It was dark on the cold december night. I was hanging out at Sweet Pea’s place when the snow started coming down hard. Neither of us noticed, until we started getting cold. I felt the shivers and looked over at Pea, who was also slightly shivering.
“It’s cold in here.” I mentioned and Sweets nodded. He got up and checked the head, which was on. He looked out the window and his eyes widened.
“Uh, I guess it started snowing.” Sweets said and I got up to look.
“Oh my God…” I said as I looked at the snow quickly piling up. I heard my phone ring and quickly went to answer it.
“Hello?” I answered.
“Y/N? Where are you?” My brother, Jughead asked.
“I’m at Pea’s place.” I answered.
“Dad! She’s with Sweet Pea!” I heard him call out.
“Darlin’? You’re still at Sweet Pea’s place?” Dad asked and I nodded, before realizing he can’t see me.
“Yeah.” I answered.
“Stay there tonight, there’s a bad storm outside and it looks like we’re gettin’ snowed in.” He said.
“Yeah, Sweets and I didn’t realize it even started snowing until we both felt how cold it was getting.” I said and looked over at Sweets.
“You both are gonna be able to stay warm, right?” He asked.
“Yeah, I think so.” I answered.
“Good, alright, try and keep your phone charged. We might lose power.” He said.
“Okay, Daddy.” I said with a nod. We hung up and I turned to Sweet Pea.
“Guess we’re stuck here until the storm is over and people can start digging us out.” I said and he nodded.
“Fine by me.” He said with a small smirk. I rolled my eyes and started to rub my arms.
“Dad said he thinks we might lose power.” I said and Sweets groaned.
“We’re gonna freeze to death.” He said and I giggled.
“I might freeze first, so you can eat my body if you need to.” I joked. Sweets chuckled then noticed me shivering harder and rubbing my arms. He walked off and returned with a warm looking sweater. He tossed it to me and I happily put it on.
“That looks better on you then it does me.” He said with a wink and I blushed slightly. Sweets and I returned to the couch and started watching another movie.
Maybe half way through the power cut out. Pea groaned and I sighed. It almost instantly got colder. I checked my phone and saw Jughead had texted me. He was making sure my phone was charged and we were okay. I texted him back and told him that my phone was charged and that Pea and I would be fine. I started shivering again and Sweets looked over at me.
“Sweets?” I asked.
“Yeah?” He asked.
“C-Can we move t-to your bed?” I asked. He nodded and we both quickly went to his room. I rushed to his bed and wrapped the blanket around my body and felt a little warmer. Sweets left the room and came back a few moments later with extra blankets. I smiled and moved over to make room for Sweets. He got under the blankets with me and wrapped the extra ones around us. Sweets laid down and pulled me to lay on his chest. I smiled as I felt the warmth of his body.
“Imagine Jugs face if he saw us frozen like this.” I joked and Sweets laughed.
“He’d find a way to bring me back just to kill me again.” He said and I giggled. My brother was alway protective of me when it came to guys. When he found out me and Sweet Pea were dating, Dad had to stop him from killing my now boyfriend. Dad wasn’t exactly happy about me dating Pea either, but he could tell how happy I was with him. That’s the only reason he was a bit more lenient with us.
I could feel myself growing tired, but I didn’t really think I should sleep while being this cold. My eyelids were growing heavier and heavier, I could hardly fight it.
“Get some sleep, babe, it’s pretty much the only thing we can do right now anyway.” He said and I sighed.
“I don’t wanna freeze to death.” I mumbled. Pea chuckled and pulled me closer.
“I’m not gonna let you freeze babe, I’ll keep you warm all night.” He said and my eyes finally closed. I mumbled something in my sleepy state as I finally lost the fight.

String Beans and Goldfish
Summary: Defending someone who everyone hates is hard. Especially when you're standing in front of a bunch of gang members and Mr. Serpent Hottie won't stop staring at you.
Pairing: Sweet Pea x fem!reader
*****
Tumblr media
As soon as you walked through the door, you felt the piercing gaze of 20 something pairs of eyes on you. There was only one that truly mattered, but you pushed down your weird volatile feelings and cleared your throat, stepping up to Jughead.
“What are you doing here?” He raised an eyebrow. “I didn’t know you were into gaming.”
You rolled your eyes with a scoff. “Sorry Jughead, I’m not here to join this fun little club you’ve got going on here. I’m here to talk to you guys.”
“See Jughead, she’s probably here to tell us how stupid our club sounds. Literally who’s going to believe this.” Fangs whined.
You avoided looking at Fangs, because you knew exactly who would be standing right next to him.
“Honestly, I don’t give a shit about your club. I just need to talk to you guys about Reggie.”
You heard a collective groan among them at the name of Riverdale High’s star athlete, infamous among the Serpents for being a complete asshole.
“Why? You here to defend that dick? You his girlfriend or something?”
Shit.
You looked to where the voice came from, although you knew exactly who it was. You made eye contact with him, his eyes, cold and proud, staring into you intently, waiting for an answer. There was an emotion rippling through his body that you couldn’t quite put your finger on.
Anger? Jealousy? Both?
Sweet Pea remembered the first time he saw you- the drag race. You were leaning against the truck Reggie was sitting on, your elbow resting on Kevin’s shoulder, looking annoyed as you squinted in the sun.
You had taken a sip out of Reggie’s red solo cup, making a disgusted scrunched up face before shoving the drink back into his hands.
Sweet Pea almost smirked from his place on his motorcycle next to Toni, but remembered he wouldn’t be caught dead smiling at a Northsider.
He couldn’t help but steal glances at you the whole time, and he for sure as hell could see you looking back at him.
The second time he saw you was on the Serpents’ disastrous first day at Riverdale High.
You were standing off to the side behind Kevin, trying your best not to cringe at Veronica’s enthusiasm and Archie’s uncomfiness. Sweet Pea wasn’t even listening to whatever Veronica was saying, instead eye-flirting with you the whole time.
You didn’t say anything when Cheryl and Reggie made their dramatic entrance down the stairs, apart from an audible groan and an eye roll. But, he did see you pull the sleeve of Reggie’s jacket back when he tried to storm up to Sweet Pea, a glint of warning in your eyes. Reggie immediately backed down, and Sweet Pea scowled at the sight, a string of jealousy pulling in his stomach.
He later learned you were in his World History fifth hour class. You and Cheryl walked in late, accompanied by Principal Weatherbee. Cheryl holding a rag to her bleeding nose, and a bruise forming on your knuckles, and your seat was coincidentally the one right next to the one he sat in.
”Damn you must be one hungry chick.” Sweet Pea watched as you pulled out yet another pack of goldfish.
“Thanks, string bean.” You smiled, trying your best to cover up the rapid beating of your heart. “It’s one of my best qualities.”
He raised his eyebrows with a smirk. “It’s actually Sweet Pea.”
“Well, Sweet Pea, maybe you should take me to Pop’s one time and I can show you much I can eat in one sitting.” You said with a wink, a playful smile tugging at your lips.
And before Sweet Pea could flirt back, Reggie stormed over, narrowing his eyes at Sweet Pea, threat clear in his eyes. Before he could throw out an insult, the teacher interrupted, loudly telling Reggie to sit down.
He grudgingly did, but he spent the rest of class glaring murderously at Sweet Pea. And of course, Sweet Pea flirted with you even more because of that.
And now you were here, at an undercover Serpent meeting trying to defend him.
That filled Sweet Pea with rage.
“Look, string- Sweet Pea. I’m not trying to make up excuses for him. I’m just trying to show you his side.”
“Those sound an awful lot like excuses, sweetheart.” Sweet Pea sneered.
You tried not to choke at the nickname.
“Look, Pea, I don’t want to get in the middle of whatever sexual tension is going on between you two, but how about we hear what she’s gotta say.” Toni tried to reason.
“Thank you.” You sent Toni a warm smile, ignoring the first part of her sentence, before facing the rest of them.
“Okay look. I know, Reggie is an asshole. But deep down . . . he’s actually still kind of an asshole- you know what, I have no clue where I’m going with this, lemme start over.” You said with the wave of your hand. “Reggie’s going through a lot right now. His dad- let’s just say he isn’t the best father.”
You paused, thinking how to phrase your thoughts. “He’s going through a lot of shit at home, and-”
“So? That gives him a right to treat us like shit? Tell Reggie to get over himself. Other kids get abused, doesn’t mean they go around acting like dickbags.” Sweet Pea snarled, venom dripping from his voice.
You narrowed your eyes at him, getting defensive. “No, that’s not what I’m saying. I’m just saying- honestly I don’t even know what I’m saying.”
You looked down at the floor, suddenly feeling stupid. You kicked at the tile, your converse skidding on the floor.
