Okay so I’m going absolutely crazy trying to find this fic that I think was deleted. It’s from fallout 4 and is Paladin Danse and female sole survivor. I remember it being a large fic either part of a series or just huge in general but I’m pretty sure it was a series. The story I believe starts with sole in the institute and she’s not actually Shaun’s mother. She’s a pre war genetic experiment. I know they go to the one place in the glowing sea where you get the mini nukes for liberty prime and she discovers more about herself. Charon is there and so is the lone wanderer if I’m remembering correctly. I know the series ends out with them like super in the future and Danse has died from either a brain aneurysm or a heart attack. If anyone has a link to the author or the name of this fic it would be super appreciated!

Something Above (At The Precipice Of Something New Chapter XXVII)
Nora and Nick begin trying to figure out how to get into the Glowing Sea and back alive? Maxson and Danse discuss potential plans for bringing Dr. Madison Li back into the Brotherhood? Cait and Rowdy perk up the increasingly strained Nora? MacCready and Duncan fluff with MacCready and Annette opening up to each other a little more? Dr. Madison Li and Dr. Allison Filmore learn about the survival of Mass Fusion's experimental reactor and its beryllium agitator?
Every action in this world will bear a consequence. Read it on AO3, ff.net, and/or wattpad!!!

Two separated ways - Arthur Maxson x Female Sole Survivor x Paladin Danse Fallout 4 Fanfic
This fic sets in a universe where Blind Betrayal never took place and Nora destroyed the institute with the Brotherhood of Steel. I don’t know if im going to make a new story of this couples, like Arthur x Nora, Danse x Arthur, Danse x Nora since I already finished playing Fallout 4 and I am playing the 3 one and at some time I gotta go the obsession but I feel like writing things differents from Follow me inside the wastelands
If you are very very very delighted with one fic and want a continuation I didn’t write or post you can donate me at least $5 bucks, most of this fics have next chapters I don’t finish because lack of motivation but hey a $5 is a $5, I see a few reviews and coments that fics that are abandoned months laters receive coments of wanting to know what happends next. Here it is, I finished my handling with you all, enjoy the fic
-Ah Paladin Danse, what do I own the pleasure of this call?
For Danse it was difficult to talk to the elder of the commonwealth chapter since “that” happened…but at least his old friend was slowly taking it better and better, the young man was mature and reasonable, the resentment weren’t directed towards him at least…well…a bit…more than a bit…it was understandable since well…
-Nothing new to report about our job in Washington but…Arthur we need to talk –the elder open up his eyes stopping the hand that he had on the needle where he was mending one of his little daughter's shirts
-You mean Elder Arthur or Arthur Arthur? –it was so strange hearing him talking like that. When they meet even when he was only a teenager he wouldn’t talk like that at all, groomed into being a leader to carry the lastname Maxson really build his character like a really serious young man but after officially started dating Nora he change…a lot…and became a totally different person, love change him a lot, now at his 29 he was a totally different person that the 21 when he arrived the Commonwealth for the first time. And after “that” happened he loose himself even more, thinking that for what? What does everything matter? Why bother at all? All that work for nothing! Being the most powerful man didn’t save him at all.
-Arthur Arthur…sir… -heard Danse at the other side of the call and chuckled.
-What is it? –ask the elder, still mending the tshirt, oh he didn’t want anyone else doing this little jobs over his daughter clothes, everybody does it wrong except him! Nora taught him how and…didn’t see anyone else doing it so perfectly like she did.
-There’s a subject I want you to discuss with the sentinel –ohnononononono
-Didn’t expect you to surrender so soon –what? Oh nonono.
-Nothing about that, look since we arrived here on Washington  for our mission she is…
-I just don’t see why you cant solve it by your own, after all you are the new boy –offensive cluck
-You live here for a long time and she needs…
-You live there even more than me, beyond me even! –why they were talking about her? After all the pain and discussions for him to still have to stay after her ass
-Yeah but…
-Then that’s it! You don’t need me at all, deal yourself with the sentinel and whatever bullshit cross her mind this time –Arthur didn’t want to have anything to do with the mother of his two children.
-Look I know you are still resentful –the elder bite his tongue.
-With her for dumping me for my best friend when I send both on a mission to Washington? Nah, who do you think I am? –lets send my best paladin to protect my wife in a land she doesn’t know in the present wastelands, it would be fun they said, she wouldn’t cheat on me, they said…
Silence again, until he heard a breath and the paladin keep talking- but maybe you are more wise in this subject than me
-What subject? –oh talking or even giving some kind of entity to this subject make his mouth sour
-She is severely depressed, at first I thought it was just nostalgia but months keep passing and she is very frustrated and disappointed about the state of Washington
-I don’t get it
-She came with her ex husband Nate for vacations here once and now everything…makes her sad –oh now he understand- the state of the buildings, the new streets and ways to move, the demolished places, the trash, smell, the odor
-You mean nostalgic and depressed like the thing she has with the food doesn’t? –traumas, that was all traumas, psychological scars
-Yeah but here is with all the environment.
-Its understandable, after all there isn’t a fucking nice place in Washington, it’s a shithole, is far much worse than Boston, the commonwealth is such a luxury in comparison
-That aint helping man
-Well im not going to terraform the damn city –a sight at the other side of the call- what do you want me to do?
-Talk to her
-The state of Washington also depress me –this was stupid
-This is serious Arthur, she is severely depressed and this place isn’t helping her either
-Well im happy I was not the problem in the end, and I see  you aren’t the solution either –silence on the other side of the line.
Their second son together left her with a serious post partum depression. So in order to help his wife he send her to the Capital wasteland, have some adventures, fun, enjoy travelling to new places, kick some buts, don’t let the routine of being parents of a 3 year old and a newborn stop you from being the kickass woman I fall in love. Too bad he didn’t tell her nothing about don’t smashing his best friend, the friend he sent to protect her, his bad, he should warn her about that right?
-You have a good life in this city, talk to her
What the fuck? –whaaaaat? Since when do I had a good life in the citadel? –jaja what? Oh gosh people had the most stupid ideas.
-Better than mine for sure, she just needs a boost of confidence and I cant give the example in this area
-I had two complete meals a day, that’s far from a good life –not to mention they were feeding him like a pig so he wouldn’t famish and die with the Maxson line with him. If he gain a thing from being Noras husband for 5 years together was standards, and he understand that the life on the Wastelands was shit.
-Again, im not playing, she needs more positivity and…
-Well im not moving you both out the city because she cant face the reality and stop daydreaming –yeah being cheated on was shitty but damn it's good that he missed the obligation of having Nora by his side, over time he understood that by getting married he had bought himself a bag of unresolved problems that were very difficult to handle even for him.
-Of course not, our mission is going just fine –yeah the mission of banging his wife maybe- we are progressing with the task the elder here is giving us, she neither wants to leave this city but…its harming her –it was true, he was receiving request of that elder to even promote Danse but god damn he wouldn’t be promoting a wife thief
-The landscapes harm her –Arthur clarified. Sitting better on his chair, leaving the needle on the table.
-Yeah, about the daydreaming…-oh not again.
-Let me guess, she is on chems again –he sighted, the only way to keeping her away from chems  was  to put a baby on her uterus, it worked with Arya and the lactancy time, and then with Shaun and the lactancy until he fucking send her to capital wasteland like it was a good idea. Stupid idea.
-Mentats, and im not her commanding officer anymore to even correct –he was interrupted.
-Oh nono now you are her daddy –he laughed, bitterly, biting on his lower lip, gosh talking about this fills him with anger!- I get it, I was her daddy too
-Arthur…-he heard at the other line a tired voice.
-Im not going to make you elder so you can be on top and place a corrective, she is a sentinel –he had so much anger accumulated on his chest, like when you are really really upset and your whole body feels infuriated!
-That’s why Im asking you to talk to her…elder…-Maxson sighted.
-Its it serious like she would…-he whistle twice- at the roof of a building?
Silence, again, he raise up his head to look at the terminal, now worried.
-Maybe, if it gets worse -maybe letting his ex-still-wife kill herself was not a good idea, she was a good sentinel and a soldier who achieved very good results-Im sorry about everything Arthur-and you fuck my wife anyway, what a good friend he thought in the insides, taking his time to process everything- but do this at least because she is the mom of your two children
-She should think on that two years ago, almost abandoning them –funny, she left to Washington when Shaun was like 8 months or something, he surely doesn’t remember her, didn’t see her since then.
-Im sure Arya is not going to be happy if something occurs to her mother –yeah, even if at her 5 years she ask about Nora a lot, misses her.
-You know? I already got what is more valuable from her, our Maxson not radiated offspring, the only reason I didn’t sent an assassin after your butt is because your shrimps are dead –they were still married together, no one is going to dare to make gossip about the elder Maxson being a cuckhold or the sentinel having an affair, plus it gives him high status being married with a sentinel…and a prewar woman- and you cant knock her.
He said that words with hate. It really hurt him to the core the fact that his best friend Danse do that to him.
-Try to give her a call, tell her that life here is not-interupted him again, bullshit, all bullshit.
-There’s no life there Danse, there’s no green even, how can I lie myself to lie to her? –it was true, capital wasteland was a shithole, an horrible place, arriving to the commonwealth was like escaping from there and its horrors, the green and the land were such a change for elder Maxson.
-Well I don’t know what else to do! –the man raised his voice in the call, he heard a bit of desperation on it- I don’t wanna loose her! –he stay in silence- maybe you don’t care anymore and I get it! But I love her! And I don’t know what to do!
He cares, deep down below all the feelings of betrayal and abandonment he cares, for the woman he falled deeply in love once.
-What do you expect me to tell her? –said the defeated elder, maybe, if he keeps caring by then, she can come back to him, but if she is dead…there will be no way to be together again…less as a family…
-I don’t know…-from the tone of his voice he really was…desperate, lost, he really used his last plan talking to him- maybe tell her that life is beautiful? –Arthur laugh, it was audible in the call- You know her better
-But you know her the longest –from initiate to Sentinel at the paladin side, until both sentinel and elder got into a relationship, fraternizing with a soldier.
-Its not working on me –now, the man was crying even if he cant see his tears, Arthur hold his chin on his hands, shutting his lids- love is not saving her on this.
The elder stood in silence, and breathe out –You know this about her…since the beginning
-I know –voice cracked at the other side of the line.
-I learned over time how to deal with that and move forward in our relationship, get through each day, try to make a future for ourselves, it didn't work for me, as you know –in any fucking chance he would have to spit in the face his betrayal to him he will do it- but It was never easy, or less painful, no matter the day
-Yeah
-And its only going to get worse, maybe you aren’t prepared to it, like I wasn’t
-You didn’t send her away because you can’t deal with it –then whyyyyy? If Danse gets it why did he fuck his wife? Arthur cover his face with his palms and breathe.
-Even after everything that happened I know I avoided an obstacle, a hard one, for the rest of my life –the image of Nora jumping off a building cross his mind, he open his eyes to avoid having images- but you are right. Arya will be sad, ill talk to Nora, put a call on her agenda, make sure she see it and…answer the call.
Both stay in silence, until Danse speak with the voice still broken.
