SEE: COLORADO
As a girl who loves traveling and thrives on experiencing new places, you could say I was more than excited to visit Denver, Colorado for the first time.
Allow me to give you a little more insight about this magical place.
Denver is the capital of Colorado. And Downtown Denver is beyond amazing! It has some of the best views and ultramodern activities one could ask for. It's famous for its Rocky Mountain National Park (which is not actually in Denver), being a mile high and most recently,  a huge boom in craft beer and legal marijuana, bringing plenty of tourism to the city! I had first heard about Denver from a close friend who after seeing the place had become impelled to move there. My boyfriend and I love to travel together because well, we always have the most amazing time everywhere we go. He just graduated from college and we thought a trip to Denver would be the perfect way to celebrate. So when we found out Spirit Airline tickets were only $108 each for an 8am roundtrip flight, we obviously were ecstatic. Man, were we wrong. This flight was PACKED! Before the departure, I saved about $20 buying neck pillows ahead of time at TJMax rather than waiting for the crazy airport priced ones to keep us comfortable. I fell asleep the entire ride; my boyfriend on the other hand is more on the impatient side and just wanted to arrive.
Upon arriving we got our rental car and headed into the city. A rental car is pretty necessary for Denver (the must see sights are at least a 1-3 hour drive away.) Unless you are content with staying downtown, then Uber of Lyft would suffice. Our drive gave us the time we needed to make some decisions before we got to the city.
Things I loved about DENVER:
Food trucks everywhere. Apparently on Tuesdays, across the street from the Colorado State Capitol, were at least 30 food trucks filled with variety and culture from different restaurants. This was a dream come true for us! We picked a delicious dish from a Latin American truck and headed over to the state capitol.
The state capitol is a Corinthian-style, gold-domed building offering tours, exhibits & photo ops at 1 mile above sea level (5280 ft!). After capturing the stunning outer view, my boyfriend then noticed the dome and was determined to head to the top for the collaborated city/mountain view. We headed inside, began a lengthy, boring tour and snuck away from the crowd climbing the flights of stairs to the top only to find a locked door to the dome stating guests must be accompanied by tour guide. Figures, but the little kids inside of us insisted. Is not seeing the dome view detrimental to your trip? Absolutely not! Colorado has much more to offer.

The Denver Art Museum was incomparable to any museum I have been to before. While I was expecting a quaint walk through a building filled with old, unrelatable artwork, this place was the opposite.
The good: The first thing you see when you walk in is a store. Hello, shopping! This amazing store was filled with beautiful art, Van Gogh inflatable art, handmade jewelry, toys, decor..ding ding- we have a winner!
The better: Before you even walk in the door to the first exhibit, there is a huge room for FASHION. Yes, I repeat, an art museum..with an entire part dedicated to the art of fashion. Is it just me or does this never happen at museums? The room had body mannequins and drawers filled with different designing material, labeled on the outside of each medium sized bin. And so much more but you will just have to see this place for yourself!
The best: Everything was interactive. Pieces you could walk through. Some pieces filled the entire room. In one exhibit, there was a table and chairs next to a shelf. People were sitting at the table so I glanced as I walked by to see what they were doing, they were writing in little pieces of blue paper. I then looked at the shelf where I found rows of white papers labeled at the top “I want to have a conversation about..” and behind them, the blue papers sat. There were tons of different handwritings, multiple ideas of conversation, cries for help, advice on jobs, opinions on politics. It was a beautiful thing..inspiring to see such an anonymous way of sharing thoughts.

Things I loved about OUR PLACE:
We began searching online for the perfect hotel within our budget months ago. The thing is, the hotels in Denver are pricy! My boyfriend and I do like to feel relaxed and stress free so the options that were affordable for us wouldn’t do, as far as luxury goes. We headed over to an AIRBNB where you can get $40 free travel credit for inviting a friend to the site, AND a room with a sleep number bed, smart TV, kitchen, and patio with mountain views for less than a hotel without the luxuries would have cost.
Things I didn’t love about OUR PLACE:
The company. Me being a girl who tends to act on impulse and get a little too excited booked without realizing we were actually not in an apartment. We were living in the finished basement of someone’s home! Thankfully it wasn't too bad because we had our own private entry and as much privacy as we could get anywhere else. Once we checked in, we didn’t see our hosts the entire time. The downsides came in because it did become a little weird for me hearing people above me walk around & doors closing. Funny thing is, when we checked in our host asked us specifically to do a “mindfulness practice” of closing our doors quietly. I don't know about you but when I’m on a vacation, rules and responsibilities aren’t necessarily expected in my mind.

