Hiya! I wanted to come and ask a question about how to run a competition like this! I followed along with this competition for a while and have been very inspired to do one on my alt blog for a different fandom!

Do you have any tips for a newbie like me?

(One question i have in particular is how long should I have the sign up for up for? how do i encourage people to have their characters interact? stuff like that ig?)

Hi hello! I got some tips but reminder I myself is always learning every year while hosting these lol 👍

To answer your specific question, I’ll give it a week or two. That is unless you get a bunch of submissions within the first week or couple days, then it’s best to close submissions early. It’s really a numbers type of situation. First year I held the comp I had it open for a while, last year there were so many submissions I had to close it early.

OTHER TIPS:

PLAN LIKE CRAZY. Figure out how you want to organize your bracket. Last year was a bit hectic for this comp, and such theres a new way I’m personally going to do it. Have a specified amount of teams/places, and the top whatever out of the submissions get into the competition that way.

Have themes! Themes help give creators a starting off point for their characters to interact. Give them also a hangout spot, or just fan spots that characters can interact if wanted. I.e, the basketball court during the first comp, or the speakeasy from last years comp. Most shenanigans happen organically, so I wouldn’t push it! Sometimes I take a look at what’s happening, go “huh ok. Would be funny if i did this” and make a spot as a joke. Ideal example is the lost and found corner, I made that in like 5 minutes and people went “hell yeah.” Everything is a surprise!

Have fun. Low key, have fun with everything! It’s not a serious thing. That’s the most important part. Hope this stuff helps!

I'VE BEEN DOING PRETTY ALRIGHT!!!! >:D I've already mentioned this before BUUUT yesterday my grandma came over to do my hair after who knows how long..I think the last time she did it was when I was 12?? so it's been four years :'D and she was a little sloppy in the beginning bcz it's been so long but she got the hang of it pretty fast!

AND IT TOOK SIX. HOURS. tbh that's not that bad--if I actually went to the salon it would've taken longer :p bcz they have multiple ppl to work on ykyk but that's okay. My mom and grandma were talkin a lot about some random stuff while doing my hair like how much my grandma hates her coworker and yadyadyaydaysh and they fought abt a few stuff but got over it super fast--their relationship is just super rocky so a lot of convos they get mad at each other for something xD but it's okay 'cause I was minding my own business playing on my vita and reading tbhk >:D AND I HAD HALF A CARTON OF ICE CREAM!! IT WAS SO GOOD ABSHFBDSAHBF I WANT SOME NOW but I haven't had breakfast yet SO I GOTTA EAT THAT FIRST xD

so now my hair is thisssss black and red mixture?? It looks better than it sounds I promise BAHSBDHSAB the red isn't like neon or anything so it's fine ! It's more of a burgundy to be honest--which looks pretty good with the black! My mom picked it out bcz she wanted me to match her :3 her hair is a similar color :D only thing is I hateeeee having my hair down so that sucked to deal with while it was getting done :'D I just don't like longer hair tbh it gets in the way when I'm trying to do like.anything. and I don't like how it feels when it goes down my back--so I usually have it in either plaits or a ponytail. OOH YES AND ON MY VITA One of the games I was playing was the battle pentagraam and there were a few kyosaya moments I noticed in some stories that were suuper cute <3 !! I wish I took some screenshots!! (I think I took like.one xD I SHOULD'VE TAKEN MOREUGHHGUHGU. maybe I can still show later when I transfer them from my vita to my laptop!! :3). I also played some project diva, im@s and neptunia! :D

and now I'm watching some pmmm amvs and mmvs!! I just love watching the way people connect certain scenes or panels to song lyrics! or sometimes it's not even to the lyrics, it's just to the general feel of the song. it's so creative!