“I’ve known Reggie for a long time, and what I’ve accumulated over all this time is that Reggie is terrible with feelings. When he’s mad, he’s angry. When he’s sad, he’s angry. When he feels like shit, he’s angry. It may not seem like it, but he’s really hurting inside. So he thinks the solution is to take it out on other people. And you guys are the perfect target.” You got quieter, the previous anger in your voice turning into sadness.
Sweet Pea suddenly felt guilty for yelling, which was a feeling he rarely ever felt.
“Look, guys. If you want to beat him up, go for it, he honestly deserves it for being so terrible.” You took in a breath. “But try not to kill him, please. He’s my best friend.” Your voice went down to a whisper at the end.
The kid next to Sweet Pea rolled his eyes. “Please. Save the acting, bitc-”
He was quickly silenced by the thunderous slam of Sweet Pea’s palm onto the desk.
“Nevermind.” His jaw clenched.
Sweet Pea’s eyes stayed on the desk, but he caught the slight smile on your face. He was too proud to tell you that he’ll try to go easy on Reggie, just for you, but you understood.
And that was what made you special.
Before anyone could say anything, Reggie’s voice echoed in the hallway, calling your name.
“You should probably go before your boyfriend gets mad.” Sweet Pea muttered angrily, falling even deeper into the dark pit called jealousy.
You turned to walk out the door, but not before looking Sweet Pea dead in the eye.
”He’s not my boyfriend, string bean.”

“This is going to far.” Sweet Pea shakes his head trying to control his anger.
“Agreed.” Fangs stated crossing his arms.
“They hurt Y/n. I don’t know about you but I want revenge.” Toni all but growled in defense of her friend.
“I’m right here Toni.” Y/n smiled gratefully at her best friend before turning her attention back to everyone. “And I want revenge to.” Y/n stated from her seated position, still hurting all over from the beating.
“We’ll get it princess. We will. We all will.” FP promised his daughter as he walked over to her, he leaned down and kissed the top of her head.
Seconds later the door to the Wyrm burst open and in walked the beanie wearing teen that everyone had been trying to get ahold of.
“What happened?” Jughead said once she was fully in the bar. As he looked around he noticed pretty much everyone was there.
“Where have you been?” FP turned to his son, fuming in rage.
“I was with Betty, we had to look into something. I came as soon as I could.” Jughead shrugged his shoulders, not getting the urgency.
“We called and texted you hundreds of times.” Toni spoke up glaring at Jughead. How could he just ignore everyone trying to get a hold of him.
“Not to mention hours ago.” Fangs joined Toni in glaring at the beanie wearing boy.
“Sorry. I was busy.” Jughead furrowed his eyebrows in confusion on why everyone seemed so passed at him.
“To busy to come to the aid of your bleeding sister?!” Sweet Pea yells enraged, he took a step forward. How could he not care about his own sister then again Sweet Pea felt he shouldn’t be surprised. Jughead always seemed to only care about his Northsider friends, more than he cared about anyone else.
“We had to take her to the hospital.” Fangs added, he to stepped forward off the wall. Fangs stared at Jughead, pissed off. “You didn’t even get here till she was already discharged.”
“Do you even care?” Toni narrowed her eyes as she put the question out there.
“Of course I care.” Jughead scoffed looking over to his sister seeing her all bruised and bandaged, cut’s littered her face and neck. He could only imagine what was under her clothes. “What happened anyway? Who hurt you?”
Jughead’s lack of concern on his face and in his tone were shocking to everyone.
“Reggie and the rest of the bulldog’s. That’s who.” Y/n spat at her brother. How could he be so nonchalant about this?!
“Are you okay?” he asked although there wasn't any concern in his voice. That’s obvious.
Do I look okay?!” Y/n yelled not believing her brother just could stand there in front of her looking at her all injured and not seem to care at all. “I’m hurt, bruised, bleeding and broken. I’m in pain and one of the people I wanted here for me was my brother and he couldn’t even bother!”
“Why’d they attack you?” Jughead asks, pointing at his sister.
“Why?” Sweet Pea copied Jughead’s words while clenching his fists.
“Yes, why? I’m sure it was a misunderstanding.” Jughead himself narrowed his eyes at the taller serpent.
“They targeted me, Jughead.” Y/n spoke up, getting more upset with her brother by the minute.
“Did they think you were someone else?” Jughead was trying to find a solution as to why the Bulldogs would do this.
It shocked and amazed all the serpents and not in a good way that Jughead instead of seeing his sister and caring or wanting revenge he would try to defend the one’s recognizable for almost killing his own sister.
“Stop trying to make excuses for them!” Sweet Pea yelled, slamming his hand down on the nearest table. Which happened to be the table Toni and Y/n were sitting at.
Y/n reached for Sweet Pea’s hand, hoping to calm him down. To reassure him she was there. Before Y/n turned her gaze back to her brother.
“They followed me, they conquered me and they attacked me. They knew it was me, I was the intended target for their attack… And you don’t even care.” Y/n had tears welling up in her eye’s at recalling what had happened to her and that it seemed her brother could care less about her.
“What happened to my son that loved and protected his sister? Cause that’s not what I’m seeing.” FP shook his head, eyes filled with disappointment.
“Dad-” Jughead start’s with wide eyes at his father’s words.
“They hurt her and you're defending them, trying to find an out.” FP stated raising his voice, anger and pain obvious in his words as he spoke. “Get out Jughead.”
Jughead loaded at his dad like he was crazy. He wants him to leave! “What?”
“Get out of my home. Get out of my serpent den. Till you can care about your family again, get out.” FP had made his decision. He didn’t recognize his son right now.
Jughead looked around seeing how no one is opposing his fathers statements of kicking him out.
“Not that you care but they did this to send a message.” Toni tells Jughead before he turned to leave.
“They left a letter with me when they left me to wither in pain and almost die. It was a threat, and doing this to me was only the beginning.” Y/n told her brother with anger and sadness in her eye’s. Letting out an unamused laugh shaking her head. “Hope you enjoy your Northside friends Jughead. Since you apparently care more about them than your family.”
A tear ran down her check as she looked at her brother like a stranger.

Riverdale characters and their opinions on granking it
Archie -> supports Veronica and Jughead, doesn't listen to MCR all that much, and therefore takes the neutral stance that whatever his friends say is probably true and those men are divorced (was half listening to anything ever said to him)
Betty -> yeah go ahead and clock the peter pan collar with CoverGirl lipstick dramatically smeared off her face that's a MCR fan. Well known bisexual but deeply homophobic, therefore anybody who even mentions grank is a freak. YES she makes that disgusted look if somebody even mentions rpf, tries to tone it down for Veronica. Once got curious and read a 100k grank fem au, printed it out, ate a page, and then set it on fire at 2am.
Veronica -> Catholic 💥 Bisexual 💥 Dresses frequently in dark colors 💥 Casually morbid 💥 Loves theater 💥 not only does she grank it but my girl puts on her reading glasses to scroll through old live journal posts like she's a hardboiled detective ready to lock into the facts of the matter. "Jughead I could use another pair of eyes on this" it's 240p footage of those men fighting on stage. She keeps sending lesbo grank fics to Betty followed by "lol sorry meant for Jug." To which Betty responds "V. 😑"
Jughead -> [11am] violently typing a reply on a google doc for his creative writing class "I take offense at your claim that this is derivative of Velvet Goldmine just because I'm playing with similar themes. As to your second point, Cheryl, this band is an entirely fictional amalgamation meant to represent how our culture interfaced with the purely symbolic icons of the era." [2pm] "You're totally right, Bets. Really wish people could just appreciate the artistry and think more meaningfully about the MESSAGE." [10pm] sitting at his typewriter in Veronica's speakeasy where an entire diagram is laid out before him "This goes beyond stage gay. I'm sure of it."
Cheryl -> TO MX. G: Visiting fabulous Cali for the next fortnight. May I place Julian in your care for an evening? Have been absolutely overwhelmed with requests to visit darling Rosy. Whatever day works best, I understand scheduling so last minute may be difficult with your various dalliances. Ta!
Toni -> Once a regular contributor to Friends of Frerard night at the speakeasy, but suspiciously stopped all attendance after a vacation with Cheryl.
Kevin -> couldn't even tell you a band member's name but, in an attempt to be included in a conversation about homosexuality, once showed up at the speakeasy and laughingly asked Veronica if it was anything like Simon & Garfunkel. Before she could respond Jughead threw a copy of What is it All But Luminous at his head and told him to get out if he couldn't even be bothered to hold himself to their same level of base academic rigour.

Sweet Pea x Fem OC
Pt. 2
archie andrews twin sister, delilah, is fed up with him being overprotective. so when a cute serpent offers her an opportunity, she can't turn it down
Tumblr media
Delilah hung onto him for dear life, terrified as they raced through the streets of riverdale. when they finally arrived at pops, delilah didn't think she had it in her to step off the bike. he pried her hands off him and helped her off. with her whole body trembling in fear she couldn't get the helmet strap undone. he once again helped her and took it off her head.