Things I loved about COLORADO:
Rocky Mountain National Park
This was the best place I have ever been in my entire life. I’m writing this after I have already returned from my trip and I still feel on top of the world. They say you can’t buy happiness but let me tell you, I think I did. If you are someone like me who enjoys remarkable, yet spine chilling views, this is for you. A little endorphin rush never hurt anyone.
If you don’t hike, there are driving routes that allow you to drive up to the curves which give you fantastic views. Once you park, there are smaller mountains that allow hiking which is what we chose to do instead of the longer trail hiking routes for more experienced hikers. The elevation gets much higher than just one mile at these kinds of parks, so if you are visiting from a place on sea level, be prepared to find yourself tired and dehydrated even without the hiking! Time it took to drive from Denver: About 1 hour 45 minutes.
Tumblr media
On your way to RMNP, I suggest also stopping in Estes Park. A little mountain town next to Estes Lake, filled with local shops, a library and visitor center. Estes also has plenty of places to eat, but if you’re in the mood for some authentic Mexicano food, head over to La Cabana. It’s worth the 10 flights of stairs it will take you to get to the top. When you get there, sit out on the deck and enjoy some delicious fajitas with an absolutely lovely view.
After two days of 70 degree sunny weather, Denver hit us with a snowstorm. Perhaps a bit strange seeing it is almost June. But shit happens, so we headed to Boulder, skipping the two hour drive to Colorado Springs. It was a beautiful drive since the snow had stopped falling, and when we arrived I was prepared to start applying to the University of Colorado because this college town is so, so vibrant and filled with life. We drove to Pearl Street, a four block pedestrian mall in Boulder that stretched from 11th to 15th street, home to a number of street performers, iconic shops, sculptures and public art. We stopped by Flagstaff Mountain on the way back to Denver, a 7000 ft mountain you can drive up. The view of snowed out Boulder was worth the scary drive up, and we met three groups of other tourists also from Michigan at the little pitstops along the way to the top. Time it took to drive from Denver: About 40 minutes.

The food. Putting the fate of my stomach in the hands of my boyfriend for our last night out in Denver ended up being a wonderful idea. I have been truly blessed when it comes to letting him plan anything. Leave it in the hands of my boyfriend and he is sure to go above and beyond.
We arrived at The Populist and the first thing I thought was “Who’s house is this?” The restaurant itself had a very intimate vibe. It wasn’t very expansive, but the service was unreal. We had no wait, which was quite our luck considering they weren’t taking reservations and the place was utterly packed. The menu had only twenty items on it, which seemed to be my worst fear once I glanced at the small black paper with no explanation of a single dish. Just names and numbers baby. We ordered Marinated Mozzarella, Dungeness Crab Gnocchi, and Grilled Sirloin Bulgogi. Having no idea what to expect, these items were nothing less than phenomenal. The gnocchi was cooked French style, not Italian, which is probably what you are used to if you’re a seafood person. The gnocchi was not little soft dumplings but instead crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, less of an Italian flavor with no marinara sauce. The sirloin was to die for and everything was prepared “shareable.”
There probably isn’t one bad thing on the dessert menu. I’m guessing you could order the sorbet and your world would be changed. I’m not picky with my desserts. However, we wanted to try somewhere new so we headed to a bar that I don’t recall the name of, and this time around we went with the Smores Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream. It was an edible cloud and it came with a marshmallow layer of love that was meant to be dipped into the ice cream. I died.

The next morning, after forcing my boyfriend to get a hot stone pedicure with me, the nail technicians knew we were visiting and suggested we eat breakfast at a local restaurant famous for their Lobster BLT called The Revelry Kitchen. He couldn’t get this BLT out of his head, so of course we had to go! From his facial expressions I could immediately tell he was in love with his food but I decided to take another route and go with the Lobster Stuffed Baker. Two eggs, melted cheddar cheese, black bean corn salsa, whipped potatoes, and cotija in a double stuffed baked potato stuffed with lobster. 10/10 would sell my soul for this breakfast again, or shall I say, piece of art on a plate.
Colorado is ABSOLUTELY A MUST SEE, breathtaking in every way. I hope my recommendations serve you well.

