What do you do when you have over ripe bananas? You bake banana nut bread, that's what! I prefer pecans over walnuts, I also like to line the top with whole pecans and sprinkle it with large crystal raw sugar. #imsomartha #bananabread #rawsugar #banana #banananut #banananutbread #kitchenaidmixer #kitchenaid #ilovebaking #homemade #yum #delish #procrastibaking #ihaveeditingtodo #femalephotographer #femalebaker #cuisinart #icecreammaker https://www.instagram.com/p/BzRAdaDHnPU/?igshid=16lvyitqa3q7v

Fortuity: A Chance Encounter - Prince Jaemin AU [Part 1]
Tumblr media
Fluff | Prince!AU
word count: 2.2K
FemaleBaker!Reader x Prince!Jaemin
Na Jaemin is to inherit the throne as his father, King Na passed on. His coronation is to take place in a few days, although after visiting a small bakery in town his heart is hit with cupid’s arrow, stunned by the beauty of the bakester. [Part 2]
A/N: i had to repost this bc something fucked up,, but here u go!! Prince Jaemin once again reposted!! :))- Doyoung’s Darling
“My prince, your mother has sent me to call you down for your daily training.” The Butler, Suho says placing a hand on the Prince’s shoulder. “You must get going, Prince. Swordsman Jackson is waiting for your arrival.”
“Yes, Suho I’ll be heading there I just need to clean-”
“Oh no, no Prince, you must head down immediately.” Suho rushed Prince Jaemin out of his room. “You only have five minutes until your training starts, and if you’re late oh boy, I will not be hearing the end of it from your mother - claiming me as a lousy butler, and I can not risk losing this job,” Suho said flashing a nervous smile. “Now please, head down to the training grounds - I’ll clean up your work for you.” Suho gestured him to head down. Prince Jaemin bowed and rushed down the stairs.
“Swordsman! Sorry, I-” Jaemin was cut off as Jackson shoved the protective armour into his arms.
“No time to chat! Put these on Prince, let’s practice because I want to take you somewhere today.” Jaemin stood there bewildered but began to slide on his armour. Grabbing the silver sword Jackson held out for him, Prince Jaemin got in position.
“Okay, you remember everything I taught you yesterday?” Swordsman Jackson raised his eyebrows.
Prince Jaemin nodded. “Awareness, strong defence and balance”
“Forgot one, your highness,” Jackson snickered. Jaemin confused furrowing his brows. “Distraction,” Jackson said stomping his left leg once and moving forward, swinging his sword and bringing Jaemin’s up, sweeping it away flying out of his hold landing on the floor. “Remember your highness, use distraction as your secret weapon.”
“Will do, Swordsman.” Jaemin nodded with a smirk. “Now, let’s continue shall we?” he said getting back into position after picking his sword off the ground.
“Of course.” Jackson bowed and the two began to battle once more.
Thus after a long training period of an hour or so, Prince Jaemin and Swordsman Jackson sat back to back in the middle of the matted floor. Sweaty with heavy breaths they congratulated each other for a successful match. Taking a deep breath, the Swordsman spoke,
“Okay my Prince, now I must take you somewhere for a treat.”
“A treat?” Prince Jaemin said catching his breath.
“Yes, a little bakery I found.”
“But, I’m not sure mother would approve of sweets I must-”
“No no, my Prince,” Swordsman Jackson cut him off. “It’ll be okay, I told your mother I would take you for a walk today in the village, I promise you won’t be in trouble if anyone does it’ll for sure be me.”
“Are you sure of such a decision, Swordsman.” Jaemin raised an eyebrow.
“Of course, my Prince you deserve a break and a little treat, as do I because I am craving a blueberry muffin right now,” Jackson said standing up, rubbing his stomach with a pout. Jaemin laughed as he stood up, walking over to put his sword in the rightful place on the wall.
“Then let’s get going!” He flashed a bright smile, throwing an arm around Jackson’s shoulders.
So, the Swordsman and Prince walked through the village to the small bakery. The smiling sun shining down on them, and the villagers bowing down as a kind greeting. The two passed by a small stall selling brooches, Swordsman Jackson brought them off their walk to take a look at the magnificent pieces. Each one made with different diamonds and jewels, some gold, others silver, bronze and even rose.