"i'm never doing that again," she said, flattening out her hair. he fixed a piece of her hair and gestured for her to follow him.
they walked through the doors and delilah surveyed the room for archie. he wasn't there.
"i'm gonna go wash my hands," she said excused herself. when she came back out, she came face to face with archie, veronica, jughead, and betty.
"hey girl," veronica said. "we were just about to sit down, do you wanna join us?"
"oh, no thanks V. i'm here with someone," delilah explained. "thank you for the offer though."
"o la la, does delilah andrews finally have a boy?" veronica asked.
"no," archie shot in. "no she does not."
"just between us girls," she whispered to veronica and betty. "kinda."
the girls all squealed at her admission.
"i don't wanna move to fast, and put labels on it, but i really like him," she lied through her teeth.
"well we won't keep you any longer," betty winked at her and started walking toward a booth.
"who?" archie demanded.
"none of your business," she walked away from him and towards sweet pea who was seated at the counter. when she took the seat next to him, archie sprinted across the room to them.
he ripped sweet pea out of his seat and they started yelling.
"what the fuck are you doing?" archie said.
"i'm here on a date," sweet pea responded.
"get away from my sister," archie shoved him and sweet pea shoved him back.
"you're being ridiculous," delilah said, stepping in front of sweet pea right as archie tried to push him again. she lost her balance and fell back into sweet pea hard. he caught her and rested his hand on her hip.
"don't touch her," archie said.
"i think i'll do what i want."
archie lunged at sweet pea but jughead held him back.
"sit down," veronica demanded. "leave her alone, archie."
"this isn't over," archie threatened before walking back to a booth.
sweet pea turned her around and leaned her back against the counter.
"not so bad, right?" he whispered. she shrugged lightly and he pulled her in for a hug. "is he watching?"
"mhm," delilah hummed into his chest. after a few seconds he pulled away slightly, their hips still pressed together. he looked at her carefully before raising his hand to her chin and gently kissing her.
"why him?" archie sat at his booth, fuming as he watched his sister.
"he's not without charm, archiekins," veronica said. "why are you so opposed to her dating anyway?"
"every boy in this town is an asshole," archie said.
"you live in this town," betty pointed out.
"i know."
"you're mainly upset because he's a serpent," jughead scoffed.
"yeah, jug. and he tried to hurt me. he showed up at my house and tried to fight me," archie complained. "why does he like her anyway? he hates northsiders."
"well, for starters, delilah is drop dead gorgeous. like even i've had thoughts about her," veronica admitted, resulting in a disgusted look from archie. "but, also, she's kind. she doesn't judge the southsiders, at least not outwardly."
"i think it's sweet," betty said.
"how? how is that sweet?" archie asked, slamming his fork down.
"he's willing to fight for her. he must know she doesn't date because you don't let her. just be happy for her, arch," betty explained.
"it just doesn't feel right," archie shook his head. "i can't shake the feeling he's using her to get back at me."
"not all serpents are the horrible people you make them out to be," jughead chimed in.
"can you blame me for thinking that?" archie practically yelled.
"i guess not. i'll talk to him," jughead told him.
"thanks jug."
archie watched as they left the diner and the only thing stopping him from following them was veronica sitting on the outside. but when he saw sweet pea hand the helmet to her he practically shoved her out and raced outside, his friends not far behind.
"absolutely not," he yelled. "she is not getting on that."
"calm down," veronica said.
"no, ronnie. a date is one thing but she can't get on that. she'll get hurt," he said. "i bet that's what you want though."
"excuse me," sweet pea stepped close to him.
"you heard me. i bet you're just itching to hurt her to get back at me."
"there's something wrong with you," sweet pea bit back.
"come on," she pulled sweet pea back. "he's not worth it."
"let's go," he mounted his bike and delilah followed him.
archie watched in anger as they rode away. he stormed back into pops, slammed money down on the table, and started running back home. when he got home, he went straight to delilah's room, but she wasn't there. he ran back down the stairs and found his dad in the kitchen.
"has 'lilah come back home?"
"no, i don't remember seeing her come in," fred responded. archie went back upstairs and called delilah. she didn't respond.
"god, he's annoying," delilah whined, putting her phone back in her pocket.
"i know," sweet pea said. they were sat on the edge of sweet water river, completely alone. "why doesn't he let you date?"
"i'm not really sure," delilah admitted. "something about all the boys being awful, i think. but i don't believe that."
"that's weird."
"i think he's trying to protect me, i mean he wouldn't ever leave my side growing up. but ever since he started dating veronica, he's been leaving me alone more, thank god."
"it still doesn't make sense though. you'd think he'd want you to have a boyfriend so he could protect you," sweet pea pointed out.
"i gave up on trying to understand my brothers mind a long time ago," she put a hand on his shoulder and sighed.
they sat there in silence, watching the river flow, for what felt like eternity before delilah spoke.
"it's getting late," she whispered. "it's dark and i'm cold."
"take my jacket," he took off his serpent jacket and handed it to her. "i'm sure your brother would love that."
"take me home," she said, snatching the jacket from him and pulling it over herself. she was practically drowning in it.
hé drove her back home and walked her up to her door. it wasn't that late but delilah didn't want to risk waking anyone up. she slowly crept up the stairs and entered her room. she found archie sitting on her bed.
"why him?"
"he asked me out," delilah said, crossing her arms.
"and you thought i would be okay with this?"
"archie, i have had enough with you thinking you can control my life. he likes me, and i like him. i'm not gonna let you ruin yet another relationship for me, i just won't," she was trying to be stern with him, but not be too loud. "now get out of my room," she pointed to the door.
"im not done with this," he said, heading for the door.
"yes, you are, archie. seriously leave me alone, you've done enough to hurt this family, dont add this to the list of things you'll be apologizing for for the rest of your life."

This post is a scheduled release. Wathever happened in the riverdale finale, it happened. Characters were gay for sure. My boy Archie, you did some things that resulted in your body harm but your soul remains that of a pure hero. Betty you were always meant to win the idgaf war in that town. Veronica you can have capitalism because as a daughter of Hiram you deserve the world. Jughead my pal I hope you find peace but also make war. Cheryl you were bigger than the whole sky and I forgive you because as a true fem lesbian you did nothing wrong. Reggie it was great knowing you as a rich straight boy and then as poor underdog bisexual. Gay Kevin.
Goodbye riverdale.

Chapter 1
Chapter 2 (This One)
Tumblr media
Chapter 2: Is it Called Kidnapping When You're Not a Kid?
The alarm screamed in a very annoying way, and Katie wanted to cover her ears but she was still tied to the damn chair. Luthor (sure, whatever, she didn't have a better thing to call the made-up villain in her obviously confused mind) dragged her chair to the middle of the room, practically tipping her over. He grabbed some duct tape off his desk, and wrapped it around her head three times. She could almost taste the glue and it muffled her so much that she barely heard the groan as she felt it stuck to the back of her hair. It would be a pain to get off. (Why was she even considering it? She just needed to wake up. Warm bath and then maybe not sleeping again for like, two weeks.)
She felt cold metal pressed against her head and realized, a little delayed, that it was a gun. Isn't that an idea? She saw a movie once where a character killed themselves in a dream and returned to the real world. She tilted her head against the barrel, a little bit, considering. She couldn't see Luthor's face, but as he pressed in harder, she wondered what he thought.
The room was thick was anticipation. He had stopped his monologuing and the only thing Katie could hear besides her heavy breathing was the persistent wailing of the alarm.
About ten minutes later, the large office doors flew open. Several bodies rushed in, Katie taken by the bright colors. She really was the best at imagination, she thought, a little smugly. When she was younger, she had wanted to be a writer, and before Matt firmly shot down that idea ("Pretty much a waste of your time, babe, isn't it?"), she always thought she could come up with a pretty good story. Maybe when all this was over, she could figure out how to write it all down.
The room was chaotic until it wasn't. Whether this was because they saw the gun to her head or were just being cautious of the man behind her, everyone stopped suddenly. Two tall figures (most likely male?) stood in front of the rest of the group. One was wearing a black suit with a blue bird and the other wearing a red helmet. Behind them was a young man in a red and black suit, and a smaller boy? wearing what she finally recognized as a Robin(?) suit. All of them had their faces covered in some sort of mask. There were three others behind them---a young man wearing a leather jacket with spikes, a smaller figure in red and white with goggles, and a young woman with blonde hair and a W on her costume. Katie's eyes were wide as she took in the cosplayers in front of her. She figured if Lex was a villain, maybe these guys were heroes and had no idea why her brain made them up. She knew only a few characters from comics---Batman, Superman, and Lex Luthor. Wonder Woman was a comic book character, right? The Joker? Spider Man. Um...Captain America? And some guy with a burlap sack on his head that Matt always said was his favorite. Who else? Maybe Archie and Jughead would show up soon.