Fluff

one of each huh? i think we’re already running into a problem on the fluff genre, i don’t really have anything to recommend, i’m afraid; none of them really stand out to me personally (that aren’t aus or so), so i’d much rather talk more about my other works

Hurt / Angst

now to hop into the categories i really like talking about, hurt and angst!! :D out of anything comfort related, i think i like my period comfort scenarios for both obey me and twst. i wrote them to alleviate my own pains in a way, but it’s great to see other people getting comfort from them as well (also to all my folks who told me you felt included by the gn reader instead of a fem reader, i see you and i love you)

with the mushy gushy stuff out of the way, let’s dive into my absolute favourite genre to write ever, angst (no comfort hehe ^^); here’s the problem to not list too many fics but i’ll use my spare from not naming a fluff fic :]

long-time ramble and tag readers will know what to expect; what could’ve been is the first angst fic i really got into and could’ve easily been a series if i had thought about it at the time. while looking back on it, sure there are things i could’ve done better, but it still has a soft spot in my heart and despite the low notes, it’s the fic i got the best feedback on ever (those asks, comments and reblogs are so precious to me, you have no idea)

similarly a million miles away and the loneliest (same premise, different characters) are some of my favourites too. overall, in its entirety, i prefer the former, i think most parts in there came out very well. however, if i had to pick one part out of all eight that i would recommend, it’s xiao’s part from the loneliest, it didn’t gather as much attention as part 1 but my friends left so many amazing comments in my document and i myself love how it came out, which makes it so special to me

Selfships + OCs

while i do selfship, i hardly ever write about it on here (or much in general outside some hcs i pester some moots with); for one, i find it hard to write about, my thoughts seem to leave me the second i try to type them out. i also don’t think many people are interested in the topic anyway and i hate feeling like i’m shouting into a void (i’m trying to keep a lid on how much i babble on dash anyhow, with varying amounts of success ^^;)

i thought i read ocs on the list, so i’ll include them, as well, especially since i have a little more to say than about selfships, considering i post about some of them every now and then. dantalion and his story part have a special place in my heart, not only because he was the first oc i introduced, but also bc his part resonates with me most, i think. while not seen much of yet, i also took a liking to my twst oc cheron, i think he’s fun!! (ofc i like my other obey me ocs too but these two are ranked a little higher hshshs)

AUs

this one… might be obvious. i think we can all see the modern au coming from a mile away (perhaps even from a million miles away haha). it’s kind of the only au i have really going on but, even so, there’s a reason my inbox fills up the second i mention it. though, when i wrote that piercer! xiao fic all that time ago, the au wasn’t even a thing in my mind yet, funny how that works. it’s currently on a bit of a hiatus but it’s certainly not dead ^^;

more excitingly however, and as a treat for the people who’ve read this far into me rambling about my own writing, the aus in my drafts!! i want to work on all of them (and then work on none of them)

the oldest of the three i’m thinking about is my haikyuu isekai au. i’m 10k into the draft (plus like 2k notes) and i still think the premise and plot is super fun (i was thinking/hoping it would end up somewhere between 20k and 25k) buuut the problem is i’m currently stuck on one scene that’s just not turning out fun at all, so i’ve been neglecting it ever since ^^;

second on the list of aus that occupy my mind is my twst pokemon au!! this one is more recent but i’ve been enjoying doing world building for it + the people i’ve let read over my first draft of a intro seem to have liked it too!! i’ll have to give more intense and focused thought to brainstorming the story we’d be follow, but i get excited every time i think about it hehe

and lastly, the most recent thing i worked on, an au for barbarian bakugo and… well i won’t say anything on the identity of the reader yet. it is a little enemies to lovers and i have already planned out part 2 in my head despite not even remotely finishing part 1. it doesn’t help that the book i’m reading rn evolves the same themes and makes me think about it every time i look at it or pick it back up :]

(there’s also an au i might want to write for mermay but idk if i can finish it in time + the bakugo au weighs heavy on my mind rn hshsh)

as a last point, i’m also keeping in mind that i had an event planned!! i haven’t finalised it yet and haven’t given much thought to my own entries but maybe i can get there some day (perhaps towards the end of the year?) ^^

RP PET PEEVES / DEALBREAKERS : I am a pretty open person, it take quite a bit to make me mad. Hell, I love angry or antagonistic anons in my ask box. Insult away Hehe. But I don't like it when people try to jumps strait into a sexual relationship with my muse. Unless 1) we have plotted it, 2) Its a ship that I am in love with, or 3) We have already written nsfw with out muses before. Other then that its a no go. My muse will react negatively to that and it could kill any chemistry that could have happened. I do not like that and that's why my rule say slow burn.