“My Prince, why don’t you pick one out? It will surely be a great piece to wear at your coronation when you are to become King…” Jackson smirked. “Or when you finally end up passing your training sessions and get to fight like a true Knight, instead of getting your sword flipped out of your hand.” Jaemin playfully elbowed the Swordsman.
“I will improve, I just need practice.” Jaemin put his hands on his waist and stood up straight on his top toes as if he tried to intimidate the Swordsman.
“Nice try my Prince, but you have a long way to go.” Jackson chuckled, putting a hand on Jaemin’s shoulder and pushing him back down on his feet. “Now, which brooch shall we buy?” he turned his attention back to the stall, making eye contact with the elderly merchant and showing a warm smile. The old merchant smiled with slight dirt and yellow stained teeth, but the smile was none the less welcoming. Prince Jaemin looked around in the open boxes for a brooch which would suit him, but could not find one.
“I don’t know Swordsman. Although they are all an incredible sight to look at, I can not find one that satisfies me, which I feel belongs to me.”
“How about this my Prince!” The Swordsman said carefully picking up a large silver dragonfly brooch. It had shining diamonds making up its wings, two tiny red gems for its eyes and the colour of gold for the legs, “this could fit you well.”
Prince Jaemin grabbed the brooch with his index and thumb, carefully inspecting it, “it surely is a beauty.” He spoke. “But, I wish for something a little smaller.” He apologetically smiled.
“Ah, I have something for you then, Prince” the elderly merchant piped up. She reaches down into her side of the stall and pulls out a small red velvet box. “Here, you might like this. It is fit for such a handsome boy like you, and of course a King to be.” Prince Jaemin took a hold of the red velvet box with both hands, putting one under it and opening it with the other. His mouth slightly parted at the handiwork he’d seen. It was a stunning eagle brochure - made of gold, a tiny blue jewel for its eye, and a pearl the bird stood on - leaving the Prince and Swordsman in awe of such gorgeous craftwork.
Jaemin looks up at the elderly merchant,
“I can not take such an art piece from you, you must take it back.”
“No, no, no you must keep it kind Prince. If I were to take it back, I would be left in sadness that you did not want one of my works.” The elderly merchant spoke in a soft voice. “Please keep it, it will bring me great pleasure if you do so.”
“Oh of course, but how much is it? I will pay as much you ask for.”
“Free of charge.” The elderly merchant smiled. “The only payment I ask for is if you wear it, and not treat it as schlock.”
“You must want some type of cash, merchant - I would feel guilty if I were to take this from you like this.” Jaemin pleaded.
The elderly merchant shook her head, “Prince, if you do not already know, I do not sell these brooches for money, I sell them to be kind.” Prince Jaemin looked at her muddled. The elderly merchant continued, “it brings me joy when other’s have happiness, and if that happiness can come from something which I have crafted by my own two hands, that my Prince, is an even greater accomplishment.”
The Prince shifted his gaze from the elderly merchant down to the jewelled brooch. “So, I can really take this for free? As long as it isn’t treated as rubbish?”
“As long as it makes you happy, yes.” The old merchant nodded.
“Then, I shall take it. I shall wear it and remember it as a vow to be happy with little things in life.” Prince Jaemin pledged with his right hand on his chest and a thankful smile.
The merchant smiled, “you should pick one too Swordsman, after all, there is one for everyone.”
Swordsman Jackson lit up, he reached towards one of the brooches taking a hold of a gold brooch shaped like a crest, with a silver knight in the middle. “I’ll take this one if you allow.” The merchant nodded once again, waving them a gentle goodbye. The two smiled at the elderly merchant for the last time as they turned around continuing their walk to the bakery.
“Finally, we’ve made it my Prince!” Jackson gestured towards the small bakery in front of them. Eats and Treats, the sign spelled on the wooden door. “Shall we head in?” he held open the door with a smile and the two walked into the tiny bakery.
The inside walls and oven were made up of fieldstone, five wooden tables placed were composed of the finest redwood. Flour bags took their place beside the stone oven, cups hung on the wall, and bread put on the side shelves near the front.
“Is anyone here Swordsman?”
“The door was open, so someone-”
“Achoo!” The Swordsman and Prince were taken aback by the sudden sneeze and opening of the back door. The sneezing continued as a young woman walked out with clothes covered in flour, and cheeks a tint of red.