"Lex." The man in blue said sternly.
"Ah, Nightwing. Forgive me for my disappointment, but this invitation was not for you or the rest of the...freaks with you." Katie watched as the boy in the jacket flinched slightly. His face didn't change though---all of them were staring with a mix of stoicism and anger.
"Well," the Nightguy said pleasantly, dangerously, "we received it anyway. I'm afraid those you did mean it for are out of contact right now." His eyes flicked to Katie and back to Luthor.
The man with a red helmet rested his hand on the gun attached to his hip. His voice came out gravelly and deep, almost machine like. "What do you want, Luthor?"
Katie felt the gun press against her temple harder. No one moved an inch but she felt several pairs of eyes land on her. She looked back curiously.
There was a gasp behind Helmet Head and Nightguy, coming from the Red and Black dude. He whispered something Katie couldn't hear.
Nightguy and Red Helmet stiffened a bit. Katie could hear the sneer in her captor's voice. "As you can see," he trailed his fingers down her chest slowly, stopping at the top of her bra, "this isn't a conversation for you."
Red and Black guy stepped forward, sounding bored for some reason. "It looks like this isn't a conversation for you, either, Lex. The League is off world right now. Don't you think this would mean a while lot more if you played this game with them?" He twirled the large staff in his hand. (Gandalf! That was a comic book character, right? Katie patted herself on the back for knowing something.) He then turned his back to them, which Katie thought was kind of stupid. "Not our circus, not our monkeys, right, guys? We've got bigger things to worry about." The room was still for a moment, until the man in the red helmet shrugged. "Sure, Red. What do you say, Big Bird?"
The Nightguy nodded sharply, never taking his eyes off Katie. "If you say so. We'll pass on your message, Lex." He twirled his finger in the air, some sort of nonverbal wrap it up and turned around and just fucking walked out. Every single one of them.
Katie, who was getting frustrated with the duct tape wrapped around her face, must have managed to show enough confusion in her eyes that even the bald villain seemed to pity her. He put away his gun and scoffed, ripping the tape from her face and around her hair without any warning. She yelped and tears sprung to her eyes. Several strands were tugged out with the violent ungagging and she couldn't help but whine. Luthor laughed meanly. "Smarter than they look. I don't fully believe it, but I'll find out if they were lying soon, I gather. Go to sleep, darling. We'll try again later." The last thing she felt was a prick in her neck.
----
Katie woke up in a different room than her first cell, and definitely not in Luthor's office. It was about the size of a walk-in closet and carpeted. The door was locked, but there was a small pallet with a thin blanket and a bucket in the corner. A plate with a peanut butter sandwich and a small cup with water was on a side table. She took a couple of bites and downed the water and then sat on the pallet. She had been dressed in a pair of sweatpants and large black shirt, and she was determined not to think about who changed her.
She redid her ponytail and cleaned her glasses with her shirt, and then scooted back against the wall. Slowly, she started thumping her head against it, wondering how hard she'd need to hit it to wake up. Just before she could bang it harder, the handle on the locked door jiggled. Katie made herself smaller on the pallet, scooting further into the corner of the room. She was not ready for another round, even if it was all in her head.
The door opened slowly. But instead of Luthor, it was the small one she saw earlier, with goggles.
"AwesomeIknewyouwouldbehereItoldRedRobinthatIwouldfindyoufirstIcan'tbelieveitareyouok?" The words rushed out and Katie had a hard time keeping up. The kid looked at her, bouncing up and down from foot to foot.
"Um. Yes?" She hadn't caught the question, really, but hoped it was the right answer. Judging by his smile, it was.
"GreatI'mgoingtopickyouupnowandwearegoingtogetoutofherebeforetheplacegoesboomSuperboydecidedhe'ddothehonorsthistimetakethatLex!"
And before Katie could decode any of that, the guy grabbed her hand, tossed her on his back (despite how much bigger she was than him) and flew? ran? teleported? away. Katie actually didn't know what was happening because one moment she was in the weird closet and the next she was on top of a skyscraper watching a building across from her blow up. Her stomach lurched and she threw up.
"Impulse, did you even warn her?" Katie wiped her mouth with the bottom of her shirt and looked up. The young man in red and black was shaking his head in exasperation, while the other young man in the leather jacket was flying (!) next to him. Red stepped forward, his hand extended.
"Sorry about that, we had to work fast. I'm Red Robin. What's..." But Katie didn't hear the next thing because at that moment the tattoo on her chest flared in pain and she sunk to the ground. All she heard before she fainted were the shouts of surprise around her.

Riverdale has spooky Halloweens. It may be from the haunting spirits that walk the streets and get a booth in Pop’s Diner on the daily, or just because it’s Riverdale — and Riverdale is spooky. The Devil’s holiday was a year long thing in the town. Everyday felt like Halloween for civilians of the small town. You felt like your life was the holiday on repeat — you were just dressing as yourself with a fake mask.
You felt like Halloween wasn’t much of a big deal. The only thing you truly liked about it was the dressing up. The iconic Mean Girls quote bounced off the walls of your brain when you argued with your brother as you two got out of the car, “In Girl World, Halloween is the one day a year when a girl can dress up like a total slut and no other girls can say anything else about it.” You quoted to yourself and your brother beside you who rolled his eyes.
Your brother, Sweetpea, had been ranting about how you dressed too sexy and exposed, afraid some guy was going to try to make a pass at you. You were dressed as Lola Bunny from Looney Tunes, a character you had admired since you heard about her. The costume was more exposed than you generally dressed from day-to-day. Short shorts, a crop top that was basically a sports bra and bunny ears. “Come on, Sweets! Stop being like this, you know I never dress like this.”
“So why are you starting now?” He squinted his eyes at you. You know his argument was coming from a place of kindness and being the protective brother he was, but it was still annoying.
“Just give me a break, please?” You huffed, “By tomorrow, I’ll be back in my cute little Betty Cooper dress with a Serpent jacket, don’t you worry.” You rolled your eyes and poked the sides of your brooding brother who just rolled his eyes once more.
Then a thought popped into his small mind.
“You’re dressed like that for Cheryl Blossom.” He snapped his fingers in front of your face. The two of you were walking down the crowed driveway of Thistlehouse. It was the night of Halloween, and Cheryl Blossom had decided to throw a Halloween bash.
“I’m not.”
“You so are.”
“No I am not!”
“You’re blushing and everything!” He laughed and pointed at your blushing cheeks at the thought of your crush on the schools most popular girl. You have had a crush on Cheryl since the closing of Southside High and the enrollment to Riverdale High. You were expected to hate her because you were a Serpent, but you couldn’t help but be completely drawn in by her.
You never said anything about liking her to her ever, especially once she started dating Toni Topaz — one of your old kindergarten best friends. Your friendship had died out even if she was best friends with your brother and mutual friends.
The two of you got to the front door before inviting yourselves in, quickly seeing your close circle of friends by the corner.
“Y/N! Look at you!” Kevin whistled as the duo got closer. You blushed as your friends complimented you each, Veronica squeezing your arm, “Damn, you look hot!”
Archie rolled his eyes before taking Veronica by her hips and back into his chest, “Yeah, Y/N you look good. Great costume.” Him and Veronica dressed as Hercules and Megara.
“Thanks, Arch.”
“You look amazing, Y/N/N. I see you’re getting out your comfort zone.” Betty commented playfully as she took a sip from her red cup. You lightly chuckled before noticing her outfit as well, her and Jughead dressed as Sandy in the latex suit and Danny Zuko from Grease, “I could say the same to you, Betts. I see you’re in the last musical number of Grease.”
“Don’t I just look positively dashing in my costume?” Jughead sarcastically said, pushing out jazz hands towards you, referring to his Serpent leather jacket and sloppily slicked back hair. You rolled your eyes before taking the drink Sweetpea handed towards you, “Sure, Jug. Sure.”
After that, the group fell into light conversation that was filled with laughs and jokes. “I see Choni is back together.” Veronica commented, taking a sip of her alcohol as she eyed the ex-couple.
“What?” You furrowed your brows before glancing towards Sweetpea and looking behind you at the sight. You knew you never had an actual shot with Cheryl, but the fact she wasn’t dating Toni anymore helped the hope that filled in your chest that maybe, just maybe, she would like you back.
You felt like you couldn’t compete with a girl like Toni Topaz, who was perfect in every way.
Cheryl and Toni had a couples costume. The redhead was Poison Ivy while Toni was Harley Quinn. They looked perfect.
And yet.
You sighed and turned back around with a shrug, “They’re Choni, how could they not?”
No one else knew about your crush on Cheryl besides Sweetpea. It was stupid for you to tell him because he constantly made jokes about it and teased you til the sun rose. You expected him to hate you for it, but it was the opposite. He hadn’t seen you so head-over-heels for someone since your ex-girlfriend from Southside High, who thankfully got transferred to Seaside High. That relationship was the definition of a heartbreak mess.
