our backs (prolly 40 lbs when we started). We made it. Wasn't easy due to learning curves, having new bodies, the terrain (climbed the height point in Ga on the Appalachian trail) blah blah blah... This year memorial weekend we picked up where we left off. Neels gap to Dick creek Gap. We were familiar w what to expect yet it was all new. Our beautiful bodies did what they were made to do, they carried us to and fro thru the ups and downs. Funny how they always do that no matter the situation. They prevail as did our spirits. We lived and wandered for 4 days with our lives on our backs. We were courageous and joyful. We walked 40 miles with elevations reaching as high as 4,430 ft and as low as 2,949 ft. Ventures like these are revealing. They remind us and tell us about ourselves, how we show up in the world, where we are brave and how we can improve. Of course u need not do this to be revealed, but I'm grateful for the privilege to lean in this way. Although i get all too many learns from my day to day life it is a blessing to gain them in solitude away from the world as I know it. This image is when it's all over. I felt Bawssy as fuck, happy and appreciative. I was high on an accomplishment and honored to share it with BlueBird (Alsie). #earthsoulswander #femmsintheforrest #appalachiantrail #appalachianmountains #georgia #afrooutdoor "Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary." #cecilbeaton (at in a mountain on the appalachian trail)
