Seeing how some people talk about Mythal is insane. Not to say she isn’t super sus and done a whole lot of bad things but the way people try to frame it like everything Solas has done is somehow her fault is insane. He is a grown ass man who can make his own decisions! Pretty sure I saw someone talking about the “I release you from my service” line like Mythal was somehow controlling him the whole time through elfy magic when it’s super clear that’s the shade of someone Solas cared for and feels responsible for getting killed telling him that’s it’s okay and he can stop trying to get revenge in her name. That he can finally let go of everything he has been holding onto.

It seems super obvious especially with how it mirrors the talk with Varric in the regret prison where Varric absolves Rook of the guilt they feel for his death because it was his choice to talk to Solas just as it was Mythal’s choice to talk to the Evanuris. Rook and Solas didn’t cause their deaths but that doesn’t change the fact that grief often manifests as guilt because you’re so often left with so many what ifs, so many things you wish you could have said or done and wondering if you might have been able to stop them from dying if you’d have done something different.

The reason Solas is able to finally make the right choice in the end is because of Mythal telling him that it wasn’t his fault that she died and he doesn't have to keep on his path of destruction to bring about the world he thinks Mythal wanted because he feels like that's the only way to atone for her death. Mythal and Solas made all those bad decisions together and committed some terrible wrongs and as the last man standing Solas is desperate to make it all mean something that he has blinded himself to everything else. Mythal was the only person to truly understand the weight of the guilt they both bear for their actions and so its only her that can offer him absolution for their mistakes because after all these years Solas sees everything as his own fault so Mythal acknowledging the part she played in leading him down the path they went down and telling him its okay to stop, that he doesn't have to continue walking on the path just because he feels it what she would have wanted.

Mythal and Solas are the only two people who know the true damage their mistakes have caused and while Mythal was able to accept and grow past it and appreciate the world as it is, it was Solas, Pride, who saw his only recourse was to try to make things right even at the expense of everything the world has become. Mythal offers him both apology and absolution in the end and that is what finally gets Solas to stop. Mythal is the only one that can properly understand and acknowledge the depths his grief and offer him the solace he needs to finally let go of it and begin to live not in the past but with his feet firmly planted in the present and his eyes towards the future.

You did seem appreciative of my first batch of L/Mello headcanons so I guess I'll give you a few more because I'm such a great mutual like that (is this gaslighting)

- I firmly believe Mello is a smoker or at least a drinker. Based on this idea, I bet Mello would've tried to get L to drink/smoke at least ONE time. Long story short: L damn near dies (he is NOT suited for either of those) and Mello spends the whole night trying to compensate for nearly killing his bf

- In the car they ALWAYS argue over what radio station to pick (Mello is probably a metal or rock enjoyer. L either does not like music or he prefers classical. A part of me wants to say maybe he likes some pop songs sung by women or all girl bands. OOH WHAT ABOUT L AS A SPICE GIRLS FAN). So, they either take turns with the radio station each car ride, or they just end up not playing the radio cause they can't reach a conclusion (They're both stubborn as hell).

- Mello borrows L's clothes constantly. L will have just gotten out of..his washing machine? Or the shower.. (Mello probably found the washer thing odd and just started forcing L to suck it up and take real showers. L wasn't happy but Mello is persistent), and he sees that Mello is just shamelessly doing whatever wearing L's shirt (bonus if he just ditches the pants or..anything else underneath. I feel like it'll only be so long before I border on kinky headcanons). L is mostly tolerant of this, and depending on his mood, he'll either just skulk around nude or he'll try and coax Mello into giving his clothes back (this gave me really suggestive fic ideas).

I think Mello probably smokes fancy cigars on occasion and you're definitely right in saying that L's not a smoker/drinker LOL at least not of anything more than fruity wine. <- thinking about drunk L is actually so funny. Mello's used to going shot-for-shot with Matt (who usually out-drinks him) and L's hunched over the toilet puking because he can't handle hard liquor. LOL. Mello would probably pretend to feel bad but secretly enjoy this very much.

TBH I definitely agree with you that I see L as liking classical/jazz music and I think it's DEFINITELY true that he enjoys cutie girl pop music <- he's a Misa-Misa fan, duh. But in my head this scenario is a big source of tension in their relationship even if neither of them realizes it, because Mello tends to defer to whatever L wants (in terms of stuff like music, food, etc., not everything but the more 'unimportant' things) and this isn't something that's super-suitable to Mello's headstrong/opinionated personality LOL. So he bites his tongue a lot/will just listen to whatever shit L wants to put on even if it's not what he wants to listen to -> L does not know of and/or appreciate his sacrifices (they are not sacrifices but Mello sees them that way) -> Mello harbors resentment. Etc. This can and must be rectified through nasty sex.

STOPPPP NOT THE WASHING MACHINE. L GOT BACK TO TASKFORCE ONE DAY AND THERE'S SMOKE BILLOWING FROM THE WINDOWS BECAUSE MELLO BLOWED THAT THING UPPPPP. I'm dead serious when I say that Obata was genuinely sick of us at that point and just like fuckkkk ittttttt let's see if they still want to fuck him after this (we did). BUT THAT THING DOES NOT EXIST. TO ME. Other than that this is so so so correct <- Mello is a serial clothes-stealer no matter what because none of his are comfortable, and he never wears pants at home bc otherwise he'd have permanent seam-indents down his legs. He definitelyyyyy steals L's (dirty) shirts because they smell like him also.

you're very valid, les x barry as a VERY interesting dynamic. i'm going to tread a bit more carefully bc some of these might have spoilers for the future content of the fic, but honestly most of these will hold true for them across multiple versions/aus of them (and boy do we have a lot of aus)

who’s the cuddler: out of the two of them, definitely Les, but they're both not that forward about it. most of the time Les would have to make the first move to initiate the cuddles.

who makes the bed: they both do it themselves out of habit. when they spend the night in the same bed it's usually whoever feels like doing it the next morning.

who wakes up first: Barry. he's a very light sleeper and it takes very little to wake him up. he enjoys the moments where he gets to watch Les sleep, tho.

who has the weird taste in music: Barry's taste in music does not exist. he just thinks all music is music and has zero preference whatsoever. that said he's become very fond of musicals bc he knows Les likes them.

who is more protective: they're both very ragefully protective in their owns ways, tho Les is much better at controlling his anger than Barry is. it's something Les can help Barry manage, in a way. god help anyone who decides to hurt someone they both care about...

who sings in the shower: Les. he has a surprisingly decent singing voice. Barry likes listening to it.

who cries during movies: neither, really. Les is too busy analyzing the production of the movie and Barry is not the most prone to connecting with his feelings in any capacity.

who spends the most while out shopping: Barry but like. completely on accident. he has a very skewed perception of how much things should cost and how much is too much to pay for something. finances is not really an issue when you consistently get more than enough money to get by from killing people. Les, on the other hand, grew up poor and would never spend more money than is necessary on anything, even to hire a rescue party for a group of missing actors from his production.

who kisses more roughly: Les, mostly, but Barry has his moments, too. once he's worked past the fear of doing something wrong and knowing for sure that Les wouldn't dislike it he enjoys taking the initiative.

who is more dominate: Les, definitely, but that manifests in different ways depending on what they're in the mood for. it's worth saying that Les typically doesn't like being manhandled, but Barry is maybe the one and only exception.