“Have you guys seen what Ethel is wearing?” And just like that, the topic was dropped.
After you danced with Veronica and your friends a few times, you went outside to get fresh air and away from the sweaty bodies and atmosphere that surrounded you. You found a door by the dining table that lead to the quiet outside porch. When you slid the door open, Cheryl Blossom was leaning against the wooden railing with a cigarette between her fingers and a face of confusion.
You thought about going inside but as soon as you turned, she spoke to you. “You can join me, if you want. I don’t bite.” She took another hit from her cigarette before her arm hung over the side of the railing lazily, she blew the smoke with a soft cloud.
“I didn’t take you as a smoker.”
She shrugged, “Daddy smoked all the time before he died. So did Jason.” she cleared her throat, looking off to the dark, midnight distance, “I don’t usually smoke.”
You nodded before taking your spot beside her, your forearms leaning against the wooden banister like she was. She held the cigarette in front of you, offering it to you. You took it before placing it in your lips — you felt her watching you. “I didn’t take the golden girl of the Southside as a smoker either.”
You blew the smoke from your lips easily, “I grew up in a biker gang, what did you expect?” The two of you lightly giggled before you shook your head, “I actually got smoking from my father too. He does it everyday, all the time. Our trailer, clothes, furniture — all of it, smells like his cigarettes. They’re so normal that you even get burned with them.”
The redhead rose her eyebrows before glancing towards you, who now looked into the midnight distance. You glanced at her, her brown eyes melting into your own. “I tend to overshare.” You airily chuckled before passing the cigarette back to the redhead.
“According to Toni, I don’t share enough.” She quietly scoffed. You smiled towards the redhead with a smirk, “Aw, trouble in paradise?”
She rolled her eyes at you, “Shut up.”
“I was just joking, Cheryl.” You laughed at the small pout on her lips. “If you, like, need to talk .. I’m here.”
She looked over at you and sighed, a few beats of silence, “I broke up with her because I was attracted to someone else and I couldn’t disrespect Toni with having feelings for her and someone else. And .. we didn’t plan on going as Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn together it just . . . happened.”
You couldn’t lie and say your heart didn’t sing at the fact she was indeed single and she had a crush on someone that could be you. “What’s the problem besides an accidental couples costume.”
“I’m not sure the girl I like, likes me back.” She looked at you with masked hopeful eyes. She wanted some type of clue to see if you liked her back, but you kept up tall, guarded walls around you when it came to romance and relationships. There was a rumor you had a thing for Veronica, but that was quickly denied. But even after that, the towns most strategic and sneakiest gossips couldn’t get to the bottom of who the golden girl from the Southside wanted to truly date and fall in love with.
You glanced at her with a shrug, “Tell her you like her. If she doesn’t, then she’s simply a fool.” You left it at that and walked back inside where you felt like you took your first true deep breath.
“Y/N! Where were you? We should dance!” Veronica took your hand and tried guiding you into the pool of sweaty, drunk high schoolers but you were pulled away by your other hand and pushed into someone.
You were pulled into Cheryl’s chest, you hands on the side of her shoulders to catch yourself.
The next thing you knew, she had her hand on your cheek, a hand on your waist and her lips on yours. It was warm, and gentle, a kiss you had been dreaming and imagining about since the middle of sophomore year. “Are you a fool, Y/N?” She mumbled when the two of you pulled away.
You cheeks were red, your pupils were dilated and your skin burned with her touch. “I suppose not, Blossom.” The two of you smiled before she kissed you again, and again, and again.
The entire night was filled with dancing, Cheryl Blossom with her hands on your waist as you refilled your cup of alcohol, and the never ending teasing of your friends.
Maybe Halloween wasn’t as terrible as you thought it would be.

Fangs and I have lived together for about a month now, and in that month I’ve managed to hide the fact that I fucking hate my body. No one knew and I was too worried about being judged to tell anyone. I knew deep down that Fangs would never judge me, I mean we’ve been dating for three years now, but the voices always win in the end. So that’s why I spend a lot of time in the bathroom whenever Fangs goes out without me.
“I’ll be back in a bit, babe!” Fangs called. He was going out with Pea for a job with the Serpents.
“Okay! Be careful!” I called back. Ironic I’m telling him to be careful when I sit at home and throw everything up.
“I will, love you!” He said.
“Love you too!” I said and heard the door close behind him. I waited a bit to make sure Fangs wouldn’t walk back in because he forgot something. The last time that happened I pretended to shower so he wouldn’t hear me. Once I was sure he wouldn’t come back I got off our bed and walked into the bathroom. I pulled out the scale and took a deep breath before I stepped on it. I closed my eyes and tried my best not to shake. I took another calming breath and slowly peeled my eyes open to look at the horrid number. 130 pounds… I sighed, at least I lost two pounds since yesterday. I didn’t really eat anything yesterday. Or the day before. Or the day before that. In fact, I couldn’t really remember the last time I ate a proper meal in which I didn’t throw up a few hours later while Fangs was asleep. It was probably a year ago? Someone at school made a comment about me that I brushed off in the moment, but it was like a silent switch flipped in my brain. After that, I went home and stared at the mirror, noticing all the imperfections about myself. That was the day I decided to lose weight. When normal methods weren’t working, I turned to the extreme. It was the only thing that gave me results… It didn’t help that I started comparing myself to people Fangs talked to. The girls were way prettier than I am. The boys were skinnier than me. I couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that Fangs chose me out of everyone. I couldn’t think of any reasons that Fangs stayed with me all this time, or even why he asked me to move in with him after my trailer burnt down. Don’t get me wrong, I’m so happy with Fangs, but something in my head just isn’t on the same page as my heart.
I sighed and looked down at the number once again. 130 pounds. It was below the average weight of my age group, but 120 or even 110 would be way better. I stepped off the scale and looked at myself in the mirror.
Look at your thighs, they’re so fat. Don’t forget that huge stomach of yours. Did you see that girl he was talking to at the bar last week? Now she was perfectly skinny. The perfect body.
I sighed and ran my fingers over my body. Fat. That was all I could feel. I was fucking fat. No matter how little I eat, or how much I worked out. I will always be fat. Fat and fucking ugly. I would never be perfect like those people Fangs talk to. I took off my clothes and looked in the mirror again. I stared at my stomach. Even though the scale says I got smaller, to me it looks like my stomach has grown another twenty pounds. My stomach growled as I lightly touched it. I hated the hunger pains, but the feeling of emptiness was too addictive. I love feeling like I finally was in control of my body. I moved my hands down to my thighs and felt the small scars that were slightly raised. When I first started that’s how I would punish myself when the workouts didn’t work, or if I gained another pound or two. That didn’t last long since Toni found out and told Fangs. I wasn’t too attached to the cutting, so that was easy to stop. The sharp pain as the razor glided through my skin, pulling beads of crimson up through the cut, wasn’t as good as the starving. It didn’t make me feel better like not eating. I shook my head and glanced over at the toilet. I’ve become very acquainted with it. My head was shoved inside it at least twice a day. Sure my stomach was empty, but I knew I could still get some stuff out of me. I kneeled down and gently lifted the lid. I stared down into the toilet and took a few breaths. Throwing up on an empty stomach always hurt, but it was worth it to lose those few pounds. I opened my mouth and took my pointer finger into my mouth. I slowly pushed it to the back of my throat and gagged once I found the spot. I was good at not pulling my finger out when I gagged now, so I just kept pushing on it. My stomach was screaming in pain as it tightened with each gag. It took a few minutes, but eventually, I felt the burning creep up my throat. I pulled my finger out and leaned over the toilet. I watched as the bile flew into the water and already felt a little lighter. It wasn’t much, but every little bit helps. I took a few breaths to recover and quickly pushed my finger back inside my mouth. Once again it took a bit, but I eventually threw up more bile. It still wasn’t enough though. I kept going and going until my head started to spin. I felt really dizzy and weak, but it was working. I felt lighter. I kept going until black dots invaded my vision. I fell back on my ass and held my head.
“J-Jus-st a b-bi-it mo-ore…” I slurred to myself. I tried to get back up so I could finish, but I just fell to the floor more and my vision turned completely black…
*Fangs POV*
I walked back into the trailer with a smile as I carried some Pop’s for me and Y/N. I placed the bags and drinks on the coffee table and noticed Y/N wasn’t there. Must be in our room with her laptop or something.
“Babe, I’m back! I brought Pop’s.” I called but got no answer.
“Baby?” I called again, thinking she couldn’t hear me. Still nothing.
“Y/N, you asleep or something?” I said as I walked towards our bedroom. She wasn’t there. I furrowed my brows and wondered if maybe she went out with Toni or something. I pulled out my phone and called her. I heard her phone ring and followed it to the bathroom. I quickly hung up and walked over to the bathroom. The shower wasn’t running so she should have heard me.