MUSE PREFERENCES: I don't have a preference. I will rp with anyone, even non rp accounts. Who doesn't want to talk with their favorite character as themselves sometimes? My muses will answer if asked, if you don't say who you are asking then Rimuru will be the one to respond.

PLOTS OR MEMES : I don't really mind any of the ones sent to me. Excluding smut related ones unless we have communicated prior. I like longer threads though. One or two liners are okay sometimes but I don't have much to work with so they tend to die out quick for me or seem forced. With longer Rp's I will write more and at least try to match your length. If for what ever reason you need me to re-write feel free to ask and I will.

I like the darker based stuff the most. Torture my muse or character death within reason. I like to rp that.

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES : Long please. I will do short replies but be warned that I might drop or completely for get about short replies. As far as rp's go at least. Unless you want to have to remind me multipole times that I owe you a response.

BEST TIME TO WRITE : Anytime, though you might have to wait for a response my RL can get super busy sometimes. It may sometimes take a week or two, but I still try not to make someone wait that long. I feel guilty and stressed when I do.

at first, lucifer hadn’t trusted you in the slightest. sure, he’d technically been the one to choose you as the new applicant, but he hadn’t actually looked at your application, something that was definitely coming back to bite him.

at least you weren’t part of the coven that mammon was entangled in, he had thought to himself, trying to look on the bright side, dim as it was.

slowly though, you grew on him. though some of your pursuits had ended poorly, like when you’d accidentally burned off your eyebrows making a potion, or had a spell go wrong and made everyone in rad only able to tell the truth, he began to feel more amused by them than irritated, a sure sign you were endearing yourself to him.

and some of your skills were quite helpful, he had to admit. when belphie had gotten sick with some form of rare illness, you’d saved the day by cooking up a remedy when even simeon and solomon were unable to. and some of your teas and herb mixtures were useful, not to mention delicious.

now, lucifer mused, he was completely head over heels for you. sure, there were still things that you did that gone on his nerves, or thins you said that he didn’t fully agree with, but you truly were one of a kind and now incredibly important to him. plus, your sense of humor was amusing, even if he’d never admit it.

(for halloween you’d decided to dress up as a classic witch, complete with a black hat and broomstick. somehow, he’d been convinced to join you as a vampire, and diavolo had been a werewolf. it was silly and lowbrow, but he had one of the pictures saved as his phone background.)

“what are you thinking so hard about?” you ask him, drawing him back to the present. a grimoire is open in front of you, and he can see your chicken-scratch handwriting in the margins.

EXTRA: OKAY SO- First of  all, despite not actually knowing about Scara´s story (I am only aware of his personality but i haven´t read his story yet- but i really gotta bc he´s really cool! 😳) I love your portrayal of Scara ! I have seen some scenes with him and your dialogues for him are cheff kiss + reading your replies is always very funny to me ! (APOLOGIES FOR THIS ORANGE MENACE BTW!) Now having that said and moving onto interactions;; the fact that he is as well a harbinger and that as far as i know, he hasn´t interacted directly with Childe yet, leaves a lot of posibilities for interactions !! From Childe´s side, meeting a fellow harbinger is always an exciting matter to him because he is aware that said person is not just anyone you can find commonly on the street, nor is anyone of common strenght, and that´s what really sparkles his interest;; what sort of power could these individuals harbour? it´s that fighting spirit of his that is always constantly seeking to face against powerful individuals, and Scara is certainly not the exception. 

In a more lighthearted note, despite the fact that he is prone to poking fun at him simply because he finds his reactions amusing (he reminds him of a grumpy cat sometimes) he simultaneously holds a big sense of respect towards him ! He is aware that the position of Harbinger is not just so casually given to anyone, and he has no doubt that Scara is a powerful individual. On the other hand it is perhaps just how different they are what draws Childe more interested in getting to know him and sticking around his side;; compared to him (and feel free to correct me) Scara seems more composed in certain aspects?? compared to Childe that is very straightforward and reckless, and i feel like perhaps this difference is what could bring them to bump heads if they were to ever team up;; not precisely in a bad way as Childe is a pretty light hearted individual and he would find the conflict more entertaining than troublesome. This all leads me to think that tropes of co-worker, allies, partner in crime, business partners, enemies, first meeting, etc;; could take place. 