“Ah that damned flour bag! Can that looby not do his job properly? I should’ve told him out a long time-” The young woman caught a view of the two males standing in the bakery. “Oh my goodness! I am so sorry for the inconvenience, my apologies.” The young woman rushed over to the two, she flashed a smile giving a curtsey. “Excuse my appearance, but how may I be of your service today?”
Prince Jaemin stood astonished at the young bakester in front of him. She wore a long tattered gown faded of its beige colour, flour stained her clothes, some in her hair and smudged on her right cheek. Despite her unkempt appearance, the Prince found himself struck by her beauty. Her eyes looked to hold the stars, alluring lips which he craved to lay his upon and her divine figure left him dumbfounded. To him she was the quintessence of pulchritude; she was beauty.
“You know you’ll get a fly in your mouth if you keep your mouth open like that.” The bakester let out a giggle snapping Jaemin out of his trance. His cheeks developed a pink tinge, he turned his gaze down to the floor in embarrassment as he heard the bakester and swordsman’s laughter. Bowing with an apologetic smile for staring Jaemin avoided eye contact with the girl.
“Sorry for that, but may I ask what your treats are for today?” Jackson smiled brightly. “We have to be heading back soon.”
“Our special for today is banana bread, is that fine?” The bakester kindly smiled.
“Perfect! My Prince would you…” Jackson trailed off as he saw Jaemin lost in thought waving a hand in front of his face, taking Jaemin out of his daze. “would you wish to have banana bread?”
“Yes, banana bread would be nice,” Jaemin said flustered over his unintentional stares. The bakester walks over to the stone oven throwing in another wood to increase the fire. Picking up a bread piece from the side shelves she places it into the oven allowing it to warm up. Prince Jaemin looked at her as if she was a piece of delicate artwork. He was solicitous about wanting to know the girl who made his heart swoon. Her name, her likes and dislikes, he wanted to know everything but could he? Being a Prince soon to be King would he be able to?
Finishing the preparation of the banana bread, the bakester placed it in a brown paper bag and handed it to the two with a kind smile. Prince Jaemin and Swordsman Jackson thanked the bakester for her service as they walked out of the bakery.
“Wow, I never thought the highness would make such a jest of himself.” Jackson teased the Prince. “Especially not over a commoner who sells bread.”
“The universe is full of wonders Swordsman, and that bakester is one of them,” Jaemin replies sheepishly causing Jackson to laugh.
“Perhaps you should ask her to attend your coronation next week, my Prince.”
“Oh yes! I’ll return again morrow and hopefully, she accepts.”
“Maybe ask for her name as well,” Jackson said munching on his banana bread making the Prince stop in his tracks.
“Alack! I can not believe to be such a looby! I forgot to ask her name!” Jaemin face-palmed in disbelief - he forgot to ask her name. He was truly an idiot.
“All the more reason for you to return morrow, my Prince,” Jackson said with a face full of banana bread. “I recommend in a more flattering outfit as well.” Jackson once-overs Jaemin. The Prince looks down at his outfit and realizes he still wore his armour from training, mentally slapping himself for being such a fool. Although he never expected to have such an encounter. “Or you can show up in this again and tell her you’re her Knight-” Jaemin smacked his back, Jackson spitting out his banana bread turning into a fit of laughter.
And so, the Prince and Swordsman dawdled back to the castle returning to their duties.
That night Prince Jaemin lay in bed, mind filled with thoughts of the comely bakester. She had a type of elegance and charm from simplicity. He was determined to meet her once again with a glimmer of faith for her to be his, and he her’s. He was truly smitten but could not care as his thoughts would not fathom most except linger on the comely commoner.