“Y/N? Baby? You in there?” I asked as I gently knocked. No answer. My heart started pounding faster and I quickly opened the door. I stopped in shock as I stared inside the bathroom. Y/N was lying on the floor, looking unnaturally skinny and there was vomit in the toilet. I quickly rushed over to her and checked her pulse. The small thump from her neck made me sigh in relief. I carefully pushed my hands under her and lifted her up. I gasped when I felt how light she was. How did I not notice how much weight she lost? How did I not notice how her bones were starting to be visible through her skin. I shuddered and felt tears pushing themselves to the surface. How the hell could I be such a shitty boyfriend and not realize the love of my life was putting herself in so much danger. I carefully made my way to our room and gently laid her down. I grabbed one of my shirts and carefully put it on her, she was drowning in it. I tucked her in so she wouldn’t get cold and checked that she was breathing again. I sighed and left to deal with the bathroom. Once I was done cleaning I grabbed her some water and placed it on the nightstand. I pulled up a chair and sat next to her. I stoked her hair and tried my hardest to think of what could have made her do this, or even when she started. I blamed myself for not seeing anything different. I believed every smile Y/N always put on. Every laugh she made. How the hell did I not see anything!? I tried to calm myself down, but I was so angry with myself. Maybe even a very small part of me was mad at her for not coming to me, but I pushed that away. I shouldn’t be mad at her, she needs me more than ever. I grabbed my phone and decided to call Toni and see if she knew anything about this.
“Hey Fangs, what’s up?” She answered after the second ring.
“Did you notice anything off about Y/N lately?” I asked, getting right to the point.
“Uh, no? Why? What’s up?” She asked, worry clear in her voice.
“I came home and she was passed out in the bathroom with vomit in the toilet. She’s really fucking skinny Toni…” I said, feeling a tear involuntarily fall down my cheek.
“What? How skinny?” She asked.
“Like I can see her ribs starting to poke out.” I answered and she gasped.
“W-What? H-How?” She asked and I sighed.
“I don’t know, T. I didn’t notice anything different…” I said quietly.
“How? Have you guys not… ya know?” She asked and my eyes widened.
“We’ve both been busy, but every time she’s just wanted to ya know, please me…” I said and felt my stomach turn slightly. She’s been hiding this for so long…
“Shit Fangs, are you at the hospital? Want me and Pea to come by?” She asked and I shook my head.
“I just have my bike and I-I don’t know what the hell they’ll do to her. I’m scared to take her there. What if they say she’s dying, or they lock her up, or I don’t know…” I sighed.
“Fangs if she’s really bad you’ve gotta take her to the hospital, they’ll help her.” She said, gently.
“Toni I can’t, what if she never forgives me for that? Clearly, she’s been hiding this for a while I don’t want her to hate me…” I said, fully crying by now.
“Listen, Fangs, you wanna help her, right?” She asked with a sigh.
“Yes…” I whispered.
“Then you gotta take her. I’ll call Pea and we can use his truck, okay?” She asked and I shook my head again.
“Can’t I just wait till she wakes up? They’re gonna keep her there for who knows how long.” I said and she sighed.
“I don’t think you should wait. What if this isn’t the first time she’s passed out?” She asked and my eyes widened. I didn’t think about that.
“J-Just let me wait till she wakes up first. Let me talk to her.” I begged and she sighed.
“Fine, but you call me after, you got it?” She asked.
“I promise.” I said and she sighed again.
“I’m still calling Pea and letting him know what’s going on.” She said and I sighed.
“Fine, just keep him from barging in, I don’t wanna scare her.” I said and she agreed. We said our goodbyes and hung up.
I sat there in silence as I just stared at Y/N. I couldn’t stop thinking about how awful I am for not noticing anything. She hid it really well, which hurt. I had stopped crying but didn’t bother wiping my face. I just held her hand and stared at her. That’s when she started shifting. She slowly opened her Y/E/C and looked around for a moment before they landed on my dark brown ones. Neither of us moved or made a sound, just stared at the other.
“I’m sorry…” She mumbled after a moment. She looked down and a tear rolled down her cheek.
“Never. I mean never, do that again.” I choked out as my tears returned. Y/N looked up silently and reached up with her other hand to wipe away my tears.
“You shouldn’t cry over me, I’m not worth it…” She whispered as she continued to caress my cheek. I felt the anger return and pulled back from her.
“No Y/N! Don’t you ever think that! You’re more than worth it, you’re my perfect girl. I don’t understand why you even thought you needed to lose weight in the first place, but you’ve always been perfect! You’re beautiful, funny, caring, and amazing! I love you, I always have. I can’t stand seeing you do this to yourself when you don’t need to. I saw what was in the toilet, when was the last time you ate?” I asked and she had more tears falling down her gorgeous face.
“I-I don’t know. Yesterday at lunch? I don’t know. I-I…” She started crying harder. I pulled her in for a gentle hug and stroked her hair.
“How long have you been doing this babe?” I whispered.
“A-A ye-year…” She answered between sobs. My heart broke and I sighed. I held her for a bit longer and gently pulled her back once she calmed down a bit.
“Baby, you need to eat and actually keep it down. You need to get better, Y/N. Please.” I said and she shook her head.
“I-I can’t! Looking at all those people that you talk to, they’re so much prettier than me! They’re skinnier, hotter, cooler, everything! Those people at school made me realize that I’m never going to be like them. I’m never going to be good enough for you…” She said, sobbing into her hands. My eyes widened as I stared at her. Who the fuck said that to her? She’s always been perfect, my everything… I gently pulled her hands away and tried to catch her eyes, but she avoided me.
“Y/N, look at me, please?” I asked quietly. She looked up and she looked so broken.
“Y/N Y/L/N, I love you more than anything. I always have and I always will. No one in this damn world could ever compare to you, baby. You’ve always been my number one and I have never even thought of another person. Guy or girl. You don’t need to change yourself just because some jealous bitch said something to you. I will always love you no matter what.” I said and she sobbed.
“Do you mean it?” She asked in a broken whisper.
“Every word baby. I promise you that I love you with every piece of my heart. I just want you to get better right now. You passed out Y/N, do you know how scared I was?” I asked quietly.
“I’m sorry… I’m so sorry…” She cried and I pulled her into my chest.
“Shhh, it’s okay baby. You don’t have to be sorry okay? We’re gonna get you some help and get you better, okay?” I asked and she nodded.
“Now, I gotta call Toni and tell her you woke up before she and Pea come breaking down the door.” I said and her eyes widened.
“Y-You told Toni and Pea?” She asked with more tears falling.
“I called to see if Toni noticed anything with you, I was so worried Y/N.” I said, caressing her cheek and wiping the tears. She closed her eyes and leaned into my touch.
“Toni wanted me to take you to the hospital and I know I should have, but I just didn’t want to lose you.” I admitted and she looked up at me.
“I’m so sorry, Fangs…” She said and I shook my head.
“You don’t need to be sorry, baby.” I said and kissed her forehead.
“Now let me call Toni and maybe I can convince her to not take you to the hospital, but you have to eat a bit of the Pop’s I brought home, deal?” I asked and she nodded while taking a shaky breath.
“I’m not gonna make you eat all of it, but you need to eat at least a little okay? We’ll work on this slowly.” I said and she nodded.
“O-Okay…” She whispered. I smiled and kissed her head once more before I went to get the food. When I walked back in she was fiddling with her hands. She looked up and I saw her sniff the air subtly. Her stomach growled and I smiled slightly. I walked over and placed the food on her lap, but left the milkshake in the other room. It would be way too heavy for her right now, even if she did love them.
“I got your favorite, but I think we’re gonna skip the milkshake today and just stick with water, alright?” I asked and she nodded. Her shaky hands took out the burger and fries and gently laid them on the blanket.
“Alright, I’m gonna sit right here and call Toni and you’re gonna start eating, okay?” I asked and she nodded. I pulled out my phone and called Toni as I watched Y/N slowly start to eat the cold fries. I watched as she put the first one in her mouth and she moaned slightly. I smiled as she continued eating them.
“Fangs! Is she awake?” Toni answered.
“Yeah, she’s awake.” I answered and I heard her sigh.
“Perfect, I’m with Pea and Juggie right now and we have the truck so we’ll be over in a few and we can take her to the hospital.” She said as I heard movement from her side.
“I don’t think we’re gonna need to take her to the hospital.” I said as I watched her pick up the burger. She took a bite and her eyes rolled to the back of her head. I chuckled and smiled at her.
“Fangs she passed out, she needs to go to the fucking hospital.” Toni said, slightly annoyed.
“I think we can deal with this ourselves, T.” I said and she groaned.
“Seriously? You agreed to take her to the hospital when she woke up.” She said and I sighed.