-Thank you elder, that will be all
Arthur stood in silence too, eyes getting lost on the terminal.
-Crush some addictol and mix it with her food, look at her eating so she will finish the plate, Mentats doesn’t have secondary effects with other chems so don’t worry-he had the experience with this- you are discharged Paladin.
Both hang up on the call.

she is done
The Candles and the Moon is now complete in first draft form, all 26 chapters of it. I did do a little cry when I was finished. It was a whole lot of work but I’m happy to have done it.
I just wrote a whole goddamn book. Dam.

Formal Affairs (Maxson x f!Sole): Chapter XX-  Misfortune forged the brave
Previous chapter
Overview of chapters before that one On a sidenote: from now on: (*) = start of actual sex scene and (**) = end of sex scene  A/N: I’m back! Exams are over, now here is an extra long chapter to make up for the long wait. This will once more be updated bi-weekly (at the very least, probably every sunday for the next few weeks). Another ask will be up tomorrow! Also been wondering if anyone wants me to link a few songs I listen to when writing a particular chapter, cause ya know. They can be inspiring. (Especially for sex and fight scenes. *ahum*)
Where we left off (recap): Alice and Ryon, Maxson’s former girlfriend and his former best friend, visited Maxson and  Sole after apprehending those involved in the complot against the Sentinel’s life. Sole attempts to find out what other reason they had to visit them in person, as they seem a little too concerned with who overhears them talking and she is not invited. Alice proposes to have dinner with her and urges her not to allow Maxson to drive her away from him if Sole loves him. This triggers a very painful realisation from Sole, who intends to speak to the Elder about it instantly, especially as it threatens to distract her in their next big battle.  “Now; can you tell me where exactly Maxson is right now?” -------------------- Chapter XX-  Misfortune forged the brave  -------------------- As soon as Alice had told Sole where Maxson and Ryon were having their dinner, Sole stomped away ignoring anything and anyone else on the ship. She vaguely heard rain on metal and noticed some people stopping in their tracks abruptly in order not to cross her path. When she reached the door, Sole heard Maxson laughing. She stopped for a second, inhaled and exhaled deeply and then waved her hand dismissively at the guards. They stepped aside as she pushed open the heavy metal door.
The laughing subsided when Ryon and Maxson saw her standing in the doorway. Alice had caught up with her and put a hand on her arm, looking concerned. Ryon shot a worried glance at Alice, who just shook her head. “ This has nothing to do with me Ryon.” Maxson put his glass on the table and got up from his seat. “Sentinel, what is going on?” He looked stern, not worried. As if he expected that he’d have to rush into battle at any moment. Not that anything was truly wrong with her. He was still just keeping up the ruse of them having broken up. He had no clue something was actually wrong. Alice noticed Sole’s breathing was more ragged than usual before he did. A few tears had trailed down her cheeks but she did not look distraught, just determined. She didn’t break eye contact with Maxson, clearly waiting for something. Alice was the first to get the hint. “We’ll leave you alone for a few hours.”  As Ryon got up and kissed the top of Alice’s head, Sole still hadn’t said a word. The tension between her and Maxson could be cut by a knife.   Alice shot another glance at Maxson before leaving. “Maxson, tell her.”
As soon as the door closed Maxson’s gaze met Sole’s again. He looked utterly confused. “Can you perhaps explain to me what the hell is going on?  ”
“ I’m not ready to lose you. “ Her voice wavered and she hated it. He walked closer to her until she held up her hand. “No, I’ll be… I don’t know why I’m like this now just… Alice was talking to me about not giving you up and then she asked me if I loved you.” His arms fell to his sides. “I see. And you realised that you do not after all. “ He stood up straight again, composing himself, but she saw the pain in his eyes. “I understand.”
She closed the small distance between them and shoved his shoulder, barely moving him at all. She hated it when he chose to put on the Elder front when talking to her. “ No jackass, you don’t understand. You don’t understand that I have been fending for myself out there ever since I my husband got shot as he clung to our baby while I was stuck in a goddamn fridge and could do nothing. You don’t understand that I had to give up on my son because he was hellbent on destroying humanity. And sure, I have allies and friends but you…” she exhaled and wiped the hot drops she felt on her face viciously. They weren’t going to help. “ What I’m saying is… I have saved a lot of people. And that matters to me. But the ones I was building my future with, or wanted to… “ Sole shook her head. “ And then I decide to get involved with the goddamn Elder of the Brotherhood of Steel. Everyone either worships you or wants you dead. So what makes those odds of me saving you, huh? How high are the chances I’ll watch you die if you go into that damn mission? Given my track record?“
His face didn’t soften, if anything he looked angry. “ Do you truly believe I am not at the very least equally concerned about losing you? Do you truly believe I approve of having you out there on your own again?! Do you realise that sometimes when you are sleeping in my bed, I run my fingers over your scar, knowing you almost died and I was not capable of stopping it from happening?!” “ I am used to near-death experiences at this point. I’m resilient enough, I can fend for myself. It’s you I’m worried about. How easily you put yourself and your feelings aside for the good of the goddamn Brotherhood.” “ I am protected by this ship, the power armour, soldiers, years and years of training. You stumbled into a life where you have to fight every day to just survive only a few years ago. You are a prodigy, that much is clear, but you are in far more danger than I am, living the way you are!” He seemed to try to calm himself down, looking at her.
“ We both are individuals before we are each other’s lovers. You told me you do not intend to be chained down to this ship. In order not to resent one another with time, we must set our concerns aside. What we have… will never change that we have our personal ideals and duties. “ “I KNOW THAT.” She backed up against a wall and slid down it, leaning her head against it. The cold metal somehow felt soothing. “I just never before imagined what it would be like to have been beside that bed instead of you, afraid of you dying on me. Holding onto your hand and hoping you would feel it and come back to me. I understand why you are suddenly so protective of me and I wish I didn’t.” He sat down beside her. “Did Alice tell you that she told me to come clean to how I feel about you if you woke up again?” Sole shook her head. She felt his hand sliding under hers, intertwining his fingers with hers and squeezing it gently.   “ I love you. But you are a General and I am an Elder. I do not own you and you do not own me.” She rubbed her forehead with the palm of her hand. “ It’s shit, you know? People like us, who never back down, falling in love. If one of us dies that’s just a villain origin story waiting to happen.” “ Based on what I have heard, some would already consider me a villain.” She looked to the side. He was leaning against the wall with the back of his head as well, looking up at the ceiling. His legs were flat on the ground.
He seemed to feel her gaze as he turned to face her. “Sometimes I wonder if I will become one in my own mind as well if I lose you.” Sole shrugged. “I considered you to be one for a while, there’s a lot we still do not talk about. The more I learn about you and the way you think, this is… “ she chuckled “…you changing the topic. No, we’re not having that conversation now. For the record, you’re a goddamn idiot for thinking I don’t love you back. I wouldn’t have taken that shot for anyone else.” He laughed, but without joy. “ You would have. Your lack of survival instincts when someone you feel protective over is concerning.” She opened her mouth to deny that but closed it again. He had a point. “ Maxson, promise me I’m not going to lose you too.” “ I cannot guarantee that. You cannot guarantee me that I will not lose you either.” Sole crawled onto his lap and leaned against his chest. He cradled her in his arms and stood up, carrying her to her room. He took off his shirt and pants, leaving only his underwear on, and got onto the bed as well. He tried to hold on to her again but she shook his arm off and got off the bed. She made sure the door was locked before undressing and getting under the covers, pressing her body against his. She felt his fingers tracing her back, as she listened to his heartbeat. After they both listened to the rain getting worse, based on the sound of water on metal he whispered to her; “But I can guarantee you that if you do lose me, it will not have been by my choice.” “ You still think I’ll leave you.” In spite of there being no light except for that of the moon, she felt his eyes on her. “ We both have a track record. We don’t see eye to eye on everything…” He kept quiet for a few seconds before continuing. “Sometimes I believe it is just a matter of time before you turn your back on me.”
Sole put her hand on his cheek. “ Well, even if you would go all villainous on me, as an ex-superhero…” “ You mean as the Silver Shroud?” Sole’s jaw dropped. “You know about that?” Maxson nodded. “We have radios. And a few fans of your antics.” She sat down on top of him. “Are you one of them?” He looked at her, giving her silhouette a one-over. “Not of those antics. I only truly started to take notice of you when you went up against me.” She laid down on him, chest to chest, and whispered in his ear; “ I fight for what I believe in. Not even you can change that.” She heard a low groan before he flipped her over and she was under him. “ Yes, you did always made that rather clear.” She grinned at how easily she could always anticipate his reaction to her words and actions. Her wrists were pinned under his hands for about a second but he slid them down to her arms, then her breasts, then her waist. He then hovered over her as she tugged at his underwear. He traced kissed up her neck until he reached her ear. He carefully brushed away a strand of hair. “ Are you saying you mind that?” She whispered in a low voice, noticing he cracked a more mischievous smile at those words. He leaned down, whispering to her in the same low voice she had before. “ No. Looking for an equal. Not a lapdog.”
She reached for his head and pulled it down to hers until his lips were on hers and she could slip her tongue in his mouth again. As usual when they kissed like this, it had an effect on her entire body. She felt as if she had just slipped into a hot bath after a long day, and as if all her worries and aches just dissolved upon contact. The way he kissed her was different from any way she had been kissed before. The two of them shared a particular kind of hunger for physical proximity and to just forget the world out there from time to time. An escape from the pressure. As he took off the last bit of fabric still between them, he sat up for a second and she reached for his chest. The moonlight on his skin just making her crave feeling him as close to her as possible more. Somehow the picture in her head never fit exactly how  attractive he looked to her when they were actually about to have sex. That specific certain tension needed to be in the air for her to just lose track of what she was doing and just want his touch and hers on his.
(*)
“Honestly Maxson, how many hearts have you broken before I came along.” As soon as they were both completely naked he leaned down, put his hand on the side of her face and kissed her again. “None that mattered.” She propped herself up on her elbows as he sat up a bit straighter, but lost grip when he pulled her lower on the bed by her waist before leaning his body down against hers again.
As she started to kiss him wherever she could reach, starting with his shoulder and left upper arm, he got in her annoyingly slowly. When she felt he had gotten in as deep as he could she gasped for breath and heard a low moan from him too, before he pulled her up straight, onto his lap while still moving. She wrapped her arms around his neck and moved with him as he put his hand on her back and grabbed her gently by the back of her neck. It turned out to be a position in which he could not move as easily so she kissed him and moved instead, watching him throw back his head with closed eyes and gritted teeth at least once. He seemed to try to focus somehow. So she scraped her nails over his back he pushed her with her back onto the bed again and got in and out of her with the fervour she imagined he’d been holding back when her wound was still healing. She wrapped her legs around him and got him in as deep as she could, grabbing a pillow with one hand and guiding him by putting her hand on the small of his back and indicating the rhythm in doing so with the other. It took a minute after the orgasm washed over her that she could feel he was not really slowing down. He hadn’t come yet. She tried to move with him even more desperately this time, grinding against him while still panting. Somehow he was enough in control to drag it out and whisper in her ear “Not yet… you clearly still want more.” She could feel him moving against her even better now, grabbed his arm and cried out again. He then kissed her full on the lips, rougher and faster than at first, before he got out of her. She pushed him down by shoving both hands against his shoulders and trying to twist them. She was vaguely aware of the fact that that meant he had let her. As she got on top of him , she grabbed his hands and put them on her sides before guiding them upwards. She knew he could see her too now, and traced her own hand up her upper body. She noticed how he followed it with his eyes, swallowed and grabbed her waist, determining the rhythm this time. He lunged his upper body towards her and grabbed her by the back of her head and pulled her down into a kiss again as they both collapsed onto the bed again. He tangled his fingers in her hair. She loved the sound of him also coming, but even more now she had broken a remarkable control he had managed to hold on to. Even more now somehow he had managed to hold it off until she had had two orgasms herself.