New Town, Old Town, and Socialized Medicine.
Edinburgh is "uncharacteristically hot" this week. Our hostel bunk, which houses five girls, is humid into the night. I woke up looking very perfect and glamorous as I always do, just drenched in sweat this time. During the day I loved the heat. My hands, usually cracked and bloodied from the dry Montana climate, are soft. My nails and hair are growing noticeably faster since arriving in the U.K. I know Montana will welcome me back with sunshiney arms and I am so looking forward to it.
Kirsten, a rosy cheeked Scot, led us around the city all day. The streets were packed with other tourists, other versions of myself. I still managed to be annoyed by their disregard for my personal space. We visited the National Portrait Gallery and several monuments along the Royal Mile, a tourist sinkhole beginning at the Castle.

Monument for Sir Walter Scott

Grave of Tom Riddle
The gallery was in yet another lavish building, and held some of the most famous Scottish portraits.
Tumblr media
Entryway Ceiling to Portrait Gallery
The few with major historical significance were interesting to see in person, but it was mostly just rooms and rooms of huge paintings, all with eyes that followed and judged. The museum was featuring a more modern gallery that featured photography by Annie Leibovitz and stunning portraits of people like Sir Sean Connery. The most memorable gallery was a photo series by artist Graham MacIndoe, which were self portraits of his struggle with substance abuse, specifically heroin. The photos were startling for their graphic imagery, but more so for how domestic they were. Remove the needle and the hollowed eyed man, they were just photos of a shitty apartment just like one all of us have occupied at one time or another. Addiction is a risk for everyone, not just the lost or the ignorant. He documented his struggle beautifully and is thankfully clean 7 years later.
We stopped to compare sun burns and eat ice cream outside of the Edinburgh Castle. Edinburgh Castle is a dramatic medieval structure, built on the precipice of a crumbling, green cliff.

Service Dog Cemetery
We saw the Scottish Crown Jewels (not as breathtaking as the ones in London) and old holding cells for POWs (not as spooky as I would have hoped). We were hot and lounged in the sun to enjoy the view until it was time to go. We met the rest of the group at a traditional Scottish restaurant called Ghillie Dhu. They greeted us with champagne and our first course, which was a mackerel pâté type thing that was served with out meal cookie type thing. Tasty, but unusual. Alex ate a similar dish with venison. Him and I usual share food, since he has a severe nut allergy and I am allergic to everything. His has contained pistachios, and I asked the server the fastest way to the hospital. She said ambulance, but in my America mind, that was very expensive and Alex was sill breathing after all. We opted for taxi instead, and spite of my urgency, the driver took his time. Alex's speech was strained by the time we arrived, and we ran into the emergency room in a very cool, Grey's Anatomy sort of way. The nurse at the desk also did not reflect my sense of urgency and asked "do you even have hives or anythin?" She plopped him in a wheelchair in the corner and sent me to get him checked in. This was a particularly fun task for me considering I learned Alex's last name less than a week ago and knew little about him besides that. While I waited in line for the front desk, I chatted with a group of rugby players who had brought their friend in. His wrist looked like the letter Z and he was still insisting he didn't need to be there. I asked how long their wait usually was here and they looked at each other and said "we don't come here very often" and laughed. The girl in line in front of me was sweating and vomiting. Alex gave me a thumbs up meaning "I am still breathing" and I felt better. The nurse at the front desk took one look at his Oregon ID, slapped it back on the counter and said "I can't read that." I said "okay...?" and she tossed a pen my way and snapped that I should write "it" down. I than waited for the next nurse, who was marginally nicer. After entering his info, I asked how long of a wait to be seen. She said close to two hours, and I asked that in the case of him not breathing we could possibly be seen sooner? She sighed and said "I guess just keep me updated on his condition."