“Just come over and see, I promise we got this.” I said and she sighed.
“Fine, we’re already on our way.” She said and hung up. I hung up and saw Y/N was halfway done with the burger.
“Slow down babe.” I said with a small chuckle. She blushed and looked over at me.
“Sorry…” She mumbled and I smiled at her.
“Don’t be, I know you’re hungry, but like I said we gotta take it slow.” I said and she nodded.
A few minutes later, our front door was opening. We heard three sets of footsteps coming towards us and Y/N looked scared. I grabbed her hand and gently gave her a reassuring squeeze. The door opened and in walked Toni, Pea, and Jughead. They all looked at Y/N with wide eyes and Toni rushed over to her other side. She pulled her in for a hug, which Y/N returned.
“Are you crazy? Starving yourself or throwing shit up, whichever. How long has this been going on, huh?” Toni asked and Y/N looked down in shame.
“Toni, relax. We already talked about it and look she’s already eating.” I said and grabbed Y/N’s hand again.
“I’m sorry…” Y/N said quietly again.
“Babe I already told you, you don’t need to be sorry.” I said.
“No Fangs is right, sorry Y/N/N, I’m just worried.” Toni said, taking a seat on the bed next to her.
“We all are.” Jones said. She looked up at Pea and Jughead and they each smiled at her.
“Yeah, so who ass do I need to beat for starting this shit?” Pea asked and Toni rolled her eyes. Y/N laughed and I smiled at her.
“If I’m honest I don’t even remember who said something…” She said and blushed slightly.
“I just know it was about a year ago and that’s when I started looking at myself differently. I just hate how I look and constantly compare myself to everyone else and…” She trailed off.
“Wait, that’s when you started cutting, were you doing this too?” Toni asked and Y/N shook her head.
“No, I started after you guys helped with that…” She said with a guilty tone.
“Oh Y/N…” Toni said and pulled her in for another hug.
“I’m so-”
“Nope, don’t you dare apologize.” Toni said, cutting her off.
“Yeah, we’re sorry for not noticing anything.” Jones said and Y/N shook her head.
“I hid it, there was no way you guys could have known. I mean I was wearing clothes that were a bit too big for me so you guys wouldn’t see my weight change.” She said and we all looked at each other. That explains a bit.
“We’ll that’s fucking over, let’s go get you some more food.” Pea said and she shook her head.
“I’m kind of full.” She said and I placed the rest of the food on the nightstand.
“That’s okay, like I said, slow.” I said and she nodded with a small smile.
“Fangs is right, we gotta take this slow, but we’re all here for you and we’re gonna help every step of the way.” Toni said with a smile. Pea and Jones also nodded and Y/N teared up.
“You guys are the best and I’m really so-”
“Stop apologizing Y/N/N, or I’m gonna kick your ass.” Pea said and she laughed a real genuine happy laugh. We all smiled at her and I gently squeezed her hand. This might be a hard and long road ahead, but we would all support her every step. I think she finally realized that she’s amazing and if not we would all be here to remind her.

Staking A Claim | Reggie Mantle
Tumblr media
[gif is not mine; all credit to the creator]
Word Count: 1K
Pairing: Reggie Mantle x Fem!Reader, 2nd person POV
Description: Nobody knows the two of you are dating, until Reggie decides to stake a claim
Warnings: implied sexy things, sneaking around, intimidation
A/N: I’ve written something similar for Frausto from All American, but I wanted to change it up and reuse the idea. No spoilers, as this is just a snippet of time that takes place at Riverdale High and I’m only on season 3 of the show
- - -
You stepped out of the women’s locker room after football practice, your sore muscles aching with every step. You were snug in Reggie’s ‘Riverdale Bulldogs Football’ hoodie, the thought of wearing it in plain sight giving you a little thrill. Nobody knew the two of you were together, and if anyone were to ask about the slightly bigger size to the hoodie, you knew you would just lie and say you’d ordered a bigger size because you wanted it. Not that anyone would ask you about it; being the only girl on the football team was enough to intimidate about two-thirds of your class. It didn’t matter that you were only on the football team because there wasn’t anyone else who’d scored more points than you - or because you wanted the off-season practice outside of soccer - running with the football team gave you a different kind of power in the Riverdale High hierarchy.
Hot Killer by Julia Wolf played through your headphones as you sauntered down the hall to the student lounge, hoping to grab a VigorAde from the vending machine before heading home. You made no acknowledgement of the people there, heading straight for what you wanted.
*~*~*~
“D’you think she can hear us?” Kevin Keller asked, eyeing your turned back.
“Even if she can, what makes you think she’d say anything to us?” Betty shot back, looking to her boyfriend for some support.
“Sometimes I wonder if she realizes that people think she’s scarier than Cheryl Blossom, pre-Toni,” Jughead mused, running a soothing hand up and down Betty’s thigh.
Reggie shifted uncomfortably in his seat, hoping he wasn’t giving anything away. “Guys, she’s not that bad. Serious and intense, yes, but not that bad.”
Archie scoffed and rolled his eyes. “Normally, I’d agree with you about one of our teammates, but she’s just built different. I don’t care that she’s the main reason we beat Centerville last week or that she’s captain of the women’s soccer team when the season is over, I agree with Jug: she’s scary.”
“I’m telling you you’re wrong.” Reggie could feel his anger and frustration rising, unsure why he wanted people he considered friends to like her.
Veronica arched a perfectly-manicured eyebrow. “Methinks the football player doth protest too much.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Reggie huffed, leaning forward. His gaze flickered to your back for the briefest of moments but of course Veronica caught that.
“Vee is right,” Betty muttered, sitting up a little straighter as she put her detective brain to good use.
“What aren’t you telling us, Reg?” Archie prodded, joining in on the questioning.
“I-”
*~*~*~
You smiled to yourself when your favorite flavor of VigorAde dropped down from the machine. You opened it, taking a long swig as you debated whether or not to grab something to eat. It was a stall tactic more than anything; you knew when people were talking about you and this time was no exception - except for the fact that your secret boyfriend happened to be among them.
Your playlist started on the next song, but you subtly pressed pause, wanting to be able to hear what was going down behind your back. You could hear Reggie defending you, your heart constricting at the warmth spreading through your chest. Betty and Veronica were right, you thought, taking another drink of VigorAde, Reggie was definitely protesting too much for someone claiming to just be defending a teammate.
“What aren’t you telling us, Reg?” You heard Archie ask as you finally turned around.
Your gaze met Reggie’s as he opened his mouth to respond. “I-”
“He isn’t lying to you, Andrews,” you cut in, drawing attention to yourself now. “There’s nothing to tell.”
Reggie’s eyes narrowed as he studied you, and you couldn’t tell if he was hurt or confused or both. The two of you had previously made a pact to keep your relationship a secret, but lately he’d been hinting at the possibility of going public. “Like hell there isn’t,” he growled, standing up and stalking towards you. To anyone else it would be scary or intimidating, but you knew Reggie better than anyone - even Moose, he’d confessed to you one - and knew that this was all just for show. He reached out and placed a hand on your cheek so softly that it took every ounce of your willpower not to close your eyes and lean into his touch. “Care to tell the truth?”
Calmly, you reached up and grabbed Reggie’s wrist, taking his hand off your cheek. “You really wanna do this right here, right now?”
Reggie shrugged, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. “It’s as good a time as any, I’d say. Unless you’re scared?”
The challenge in his tone had you rising to the occasion, always fighting to prove yourself and Reggie knew that. “Me? Scared? Never.”
“Prove it,” Reggie smirked, both hands grabbing your hips and pulling you flush against him. “Kiss me. Show everyone you’re mine and I’m yours.”
“Okay, okay,” Kevin’s voice rang out as he stood up, reminding you that it wasn’t just you and Reggie in the student lounge. “This has gone on long enough, and I, for one, don’t want to be witness to whatever the hell this weird sexual power dynamic is that’s happening.”
You rolled your eyes. “Oh shut up, Keller.” That interruption had been all you needed to get your shit together, dragging Reggie down for a public heated kiss.
When the kiss ended, Reggie pressed his forehead against yours as he tried to catch his breath. “Fuck,” he whispered, swallowing hard, “that was-”
“I know,” you replied, giggling. “Guess the cat’s out of the bag now, huh?” You peered over your no-longer-secret boyfriend’s broad shoulders to marvel at the shocked faces in front of you. “What are you all gawking at?!” You questioned, your intimidating persona back with a vengeance.
The group got up to leave and Reggie turned to his friends. “I’ll catch up with you later.”
Once it was just the two of you alone in the student lounge after hours, Reggie took your hand and led you to the couch, sitting back and manspreading so you had no choice but to straddle him. His hands returned to your waist, sliding up underneath his hoodie. “Now,” he murmured, his voice thick with lust, “where were we?”

