Look, the culprit is a creepy, murderous sex pest and someone like the protagonist is sure to knock a few screws lose just by being around him. Make him stalkery and an oppressive, unseen presence that the player can't tell Dojima about without being supervised 24/7. Can't save people like that. So you have to endure it. You go out on certain nights? Did those shadows just move? The player notices stuff going missing, gets weird text messages and phone calls, and those threatening letters? They're not quite so vague. Its more a detailed writing on what he wants to do to the player and will do if they don't quit saving people. It'd make the reveal so much more nauseating too. Especially if you're someone who fell for him and his mask.