She dropped herself beside him, panting as he was. “That was… impressive.”  She kissed his shoulder again. “You could say that. ” She got beside him again. “Is this your way of ensuring I won’t leave you?” “ It is not, though I do admit I would not be disappointed if it is an additional incentive to return to me as soon as possible.”
(**)
She reached for a bottle of purified water beside the bed, got back under the covers and handed the it over to him. He drank at least half of it before he put it down and looked at her face. “ Tired?” She nodded and let him kiss her again, lightly this time. She revelled in his warmth as she had just gotten outside of the bed and realised the room was really cold in comparison. She huddled against him, as he grabbed her closer and she curved against him. “ But seriously… how many hearts did you break?” He shrugged. “Most likely none. I was not the one to break it off with the two women I once saw a future with and the few others weren’t heartbroken. They just wanted a good time and bragging rights. No complaints thus far.” Sole snuggled up closer to him. “None here either.” He kissed the top of her head. “What about you?” She shrugged. “Broke a few maybe. I’m sure they lived to tell the tale. Well… doubt many of them are still around anymore on this day and age. And one before you, definitely still alive and kicking. We’re friends now. Kind of like you and Alice I suppose.” Sole wasn’t certain whether the somewhat disinterested tone of voice was feigned or not when he asked: “Have I had the priviledge of meeting them?” “Maybe you have, maybe you haven’t. Who knows.” “ Did you and Danse…” “ Oh, no. I mean, we’re really close and I’m sort of a physical kinda person but no. No we never went beyond hugs and we’re more like… I don’t know. Siblings? Which is by the by also part of the reason I will leave you if you ever try to harm him again. No matter how good you are in bed… or under the shower.” “ Noted.”
“ By the way…” Sole’s voice trailed off. No way she could make this sound like a throwaway remark. “In case that wasn’t clear yet, as far as I’m concerned we’re exclusive now. I don’t give a damn about how many girls you had shacking up with you before but I’m not too big on you finding someone else to get you off while I’m away. Are we on the same page there or…” He laughed and managed to flip her so she was facing him and pulled her close to him again. So close that she could feel his breath on her lips as he spoke. “Concerned someone will take your place?” She raised an eyebrow, though she wasn’t sure if he could even see it. “Oh no, just don’t wanna come back to the news ‘good news! Got an heir!’ or something like that. I mean, that’d just be more paperwork and drama. And I am not sharing my room with a crying baby that isn’t ours. That one would be all yours.” He was still smiling. “Our medical staff has managed to procure pills to stop that. You have been taking them, I noticed that much.” She started to murmur “Yeahtheyhavebutstilltheyarenot100%failproofandI’dpreferifyou…” before he kissed her to shut her up. “ Sole, I don’t want anyone else. Understood? Any other witty questions?” “ No. You?” She yawned and felt herself dozing off. Maxson supported his head with one hand. “ A few. Do you feel ready to leave tomorrow?” “ Yeah. None of this hurt which means the wound probably doesn’t limit my movement. I have a Knight and medic with me and I am returning to my friends. I’ll be fine. It’s the battle after that concerns me. “ “ Do you want me to call off Knight Rhys?” She sighed. “No. As long as he behaves as he should and follows my orders I don’t expect issues with him. Just make sure everyone here is ready to go when we return with reinforcements. Now, I’d like to sleep, that thing we did kinda took a lot of energy.” She snuggled against his chest. He kissed the top of her head and she was halfway dozing off when he spoke again.
“ One more question… did you accept Alice’s request to become that kid’s godmother?” She suddenly felt wide awake again. “ Wait… what?” “ Nevermind.” “ Alice is pregnant?!” “ I can confirm nor deny that statement, as I believe she might turn homicidal tomorrow if I do.” “ Why is she asking me to be its godmother? Wait, you’re not the father are you?” “ What is it with you asking if I impregnated women?” “ In my defence, if you have now it is relevant. Because then I’d be a stepmother. When you asked me to be your fake-date I’d just get the fun of mocking you for not keeping it in your pants for long enough to check if someone took care of the anti-conceptives.” “ I have not slept with Alice in years, nor do I ever intend to again.” “ Scared of asking her if she ever wants another go cause of Ryon huh?” He kissed her again. “No. Because of you.” “ Yeah, I know I can be scary.” “ If I want anyone to be the mother of my child or children it is you.”
And that is when it dawned on her. How this whole mess-taking-a-180-turn started; “ Actually… you…. Elder…heir. Fuck.”
“ Yes, I am indeed an Elder. I am expected to produce an heir. And that does require fucking. But relax, I would never let anyone pressure you into it. You understand? Not even a council. “ “ What if I’m nèver ready for that again? Or not soon enough? There will come a moment I am just no longer capable of having children. What if I can’t because of the beatings I’ve taken since I’m back out here.” “ I’ll just have to not keep it in my pants with someone who does not believe in anti-conceptives.” She knew he was joking but still did not appreciate it. She tried to move further away from him a little. “Goodnight, Maxson.”
He just laughed and pulled her closer again. She was simply no match for his physical strength. “Sole, we’ll deal with it when the time comes. If we don’t get children of our own that is no deal breaker for me.” She felt his hand reaching for hers, and squeezed it gently. She moved to hold onto him instead. “I’m gonna say yes. I think.” “ To having a baby with me or to Alice’s question?” Sole shrugged; “For now the latter when and if she asks. This might just have been a plan b to get us back together.” “ She is far too pragmatic to use her unborn child in an effort to reunite us. They would only choose godparents they believe are capable of protecting and loving their child. Ryon chose me, because we used to be very close. Alice is actually the one who opted for you.” “ Why?”

Mer-May!
Tumblr media
All right... I caved and jumped on the bandwagon. Happy Mer-May! (Or MerMay, what have you)
Nora Taylor (my FSS), Arthur Maxson, Alexa Howard (my FLW), and Danse (the mermaid-versions, that is) from my fanfic, 'Shadow of Steel'. They all look so happy! 😍❤
Props to the people that DREW their versions - I am nowhere near that talented, lol. Pic made by me (after working for hours to get it JUST right), courtesy of 'Azalea's Dolls' (AWESOME resource!).
If anyone would be curious to see the versions of any of my other characters, just let me know!
(PS: I felt like noting the vault-like colors of my females, as well as the 'BoS orange' flowers in their hair. Now who could have given them those?  😉 )

Serene times - ensemble episodes of love Part I
DISCLAIMER: My first fanfic ! (well actually my second but the first one was only one chapter and about 18 years ago hahaha...9_9;; ) I’m a lonely potato with no friends that can actually proof read this text so I might come back later and edit it from time to time, the second part is in the works :d
I have a plan in the works for a present , past and future on this story, I felt like I needed to write it and felt that tumblr would be a great place to post it I think... anyway, hope that some of you like it , if not that’s ok too... :d -------------------
The day started like any other day in the Prydwen for the Elder.
Early… way too early.
Slowly coming out from his quarters he says His and hellos to the few who finishing or starting their patrolling shifts, idle chat in the cafeteria with the scientists that have been up all night, then doing a tour of each section and talking with the knights and scribes answering their questions, reassuring those who are in their firsts missions in the Commonwealth but also listening to the advice of those who the place had left a mark in their lives since their last visit.
It had been a little over 2 years since Arthur had left Boston but he had to admit that he kinda missed it.
Maybe it was the view from the ship that he got kinda fond of, or the fact that his last mission was (partially) a success, or maybe it was something else...
Someone else.
Going down to the observation deck, he saw a table and some chairs that had been installed, since his first meeting today was going to be pretty long he was glad but already tired by just thinking of his task ahead.
‘’Good morning Elder’’ said a young voice behind him.
Turning around Arthur smiled when he saw the young proctor ‘’Good morning Proctor Haylen’’  tilting his head to greet those coming behind her ‘’General Cade, Kelly, Ingram’’
‘’Good Morning Elder’’ - Kells and Cade almost said in unison.
Ingram tried to reply but failed with what it looked like an small cake in her mouth.
‘’Are we ready to start then?’’ mumbled Proctor Teagan in a tired voice while walking to the room from Arthurs blind side
‘’Yes’’ answered Arthur as he also enters the room and takes his seat at the end of the table ‘’What news from the west?’’
Everyone seated after the Elder, Ingram and Haylen to his right,Teagan and Cade to his left and almost as his equal Kells at the other end of the table.
‘’The team hasn’t arrived yet but we got news from the Citadel, they stayed a couple of nights and are now on route in a vertibird’’ answered Kells
‘’Good, we still have some time but we are not waiting for them’’
‘’Of course’’ Kells paused ‘’The Courier that brought us the message still stationed at the minuteman Castle along with her companion’’
‘’I’ll talk to her, I still believe she’s holding information from us’’
‘’She’s stubborn’’ complained Teagan ‘’I really wonder why we still put up with her’’
Haylen and Ingram snickered.
The meeting went on for an three hours or so without interruption.
Concerns, technical elements and tactics, important but tiring stuff, he was so grateful to have such great brothers and sisters committed to their mission and back with him in the Commonwealth.
‘’Here’s the list of all of our supplied at the moment’’ Cade handed a copy to everyone ‘’and also a list of what will be needed’’
‘’Alright’’Arthurs eyes started to hurt, a headache maybe? He tried to look at the paper, but wasn’t able to concentrate.
As everyone was reading the paper he saw some movement near the stairs that quickly  moved to the wall.
Arthur looked at the door discreetly, while the others talked, trying to get what information he could from the discussion but also trying to see what had made the movement.
A cat? No, it was almost the size of a mole rat…. almost.
Arthur smirked.
He then saw two tiny eyes from the corner, steel-blue, pinky cheeks and short black hair in the air almost floating in the air as if a Brahmin had licked it in the night, his tiny pijamas looked wet from the sweat of his sleep and had a blanket rolled around his hand.
The little boy was looking at him intensely, a bottle of milk in his hand and a pacifier in his mouth.
Arthur looked at him and smiled, he waved his hand under the desk discreetly as if trying not to get caught by the others.
The toddler then ran to him, making small tapping sounds on the metal floor. As everyone turned around to see, he then started to climb on Arthurs combat coat, trying to reach his lap.
Arthur helped him mid-way and seated the baby on him, putting his pacifier away, the toddler already getting comfortable in his arms.
‘’He’s such a daddy's boy’’ Ingram was amused by the display of affection
Arthur just answered her with a proud smile while starting giving the bottle to his son.