As for the other ones, i can see rivals very strongy from Childe´s perspective; rivals in the sense of strenght;; (so be prepared to have him tugging at his sleeves asking him to spar with him RIP). Enemies would come into play if something VERY big happened;; yet Childe is not a resentful person (finally a good trait smh 😔 ) so it would still not be a very tense relationship either? 

When it comes to friendship, Childe could use to befriend someone that can help him stay grounded in moments where he becomes overly reckless, not to mention i feel like it would be a funny dynamic because of precisely how different they are sjdfbds. First meeting! i feel like it would be a very bumpy road at the start bc again, they are so different, but Childe doesn´t give up easily (oh! another good trait!) so he is sticking to his side like a little puppy regardless; and lastly; unrequited love, i will speak from my muse of course; if it happened, i feel like it would come from Childe; product of perhaps a mix of apreciation, respect and feeling comfort that someone could stop him when things go quickly wrong, but again; that´s an speculation because i don´t know if Scaramouche would care about him (not my muse hehe) so yeah!! if that ever happened, he will have to deal with his very stupid flirting, -100/100 not recommended btw.

Secondly, I am happy to make you smile even just with a simple ask 💖 and thank you for being so kind and sweet 😊 I usually send asks to authors and send them my feedback especially feelings with what they are writing or probably what I am currently reading from my fics and I tell you, I don't think I'm a warm person? 🙈 I tend to send asks sounding super happy, sad, frustrated and even angry whatever emotion I feel after reading a fic or an updatelol. I think some who receives my asks/messages tend to get the vibes or mood I'm currently in but I try my best to send messages kindly and respectfully since I don't want to hurt someone through my words. I was just scrolling through my feed thar I saw the First Love, Last Love and I scrolled past it like multiple times since I'm not into idol aus but I kinda read a part/chapter you shared then eventually decided to start from chapter 1 and I was hooked so I resulted to asking you for recommendations because you're the reason I saw and read FLFL. And I realized that it was a nice change of genre (pace?) than what I usually read so thank you so so much!

Yeah, I was about to share around 4 to 5 fics but the more I look at my reblogs I kept adding this or that because I thought “wait Navy is good, it’s a must read.” “Oh wait I should include this fic” So there. 😁

Someone said it’s so organized but it felt messy to me.  I just pulled from my blogs and posted everything so I feel like I should fix it (I will organize per member). I’d like to eventually just put a catalog with links that’ll lead to reblogs because I think seeing the reblogs is a good teaser to start reading (like in your case you kept seeing FLFL on your dash and the summary, the banner, other details probably hooked you in ). But lists are also good because when you google tropes/AUs, lists usually pop up versus the fic itself. So either way, they have purpose.

Second, I think it’s nice that you actually put in effort to communicate with authors! I just try to reblog or comment sometimes but I hope others get to see the fics and get inspired to read or try them. I think your tone is still warm but I guess we have moods too, right? But it’s great you are putting in effort to engage. I think authors will appreciate that. 

Third, No I don’t write! hahaha I wish I could. But I read more than write. I could probably tell a story but writing it is different. I get what you mean that blogs can be overwhelming. Even I get overwhelmed realizing I was actually reading a lot of fics. I guess I don’t notice it anymore I just read then reblog, read then reblog 🤭. The lists help me organize everything but it’s just meant to be a reference... in case someone needs it (even I refer to it from time to time) 

I think AUs are layered too. Like I don’t like IDOL AUs but I would read if other themes are included (like there’s fake dating or bodyguard, etc). So even if I don’t read Sports AUs, there are probably a hundred of them I’ve read because I was more focused on the other tropes (like unrequited love or something else)

                                                    The familiar rain of Westminster greeted J.R. when she arrived in London.

Ah, here’s the gloomy ambiance of Merry Old London. She thought to herself as the soft pour of the rain patted against the clear windows of Heathrow.

She was met by Mr. Poe, Martin’s chauffeur. As they drove away from the airport, he asked J.R. if she wanted to return to her flat.

But she shook her head, “Please, take me to St. Matthew’s first.”

