Ok I have been pretty silent lately but I saw this wonderful news that I was nominated for Best Canon Divergence in @feudalconnection , which of course I am blown away.

So I am gonna share my rambling thoughts here

Like my beast of 13 chapters is actually recognised by the Inuyasha fanfic community as very good is very emotional for me as a whole....well I have a bad case of feeling inferior due to some traumatic experiences in film school and of course coming out from shelving an Original fantasy story that I nearly spend my 20′s writing it, only crumbling down to the pandemic, You go Whenever you Go is the spark to figure who I am and what things I can do and cannot do.

It all simply start with a thought of Toga and Kirinmaru’s friendship, with me being dissatisfied over how Yashahime did the writing and why they disintegrated over the years, and it rolled into many many aspects which is the beauty and ugliness of life, and the inevitable change. And the few scenes I wrote for this story at my Paternal grandmother’s wake, become my distraction to the grief I held, and of course it mirrored back to real life, where strangely I have that same fall-out recently with people I love so dearly like Kirinmaru and Toga.

To some extent, I am the Kirinmaru in the story- wanting to control things but inevitably fell into the darkness, I am the Riku in the story where I am searching for my voice. I am the Toga who finally have a shot in life, only to sacrificed it to the future. I am the Zero wanting to grasp it by the heart.

So a while back, I watched Lawrence of Arabia on the big screen (It was a formative film for me in my college years and my adult life, and I tell you I nearly got emotional over it), and one of the thoughts I came in my brain after watching it was “like Kirinmaru's arc is ripe for David Lean drama.........I would have enjoyed it”, and I have that thought back again, subconsciously I actually wrote Kirinmaru’s character journey like David Lean’s films about the rise and fall of a great character...even the scenes in Arabia and Kirinmaru’s huge nervous breakdown is inspired by my love for Lawrence of Arabia.

That yes, it is possible to do big stories with strong characters-following their journeys. And finding the Inuyasha fanfic community is probably the best booster for me especially @fawn-eyed-girl​ who has been cheering for me to just tell that story- even when I am down.

Perhaps I am changed by it, and though it was not the most popular, it is still a story to tell.

So thank you whoever nominated me for this story...I am so glad to share this to the world as a whole 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

I would love to tell you more stories like that to you, quoting that formative film “Truly, for some men nothing is written unless they write it.”
