on the one hand, average salary for the nwsl is higher. + clubs are not tied to a men’s team. on the other, moving continents to a league where trades and expansion drafts are a thing is a bold move, but i respect it. nwsl is, in my opinion, more competitive than the wsl and maybe even bundesliga at the moment. anyone can win, and the title race is tight. but also trades? especially the courage’s involvement in the sanchez trade rubs me the wrong way. washington got a lot of flack for that, rightfully so, but to be a participant in a trade where you know the player doesn’t want to be there is also whack

CPU Work Student Alumni Association celebrates Grand Alumni Homecoming 2020

Members of the CPU Work Student Alumni Association (from left) Mr. Cyrus Natividad, Mr. Nick Gazo , Mrs. Joy Laos  and Dr. Alberto Java.

The CPU Work Student Alumni Association, Inc. will be together again on February 4, 2020, a day before the Grand Alumni Home Homecoming 2020. The work students’ reunion will be held at the Alumni Promenade Park starting with registration at 4:00 PM. The program, dinner, and fellowship will follow after that.

Dr. Alberto Java, WSAA President in an interview acknowledged that “the reunion of work student alumni go beyond just revisiting our Alma Mater, or bonding and enjoying with former co-workers, classmates and Centralian friends.” He added, “I acknowledge the desire of our fellow alumni to be committed to continue helping the current work students in CPU.”

“Many of the CPU work students realized their dreams because of hard work,” Java said. “The testimonial part of the program will give the work students a chance to tell their stories of success, and look back to the time they went to college through the work-study program.”

The CPU Work Student Alumni Association’s Officers are doing their best to organize, coordinate and realize their grand reunion 2020.

Conociendo Rusia y un gran comienzo de año

Luego de un año que lo tuvo como una de las revelaciones de la escena argentina, el proyecto liderado por Mateo Sujatovich continúa  presentándose en todo el país.

SOBRE CONOCIENDO RUSIA:Conociendo Rusia presentó en 2018 su disco debut homónimo en el que retoma elementos de la canción clásica argentina y la lleva a dimensiones personales. Su obra desintegra los componentes elementales del linaje cancionero e incorpora una mitología personal de amores, derrotas y esperanza. Un golpe en la mesa con una mano y con la otra, fondo blanco del mejor vodka.Link a “Conociendo Rusia” en Spotify. Además del notable recibimiento de la prensa, el pasado año Conociendo Rusia compartió escenario con Emmanuel Horvilleur, Barco, Juan Ingaramo, Indios, fue parte del Festival Buena Vibra y La Nueva Generación (Córdoba).Llegó por primera vez a la ciudad de La Plata con un show en The Brothers Concert e hizo su presentación en Buenos Aires en Santos 4040 con entradas agotadas e invitados como Marilina Bertoldi y Feli Colina.

 El grupo también giró por Corrientes y Posadas en el mes de diciembre y despidió el año en el Teatro Margarita Xirgu.En Noviembre estrenó su primer videoclip “Loco en el desierto”. Realizado por Elefante Diamante, muestra la belleza y la ternura de dos escenarios distintos pero que al mismo tiempo, son piezas fundamentales del “universo ruso”. Por un lado la playa vacía como un desierto, el verano más allá de la estación. Y por otro, la amistad codo a codo, desparramada en una cancha de futbol.

STELLA RETURNS FROM HOLIDAY TO WIN THE BAYBUT’S STABLEFORD COMPETITION

On Friday 31st March Montgo golf Society played a stableford competition at Oliva Nova, kindly sponsored by Brian and Feli Baybut. The course continues to improve after a long, cold, and wet winter and the fairways are beautiful and lush, although the greens seemed a bit woolly and slower than usual.

We were fortunate to have Damian Sanchez Perez, the Caddymaster of Oliva Nova as our guest, and he also put up some prizes for any members able to beat his score on the day.

In first place was Stella Fox with 37 points off 18.5, obviously glad to be home after her recent travels. In second place, also with 37 points but losing out on countback, was Wolfgang Schuster (15.7), pushing Peter Twine in to third place with 36 points off 20.2. There were prizes for the best front nine and best back nine for players not in the main winning group, and these went to Dennis Coe (21 points)and John Feek (19 points) respectively.

Nearest the pin for ladies went to Stella Fox on the 3rd and Linda Coe on the 16th, whilst John Feek took 3rd for the men and Peter Twine won the 16th. There were three 2’s recorded, and these went to Stella Fox, Feli Baybut, and Peter Twine. Finally there were four members who beat Damian’s score of 33 points, the first three plus Patrick Lynch, and they were all recipients of sleeves of golf balls.

Our next event is on the 14th April, when we will be playing a stableford competition at Oliva Nova for the Founders Trophy, sponsored by Russ Peters.

Harrogate Fashion Week makes a great start to the next season 

11th March 2020

Harrogate Fashion Week announces next season’s dates as Sunday 26th & Monday 27th July, a great early date for the buying season.  This show has been pronounced by its exhibitors as an “increasingly important event” and the organisers are delighted with the positive response received.

Commenting on the growing show’s success, Director Sarah Moody reported: “After the January event which was our biggest show to date we are hugely encouraged that the majority have already booked for our next show in July, which we hope will be bigger and better again and include more special occasion and promwear.”

The July show has already seen many regulars sign up and give their commitment to this growing show.  Including womenswear labels Marble, Pomodoro, John Charles, Lily & Me, Alice Collins, Foil, Focus, Jessica Graaf, Oopera, Ella Boo, Dents, Gabriella Sanchez and many more.  In addition footwear brands include Capollini, Caprice, Lotus and Luna.

Additional space has been secured at the Harrogate Convention Centre to house an evening and prom section and this is already proving to be popular.

New brands have committed early and include Ravel bringing a fantastic range of footwear, Fee Gee, Eliza Jane Howell, Fely Campo, Rosa Clara all bringing occasionwear, Max & Ellie and Failsworth Millinery with a great selection of hats and fascinators, plus Pia Rossini and Magic offering great accessory choices.

The team look forward to welcoming exhibitors and visitors to the next edition which will run from 26th to 27th July at the Harrogate Convention Centre.