‘’I can already hear her mother looking for him’’ Teagan was just looking at the stairs, already waiting for someone to appear out of thin air.
Haylen and Kells only laughed.
‘’Let's continue’’ said Arthur.
Looking at documents while holding his baby was already a skill that he mastered in the last 2 years and a half.
Another 7 minutes pass until the commotion from the main deck started to fill the air.
‘’Told you’’ Teagan smiled
Like a blue thunder, someone jumped from the stairs, quickly turning around and looking at Arthur.
A sigh of relief.
‘’Oh my goodness, I’m so so sorry!’’ she said almost breathless, her black long hair was a complete mess from all the running and climbing she must have done, quickly she approached him, almost running.
‘’I almost sounded the alarm, everyone was looking for him! When did he learned to go down the stairs? I’m so sorry for interrupting your meeting like this’’ She looked at her sleeping son.
Arthur smiled ‘’Don’t worry about it, I think it’s time we have a quick brake anyway’’ he stood up.
‘’Good! My back is killing me!’’ Teagan said stretching in his chair
“Good Morning Sentinel Maxson” said Kells courteously
“Good morning General” she responded while trying to take back her son into her arms.
“Morning Nath!” Haylen stood up to give a hug to her friend ‘’an adventurer already isn’t he?’’
The proud mother responded with a big smile and a cheek kiss to his baby.
With a loud cough the Lancer-Capitan made clear to the young Proctor his disapproval of her familiarity to the Sentinel.
Haylen gave a shy-smile and slowly backed away as if saying sorry(not really)to the Captain and the her friend.
‘’Everyone take an hour and be back in 1030 hours’’ said Arthur to his committee, he then looked at Kells ‘’I’ll be in my quarters with my family if any important matter comes up””
‘’Of course Elder, Ad victoriam’’ The Lancer saluted
‘’Ad victoriam’’ Everyone saluted except the Sentinel that was lost in the face of her sleeping child.
‘’Let’s put him to bed and calm everyone upstairs, knowing his brother he could be in the point of jumping down the ship to look for him’’
“Shaun!”
Arthur chuckled at the sight of his wife and tried to help her go up the ladder.
It was going to be another good day.

[!TRIGGER WARNING!: This installment contains allusions to torture and prolonged, vivid depictions of assault. Stay safe!]
"Call tags?" The scribe droned, not even looking up from the terminal.
Danse only hesitated for a second. "D, N, dash, four zero seven P."
The scribe punched in the letters and numbers, and Danse saw the young man visibly jerk in surprise. Rheumy brown eyes stared up at the towering suit of X-01 armor and the scribe's voice squeaked when he hissed, " Danse? "
  The armored man nodded.
"Are you insane?! Danse--er, Paladin Danse, the elder has been on the warpath ever since you went...sir, he says you're a synth, a traitor to the Brotherhood. You're supposed to be dead! I knew there was something fishy about those reports!" The scribe whispered shakily. He looked incredibly nervous. "Most of us think he's off his rocker, but you try finding a soldier with the balls to tell him that point-blank!"
"It's comforting that you all have such faith in me." Danse said, meaning every word. "I'm afraid the announcement of my death was a bit...premature."
The scribe blinked. "Sir, after everything that...the amount of us that would stand by you through anything is the vast majority, I promise. Elder Maxson has locked up Paladin Brandis and-"
"Tell me he hasn't harmed Brandis." Danse cut him off, relieved when the scribe shook his head hastily.
"I think even the elder knows better than to assault one of the most beloved officers in our chapter." The scribe exhaled a long breath, then looked back up at Danse. "Sir, you should know that...well, it may be a bit disappointing to hear, but even if you are a synth, we're still with you, sir." The scribe gave him a salute.
Danse's eyes pricked with tears. He couldn't believe that he had the power to inspire such unwavering loyalty. "At ease, soldier. With any luck, this will be a diplomatic engagement. I'll take Knight Vega and be on my way."
"I...I am unsure if it will be so simple." The scribe admitted. "Ex-Knight Vega has also been confined to the brig since you went AWOL."
  " Ex -knight?"
"Maxson stripped of her rank, sir. Accused her of conspiring against the Brotherhood. On her end, she maintains her innocence." The scribe shrugged. "I don't understand why he doesn't just exile her or have her stand trial, but he's been dragging his feet the whole-"
" Bait ." Danse realized. "He's been waiting for me to come back for her, of course . She's our only way into the Institute. Either that or he just wants the satisfaction of killing me himself." He moved past the checkpoint without another word, leaving the scribe to sputter. Danse hoped he wasn't being too self-absorbed when he surmised that the report of his 'death' was no doubt being utilized as a thumbscrew on Elizabeth. Maxson obviously needed a confession; hell, he might even suspect Vega of being the one that tipped Danse off in the first place.
No one paid him much mind as he strode across the compound. Though he did intercept a few curious glances, Danse chalked them up to the distinctive armor he was wearing instead of outright suspicion.
"Where is the elder?" He gruffed at a crowd of aspirants, counting on the staticky speakers of his helmet to disguise his voice. One of them grimaced.
"In a mood." She joked, the group of aspirants nodding and laughing amongst themselves. "But if you mean location, he's been hanging around the build site a lot. Watching the progress on Big Lib, you know."
Danse inclined his head and turned on his heel, making a beeline for the previously-mentioned location while he guiltily recalled the time that he had threatened Vega with an upbraiding for her own quips about Maxson. As he thundered back across the courtyard, he could hear the muttering start up. People were beginning to notice him. His window of opportunity was shrinking; he needed to find Maxson fast . Danse picked up his pace, half-jogging.
Catching sight of Maxson at the very top of Prime's gantry made Danse feel minute, an insignificant David at the feet of a giant. He swallowed hard, shaking off the unsettling sensation and cueing up his helmet's speakers.
At the whine of feedback, Ingram glanced up from her console beneath the shelter across the dusty tarmac. "Hey!" She said sharply. "Whoever you are, you don't have clearance to-"
" Elder Maxson! " Danse roared, ignoring the red-headed proctor in favor of tilting his whole body back to project his voice upwards. " You know why I'm here! "
" Abomination! " Maxson shouted, sounding almost gleeful . He bolted for the lift, as if he expected Danse to flee. The paladin stood his ground though, patiently waiting for the elder to arrive at the lower level.
"Danse? You…" Ingram trailed off, scrambling across the square. "Is it really you in there, Danse?"
  "Yes, Proctor."
There was so much more he wanted to say, so much more to explain , but Maxson's arrival on the ground effectively cut off Danse's conversation. "I knew you would return, you traitor ." He asserted smugly as he marched over to Danse. "How kind of you to give me the privilege of ending you myself ."
Danse held up his hands peaceably. "I am unarmed, Maxson. I'm not here for a fight. I am simply here to request the amicable release of...of General Vega." He used the Minutemen title on a whim, watching Arthur's nostrils flare in irritation.
"Oh General Vega , is it? The Minutemen send a machine to do their dirty work? Or have you already infiltrated their ranks with more of your kind?" Maxson spat.
Danse shook his head. "This may come as a shock to you, Elder Maxson, but I had no idea I was a synth." He heard Ingram gasp behind him. Even Maxson looked momentarily startled at his admission and Danse seized the opening to reason, "through the entirety of my career I've done nothing to betray your trust, Arthur. And I never will. Please," Danse implored, "we need General Vega if we hope to eradicate the Institute."
"You expect me to believe that you wish to eradicate the Institute? You were born of it!" Arthur spat venomously. "You even standing here is an affront to nature, you scum . The Brotherhood does not negotiate with-"
"Elder Maxson, wait!" Ingram interrupted him sharply. "He's telling the truth. Vega is instrumental to gaining entry to the Institute. Our whole reason for being in the Commonwealth is to destroy the Institute. If we lose this chance-"
"I will not be spoken down to by my own troops, Proctor!" Maxson raged.
"Arthur, listen to me . You and Danse having a pissing match should be the least of our concerns." Ingram raised an eyebrow. "If he meant us harm, I feel like he would have come with a battalion or two. Danse might be a little dense , but he's never lacked battlefield intelligence."
"This thing isn't Danse, so stop referring to it as such!"
"Until proven otherwise, yes, he is . His DNA matched that Institute crap. It's him, Maxson. It's always been him. Sure, you might find it easier to think that the Institute grabbed the real Danse while he was out and about, but I don't think he would be reported as a missing asset if he was supposed to be here." Proctor Ingram theorized as she crossed her arms, her armor frame creaking.
"Just give me Elizabeth, Maxson." Danse pleaded. "This isn't a fight you want."
"Oh, on the contrary. This is the fight I want." Maxson seethed. "A chance to prove Brotherhood superiority once and for all! We will settle this as it is written in the Litany!"
"You sincerely wish to have a live-fire trial?" Danse asked incredulously, "a Litany trial, Arthur? As I recall, you stated before that you were above such practices."
"We live in unprecedented times, traitor." Maxson drew himself up to his full height. "My authority has been brought into question again and again. It seems only right that I battle my chief dissenter."
Danse was at a loss for words. Maxson's behavior was so irrational, he was almost tempted to consider whether the elder himself had been replaced by a synth. But no, voicing that fear would no doubt send Maxson into an even worse froth.
"When I defeat you, it will finally affirm the truth of the Brotherhood: that we were meant to stand tall atop the corpses of abominations, meant to triumph! " Maxson's eyes were wild as he turned to Ingram. "Proctor, you will bear witness to our Litany agreement. And now, abomination , issue your challenge." The elder demanded.
  "Arthur-"
" Issue it or be slagged where you stand! " Maxson screamed, spittle flying from his mouth.
Danse had never personally engaged in a Litany trial. His memory of the terminology was hazy at best, but he still made an attempt. "As a Brotherhood of Steel paladin," he began haltingly, saluting and then extending his hand to Maxson. "I am issuing a formal challenge against your authority as elder of this chapter. Through your actions and your deeds, you have proved yourself unfit to lead in my eyes. We will engage in combat under your terms, and should I emerge victorious, I ask that you relinquish General Vega to me."
"And when I emerge victorious, I will kill you." Maxson stated confidently.
"So be it." Danse knew he had very little agency in this matter. Maxson wanted to fight him, and Maxson always got his way. "Your terms, Elder?"
"No weapons or armor. We fight with nothing but the skills we possess. The first one pushed out of the circle loses." Maxson smirked. "You might be a synth, but a bullet in your head puts you down just as easily as any feral."
"You give me your word as Elder that you will turn Vega over to the custody of the Minutemen if I win?" Danse insisted, his heart slamming in his chest. Oh God, he would have to fight Maxson. Worse still, he would have to beat him. Arthur's prowess in combat was almost fabled , that story about the deathclaw part of this chapter's mythos.
"I will give you nothing, creature , and it will be far more than you deserve. But certainly, if you manage to beat me, I'll see to it that your co-conspirator is relinquished to your care." Maxson sneered. "Proctor, send out the announcement that we will have entertainment shortly."
"Sure thing, Elder." Ingram muttered, sidestepping away as Danse removed his helmet.
