Continue the story: The Devil Judge/Gahan edition

Fellow fandom folks,

We're doing a collaborative fic on A03 for The Devil Judge and Yohan/Gaon and we'd love for you to join. Here's how it works: each person writes one chapter of the story based on a topic we all voted on. You can write whatever you want in your chapter as long as it connects to chapters before it. This is a nice way to close out the third rewatch, get your creative writing juices flowing in a low-stress place, try your hand at writing if you're new, and importantly, celebrate jinyoung's impending return from the military on November 4th!! If 8 people or more join, we'll be writing until then!

Writing logistics: After everyone signs up, I’ll put our names in a random generator to pick the order of writers.

How it works:

Publishing: You’ll have 1 week to read what’s been written so far and write your chapter. Chapters are due by Thursdays at 9 AM KST. I'll post a schedule.

Word count: Minimum of 2 sentences and not more than 500 words. This is a loose word count specifically to keep it chill. Don’t stress about making your chapter perfect. The idea is to have fun, go with the flow, and write whatever comes to you!

Posting on ao3: We’ll post the fic as one story with multiple authors. I’ll help you out when it’s your turn to add your chapter.

Keeping in touch: We can use a Tumblr post to brainstorm ideas and talk story stuff, or, if enough people are interested, I can set up a discord to chat

The goal is to have a good time and see where everyone’s creativity takes them.

they say they'll take the best one out of two takes, but the fact is they have no choice but to be perfect both times. if she ends up messing up in one of them and that's the better one, then all the viewers are going to see will be her mistakes. while she knows one of them will end up in the bottom three, she doesn't wish ill upon any of her teammates. if anything, it's better to end up in the bottom three after doing your best and having a chance at escaping elimination rather than seeing one of them go. it's funny how you form a close bond so quick; it only took a week, maybe even less, and eunae already wants to see all four of them succeed. it's not that she doesn't cheer on the other teams. but it's a competition and they have to do better. no, they will do better. none of them lack charisma, all of their skills complement each other. jihyun and soohyun are the strong singers, in charge of high notes and adlibs. seolhyun and eunae are both strong dancers and can either sing or rap. in the end, eunae gets her lines figured out the quickest. she of course takes care of the rap, as well as some of park eunyoung's lines.

and this is the part that scares her. the singing.

everyone knows it's far from being her strength. it's a weakness in which she's more than lacking. she wouldn't even put her vocals as average. due to a lot of workshops and lessons, she managed to work on her tone and stability, but her range is limited and not powerful at all. let's just say she doesn't have a voice suitable for singing very long, but thanks to her stamina, she doesn't sound too bad. she just hopes it won't hinder the performance but with the few and short lines she's got, she thinks she can somewhat pull it off.

she's on her back, staring at the ceiling and waiting for their cue to start. there's only time for one deep breath before she lifts up her legs first, followed by seolhyun, jihyun and soohyun respectively, heel then sliding down their leg right before the famous leg movement that people so love to imitate (not as much as the one from bad girl good girl, but close). the trickiest part of the choreography, in her opinion, is when they need to stand up with those damned heels and not fall flat on their face, but they practiced it so much - until their feet bled - that it's almost as natural as walking now. ok, not at all.

the song isn't bubbly. it's empowering and fierce, something that's dead in her comfort zone when it comes to concepts. it's not nearly as sexy as the hush performance she did for her august evaluation, but it doesn't mean she doesn't have to look the part still. she's wearing tight leather pants so while she's stuck in those like a sausage and sweats her life away, it's almost easy to channel the slight anger necessary for the song. then she goes offstage and goodbye pants goodbye.

her singing part is shared with soohyun, which is both a relief and a worry. while she's happy they can sing back and forth and play with each other on stage, she's aware that with soohyun's talent, she's going to sound even more average after her.

.one part done, three to go, but now that she went through it once it doesn't seem all too bad. while her voice comes out slightly shaky during the 'surprised me' she catches a breath while soohyun does her next line and she sounds much more stable then. it's not too high which suits her range. she couldn't imagine herself doing any of the solo parts of the chorus and instead appreciates blending her voice with the other girls.

she doesn't have to lie down during the rap part since she's the one centering at that moment and she knows it's been a struggle for soohyun, so she crosses her fingers that everything goes well for the team's maknae. she's grown very protective of soohyun, hoping she can make it to the group because she's such a darling to work with. she was disappointed that soohyun didn't get to sing the chorus, as it would've been a good time for her to shine. still, eunae is convinced she will find a way as she always does.

eunae walks to take the center spot shortly before the end of the chorus, preparing herself for her big moment. the rap is easier than what she's done before. the lyrics aren't tricky and it's not particularly fast either. the main difficulty is the choreography and how exhausting it is. she doesn't move as much as the other during that part but there's no time to really take a deep breath before she dives in nor is there any throughout. but she's in her element and it shows, spitting out the lyrics as if the dumbest dude stood before her.

there will be no whining sound from you anymore the snake passed the wall and gently betrayed me it was quite an amazing show that i watched, even without buying a ticket i just didn’t get this spot for free, no. now it’s bye bye

she flicks her hand as the last words come out, lips stretched into a smirk and she regains her place for the rest of the song.