Fortuity: A Chance Encounter - Prince Jaemin AU [Part 2]

FemaleBaker!Reader x Prince!Jaemin ((or in this case King!Jaemin))
Na Jaemin is to inherit the throne as his father, King Na passed on. His coronation is to take place in a few days, although after visiting a small bakery in town his heart is hit with cupid’s arrow, stunned by the beauty of the bakester. [PART 1 HERE]
A/N: make sure to read part 1 of my shitty writing before this but here it is part 2!! which is extremely overdue and it isn't even as good as the first part lmao I’m vvv happy you guys are enjoying our NCT PRINCE!Series :)) feedback is appreciated and REQUESTS ARE OPEN BUT smut will be posted a little later because it’s quite hard to write smut so it isn't repetitive, but just as a reassurance the requests we have received are currently in progress! (^_^) ~ Doyoung’s Darling
Thereupon the previous night Prince Jaemin woke up to the bright sunlight resting on his face. He scrunched up his face and let out a groan, pulling the covers over his face.
“Every morning the same routine repeats itself.” Suho chuckled. “Get up dear Prince, breakfast is to be served and you’re to prepare for your coronation taking place soon.”
Coronation, the word rang in his ears. Jaemin shot his eyes open and sat up on the edge of his bed. He was to be appointed King, he’d soon be a ruler of his own kingdom, the rules and responsibilities weigh heavy on his shoulders. Although, being a King was prosperous and Prince Jaemin being born with a silver spoon, he had the opportunity to experience it- except for the fact all he wished for was to return to the bakery he’d been to the previous day, come face to face with that stranger who had him in a muse and muddle of emotions. He wanted to know her, kindle a sort of love between them, but before all of that he had to know her name. In order to achieve that he required to invite her to his coronation which he’d foolishly forgotten during their last encounter. Really? who forgets to ask someone’s name when they first meet them, surely an imbecile he is.
And so Prince Jaemin rushed to get ready to attend to the rest of his daily duties that were left and head over to his swords training. Once reaching the training grounds the Prince apologized for his tardiness once again. Looking up at Swordsman Jackson he saw him with a smile on his face, unlike his usual disappointed expression he’d come to daily. Prince Jaemin cocked his head to the side in confusion, “What? Did you get hit in your head today or something?”
“Well not in my head, but surely have been in my heart, my Prince.”
Jaemin sighed at what the swordsman said. “Ah, who is the lovely lady you’re hooked on?” he nudged the Swordsman.
“That my Prince is for the grown-ups to know, and for you to just wait and find out.” Jackson winked. “in celebration of me finding a lovely lady, I will give you a day off today.”
“but-”
“Do not worry my Prince, your mother will not find out I’ve let you ditch training.”
“Are you sure, Swordsman,” Jaemin said worriedly.
“As always my Prince, trust me I have your back through thick and thin, shall these walls crumble, shall you fall out of your wealth I will be here to protect you and serve by your side, not just as your knight, but as your companion until the day I breathe my last breath.” Jackson dramatically raised a hand up and put the other over his heart as swearing an oath to Jaemin causing him to laugh.
“and so what now? What am I to do since you’re letting me out of practice?”
Jackson raised an eyebrow. “Why of course to meet your lovely stranger, your comely bakester do you not wish to know her name and invite her to your coronation?”
“Oh yes! Thank you, Swordsman I shall head to the village at once!” Jaemin began to turn. “but may I take one of the horses? Or are they busy being groomed?”
“Oh not today my Prince, they will be groomed tomorrow so you can absolutely take one out.” Jackson nodded. Jaemin smiled and ran off to the horse stables, picking one out he rode off into town.
This is it, this is his chance to finally know the stranger who he’d fallen head over heels for. Prince Jaemin took in a deep breath and pushed open the wooden door stepping into the bakery. And there he saw her, the beauty he was captivated by yesterday except she wasn’t a mess in flour. She was placing a bread into a brown paper bag for a customer and smiled waving them off. The Prince swore to himself that her smile was brighter than the sun, one of the most breathtaking ones. A smile which he’d never even thought could or would exist.
“Excuse me, would you like anything?” Jaemin was snapped out of his daze by her voice, a mesmerizing one indeed - beautiful and unique. He shook his head to bring himself back to reality flashing a smile. “Well if you’re not going to buy anything may I get you anything else?”
Prince Jaemin stood in awe, at a loss for words to be spoken. “Alright, listen you were here yesterday and I’m not sure if you have a habit of zoning out, or if you’re just really slow at reacting but what is your problem?” The bakester asked in frustration.
“Oh, uhm my apologies,” Jaemin said bowing. “I am the Prince as you already know..” he trailed off the bakester looked at him with a raised eyebrow. “I am here to ask you for two very important things. Mind if I do?”