Parker arrived, the three of us sat and talked about the recent election of Greg Gianforte. I was as horrified as them by Montanan's ability to elect him even with an assault charge. The entire culture that elected him, as well as Trump, leaves the world a scary place unless you jump on the far right bandwagon. My pacifist mind had been haunting me all day. I acknowledge that trump's less than admirable record and Gianforte's assault charges are particularly disturbing as the atrocities were committed by them personally, while they were supposed to be acting as representatives. But as Commanded in Chief, the president has certain war powers, most historically accessed by constitutional loopholes. This means that the president may terminate human life acting as an individual military entity. He may order other American citizens to literally kill. Again, I concur that what Gianforte did is unacceptable. But shoving a reporter down is nothing compared to the thousands of lives that the president, only sometimes with the permission of Congress, has played a direct hand in terminating.
 Anyway.
Parker and I bailed Alex out of the NHS early to eat at a chicken chain called Nando's that was strangely amazing.
Edinburgh seeped all of my energy, but I fell asleep that night with dreams of  Mary, Queen of Scots, green horizons, and spicy chicken.

The Convo One Woman Has with Herself Every Time
E all have days whilst we experience insecure and uncomfortable about sure components of our body and blogger Kenzie Brenna is right here to remind you which you’re now not by myself. The frame-confidant blogger currently shared a super relatable publish approximately the collection of mind that race via her mind each time she appears at her stretch marks.
They may be now not generally this important,” she keeps. “In case you most effective had the cash to cast off them. They simply look kinda cool. Sorta like the beginning of a tale. More just like the beginning of a protracted tale. Would I erase my tale to no longer have those? You would probably be Extra cozy without them. Could I without a doubt, although?”
You likely apprehend a number of the primary few sentiments right away.
How typically have you ever requested yourself whether or not going underneath the knife/laser/syringe Could “restoration” your insecurities about something? In the end, even though, Kenzie’s mind evolve right into a verbal exchange with herself about how this so-called physical imperfection would not define her, and they’re a part of her story—in this case, her weight reduction journey.
“Does this have an effect on the pleasant of who I am? No,” she continues. “Would it make you a better man or woman if you obtain rid of those marks? No. Wouldn’t it make you kinder, Extra generous and a higher lover If you had the money to erase them? No. Then you’re ideal. I do not experience best. This is cause ideal isn’t a sense.”
The Desolate Woman – A Biblical Perspective on Rape
A massive nation in a remote land, a beloved king with a lovely daughter, and a good-looking prince who’s heir to the throne the tale has all the makings of a cute fairy story, but it’s far a horror story. The kingdom turned into Israel underneath the rule of thumb of King David and the handsome prince turned into David’s oldest son, Amnon, who just so passed off to be in love together with his half of sister, Tamar. Located in 2 Samuel thirteen, smack dab between David’s affair with Bathsheba and the rebellion of David’s sons against their father is the passage about the rape of Princess Tamar.Nathan the prophet advised David that “the sword will by no means leave your family” only some chapters in advance and observed the turmoil that could erupt in the king’s own family on account of his sin. The unraveling of The kingdom started with this rape.
All of it started out while Amnon has become lovesick over his sister, Tamar. He lamented to his cousin, Jonadab, that he could not do anything to her due to the fact she changed into a virgin. Jonadab concocted a horrible plan, which Amnon completed. Jonadab suggested Amnon feign contamination and request Tamar’s presence from the king. King David did not deny his firstborn something, so certainly Amnon’s request became granted.
Tamar, being the dutiful daughter, came to her brother’s house to prepare him a meal,
Which he refused to eat. Rather he advised all his servants to depart and then stated, “Tamar, why do not you convey the meals right here to me in my bedroom? I’m too vulnerable to eat by myself so I need your assist.” Tamar delivered the food into his bedroom. All of a sudden, Amnon grabbed Tamar and demanded that she join him in bed.
Aghast, Tamar refused his provide begging, “do not pressure me, my brother! Such a component is not achieved in Israel. don’t do this depraved factor. What about me? Wherein could I do away with my shame? And what approximately you, you will be like one of the wicked fools in Israel. Please talk to the king: he’ll now not preserve me from being married to you” (thirteen:12-thirteen, NIV.) Tamar’s plea fell on deaf ears. And because Amnon is “more potent than she”, he raped her (18:14.)
There are a few exciting things that may be pulled from Tamar’s emotional statement.