"I want everyone down here and watching, Ingram!" Arthur called as she departed. "Make sure that traitor Vega is escorted to the combat area." He then chuckled in a self-satisfied manner, no doubt taking note of Danse's stern expression. "Oh don't worry, synth . We showed your precious general all the courtesies that the Brotherhood has to offer while we interrogated her."
Danse knew that Arthur trying to rile him up was technically a good sign. It meant that the other man was attempting to disperse some of his own nerves. However, it was difficult for him to capitalize upon with the worry of Vega possibly being injured getting added onto the pile of Danse's concerns. The growl erupted from him unintentionally, burring in his chest like a hacksaw. "Maxson, if you-"
"Do not speak to me, freak ." Arthur hissed.
Danse stewed as a crowd began to form. At least now they would have an audience. Hundreds of eyes watching his every move, but also watching Maxson's. Danse hoped that the scribe at the gate hadn't just been spouting optimistic nonsense.
The paladin emerged from his armor, standing at attention beside the frame as a vertibird whirred by overhead, descending from the Prydwen. Upon their first sight of him, the troops began talking amongst themselves. Danse reasoned that it must be quite the shock for most of them, to see him alive and well.
Please be alright, Vega , the paladin begged mentally. Please , Elizabeth .
He heard her coming long before he saw her, watching the crowd part for a lone knight in power armor. "You're a fuckin' piezashet , y'know that? Just a fuckin' asshole! " Backhand roared, struggling and straining against the iron grip of the knight that was dragging her along. "Let me go , y' fuckin' cockass'n sunuva' fuck! "
Danse blinked, a bit impressed with the vitriol the general was spitting considering her appearance. She looked like a stretch of bad road, gaunt, both of her eyes ringed yellow-green from faded bruising and her glasses absent. The whole left side of her face bore the distinct grate marks of the Prydwen's catwalks, indicating that she had been slammed against the floor. Her Vault suit was in shambles, half-ribboned and hanging off of her shoulder at a rakish angle, and her hair was a tangled, greasy mess.
Danse catalogued it all and swiftly tucked it away for later. Compartmentalize . She's alive and ambulatory. Priority is Maxson , he instructed himself sternly. Focus . You can't afford to be distracted right now. You face the elder of the Brotherhood of Steel .
All of that flew out the window the moment he heard Elizabeth's voice crack. "D... Danse? " She asked tremulously, "Danse, you're alive? "
Danse nodded, not looking at her. "For better or for worse, I am."
"I…" Backhand paused. "What's going on, Danse? I-I thought that...I thought you were…"
Her obvious distress gave Danse an odd rush of guilty comfort. She would have missed him. Had she mourned him when she thought he was dead?
  To hell with it .
Danse turned to Elizabeth, carefully tipped her chin up and pressed a corner of the bandanna around his neck to her lips. "For luck." He murmured with a thin smile, cupping the right side of her face so he didn't hurt her. She just stared up at him, those eyes bright with pent-up emotions. The knight securing her coughed awkwardly and Danse stepped back, feeling Vega's gaze on him even as he moved to face Maxson.
Ingram cleared her throat and announced above the rising hubbub, "this is a Litany trial! The conditions are no weapons or armor, strictly empty-handed combat. If Paladin Danse manages to remove our elder from the circle, the Brotherhood has agreed to release the former Knight Vega into Minutemen custody. If our elder removes the paladin from the circle, Paladin Danse has agreed to allow the elder to pass swift judgement upon him."
"Say it how he said it, Proctor!" Danse barked, his deep voice carrying well. "He plans to kill me if he wins, don't shy away from it!" He heard Vega swear before the crowd of knights, aspirants and squires around him voiced their mixture of dismay and apprehension. "Elder Maxson has deemed me a threat to the Brotherhood and has forced my hand. So now we engage in a combat trial as it is written in the Litany."
"Trying to turn my troops against me, abomination?" Maxson huffed as he discarded his heavy battle coat and began rolling up his sleeves. "I can't say I'm surprised, but I am disappointed. I had hoped you would meet your end with some shred of dignity."
Danse shrugged, Backhand's lucky bandanna brushing his chin when he raised his head. "You haven't won yet, Maxson." He reminded the younger man with a sad smile.
Arthur lunged at him suddenly, dust flying with the speed of his approach. Danse barely managed to sidestep, latching on to Arthur's wrist and shoulder. The paladin used the other man's momentum against him, redirecting him around his body and kicking his legs out from beneath him.
"Are we beginning now, Arthur?" He asked sharply, that tactical portion of his brain considering the merits of stomping down on Maxson's groin with all his might.
But no, no, he couldn't--Maxson was the elder -
Arthur flailed on the ground, his face red with fury as he clawed at Danse's hands on him. The paladin released him and stepped back, not overly eager to stay within striking distance of the formidable elder. Unfortunately, Maxson didn't leave him much of a choice in the matter. The younger man darted forward again, too low for Danse to redirect him. The paladin took the brunt of Arthur's shoulder to his midsection, gasping out a pained breath even as he tried to brace his footing.
Arthur's shoulder drove deeper into his stomach and the younger man grappled Danse's legs, heaving him backwards off the ground . Danse frantically grabbed at Maxson's back before the younger man pinned him bodily, the two of them hitting the gravel with a bone-jarring impact.
Danse still hadn't been able to catch his breath and he barely got his arms up in time as Arthur cocked back for his first punch.
Maxson tended to machine-gun when it came to his blows, pummeling his target to a pulp within the first flurry. Danse had watched him fight enough to know that this was possibly the worst position for him to be in. Here, Maxson could just rain attacks down onto him until his damn arms broke, beat him into submission without even having to get him outside the boundaries. "You will die. In the dirt . Like the dog you are!" Maxson screamed as he struck Danse.
He's the elder. He's the elder. But...
Danse gritted his teeth. No . If Maxson was doing to kill him, he was going to work for it. Danse wouldn't hand him his fragile existence on a silver platter. Not anymore. Never again . Every assault, every misguided order, every time his admiration or willingness to help had been taken advantage of…
Danse sucked in a breath and shoved Maxson in the chest with all his might, knocking the other man off of him. " Fuck you Arthur! " He spat, suddenly red-hot angry . He got to his feet and loomed over the elder of the Brotherhood, smoldering with rage.
Maxson seemed confused, like he couldn't believe Danse was actually fighting back . He scrambled back to an upright position, the two of them circling each other much more warily now.
"You should have just laid down and died like a good soldier!" Maxson taunted, feinting a few jabs on the left before he swung in from the right. His fist caught Danse in the jaw, snapping the older man's head to the side as he continued, "should have just let me break you, Danse!"
Danse, reeling from the hit, staggered back a step and dropped to one knee. No, get up . Don't let him do this to you . He forced himself back up, glancing the next punishing blow off his shoulder and then landing a check of his own that sent Maxson sprawling on his back.
"Get up, Arthur!" Danse shouted, his fists clenched. " Get the fuck up and fight me! "
So fast Danse almost missed it, Arthur whipped his combat knife out of his boot sheath and rushed him with it, holding the blade low in an effort to conceal the weapon.
The blade that killed the deathclaw .
The point barely grazed Danse's arm as he flinched back, razor-sharp steel easily parting the flannel and skin beneath it.
He was in trouble now. Maxson unarmed was bad enough, but Maxson using a weapon he was intimately familiar with absolutely spelled certain death for Danse. Never mind that they had agreed on no weapons. Danse doubted anyone was exactly refereeing a Litany trial. As long as they stayed within the circle, he was under the impression that he was on his own.
Arthur slashed wildly at him, no longer bothering for subtlety as he openly attacked Danse with the knife. Maxson had this hideous, leering smirk on his face the whole time; he was playing with his food.
Danse felt like an idiot for even thinking that he had a chance at winning when Maxson buried the blade in his shoulder.
But what else could he do? Die in the dirt , like Arthur had screamed at him?
" You're a cheating sunuvabitch, Arthur! " Vega's voice rang out loud and clear like the crack of a whip. Danse saw her out of the corner of his eye, the woman struggling vainly against the armored vambrace that encircled her waist. " Coward! " She yelled indignantly.
Danse smiled thinly through the pain, gripping Maxson's wrist on the knife with enough force to make Arthur grunt. His free hand clamped down on the crook of Maxson's elbow, keeping the younger man locked in that position. Maxson headbutted him to try and make some space and Danse slammed their heads together harder, baring his teeth and snarling in Arthur's face.
Between the two of them, Arthur would always be smarter and quicker than Danse.
But Danse was stronger . Danse thrived in the trenches and on the front lines. Maxson may have called him a dog as an insult, yet there was truth in his words. Danse was a bulldog , boots on the ground, chewing for the jugular until the day he died. This wasn't his first time fighting for his life against insurmountable odds and he was finally refusing to roll over for Arthur.
Something flashed in Maxson's eyes for a split-second and Danse latched onto it. "You're afraid of me, aren't you Maxson?" He panted, maintaining his death grip as Arthur began to struggle to free himself. "Of what I could do to your leadership, your elder status-"
" Shut the fuck up!" Maxson seethed, the palm of his free hand crashing into Danse's throat. The paladin stumbled back and dropped to the ground, his lungs screaming for air as the blade tore loose. Maxson, instead of just finishing him off, began to pontificate, watching Danse writhe and hack for air in the dirt. "You know Danse, I saw what you had with Cutler and I envied it. I searched for years , trying to find something like it. I failed, naturally. So the only solution was to get Cutler out of the picture. But you were stubborn . You longed for a dead man, entirely ignoring the needs of your leader!" Maxson hissed, grinding the heel of his boot against the wound on Danse's shoulder. "And if I couldn't have you wholly, I would break you."
Danse knew on a technical level that the wound should hurt. His face automatically winced. But all he could focus on was Arthur's words, his confession . The heel of the elder's boot, already sticky with blood, crushed down on the side of Danse's head next.
"Why so quiet now, Danse? Do I behave like a man who fears you, freak? " Maxson mocked him, delivering one last kick before backing away.
Danse laid there in the gravel, bruised, bleeding; dazed not just by pain but by the knowledge that Maxson had sent Cutler away on purpose. Maxson had sent Cutler to his death. Sent Brandis to his death. Sent Danse to his death.
" Well , synth? For being so confident, you are remarkably silent!" Arthur needled. "Where's all that righteous wrath you threatened me with? I wanted a fight! "
Danse noticed dimly that the crowd was entirely still around them. It was eerie, like everyone else had vanished and it was just he and Arthur.
Danse raised his left arm, the whole limb shaking violently, and he curled his fingers to flip Maxson off.
The crowd's judgemental silence dissolved into laughter and rowdy shouts, both for and against the paladin. He vaguely picked up Vega yelling, " Attaboy! "
Arthur sputtered with fury. He leaped at Danse, no doubt enraged enough to slit his throat. All Danse could think to do was hike his knees up, planting them firmly in Maxson's pelvis and then catapulting the smaller man up and over his body. Maxson landed several feet away on his back, giving a pained grunt as the wind was knocked out of him by the impact.
The knife clattered and skidded through the dirt and gravel, out of reach for the moment. Danse floundered to roll over, trying to keep the distance between himself and Arthur while the dust settled. When it did, though, he realized something.
Arthur's entire body was outside the circle.