“Not at all, go ahead.”
“Well first off would you by any chance be coming to my coronation next week?” Jaemin gulped nervously.
“Why of course your highness, the whole village will be, the peasants, the bakesters, the merchants none of us would miss it for anything.” The bakester kindly replied.
Jaemin blushed shifting his gaze down to his feet and back to the bakester,
“alright and secondly I would like to clear something up with you.” The girl nodded signalling him to continue. “the only reason I really decided to come back to this bakery was that I’ve been bewitched by you and your beauty. I’ve been so fascinated by how a mere human can be you, one of the millions of wonders in this universe.”
“Your highness...” the bakester stood in shock. Was this really what she was hearing? Is this a dream? The Prince, THE PRINCE is struck by her beauty? What beauty could a commoner like her have to meet royalty standards?
” Please hear me out,” Jaemin grabbed her hand in his. “come attend my coronation, promise me you will make it and allow me a dance with you?” He spoke with tenderness. The bakester nodded,
“Of course, I promise.”
Prince Jaemin smiled brighter than a diamond would be polished,
“May I ask your name, bakester?”
The bakester looked at Jaemin,
“(y/n), (y/n) (y/l/n) your highness.” she curtsied.
“That’s a charming name for someone as charming as you, it fits perfectly.”
Prince Jaemin and (y/n) developed pink tinges on their cheeks staring down at the ground. Wow, the Prince was thrilled he could finally get to know the stranger who shot through his heart like cupid’s bow, alas that excitement he will surely keep until returning back to the castle to his overdue tasks.
“I’m sorry to be leaving you so soon, as much as I hate to say it I must head back to my pain in the neck royal duties which I surely despise.” Jaemin rolled his eyes making the bakester giggle.
“It’s alright Prince, I will see you on your coronation,” (y/n) smiled, “head back we will meet again soon, My Prince.”
Everyone called Jaemin, my Prince which did not affect him because after all there was nothing really special besides stating his royal status, but coming from the bakester it gave him a different type of emotion, he felt his heart race faster than the speed of light. What was this? Why was he feeling warmth in the pit of his stomach? It wasn't anything new but why was he feeling like this? He seriously threw himself into a deep rabbit hole he wasn’t sure how to get out of - not that he wanted to any time soon.
The moment seemed to pass by so fast, next thing the Prince knew he was sitting back up on his horse and waved the bakester goodbye. He felt a sadness to be leaving - wanting to spend more time with his new acquaintance. The two waved their goodbyes and head off to work once again, both full of excitement for the week to come. They both just wanted to know one another more than an acquaintance, possibly even more than a friend if it seemed to work out to be more than infatuation. The future holds it’s events soon to be revealed, for the better or worse. For now, let me just stop this here and not get too ahead of myself but is it truly possible for a bakester and a royal Prince soon appointed King to be together? Or will it crumble like poorly constructed castle walls into nothing but dirt? Fate is truly remarkable in its phenomenal ways to bring two souls together.
Two (2) Days Before The Coronation
Afterwards, the days seemed to cease quickly coming near the coronation day. Prince Jaemin was filled with anticipation, attending to his daily duties to allow the clock to tick so he could finally see her again. Finishing off his task to try on his coronation attire he sat in his room at his study desk, journal open to distract himself and write out his thoughts about his day, his feelings, (y/n)... anything he could to keep his sanity in place for the last two days. He began to scribble down words until a knock on the door was heard.
“Come in!” Jaemin closed his book placing his pen on top.
“Dear Prince, your mother is calling you down company has arrived.” Suho bowed.
“Company?” Jaemin said puzzled. “No one is supposed to be visiting? Uncle and aunt will be returning tomorrow night, may I ask who?”
“That my Prince you will not be content about,” Suho sighed. “without implying any jest she is definitely one heck of a demon, a brute I tell you! A brute!” he whisper-shouted the last line. Realization hit Jaemin instantly at the word claiming a demon, the demon.
Oh God not her, please not her. Jaemin’s thoughts distraught. He walked downstairs leading to the throne hall eyes closed mumbling a prayer. Finally reaching the last step, taking in a deep breath he opened his eyes and there she stood, the devil herself.