“The cemetery or the church?”

Before answering, J.R. took out the tin box from her bag, then, “The cemetery.”

On the way, she asked Poe, “Mr. Poe, do you have motor oil or anything that can burn?”

Mr. Poe suddenly took a quick look-back at J.R. “What for, Ms. J.R.?”

“Just give me what I need. You’ll see when we get there.”

Poe could only nod in reply and say nothing about what she had just asked.

After a few miles from the airport, they made a turn that leads to St. Matthew’s They passed by the church and the end of the road lead them to the graveyard.

Their car stopped by a curb, and there, J.R. got down from it.  But as soon as she came out, the rain started to pour steadily again.

“Ms. J.R., let me get you an umbrella.” Mr. Poe said to J.R. as he got out of the driver’s seat and to J.R.

J.R. took the umbrella and she started walking down the graveyard.

The dewy grasses touched the soles of her shoes, while the soft rain trickled into her umbrella. She was told that Nathan’s grave was at the farther side of the park, with a tombstone engraved in black marble.

Her eyes immediately saw it as she approached that side of the graveyard, but with her heart thumping loudly on her chest. It was as if she’s meeting him for the first time from a very long absence.

J.R. felt her hands shake as she held the tin box, but when she reached Nathan’s tombstone; all of her tensed emotions, diffused.

The tombstone said,

Nathaniel Edward Henderson September 9, 1984-August 22, 2014. A beloved son and brother. A love lost.

The last part of his epitaph made her lips quiver as she broke out into tears. J.R. felt her knees being pulled down on to his grave.

“Babe. My Nathan. I’m here.” Her voice came out like a faint cry in the midst of the rain.

Then she placed the tin box on the trimmed grass that grew on his graveyard. The longer she stared at his name, the more the memories are coming back at her.  She felt worse when she couldn’t remember anything, but now all of it are coming back to her; it’s like she’s reliving her bad dreams all over again.

But, J.R. took a deep breath and closed her eyes for a while. And there, she is ready.

“You had a letter written for me. That’s so you, Nathan. Expressing yourself through words.” She tried to joke even though her tears are falling faster than the raindrops.

She wiped them off with her sleeve then straightened herself up, “Anyways– You told me that I move on. You even said that to love someone else– and also to forget about you… I can’t forget about you. I will always remember you.”

She now placed the tin box on the grass and said, “But, I will make a promise to you– I’ll move on. Still, I will never, ever forget again my memories with you. I promise, Nathan.”

J.R. laid down her umbrella to the side until she felt the rain come down on her, then she opened the tin box. And with all of her strength, she poured the flammable oil that she asked from Mr. Poe at the things inside the box.

Goodbye, Mr. Henderson. She thought.

Then, she set the contents of the box on fire.

J.R. closed her eyes and faced the skies. The rain fell on her face and on her body and she felt, free.

She may have destroyed all of the things that connects her with Nathan; but it is the only way to set herself free.  After a while, Mr. Poe saw her drenched in the rain and the box burning. And so he ran up to her and gave her his jacket.

“Ms. J.R., whatever you are doing--if that’s some kind of ritual or what.” Poe exclaimed.

J.R. slowly smiled, then, “I am done. Take me back to my flat, please. I’ll meet with my brother tomorrow.”

Poe only nodded in reply and he took her in with the umbrella.

Finally, there is nothing that holds J.R. back anymore.

A few days after…

He grunted as he frustratingly rearranged the bills inside the overflowing luggage.

Tom placed the money back that he had taken from Martin’s payment, and he made sure that it’s all complete and taken back.

Then after a while, he heard his room door swing by with Ajay leaning on at the doorway.

“I thought you had a customer up here with all of your grunting and sighing.” He sarcastically remarked.

A few seconds later, Rosa ran into the room; only to position herself on top of the luggage and started purring and blinking at Tom.

“Come on, you fur-ball, get down from there.” Tom irritatingly sighed.

“Maybe Rosa wants the cash for herself.” Ajay joked.

Tom didn’t even gave a snicker to his joke and only scooped up his cat and place her down on the floor.

“Why are you even taking that back to Sir McLeod anyway?” He asked Tom.

Finally, Tom got to zip the luggage up that fitted well with no sign that it’s about to pop.