Warning: Stalker, stalking behaviour, stalker breaking and entering
As the fight broke out you covered your ears and gasped. The sound of the first punch cracked the air like a whip. Backing through the crowd you bumped into someone. In the dim light and from the mask they were wearing you realised it was Sweet Pea.
“I want to get out of here.” You said and grabbed his hand. Silently he led you away from the fighting and towards the woods in the direction of Pop’s, you assumed at first. “I don’t think this is the way to Pop’s.” You said after a while. The mask wearer looked back at you and silently pointed toward the trees.
“(Y/N)!” You heard bellowed out. There was a loud rustle and Jughead whipped out of the forest, spreading torn branches and leaves into the air and he used his jacket to protect himself. You were so startled by his sudden appearance that you let go of Sweet Pea’s hand. When you turned back to him he’d gone. “I found (Y/N)!” Jughead yelled.
“I wasn’t lost? I was going to Pop’s with Sweet Pea.” You said and frowned when Sweet Pea emerged from where Jughead had moments before.
“How did you get over there so quickly?” You asked. Sweet Pea frowned, and glanced at Jughead then at you.
“What’re you talking about? Someone went off with you into the woods.” He insisted. You frowned but didn’t have time to press the issue as Sweet Pea tightly gripped your arm and steered you in the opposite direction as Fangs and Toni marched past.
“We’ll find them!” Toni yelled. Several more serpents hurried past. You found yourself marched back out of the woods the way you came and towards Sweet Pea’s bike.
“I don’t understand!” You complained and yanked your arm from Sweet Pea’s. “Sweet Pea went that way with me to Pop’s. He had the mask that Sweet Pea wore at the Halloween party earlier and he had his jacket on.”
“They had a serpent jacket?” Jughead asked.
“Yes.” You said in a sarcastically sing-song voice, irritated that no one seemed to be taking you seriously.
“(Y/N). Sweet Pea was with me the whole time.” Betty said as she glanced around at the group and gave you a sympathetic look.
"You’re telling me the person in the mask isn’t Sweet Pea! Ew, I held their hand!" You said and rubbed your hand on your shirt before looking at them all curiously. “Well, then who was it?”
“We don’t know but I’m sure Toni will get them. If she doesn’t I will.” Veronica said. She looked furious. Now no one wanted to attend it anymore. Trust some random person in Riverdale to spoil the fun. She decided that she’d find someone and move the party to your house as a surprise. Only people she knew would be allowed through the door.
“You’re sure they were wearing a Southside Serpents jacket? A Riverdale one?” Archie asked. He’d stepped away to fill in Reggie who hurried off with a few friends after Toni and Fangs.
“Yes. He was dressed exactly like Sweet Pea. Exactly what he had on. Also, he was wearing the same cologne.” You explained. Jughead looked a bit worried at that and shrugged.
“Well. Why don’t you go home with Sweet Pea just in case they were after you for something? You’ve helped me and Betty solve enough mysteries that it could be the case. I’m sure it’s just some Halloween prank and we’ll all be at Ronnie’s party in no time.” Jughead suggested. You agreed and went with Sweet Pea. he pulled up the seat of his bike and pulled out the helmet he kept for you. Toni had drawn some cool designs on it for you a while back.
You and Sweet pea headed back to your house. You passed the time by watching some Halloween cartoons. After a while, your phone rang.
“Hello?” You said.
“Hey! It’s Toni. You need to make sure all your doors and windows are locked.” She said frantically. You frowned and put her on speaker.
“Why? What happened?” You asked.
“Jug is on his way to explain, just make sure you’re locked in!” Toni insisted. The tone of her voice had Sweet Pea vaulting over the sofa and hurrying to check the doors and windows downstairs. He even went room to room, checking no one was hiding in the house. Jughead arrived not too long later. FP was with him. He looked rather grim as he waited at the end of your pathway.
“What happened?” Sweet Pea asked. He stepped just outside of your doorway, forcing you to stay inside a little.
“Look. urm. It’s. It's bad.” Jughead said. His voice sounded odd. Off. Uncomfortably strained as if he was incredibly worried.
“Just spit it out, Jug!” You complained. He didn’t say anything. Just reached into his pocket. He handed Sweet pea a big folded lump of paper. When Sweet Pea infolded it you could both see photocopies of polaroid pictures.
“These are all of (Y/N).” Sweet pea muttered as he flicked through them. You felt a little sick. “This. Jug. This is the side of (Y/N)’s bedroom. This is (Y/N) asleep upstairs…” Sweet Pea’s voice changed from shocked to furious.
“We know. There were more in the campervan. He has a whole setup in the woods. It looks like he was planning on taking (Y/N).” Jughead said quietly to Sweet Pea. bile rose in your throat as your chest tightened. You noticed that FP flagged someone down and several bikes pulled up next to his car.
“Ok Jug.” FP called. Alice pushed him aside and hurried up the steps. Betty was close behind her with Veronica stopping so furiously that her high heels managed to dislodge one of the paving stones of your garden path.
“You go in and pack. You’re staying with me and Betty ok. FP is going to stay here with some friends in case this creep comes back.” Alice said as she led you inside. While she and Betty went around downstairs and gathered things you’d need for a long stay with them, you tried to head upstairs. You got halfway up before a horrible unease set over you.
“I’ll come.” Sweet Pea said as he hurried up to meet you and put a hand on your back. Nodding you went up. He helped you pack your things and carried some of your bags downstairs. He hugged you as you let Betty take your things to her mom's car.
“We’ll get this all sorted.” He said as you pulled away. His face was stern and his jaw clenched. You went off with Betty, Alice, and Veronica while everyone else either split off to find the guy or stayed to watch your house. The car ride to the Cooper house was quiet and when you pulled up on the drive you saw that Fred Andrews was waiting on his porch. He hurried around and helped you all inside.
“Archie filled me in on what’s happening. Toni and Cheryl are on their way down. From what I hear you have your own security crew.” Fred tried to give you an encouraging smile but it looked more like a pitying grimace.
“Let’s go upstairs. We can sort out the spare room for you.” Betty suggested. You nodded and you went up with her. Veronica followed close behind after kicking off her heels.
“I know it’s the smallest deal right now with everything going on but Betty. Your carpets are amazingly soft.” You all laughed and when Toni and Cheryl arrived ready to comfort you and promise defence to their dying breath they found the three of you laughing so hard that you were in tears while appreciating the softness of the Cooper carpet.

ferocious fems, the chaperone
Tumblr media
Dexter Taylor may have something here, the young ones prone to skipping any even unreasoned argument and just physically pounding at each other.
Tumblr media
Okay. So. Football, of all things, in 1949. But. The reason? They need to raise money for what they really care about, a beauty pageant! Okay, fingering that fine line between sexism and misogyny.
Tumblr media
1975. A girls' baseball team. Is that particularly crazy from this vantage point? Yes, the first blushing of Title 9 did have some women with zero interest before scholarship opportunities pulled them in -- anecdotally I know a couple woman who never picked up a stick before and for that matter ever again but now were indeed in the early 1970s woman's hockey players -- and a women's athletic culture developed from here after being squelched for quite some time. But. We are a year off from Amanda Whurlitzer as the star pitcher of The Bad News Bears. Betty Cooper herself is a good baseball player over the past two decades when the story calls for it, and not good when the story calls for that. Actually, from whence comes everyone joining a baseball team for its own sake off of the comically exaggerated amount of ignorance we will see?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The mainline Archie version has some teen boys horny to see these "dolls in action". Not a plot point that is going to be adapted to Little Archie, though I do have to wonder about Little Mr. Weatherbee here -- probably just how I assign the line in the original. Semi-cutely, Little Archie sneaks us some zap action from Little Sabrina. The one thing with this era of Little Archie is where we see a good reason a reader would view much of the material as stuck in the 1950s, the Little Sabrina slot comes in new.
Tumblr media
I have no clue what size crowd my high school's Powder Puff game drew. The only reason I know there was at least one was that I was in the same room while some of the planning took place, hearing them deciding on where to limit it to as short a time as they could get away with because -- really no one was there to see some great competition. Today you can probably scour old yearbooks to find pictures from these events to see if you can embarrass a politician making hay over a Drag Queen Story Hour.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The abstractions of money get lost in the Little Archie version, dollars traded in for sodas. Conflict of interest anyways -- what athletic association allows the umpire / referee from one of the same schools? Jughead is corruptible -- 1957's "Buck Chuck!" Is this same gag.
Tumblr media
The line on "The deuce / to heck with the ball" gets a different meaning with the Little Archie variant, an extension of their ignorance on the game as opposed to the desire to just kick the living snot out of the other girls for perceived personal gain.
Tumblr media
The "playing rough", I should note, was run of the mill baseball playing -- ball hit toward you, tagging you out. But. Either way, melee time. And after this they beat the living snot out of Reggie. The End.