“ Prince Jaemin my sweet, sweet love here you are! I’ve been waiting for you!” She gave a smile arms open wide for a hug.
Everyone’s heard of a wicked Queen, a wicked witch, but she is neither Queen nor witch, she’s a Princess and she is past the explanation of wicked, she is vile and loathsome to all she meets, except for of course the Kings and Queens. If the riches were to ever figure out her true colours she would be a dishonour to her family, unworthy to be a Princess or the kingdom’s darling. She is full of everything from wealth, looks and jewels, except a pure heart - the greatest jewel of all. A nightmare dressed as a daydream, Ivy Noir - a name fitting for one who talks with venom and blackness.
“Ivy,” Jaemin said avoiding her hug. “It’s been 4 months, what brings you to my castle.” Seriously why the hell is she here? She hates my guts and I hate her, it’s mutual so what’s so important? Jaemin furrowed his eyebrows.
“Son, she’s here because I invited her.” The Queen trailed off, Jaemin raised his eyebrows. “I invited her because you are to marry her after you’re appointed King.”
“WHAT” Jaemin let out a shout. “I AM TO WHAT MOTHER?”
“Marry me, Jaemin.” Ivy flashed a devilish smile. “We can be together, rule our kingdoms for the better.”
“No, no way in hell am I marrying this...” Jaemin took in a deep breath pointing at Ivy. “THIS WENCH”
“JAEMIN-”
“NO MOTHER, THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS, YOU CAN NOT EXPECT ME TO MARRY A WENCH, A WITCH LIKE HER. SHE WILL RUIN US, THIS KINGDOM, ME.” Jaemin plead.
“I’m sorry, son but it’s been settled we are to announce your engagement at the coronation.” The Queen hung her head. “It’ll be better for all of us.”
“No mother, you’re making a big mistake. Please allow me another girl, I take interest in another.” Jaemin looked at his mom with apologetic eyes. “I do everything for you, you must allow me this choice.”
“Another girl?” Ivy and the Queen gasped.
“Who is she?” his mother questioned.
“This girl I met a couple days ago, she’s kind, gentle, beautiful-”
“Beautiful?” Ivy scoffed, Jaemin glared at her. “No one can compare to my beauty, she can’t be at all gorgeous if you take such interest in her and not me. It surely is a pity.”
“You’re beauty consists of nothing but makeup, and if I wished I could wipe it off anytime, wench,” Jaemin growled.
“SON PLEASE, you do not talk to a woman like that.”
“A woman? She is nothing near a woman, she is just a witch and nothing more.” Jaemin said irritated.
“Who is this girl you’re fond of, son?” The Queen put her lips in a tight line, anticipating an answer. Taking a deep breath Jaemin answered,
“A baker.”
his mother looked at him perplexed, “a commoner?”
“correction, a peasant. HA!” Ivy snickered. “I should’ve known you always had low-expectations but I really expected better from you. To have a peasant as a Queen would be a disgrace.”
“To have you as my Queen, I would never be able to show my face again,” Jaemin said in annoyance. “This kingdom deserves someone who will treat the villagers right, someone kind, intelligent, and not the spawn of Satan!”
“Jaemin that’s-”
“No mother, please just hear me out, think this over and I beg of you to not allow this marriage to proceed. Allow me a chance with that baker, I promise you she will not disappoint you.”  Jaemin implored his mother to change her mind.
“Head up to your room, I will speak to you later.” The Queen shooed Jaemin off.
“Mother-”
“NO Jaemin, you do as I say, now go up to your room.” His mother said sternly.
“You’re the worst.” Tears filled Jaemin’s eyes, shifting his tearful gaze over to Ivy.
“And you’re a bitch.” He dashed up to his room his lip quivering.
For fear that Prince Jaemin would not be able to be with the baker, he wrapped himself in his blanket and let out silent sobs. He did not wish to be with Ivy, she was an obnoxious princess rotten into the deepest parts of her heart. No one ever dared to call her out on it, she had power, wealth with control over villagers and royal families. She was spoiled and no doubt a bitch. Prince Jaemin noticed his brooch on his side drawer taking a hold of it, bringing it close to his heart.
