Announcing Femmefest 2021!

*dusts off the account* There’s been a few changes behind the scenes for this year. We went from 3 mods to 2 which is why this year’s fest is kicking off with little fanfare but please help us making it a good year by sharing the word!! 

We are excited to announce our 12th round, and so excited to have you! Femmefest is an exchange fest dedicated towards the wlw couples (and throuples) of Harry Potter. The minimum word count is only 1000 words (or a finished piece of art of equal quality).

Please review our rules HERE. We will only grant extensions up to two weeks, one week at a time. This is non-negotiable, and we hope you keep this in mind when you sign up for the fest. If you do not turn your assignment in by this time period, we will give your assignment to a pinch hitter, and your gift will be given to the community. Please note that after the first week of extensions, we will ask to see at least a draft of your work as proof that you have started.

Notes:

It's only a short time after the war that the gang gathers at the beach on a brisk autumn night to enjoy a bonfire. It serves as a way to relive the experience of finally seeing your friends after a long summer away from Hogwarts (without the chaos that often followed).

Unbeknownst to either of them, a picture of Ginny stealing glances of Luna while she sings for the group is captured on a muggle camera. That small moment is forever immortalized in a photo album at the burrow. Every so-often, the old family photos are hauled out at holiday gatherings and the two of them have a good laugh about how oblivious they were to each other's feelings. It's been 14 years, but Ginny still finds herself stealing glances at Luna with the same look of loving familiarity.

I had never considered Cho and Fleur as a pairing before, and once your prompts list put the idea in my head, I couldn't let it go. I was imagining them meeting at some sort of gala and both being absolutely flustered, Fleur because she's seeing the shy girl she met at Hogwarts transformed into a Quidditch power house, and Cho because she's seeing the crazy smart witch she idolized during the tri-wizard tournament turned into a crazy competent and well respected healer. It would be a sort of moment where their eyes lock across the room, and that one second becomes the catalyst that changes both of their lives and brings them together. I think the dynamic of them being absolutely convinced the other is out of their league would be so fun to play with, but I'm not much of a writer, so I hope this drawing gets the entire story I've written in my head across. Chapter 2: Narcissa and Lily were also a pairing I'd never considered before, but I think they'd have so much to teach each other. I think what would start as copious amounts of sexual tension between stubborn, fiery, and smart Lily and shifty, skeptical, double agent Narcissa would end in a connection strong enough to end a war. I think Lily could pull Narcissa out of the grip of her family's beliefs, and show her that life is more than a set of rules to be scrupulously followed. But I also feel like Narcissa could show Lily that it's ok to indulge yourself sometimes. I think they'd teach each other that they are each worth more than being a pawn in some war, that neither of them are necessary sacrifices. That they deserve lives beyond the destruction.