“Because, my good friend– I don’t deserve this money.” Tom replied.

“What?” Ajay blurted out.

Tom turned towards him and answered, “I don’t deserve any cent from that. J.R. regained her memories when she crashed her car. I didn’t do anything.”

“Ooh, don’t be too harsh on yourself, man.” Ajay then flopped down on Tom’s large bean bag.

Tom only shrugged then he placed down the luggage. “And besides, I should forget about her. I should live on with my life. She must be moving on now too.” he sat on edge of his bed and Rosa then climbed on to his lap for a scratching behind the ears.

“I think you’re the one who needs to have an Amnesia right now.” Ajay teased, and Tom retaliated with a thrown pillow.

“But why? Why do you have to forget about J.R.? I mean, you like her, don’t you?” Ajay asked.

Tom laid back on his bed and inhaled sharply.

“I just don’t like her, mate; I love her.”

Ajay’s eyes widened and the both of them were quiet for a while. Tom closed his eyes, then he heard Ajay say, “Then go for her. Tell her the truth.”

Tom sat up, “Do you think it’s that easy? Jay, she told me to stay away.”

“After her incident. Come on, Tom, she was confused that time. If you tell her what you really feel, then maybe she’ll tell you that she feels the same way.”

Tom brows furrowed, “How did you became so expert about relationships?”

“Bailey and I talk out our feelings.” Ajay explained, then Rosa now went to him to be cuddled.

“Oh.” Tom only nodded.

Tom’s gaze fell again on the luggage, “I’ll bring that over to Martin’s office this tomorrow morning.”

“Good luck, man.” Ajay only winked at him.

Tom only went quiet as he thought about what Ajay said. If only it was that easy; to tell J.R. what he really feels.

But how could he when he knows that J.R. is in the process of moving on? How could Tom be able to do it?

“Just right up the corner, mate.” Tom instructed the Uber driver on where to pull out. He paid his fare before getting out of the car, and along with the heavy luggage loaded with money.

And there in front of him stood the skyscraper of Renovis. Tom still remember that almost a few months ago when Martin hired him. And he could perfectly remember the first time he saw J.R.’s picture.

When he entered the reception hall, he was greeted by the same woman, but this time, he isn’t accompanied by Mason and McCord.

Tom gave an ID in exchange for a visitor’s ID, then, the woman noticed his luggage.

“You’re not carrying a person inside that, are you, luv?” She quipped.

“Nope. Just something important.” Tom replied sweetly.

This made the woman giggle and her kinky hair shake, “All right. Sir McLeod’s office is at the 20th. Off you go, then.”

“Thanks very much.” Tom replied with a nod.

He made his way into the elevator and pushed the button that said 20th. On the way, the elevator stopped at 11th, and a group of people came in. Then, he noticed someone that stood at the front

He held his breath as he recognized that back of that head; it must be J.R.

Is that her? Is it J.R.? He asked himself.

Only to see that it was not J.R. at all; just another woman who had the same hair as J.R. does.

But if only he could know, J.R. doesn’t wear her hair down anymore like she used to as she is now the O.I.C. and soon to be Department Head of the Human Resource.

And meanwhile, at the 19th floor, J.R. had just arrived. As she walked into the front lobby and into the hallway of cubicles; her assistants are already in place to greet her for the morning.

“Janice, how are the memos coming up?” J.R. asked as she and her assistants followed her towards her office.

“Already printed and ready for your signature, Ma'am.” Janice replied.

“Bertie, have you told Mrs. Purefoy about the new format of the employee evaluation forms?” She now turned to the bespectacled man with a moustache that is walking beside her.

“It’s all done, Ma'am. Mrs. Purefoy already has a copy.” He then checked something out of his notes.

Then, a woman, just as tall as J.R., almost ran into her but stopped just exactly at the right moment to hand J.R. a cup of coffee.

“Ma'am. Espresso with no sugar.” Natalie offered.

J.R. took it quickly and had a sip, and she narrowed her eyes at Natalie after.

“This is so damn good, Natalie.” J.R. had a cheerful tone that lifted Natalie’s spirits up.

“I’m glad that you liked it, Ma'am.” She replied giddily.