“(y/n) I promise you, I will make sure to make you mine no matter who or what comes in my way, just please believe me and do not leave, I’ve barely known you but my heart yearns for you. This is more than an infatuation for me, please, just please reciprocate your feelings for me, it’s all I wish, my only wish.” His voice broke, letting out more tears eventually bawling like a child when having its toy taken away. He took in shaky breaths, crying so hard he had wet cheeks and puffy eyes. All he wished was for love, would he get this taken away from him too, just like he had his freedom and decisions taken? He couldn’t lose this, he couldn’t bear himself losing her, his heart felt a sting as if a blade cutting deep into his chest.
He wiped his tears, letting out soft whimpers while holding tighter onto the blankets crying to sleep.
“Just one happily ever after, please.” He said weakly.
Coronation Day
At last the day Prince Jaemin awaited arrived, the day of his coronation. This was the day everything changed for him, he is King the kingdom now belongs to him, he’s finally able to meet the bakester, (y/n) and spend time with her, pour his heart out soon - only one problem stood for him, he was to marry Ivy a princess who had no intentions to be with him, but only cared for more money and to achieve that she would do anything to the extent of marrying him even if it was against his will, she would destroy him if she had to and that is exactly what she planned. And the fact that (y/n) had not arrived at his coronation yet brought him into a clutter of emotions involving anticipation, worry and dismay.
There he stood in the entrance of the ballroom, eyes scanning around in search of the bakester. Unmeaningful smiles and thank you’s to those who congratulated him on becoming King. The ceremony to declare him King reached an end after placing the crown on his head followed by the after party. He walked through the crowd to his mother who stood at the end of the room beside her he spoke,
“Mother...”
“Has that girl not turned up yet.” The Queen looked down at the ground.
“No she has not,” Jaemin said soft-spoken. “But she will, I have hope mother.”
“You know you will still be married to Ivy, son.”
“I know mother, but you must at least tell me why all of a sudden?” Jaemin turned to her with wide eyes.
The Queen sighed. “Your father planned it out, we’re being financially supported by her family Jaemin - we don’t have much money to support ourselves let alone the Kingdom.”
“Mother I-“
“If you don’t wish to marry her I won’t stop you, but then it is up to you to keep this Kingdom running, my job is finished and yours has begun. Choose wisely, son.” His mother gave a weak smile.
“You’ll allow me to marry the baker?” Jaemin said hopefully.
“Yes, as long as you can guarantee you will keep this Kingdom running in your hands.” The mother nodded.
“I shall, I won’t be one to disappoint you, mother.” Jaemin flashed a bright smile giving his mother a hug, pulling her into his chest and whispering his I’m sorry’s and forgive me’s.
Prince Jaemin awaited the baker’s arrival, the party almost finished in an hour he stood outside the ballroom doors. Looking at the clock his foot tapped the ground and he chewed his bottom lip of nervousness. At this point, he was a wreck. Was she going to come? Did she forget? No, she wouldn’t forget, she promised. All the other merchants, commoners and serfs arrived so where was she?
Taking in a deep breath his head hung low, turning back around beginning to walk into the party which at this point he loathed, the only reason he looked forward to it was for the one who did not come.
“Prince!” He heard a familiar voice, he shot his head around for he knew exactly who it was.
“y/n!” Jaemin felt euphoric. She finally made it and she looked gorgeous. Her hair was put down, she wore a simple yet stunning gown which hugged her figure perfectly. The Prince was once again astonished at her beauty, he wanted to kiss her, hold her tight in his arms, tell her how much he’d wished to spend as much of his life with her - and that was exactly what he was going to do.
y/n apologized for her absence during the ceremony and the dance, getting caught up in cleaning the bakery she’d almost let it slip by. Rambling on Prince Jaemin assured her it was okay, and all he wanted, for now, was the dance she’d promised him. Putting out his hand for her to hold she blushed and wrapped her hand around his. He led her into the centre of the ballroom and lay his hands on her waist, along with her hands on his shoulders. The two let out a fit of giggles as they slowly began to rock back and forth. Prince Jaemin shifted his gaze from the floor onto her face, he scanned her features taking them in - eyes, lips, nose, skin, as perfect as can be body - to her she seemed faulty all her blemishes made her conscious but to him, she was the epitome of perfect.