Danse blinked, eyes wide as he realized that not only did that mean he had won, that meant Arthur had lost. In front of everyone .
" Freak! " Maxson shrieked, staggering back to his feet and pointing an accusatory finger at the wounded paladin. "At least Cutler had the good sense to get himself killed , unlike you and fucking Brandis! " The elder screamed, blood and saliva flying from his mouth. "You two are like goddamn radroaches! "
"Elder Maxson?" Rhys . He sounded so hesitant, so unlike himself. "Sir, did you...did you send our squad out here purposely? "
"It is not your place to question me, Knight! And don't act like Danse didn't tell you as much, I'm certain he wasted no time vilifying me upon your arrival to the Commonwealth!" Maxson spat ruthlessly. "Traitorous liar! "
"I'm afraid the paladin may have been too preoccupied with keeping his squadron alive to convey any personal irritation regarding you , sir." Haylen said dryly. "Perhaps you can fill us in on what we might have missed?"
Maxson, instead of answering, threw himself back at Danse.
  …
Danse hit the ground with Maxson on top of him and Backhand screamed something abusive that was extremely unflattering to the elder's lineage.
Arthur grabbed Danse by the collar of his worn shirt and slammed the back of his head against the ground, the elder appearing to snap as he howled with rage and punched Danse again and again and again -
Vega's fists clenched in her binds and she struggled futilely against the knight holding her, willing Danse to fight back, to do something , don't die on me!
Suddenly a huge gauntlet was seizing Maxson by the seat of his pants, tossing the young man off to the side.
"That is enough ." Brandis, Brandis , how had he even gotten there?! Backhand had last seen him in the bowels of the Prydwen as she was being led out from the cell! The elderly paladin stood tall over the two bedraggled men in the dirt, cracking his knuckles in his gauntlets. "What is the meaning of this, Maxson?" He asked furiously, tone sharp through the speakers of his helmet. "You would disgrace trial by combat in such a manner? How dare you! You bring shame upon the Litany!"
"Stay out of my way, you meddling old fool!" Maxson ordered, getting shakily to his feet.
"Or what, you'll beat me to a pulp as well?" Brandis retorted. "You've turned against your troops, Arthur, the men and women you swore to lead with integrity. You've freely admitted to sending soldiers to their deaths because it suited you , not the needs of the Brotherhood. You've brought nothing but disgrace to our chapter, Arthur! Look around you! " Brandis exclaimed, gesturing at the crowd. "You're a tyrant , Maxson! Not one amongst the ranks would stand up to you, not one would shake you back to reality, and those that tried are now lying in the damn dirt ."
  "Be quiet! "
"You cannot silence me, Maxson." The old paladin said calmly. "You've tried and failed before."
"What would you have me do, Brandis? He's a synth ."
"Perhaps." Brandis allowed. "But all I see is a man who obeyed your stipulations and threw you out of your circle, Maxson. According to our tenets and the Litany, his requests must be met. Release Vega to his custody."
Maxson snarled futilely. "You will regret crossing me, Brandis!" He warned. "Stand down now! "
"I have no squadron left for you to kill, Elder ." The older paladin scoffed a little. "What will you hold over my head? Retirement?" He tipped his helmet towards the knight who had Vega. "I said, release her ."
The knight who had been holding Backhand let her go with a mumbled apology, and without any hesitation she took off at a dead run for Danse. Her whole body ached from the heavy-handed treatment Maxson had inflicted on her, but in the light of getting Danse back it was an easy burden to bear.
She tumbled to her knees, her hands still bound in front of her as she called his name. He groaned in reply, grimacing when she touched his arm. "Danse, holy shit ." Backhand breathed.
The paladin exhaled a broken laugh, barely opening his eyes. "Did I win?" He asked blearily. "Everything is spinning."
Backhand couldn't help the sob that escaped her as Danse pawed blindly at her bound hands, the young woman opening her mouth to say something.
There was a commotion behind her, Brandis shouting " no Maxson! " and then a gunshot. Backhand froze as a plume of dirt kicked up bare inches from Danse's head, the paladin jerking away from the impact.
She pitched herself forward, bridging Danse's form with her own by propping her weight up on her elbows. "Don't move, Danse." She whispered, "I've got you, okay? If he wants to shoot you he's gonna' have to get through me ."
"Don't try to--Vega, I order you to get out of the way! How dare you defy me!" Maxson struggled against Brandis' attempts to take the service pistol from him, waving the gun wildly in the air. " Traitors! Let the synth meet its fate!"
"Vega, you need to... Elizabeth , he'll shoot you, please -" Danse begged, weakly shoving at her side. "The Brotherhood needs-"
" Fuck the Brotherhood, Danse!" Backhand yelled at him. "If this is how they treat you , someone who's spent his entire career fighting for their cause, then I don't want shit to do with them!"
The report of the service pistol cut through the air once more, and Backhand's body collapsed on top of Danse.

Follow me inside the wastelands -  Chapter 26  -Arthur Maxson x Female Sole Survivor Fanfic
Hello to the ten maybe twenty people who keeps reading this fic 26 chapters later…its funny because I don’t see you in the numbers but I see you when I make an update. Which makes me wonder where the hell are the 60 people of chapter two, maybe in the middle of the road…and it’s a long road
If you are very very very delighted with one fic and want a continuation I didn’t write or post you can donate me at least $5 bucks, most of this fics have next chapters I don’t finish because lack of motivation but hey a $5 is a $5, I see a few reviews and comments that fics that are abandoned months laters receive comments of wanting to know what happens next. Here it is, I finished my handling with you all, enjoy the fic
The radrain didnt stop until a month and a week later from the latest events, Arthur had a bit of remorse for how things ended up last time…but not that much, he was tired. Know that this situation wasn’t normal but if knocking up somebody would be this problematic better spare himself…
A week after the radrain stop he received another letter, not from Nora, from the Longfellow old man, he was at the entrance of the airport delivering that letter and damn it was a miracle that he remembers who he was to accept it and not shoot at him, thing is that it wasn’t exactly a letter from Nora, but from Maccready, if it was really him of course, he didn’t know his calligraphy to judge if it was really him or not…
“She is at Sanctuary and will be for another pair of weeks if you want to pay a visit”
Cool, thanks for the notice…
He make a ball of the note, playing with it nervous on his hands and swallow saliva…yeah…yeah…lets pay a visit…
A paladin and a few soldiers should be enough, she says to always park the ventibird in the Red Rocket station since it’s the designated place for air vehicles…According with scribe Nereah power armor isn’t necessary for now, strong winds move all the radiation to another side this days so the air and the sky are clean to move freely, that’s what he expect of Nora doing outside too.
So he did, take a paladin and a few soldiers on a ventibird and move there, doubt that anyone but Nora will attack him…if that happens of course… he hopes to be able to take down a pregnant woman in case of anything, never did it before, its not like he wants to do it but…lately he don’t know anything…
At arriving at the station he knew that everybody in Sanctuary will be aware of his presence, so be it, but anyway he told the paladin and the soldiers to stay aside and just watch any weird movement in the settlement, if they hear shootings of course to come and help but nothing more than that, just in case of an emergency scenario.
But even before placing a foot down on the ground he saw at the wooden bridge a patrol of minutemens with…a pregnant lady in a blue vault suit. He swallows saliva and walk towards them. Meeting Nora, looking at her in the eyes avoiding to look at her belly. It wasn’t the only thing he wanted from her of course
At standing one in front of the other he wanted to talk and say anything, not really having something planned, before they didn’t have all this problems to communicate but now he felt like nothing more needs to be said even if there was a lot of talk to be done. But she did first. She talk first- Come on, lets go to my house to talk.
Arthur sighted and relax his shoulders, sometimes they understand the other too well
Of course he didn’t want their private drama to be part of his soldiers and hers but they need protection constantly from their positions.
Walking along her felt good and correct in another time but now it feels…odd…it gives him bad vibes, he hated that, wished everything to be as before but…no…his eyes slip to her rounded belly, his child was there now, and he loved it, this was all worth for him, maybe not easy but yes worth for him. A bad chill press on his spine when he saw the door of her house, the last time he was there maybe…it was when they conceive their child.
Both go inside the house and Nora leaned against the next wall, looking down, hands behind her back.
-Isnt that suit a bit tight?
-Why are you here Arthur? –rude, she always has awful ways to say things
-I suppose you would be here after the rain is over
-Its true, there’s a lot of settlement work to do everywhere, the radstorms leave a lot of damage in people houses…only im not doing it, im giving directions and helping but not much
-Im glad you aren’t…-he stay in silence for a moment, looking at the ground before looking up again- Nora its over –she look at him, not saying anything- you are five months now what do you expect to happen? You are even taking care of yourself, its not like you expect to loose it and free yourself from this –her hands moved to her belly, only to the sides.
-Taking care of it is something that it just felts natural and correct to do…I pass through this before…but I never expect it to happen again less with you.
-When you ask your husband down in the vault 111 about being happy again weren’t you talking about me? –he was quite sad about that
-Yes…and I was right, it did end horribly like with the last person I take down there
-It didn’t end, im not saying anything about an end, I keep looking for you because I don’t want it to end
-You know why im here? Why I still am a brotherhood soldier? –what? That only confuse Arthur- because I killed Danse –what does a thing have to do with the other? Nora sobbed, and look up trying to contain the tears in her eyes to not fall down her cheeks- If Danse would stay alive I would align with the institute just for his sake, but I killed him
-You killed him because I order you, he was synth and an spy…-he didn’t get it.
-No, I didn’t follow your orders, I killed Danse because I was mad I couldn’t convince him to run away with me, I confessed my feelings expecting it would change his mind and he say he can only look at me as a sister, I was mad,  I let a fury consume me and I killed him taking the opportunity because I was so mad to be rejected after wanting him for so long…but not for the good of the Brotherhood…because I resented him –now tears were going down her cheeks, this was the second time Nora talks about killing someone because a fury consume her
So…Danse was the other guy everybody talk about. But they never were a thing.
-What does this have to do with our baby? So much time passed…-well it does feel like shit knowing that your woman has feelings for other person not gonna lie, but it doesn’t matter that much since he is dead a long time now
-If he choose to stay with me I would align with the institute to keep him secured by my side for sure
-With the same son you kill because of the atrocities he made? –this was bullshit, an attempt to make him go away.
-Or the railroad maybe I don’t know im…-she moved her hands to the sides of her head
-Confused, because this has nothing to do with our child, with me…with us…-Arthur step in front of her and place his hands on the sides of her belly, feeling it warm and heavy on his palms.
-I loved him, he was my best friend –Nora was sobbing, and as much her words were a stab on the chest they were discussing something far much important- and I was so mad for so little…I killed him, he didn’t deserve it
-Nora I told you before that you don’t have to be a saint all the time, you have the right to feel and you are pretty aware of it, you feel and do all the time –lets just forget the Danse subject shall we? It hurts him too, remembering your best friend hurts so much
-Don’t you see that I don’t choose the brotherhood? That I didn’t choose you!?  -oh no she wouldn’t pull him away with this- if would choose anything else if he was still alive!
-Bullshit, you look after me for months, what we have is real and you can’t deny it, enough with this nonsense
-I would never choose an hypocrite with tech parts –now he did separate, doing circles on the floor walking almost laughing.