While Tamar said that such things as this aren’t executed in Israel, she spoke of the law which forbade a man to have sexual relations with his sister. (Lev. 18: 9, 11) Disgraced, she might have been both placed to loss of life for having This kind of dating or considered “unmarriageable” because she changed into no longer a virgin. But, Tamar then stated that the king could allow Amnon to marry her, which become additionally forbidden by using regulation (Lev. 20:17; Deut. 27:22.) Possibly Tamar hoped this will dissuade Amnon for the moment so she should escape or she notion David might bend the regulation for his youngsters. Whatever the motive, Tamar’s announcement became omitted.
Tamar’s plea cuts to the heart of any woman or woman who has been sexually assaulted. Please don’t do this to me; do not take this from me. but frequently due to the fact a man is more potent than a woman, he takes violently what isn’t always his to take. The girl is frequently left alone and burdened, picking up the pieces of what she thought could be a terrific existence.
Analysis of Bouguereau’s, “A Young Girl Defending Herself Against Eros”
William Bouguereau, a French-Instructional Paint, became an incredibly famous painter inside the past due 1800’s. He became born in L. A. Rochelle, France, on November 30th, 1825. As a younger guy, Bouguereau put himself thru Ecole des Beaux-Arts by using making labels for nearby grocers, and painting photos of neighborhood Parishioners. Similar to the various different artists of the nineteenth century, Bouguereau paid careful attention to his meticulous shape and approach.
The commoners cherished Bouguereau, people might typhoon the once a year Salon every year, and pay impossible prices to peer and purchase his contemporary paintings. The general public adored Bouguereau, but, according to the authentic internet site of The Getty Museum, critics did no longer experience the same way; “They derided the “bourgeois finickiness” and “contagious mediocrity” of Bouguereau’s reflect-smooth, romanticized artwork of cupids, nudes, and peasant women.” A few humans felt that Bouguereau’s painting represented the whole thing that turned into wrong with nineteenth-century Instructional artwork. The impressionist hated his work, and this form of artwork changed into precisely what they were trying to flow far from.
One in every of Bouguereau’s maximum famous works,
A younger Woman Defending Herself Towards Eros” is an astounding portray that, the instant you set eyes at the portray, the aesthetics will catch you off defend. The excellent attention to detail inside the faces of the 2 characters is what certainly attracted me to it. It’s miles mind-blowing how perfectly Bouguereau demonstrates the perfect emotions. It is an academic illustration of a lady playfully resisting cupid’s arrow, secretly wanting it, but certainly shying away from it. This will be interpreted as symbolic of how hard love is to resist at instances. Even though we don’t want to get harm by way of the arrow, we nevertheless all secretly need it. I suppose that the price he uses absolutely makes it light hearted and even form of a funny portray. The feel and area he uses additionally genuinely offer the painting its traditional Educational feel, which is straightforward while still invoking feelings.
The Blogger by James Raven Book Review
James Raven’s stalwart and astute detective Jeff Temple is back for the 5th time around inside the Blogger. A fast-paced and plot-twisting read, Raven’s most up-to-date work is a well-written and timely thriller ideal for our current age.
The world over recognized and undoubtedly arguable Net sensation Daniel Prince is no stranger to controversy
On his weblog, Humans-Energy, Prince is famous for breaking tough-hitting, and regularly politically devastating, memories that disclose scandals, corruption, and different unpleasantries that are rampant within countrywide governments. Maximum recently, a submit on his weblog prompted several excessive-rating British ministers to renounce. Needless to say, Prince has made a number of enemies. However while he is located useless outside his condo constructing one night time, all signs and symptoms point to suicide.
Jeff Temple and his group are referred to as in to research what looks as if a textbook suicide case. But one interview with Prince’s fiancé, Beth Fletcher, but, increases Temple’s suspicions. Beth is adamant that Prince wasn’t suicidal, that he had never even proven any signs and symptoms of depression. She’s satisfied that one of the infinite enemies that he had made through his blogging is guilty of foul play. And in spite of all different proof, Temple is inclined to consider Beth. Further proof in Prince’s condominium points toward homicide, as properly.
However alas, there is no loss of suspects in this case. Aside from the limitless enemies that Prince had made abroad,
There are lots of suspects at home as well. In his condo on my own, there are numerous unsavory characters. There is the sneaky condo constructing concierge George Reese, whose wallow-demeanor and entire access to the complete building makes him more than able to wearing out the deed; There may be resident Hari Basu, acknowledged for his mood and short-fuse, who had already quarreled with Prince numerous instances; the reputedly mild-mannered Mr. And Mrs. Connor, who’ve mysteriously accumulated a scrapbook of newspaper articles that mentioned Prince; and in the end the mysterious married female with whom Prince changed into supposedly having an affair at the least, this is, in step with his pal and confidante Joseph Kessel.
