I believe in our capacities to think critically and encourage us to look past the surface level. If the media is presenting information in a certain light, let us question WHY they have chosen to share from this point of view. How could it possibly benefit them? Then we can have a better understanding of their true intentions. Usually, thanks to corporate sponsorship, their interests lie in framing the attitudes and desires of the people who pay them in a positive light, this encourages the spread of false information. Instead, it was a separate Snapchat conversation between two individuals, initiated by a girl, which “coincidentally got mixed up”, police sources told ThePrint." 😤 Barring my obvious disappointment and lack of surprise, because I spent the time to contemplate this bullshit, here is the speech I prepared. ⠀⠀ The lies of one woman do not discredit all women. ⠀⠀ I despise when a person falsey accuses other people of rape, or worse plots rape as some twisted "character test". Because that is wholely unacceptable. I don't care the motivation is, it hurts everyone involved including the credibility of women who men rape. ⠀⠀ Feminism is not blindly attacking men based on tropes or stereotypes. The true foundation of feminism is criticism, critical thinking, research, and accountability (holding everyone accountable for their choices and actions). ⠀⠀ Have men been falsely accused of rape? Yes. Is this the case in every situation?