-You are so desperate, have nothing against me, you don’t wanna just admit that there’s absolutely no reason for this drama –she looks ashamed behind all the tears and the red nose.
-No…i…
-Come on, if you didn’t have an abortion until now, when? You want this baby, and don’t have a real problem with me…because I didn’t give you any single reason…ever
-Do you really want someone like me to be the mother of your child? –someone with an unclear goal, who flips sides all the time, who doesn’t like the idea of being a mother again
-This isn’t about me! –Arthur pointed at her with a sarcastic smile, cornering her in her own trap- I don’t get why five months later we keep discussing the same thing but yes! I do! For god sake I do!...-he stay in silence, looking at his sad dog face thinking carefully before talking- listen to me…I been working really hard…this half year…due to the results and achievements we both –he pointed at himself and her- had…I been promoted…
-You are already elder what biggest promotion would you need? –she was confused, still sobbing.
-I been talking and negotiate with other elders in California…contacting them back, they recognize my authority over Lyons…is not just my soldiers, my followers like they used to call them…I don’t have a cult…they recognize mine as a chapter of the brotherhood with no doubt…im no longer on Lyons shadow.
God. Nora close his eyes, its true, Arthur have his own problems too, and never take the time to think on them. Be at his side.
-And? –she moved close to him, taking his hands, feeling awful about never care about him, its true, she place all her drama in his shoulders and never care about his problems, her own hands tremble but this is the minimum she can do about it, even if it was useless and one attempt to feel herself better.
-We can go Nora, we can go away –he look at their hands together.
-I don’t get it.
-We can travel away from the Commonwealth, settle in somewhere else –she shook her head to the sides.
-What?
-You have horrible memories and experiences of this place, this land, lets go away, make new ones, the three of us…
-Can we do that? –Nora was so confused
-Yes! I have everything prepared…im just waiting for you…for our son…
She loose his hands, but Arthur put his on her shoulders, moving her head with his to look into her eyes.
-I…I don’t know…I have so many things here…
-This place only give you suffering the more you are here, lets go away from this memory’s, make some new ones with me and our child
Her breathing accelerates, a lot.
-I don’t think I can
-Nora it’s a chance for us
-But what about the minutemens…
-You can pass the power so someonelse, forget it, you are a sentinel you can work anywhere
-What do you mean
-I want us to be happy together
-I was happy before the baby! –she screamed, pulling away from his grip walking around the house nonononononono
-You weren’t happy before –Arthur follow her.
-Maybe –again, she grabbed the sides of her head.
-We can be all happy together, away from the horrors of the commonwealth
-I don’t know I have so many things to do…-Arthur place his palms in her cheeks, making her look into his blue eyes, she melted into that gaze.
-Im here just waiting for you Nora, I not leaving without you…but we can heal together away from this place
-The wastelands horrors are everywhere…my malnourished slim little kid –oh gosh she remembers
-They are, but together we are stronger…-her eyes fill with tears and Arthur hug her, pulling her against her chest, kissing on her head while she sobbed.
-I have to think of it…-why?- there’s so much im leaving behind
-You made a manual in case of death, what more do you need? Consider yourself dead and come with me, in case you died for any reason somebody else have to take your place anyway…
-Well I prefer you to have my caps ally…-true, logically true
-This door is open for us, only together, you told me a lot of times you wanted to travel away from the Commonwealth, this is not your old home anymore
-I don’t know if I will fit good as a mom no matter the place
-Im also becoming a dad –she look up at him, taking a breath, closing her eyes before hiding her face on her neck
-I have to think on it
Well
She didn’t say no but…that wasn’t a yes…and knowing her…she was saying no for sure. She didn’t want to follow him into the wastelands.
Arthur separate, and place a hand  on her belly, it was the biggest he had seen until now and he believes…it was going to be the biggest he see forever…He feared not seeing her again for some reason stiching in the back of his neck and it didn’t feel like a common fear.
He took a long breath, look up trying to hold the tears, not wanting to take out his hand from there.  He feared not being able to touch there again.
-Nora please
-I just have some things to do…
-I love you –he said out from the heart, but he knew that wouldn’t break her, wouldn’t reach her…
-I love you too
Not really, both stop loving each other with the same intensity as before. And that break Nora and Arthur hearts.
-Does it move? The baby –the question take Nora by surprise- its five month your exams are good you should feel something
-You have no idea –what does that mean? – it hits hard for only being five months…
-You are big –maybe too big for five months only, but he never see a full healthy pregnancy before, always on sick and malnourished womans. Nora put his hands over her belly, pressing them down over the leather of the vault suit
-Maybe too big for any suit
-Don’t worry, I can get as many comfortable clothes you need
-Ill give you an answer later…-that was a no, Arthur give up for today with grief, he move his hands away separating but the second before pulling…he swear he felt something against his palm.
-You know ill be waiting…im not leaving without any of you
-I know…
The elder will leave that day with the feeling on his palm of…something pressing hard against it…and the round sensation of her warm belly.
He took the ventibird at the Red Rocket station with the paladin and the soldiers waiting for him back to the Prydwen, the whole journey he would think on his pregnant woman and his 5 months child moving inside her, really moving. Soldiers can see that the elder was tired, defeated, again, today wasn’t a victory for him, the sentinel was being too rough and difficult to seduce.
That day Arthur decided that if she was going to stay at Sanctuary working unable to convince her, he would infiltrate an spy between the minutemens lines, not for anything more than just watch her and inform about her everyday and well being
He needed to be in some form…present…for her and their son if she didn’t allow it.
But he wouldn’t use a soldier from his own forces, he asked the other elders for an external intelligence soldier to come to the Commonwealth for a secret mission, not because his were unable but they all know Nora and had connections to her, maybe someone loyal to her and her triumphs will snitch on him. I mean if the elder ask you on a mission it was important if course but there may be some friendships or closeness involved since she was such an important soldier from so long, she started from initiate and had a big link…to Danse…one of the most popular and beloved Paladins…even if his name faded in time because his anti-synth campaign did good results.
Maybe it wasn’t moral, but he wanted to know what was up with his family, she didn’t want him close because of her own traumas and honestly he can’t travel everyday and mobilize a group to protect him, he had duties and responsibilities to do. Maybe she had hers to, he wouldn’t deny that, but clearly…their thing was dying, she didn’t want him close. He offer everything.
The only single thing he didn’t offer was to end up the pregnancy, and even if he offer it not only now it was too late he doubted it would improve something.
Maybe the baby really change the things, as it was expected of course it would change things…but he wished for things to get only better and they didn’t. He puts too much confidence in this relationship. It break his heart having this realizations but…It would be foolish to continue complaining after 5 months. That’s it. Its over.
He kick the table in his quarters with a small kick, but still one of the bottles of vodka fell, not spill…looking at the transparent bottle make him realize how much passed since he stopped drinking…before Nora he drink at least one shoot a day, and now this bottle was in the table as decoration mostly since year and half…
Maybe he needed a drink today.
The spy was introduced two weeks later in Sanctuary, as a citizen of the Commonwealth who came to work and live from the radio transmissions.
For an entire month he followed Nora and Maccready from the shadows, giving weekly reports to the elder of this chapter and everything seem…normal…apparently she gives directions and orders only, organizes patrols and logistics. She doesn’t eat in the communal dinners. Wakes up early to do…small labor, like cleaning the streets and moving the cattle, lately they were fencing the surroundings of the “isle” that is Sanctuary.
But she is big, bigger than any pregnant woman that the spy have ever seen for her time, it couldn’t be a thing of prewar genes.
Maccready was around, and specifically says in the report, around enough to not bother and not be noticed. It was almost like he was the spy of Maccready and Maccready was the sentinel spy. The spy suspected that Maccready had a slightly idea of what he was doing here, but not his identity.
Should he warn Maccready? Or it would be too much? Two spys over a single person…
Nah, he didn’t need to know that much.
Two weeks later. Nora ambushed the spy against a wall and put a knife on his neck.
Not using force by any methods, just corner him walking around in one garden, walking at his side was enough for her to push him lightly against a wall and since the spy knew that she was the pregnant mother of elder Maxson child he wouldn’t do anything to defend himself to not causa an accident.
Nora had the card of being the general of this place, almost like Hancock in Goodneighbord, she can do…a lot of questionable stuff that usually would be excused as something she does to protect Sanctuary, so pushing and menacing a settler against a wall…was something nobody would question at all. She had a good enough image so this wouldn’t bother at all.
-Let me go! –say the spy, not actually scared about the knife on his neck, acting to not break character.
-You think I wouldn’t notice eventually an spy in my home? –she said spitting in his face, taking another knife out of…he couldn’t really know where but Nora take lessons from Hancock on how to be a good mayor- so, who send you? I think I was in good terms with the railroad
-Im not an spy!
-Drop the act dumbass, it will make it easy for you
-Please I beg you! –a raider gang maybe? This guy didn’t look that weird
-You know I never had the chance to interrogate someone on court before the bombs dropped…this may be a good practice –she said before giving him a hard punch in the stomach, when the man fell to the ground beated by pain she sat on his back and use both hands and knifes, one under his neck and the other up behind the head. Shit this was no good at all.
-Believe me im not a spy! I swear!
-Not good enough, keep trying
The spy can see from the side of his eyes how people were coming over them, noticing the odd and violent situation happening in the peaceful settlement, damn if more people joined this would be more and more dangerous for him.
-You are making a mistake general!
-Maccready, give me a hand over here, hold his feet
Oh no, not him precisely. Both man exchanged looks and…damn he understand the situation, he understand who he was and what he was doing there.
-If you weren’t pregnant ill already be free! –its true, he can’t harm her, she was carrying the son of the elder, if by any chance she receives any harm that would be his end, better summit and not move a muscle
-You sure buddy? –she asked all cocky
-Just because you are the general doesn’t mean you can do this!
-Nora –Robert call her securing the man ankles, she look at him with a bit of effort due to keeping the concentration on her prey –we need to talk
-What? –she said getting off the spy with her legs to knee in the ground next to him, still with the knifes on his neck, loosing a bit of control cutting slighy the flesh making the spy jump a bit when Maccready come close to whisper on her ear his concerns. Whisper whisper whisper…-that fucker –was that an insult to elder Maxson? That will go in the report –you –Nora call him taking the knifes out and kicking the side of his body while Maccready secured his wrist- come with us
This wasn’t an experience she needs as a pregnant woman, less with the belly at this stage but oh well she can still move good without problem
-Let me go! –scream the spy while Maacready make him stand to walk to Noras house, at getting inside Codsworth understand the situation with the strange man and move besides her to protect his pregnant maam.
-Come on, I said that resisting will do it more difficult for you –the raider talk was something that really entertained Nora
-Again! Im not a spy! –Maacready kick him in the calves making the man curl in pain, the mercenary took the chance to sit him down in a chair, not tying him up, standing behind.