She stared into his chestnut coloured eyes as he looked into hers. Making eye contact Prince Jaemin felt his heart dance of joy, and this time so did she. She felt like a million butterflies in her stomach, her heart felt like it was glowing of warmth, melting with tenderness and full of endearment for The Prince. In all her life never did she expect for a Prince, the Prince to pay heed to her.
The Prince pulled her closer to him, closing the space separating them. Their faces heated up flustered, as the two began to lean in lips getting closer barely an inch apart. As their lips were about to connect y/n was pulled away another taking her place in Jaemin’s arms. The two in a state of confusion and the Prince in unease at the one who stood in front of him.
“Ivy…” he immediately let go of her, hands put at his side.
“Oh my Prince,” Ivy laughed. “What are you doing here we must be preparing.”
“What are you talking about Ivy?” Jaemin said with furrowed eyebrows.
“Oh don’t you remember?” Ivy gave an evil smirk.
“Remember what, Prince?” Y/N asked in confusion.
“Y/N I promise she’s just-“
“Prince Jaemin and I are to be married. He’s my fiancée.” Ivy flashed a wicked smile. “What are you doing with a peasant, fiancée.”
And there it was, the word which would ruin it all for the Prince, fiancée. Ivy had ruined them. The baker felt a lump in her throat causing her to choke.
“You’ve lied!” She cried.
“No y/n listen-“ as Jaemin pushed Ivy aside he reached for y/n but she jolted away.
“No no! Don’t touch me!” She put a hand over her heart, clenching her chest from the pain she felt. “Please, I’m sorry I have to go.” And so, she ran off. She had not the slightest idea where she was heading, she just wanted to disappear, run away from her betrayal from Prince Jaemin. She began to weep and sob running out the castle doors to the gardens. Her heart ached, it felt like a pain greater than a knife stabbing into her repeatedly. She never felt such pain, and she didn’t want to feel not one bit. Why was she feeling it? Why was she so in love with someone she’d just met? Someone of a higher social standard than she’d ever be at? She should’ve known her doubts were true, it wouldn’t have worked out-royalty with someone who’s a peasant, what a joke. She believed in fairytales and love but at this point was it what she thought it was? Was this really the love she wanted? She’d never loved anyone, and when she did she did not expect it to end like this.
Eventually, her legs gave out on her, she yelped, closing her eyes expecting to make contact with the ground - instead feeling an arm wrap around her waist to catch her fall, she was pulled back into a chest. Another arm wrapped around her caging her into a hug. She began to weep once more,
“Why, why would you lie to me.” Y/N whimpered.
“I didn’t lie to you, I promise.” Jaemin shook his head. He gently placed a hand on her cheek tilting her head up to look at him. “ she lied, all she wants is to ruin me and my family, she wants this Kingdom in her possession and more wealth. Yes, I was told I’m to marry her, but I declined.”
“Why would you?” She looked at him with puffy eyes.
“I may be the King, but my heart wishes to be with you, I’d rather run that bakery with you than be of royalty.” She searched his face for any trace of lies, sighing.
“ I’m just a commoner who owns a bakery, there’s nothing special about me.”
“ yes, there is. You’re a commoner who owns a bakery and my heart.” He gave her a sincere smile. “I may be a hopeless romantic to fall for someone on first sight, but I have no doubt in my mind that this is not a mistake, you have my heart and I trust you.”
“Will we ever work? Is it possible?” She gave Jaemin a worried look.
“We can try, you never know what the future may hold.” He held her chin between his thumb and index finger, pulling her face closer to him noses lightly brushed against each other. “Take this,” Jaemin said as he took out the brooch from his pocket, placing it in her hands. “It's for you, keep it as a reminder of my promise that we will try no matter how hard.”
“I trust you, My Prince. We’ll make this work.” Y/N gave a bright smile letting out a giggle. The Prince wiped her wet cheeks with his thumb finally connecting their lips. Giving her a sweet, loving kiss he cupped her face in his hands as she placed her hands on his shoulders returning the kiss with tenderness. Thus the two kissed under the shimmering moonlight, exchanging words of I love you’s.
Two Years Later
“I do.” Those were the two simple words that made their forever, forever.
In short, despite the fights and disagreements throughout time Prince Jaemin never doubted once falling for the baker, now his Queen. It’s safe to say the lovers surely ended up with their happily ever after.