When they arrived at the door of her office she quickly turned as she remembered something,

“By the way, has my brother arrived?” She asked the three of them.

But before they could answer, J.R. said, “On second thought, I’ll just check on him later, myself.” And she closed the door with a smile at them.

Bertie exhaled deeply, “Well, let’s get to work. Chop, chop, ladies.”

Tom carried the luggage so it wouldn’t drag on at the carpet-covered floor of the 20th. When he approached the table of Martin’s secretary, she greeted him,

“I know you– Mr. Hiddleston. What brings you here?” Her puffy eyes lit up when they met glances.

“Hi there, uhm, Ms. Davenport. Is Sir McLeod in?” Tom asked courteously.

She shook her head then, “He’s still with a investors’ meeting at the 30th. But he’ll be back at 12, would you like to wait for him?”

Tom gestured with his hands and said, “Oh no! It’s better that he doesn’t see me at all. Anyways, I’m giving him back the payment he gave me– for my services.” And he tapped the luggage.

“All of it? But, Sir McLeod already took that from his personal account–”

“But I don’t need it, Ms. Davenport. I’m giving it back.” Tom insisted.

But Ms. Davenport asked again, “But why?”

Tom sighed and looked away, “I don’t deserve this money. I did it in the first place not because of the money; I did it for J.R.”

They went quiet for a while. But Tom wanted his visit to be quick and so, “I’ll be going now. Please tell Martin I said Hi.” And then, he turned his back on the secretary and headed for the elevator door.

The moment he went down, Tom would never realize who has come up from the 19th through the stairs; it was J.R..

She headed directly at Martin’s office when she saw Ms. Davenport dragging a large luggage inside.

“Whatever is that, Ms. Davenport?” She pointed out at the luggage.

“It’s a returned payment for Sir McLeod.” Then she huffed as she tugged on the handle of the luggage.

“From whom?” J.R. asked, and she sounded confused.

“Mr. Hiddleston–” And Ms.Davenport took the luggage behind the doorway of Martin’s office.

“Tom? Tom Hiddleston?” J.R. inquired curiously.

“Yes. That escort your brother hired. He said that he doesn’t deserve the payment and that he did his job because of you.”

For a while, J.R. felt her heart stop. She asked herself, why would someone like him say such things? That he did it because of her? She felt a warm feeling in her chest that she tried to dismiss.  

J.R. cleared her throat “I’ll be going now. Please just inform me if Kuya has arrived.”

“Will do, Ms. J.R..”

She continued walking down the stairs but she felt dazed. She kept asking herself why would Tom return such a great amount. J.R. suddenly questioned herself; does it mean that she meant something far greater to Tom than she could know? Did Tom fell in love with her, truly?

J.R. tried to shake away those thoughts but she only found herself pondering as she leaned her back flat on the wall.

She wondered, maybe Tom was just being kind. But there is an another side in her telling her that Tom is being more than kind to give back all the money.

Don’t be stupid. He’s an escort. They’re not supposed to fall in love with their clients. She explained to herself. Her mind may accept that answer, but her heart does not.

At the ground floor, Tom is now contemplating on what he would say to Ajay that he never got the chance to talk to J.R. But even if he did, Tom would only lose it and tell J.R. that he loves her right there and then.

It's most likely I would do just that. But I don’t want to embarrass myself either.

Tom could only shake his head and chuckle to himself. As he is about to pass by the reception hall, he saw something along a table, surrounded by two couches.

It was a thick ream of small flyers that had something written on it that caught his attention. The flyer is crafted with the words Job Fair.

Tom went over the table to pick up the flyer. His eyes searched for something that he felt like he wanted to see. What he only read from the start to finish are the companies that are going to participate; still sponsored by Renovis. Tom was about to put down the flyer until he saw something that surprised him.

Opening remarks to be spoken by the new HR Department Head, Ms. Julie Rose Trillo.

Tom’s whole body froze as he tried to read that over and over again.

J.R. will be there. She will be there… And I need to see her.

He immediately placed the flyer on his pocket, and paused for a while before leaving. But he went on his way; with a bright smile on his face as he left the building. He knows that he will see J.R. again, and that he will make it happen no matter what.