-Hey General –call the mercenary to the woman on the other side on the room- do you still have the Throatslicer? –well that name sound intimidating
-Oh yeah, what a great idea –she said with a bright smile, in the moment she leave the room the handy robot behind her pull out a circular saw, just pull it out but when she came back throw something to Maccready in the air –here you go!- and stand against a wall, placing her hands on her belly
-So –said the mercenary catching a rusted knife, just placing it in his shoulder, securing it the grip with his fingers, letting the blade between his neck and shoulder- are you going to make it easy? For you, specially
-I don’t know what more do you need to convince you im not a spy
His brotherhood training didn’t let him fear a hostage situation but this was taking too long to change, I mean he assumed this was a situation it could happened and for a month he did it pretty well but…she is a sentinel, of course this wouldn’t last too much.
-What is a scar or two? –said the mercenary before strabbing him in the right shoulder by the front, taking by surprise the brotherhood spy who tried to stand from the chair but the mercenary wouldn’t let him, pulling him down again in the chair, stabbing him in the left shoulder now- heres goes the second! –the soldier tried to fight and use his arms to defend himself but the wounds there make his grip all weak
-Let me! Im swear im not a spy! –his voice cracked in pain, still in the other side on the room, Nora was watching
-Robert –she called him, the mercenary close his arms around his neck to avoid him from running away –an ear
-You cant be serious –said the spy taking a breath- im not what you think! –the opens on his shoulders were getting hot from the blood coming out
-Do it –she said as the Mister Handy robot leave her side and move closer with the flamer and the circular saw, to menace him to stay in place as the mercenary pull one of his ears and place a knife in the union between the ear and his head- you can talk you know?
-Please don’t! –ok the acting wasn’t working, she wasn’t softening and he was really doing his best to not drop the image of an innocent settler. When the knife started to cut a bit of skin the spy overventilated and surrender-Ill do it! –like a professional, Maccready stopped but move the knife to his neck again, were there was a bit of blood flowing down too.
-Will you talk? –she said getting closer.
-Yes! –oh no the wounds on his shoulders were really really bleeding
-Alright, but the knife stays there –a sadistic smile appeared on her face, the woman take out 2 syringes, one of med-x and another of stimpack from whoever knows were…-see this buddy? Im giving it to ya when we are done
-Im bleeding –his clothes were all wet and the metallic smell from blood was all over the place
-Don’t worry, I don’t have rugs anymore in this house, too much bloodstains to clean
-So who is your boss? –ask the mercenary moving the knife around
The spy didn’t want to talk at all but…
-The brotherhood…
-Weird you don’t recognize him–said Maccready to Nora.
-Odd to me too, doesn’t act and move like an initiate neither, what are you doing in this side of the commonwealth fella?
He didn’t want to talk at all
-Im sure there’s plenty of interesting places around to sneak your noses more than this old neiberhood –mutter the mercenary into the spy ear
-Not if the sentinel is not around –said the spy, Nora look confused at him.
-Me? Why me?
-I believe is pretty big obvious Nora –when Robert said that Nora give a kick to the air and look at the ground
-let me tell you something –said the woman walking slowly towards him- you can still de your work around –Maccready raise an eyebrow confused, the spy too- yeah…you can stay here…-she said with a smile, the spy swallow saliva at seeing that curve- you can even write this conversation in your report –she wasn’t mentioning the elder at all, but it was implied- in fact I want you to specifically communicate this so listen up –the woman knee in front of him looking at his terrified eyes, it wasn’t easy to keep the composure in front of someone with so many raider vibes- you can watch me, follow me, try to sneak into my secrets…but you will fail, one day I will disappear out of nothing and there will be no sight of me at all, I will be out of your sight so youll have nothing to report at all more than your failure, I swear ill make you fail you mission stupid toy
The man swallow again feeling a void in his stomach.
-You will let me around?
-Yeah, you can still do settlement work, live and eat our food –she stand up, looking big and powerful, menacing- are you a brotherhood soldier or a third party?
-A brotherhood soldier –Nora make a sign with the head to Maccready and the man put the knifes down, lifting him up from the chair as she stands back.
-Never see you before –she said as dropping the med-x an the stimpack to the ground, not breaking them, just letting them fall, one of the syringes having a small crack on the sides spilling the content by little drops- you are lucky I don’t let a brother or a sister down, go away sucker
The spy knee down trying to pick up the syringes before the liquid spills on the ground and loose the chance to heal a bit, his arms and shoulders hurts like hell but he was able to move enough to pick the items, as soon he got them between his fingers doing that regrettable show the mercenary pull the neck of his coat and use the force to take him out of the house as Nora open the door, throwing him outside like a pile of trash, not caring if he crashed against the floor.
Door was smashed in front of the spy face, who take the chance to inject the stimpack and the med-x in his shoulders, feeling the burning of the cuts in his neck still present
Inside the house Nora pull the hairs at the side of her face, having a burnout of stress.
But she will keep her word.
The spy was still around, walking, working, eating, sleeping, defending the settlement, going on patrols searching for problems nearby…she wouldn’t look at him in the eye, others would direct him but there he was, still around, no one was kicking him. Yes, other settlers were suspicious of his attitudes and manners, because of the show, of course if the general menace you with a knife against a wall and then interrogates you in her house you won’t be seen as well as before by other people specially if they loved her so much but…he was still around.
He will write this to the elder in his report, repeat everyword of her, specially the menaces and comments about him. But after that report others followed, others that will look like more like before the discovers the spy, saying that the days were normal, that she was working around and directing things as usual, not talking to him its true but…just like before…her pregnancy look normal, growing everyday a bit more.
Its like she wanted the spy around.
At 7 month, she will stop using the vault suits to change it for dresses, like a Laundered denim dress, surely because she doesn’t fit anymore in other clothes and they were too tight to move around with her gigant belly…and a Old fisherman's hat, not sure why so ugly but it must be to protect from the sun. Something was odd with that pregnancy, she was too big, really big.
But a week later after that…she keep her word…and disappear…the spy lost track of her for two more entire weeks. She vanished in the air. He would ask around to the people or what they acted like his bosses, not only no one wanted to answer much because it wasn’t really their business to get in trouble because the newbie was asking too much but because they didn’t know either.
He wrote the elder about it, about her dissaparence, how she wasn’t around, she wasn’t working on the settlement but apparently didn’t leave because everybody that would be her companion was around. Even Maccready.
She wasn’t dead, there was no movement if that was the case but everything was still so organized and fine that it couldn’t be, she was directing people from somewhereelse.
The spy started to panic and get dessesperate nonononono he loose his objective, he performed horribly in this mission, the spying was a fiasco, the cover up was a mess…and now the sentinel is gone! His discontent was starting to be visible because of how many people he was asking to get more information about the sentinel whereabouts, so visible that the man that almost cut one of his ears approach him one night, with a letter.
-Give this to elder Maxson –was the only thing the mercenary said to him
The spy delivers the letter to the airport with another soldier connections, not wanting to face the elder Maxson at all, arguing that he wanted to return to the settlement to see some new movement happening.
Maxson open the letter with full frustration knowing the situation from previous reports, she was so slippery to any of his plans.
“Nora is doing fine, healthy according to Curies report” said the letter Maccready read “Ill update you about her status but since she is not going out for a while…”going out? So she was underground? Oh his poor brain was trying to extract and read between lines as many information as possible”Changing, but since she is not my woman I will not look at that”Oh he can understand the meaning of that, still, Nora was barely still his woman at this point ”I don’t think she is ready even at this time, if you send some goods…ill deliver them to her “So the mercenary have access to whenever she was “I try to convince her everyday that she doesn’t have to do this alone, I lost my wife and I don’t think any protection is enough for the ones we love, she would do good in have you at her side, a little extra more of protection” is she the only who don’t see how unnecessary this is? Apparently she doesn’t bad mouth of him at all, if this letter was truly written with sincerity of course”Since I don’t have as many time as before ill leave you the details of my payment in the dorso of this letter, as you see and heard im doing fine my part of protecting her” of course, this man was working for his son Duncan “You are going to receive more letters from me, she is at the end stage and you deserve to be informed as well” oh gosh she really was the problem everybody understand him so well “Dunkan wasn’t fond of your offer and I wasn’t fond of leaving him again after being separated, I know you will take care of your son well as I do with mine, anyway, Nora doesn’t know about this letters, doesn’t have a way to, so ill keep informing you how things are going”
Arthur look at the back and there was drawings and instructions of apparently a place to leave the payment in caps secured until he has time to look them again, of course he wouldn’t have time if he has to be around Noras side.
It was useless to keep searching more hidden things in this letter content, it was pretty clear, I mean clean and vague because it doesn’t say much but there was no seconds intentions at least from a man that wasn’t as smart as her, Maccready was just an ignorant mercenary, doesn’t have the capability to write something more deep or do more than just…killing…performing his job…
So…she was…fine…
And changing…
Arthur prepared a package of things she left behind here in the Prydwen, at some point in their relationship she became comfortable enough to bring a few of her most beloved possessions to his quarters thinking it was their forever spot, new and beautiful dresses, clothes of all kind, magazines, books, hair products…she surely needed them since well its difficult to find this odds in the commonwealth.
By making this items go he was…letting an important part of their past together go to…separate…
But she needed them, his son would need clean sheets and blankets too, so he prepared a package to send…
Clothes and underwear for her, towels, infant clothes and a pacifier for their child he asked from the California chapters, clean sheets and blankets, a bottle for babys milk…even if he wanted to hold it feeding his child…he let that thought go away, didn’t need it right now doesn’t know how things are going to develop once the baby is born, he was living day by thay this tortuous situation…wiping sheets, soap, shampoo, purified water cans, cloth diapers for change as underwear for the baby…
Food he supposed she has…wasn’t going to fill space on things she wouldn’t eat…
Meds supply like rags, cotton, alcohol, clean surgery items, pillows, antibiotics…
Arthur was letting some of  her things go away from his quarters with all the pain in the word, hating everysecond, but he do this for his child, now his child was the most important thing in the world. If the zeppelin by some reason exploded, he would run away to look after his child immediately.
The package will be delivered to Sanctuary directly…and hopefully if Maccready gives the goods to Nora, his spy will be able to locate her again. Hopefully.
A last pair of gifts for Nora were placed in the package, this feels like a coffin to their relationship, but she was the mother of his child and she would surely appreciate it, she was giving him something important, something she apparently never wanted but…do it for him. As she said, this was her solution.
At vault 111 Nora open the package that Maccready and Preston sneak in secret in the middle of a cold night with guards around securing the perimeter, knowing there was spys of the brotherhood nearby, being the most careful as possible to not snitch the general secret private quarters in Sanctuary…this will be her private spot for the last days of the pregnancy. She secured herself with Codsworth and Curie as her only company, but if Maccready and Preston were careful…they can be around sometimes, a few, maybe once a week.
Inside the package there was a box with supply’s and…it was surrounded by bloomed roses, open, bright red with a with a beautiful aroma of roses that enveloped Nora as soon as she opened the package seeing that spectacle took her breath away but the fresh watermelon that was among the provisions made her eyes water.
Gosh she never wanted things to end this way.

MacCready grinned. “I thought you would sooner dig yourself out with your bare hands than be trapped down there with nothing to do, waiting for someone else to rescue you. It did wonders for my anxiety, really, until you somehow stumbled into the Institute’s clutches. Not your finest plan, boss.”
