Soren is one of my favorite characters of all time (and tied w/ Dimi for my fav FE character) because he’s like. Really really funny if you think about it. This prince of two nations with draconic heritage and a tragic backstory isn’t only not the main character, but also you can go through the whole of Tellius learning very little about him if you so choose. HE doesn’t even really give a shit about where he came from he just wants to be w/ Ike. I feel like in any other FE game and most JRPGs in general his backstory would graduate him to significant plot point at least but Tellius is so based that it’s like nah. Like don’t get me wrong Soren is super important to understanding parts of the story (Why Rajaion ended up in Ashnard’s clutches, the whole branded debacle, Almedha’s *actual child*) but he’s never the focus. I just think that’s awesome. Of course it means like a bunch of people have some terrible takes but I guess that’s the price for having a rly cool character. I love Soren he’s so epic. He’s even gay

"You're the one they speak of in whispers... The lion king's shadow," Ashnard sneered from atop his mount, "What are you doing so far from your body, shadow? Am I so terrible that your king hides in fear?"

It was an obvious taunt meant to get a rise out of Giffca, though his expression remained as placid as Ashnard's wasn't.

"He has a message for you, actually," Giffca said as he pulled out an envelope and tossed it up to the mad king, "We felt it was better if you heard it directly from him."

Ashnard's eyes narrowed as he caught the envelope, but he made a show of averting his gaze from Giffca to open it using Gurgurant, as if to taunt him by giving him the initiative to attack, as if the first strike wouldn't matter.

Inside the envelope was a folded piece of paper, which when unfolded revealed an deeply detailed image painted by someone who surely was a master artisan. It seemed the king of Gallia wasted no expense in having it made, and using such an expensive painting for a mere message itself was a message for Daein's king.

It looked something like this:

"You little-!"

The veins in Ashnard's face somehow bulged out even further as rage consumed him, though in terms of reactions to that painting, Giffca would place it somewhere between the second and the third time he had to deliver it to Dheginsea; high in raw emotion, though severely weak in articulation.

Giffca sighed as he re-equipped his Laguz Band.

It would still be a chore to deal with Ashnard, but he considered himself lucky that this time, at least, he had his choice in how he chose to pacify the recipient.

Titania's perception and compassion have extended to any and all who have come into the Greil Mercenaries' care - be it those they have helped, or those they have employed. Her kindness is easy and calming, and proves to be a true light in the dark that comes with the loss of their founding commander. With the family she's found working their way through his loss and into a war, it's all she can do to maintain what's left.

hi. i missed something incredibly obvious while making this post: every beast laguz in path of radiance shares their markings with other members of the same class and even though caineghis isn't playable, he still uses those markings in one of the prerendered cutscenes (and in concept art) so it's not like they switched them around between games or anything. there's still some weird stuff going on with his models, but the markings (and just the markings) are consistent with how other characters in fe9 are treated.

Today's episode of I Might Actually Turn Into the Joker for Real This Time is brought to you by Giffca having the same marking on his body in fe9 as Caineghis does in fe10. Also for some reason he's wearing the clasp Caineghis uses to wear his mantle (compare the far right part of the textures on the bottom row) (on both models, this particular piece of geometry appears around their neck).

Our only point of reference for what the markings should be is the artbooks (which are curated after the fact and as such do not necessarily convey the intent on PoR's release), where there's concept art of both Giffca's and Caineghis' markings and they correspond 1:1 to their RD textures. Off the top of my head, this could mean several possible things:

Giffca's PoR textures are an error and he was always meant to have his RD textures

Giffca's (transformed) design was intentionally changed between fe9 and fe10.

Between fe9 and fe10 they realized they wanted to use those markings for Caineghis instead, and changed Giffca to accommodate that, possibly not expecting anyone to notice.

Caineghis was meant to be playable in PoR instead of Giffca. Giffca was changed to be Gallia's Gotoh late in development, and they didn't have time to create/design completely new textures and either deliberately repurposed Caineghis' or forgot to change the markings in the rush to finish the game. (Caineghis has unused bases/growths and a map model in PoR, which could also be a result of this)

I originally started this Ike painting last year, but after a certain point I was absolutely stumped on what to do for the background. Ike taking up a good portion of the canvas didn’t help.

My sister and I were finally able to get our hands on a copy of Path of Radiance near the end of 2023, and it helped me finally get an idea for his background. So now the painting looks like Ike going back to reflect on some of his memories from when his journey first started.

Fire Emblem fandom please help me out is there any fanart of Elincia piggyback on Ike??? I had a dream where this was how Ike transported her whenever they were moving to a new location and they both looked so gleeful and delighted it was wonderful
