Teaching Children About Community Access
Using age-appropriate materials and discussion points, teachers can teach children about community resources and helpers. This will give them a sense of belonging and safety in a time of crisis.
This study tests three models to examine whether reported access is influenced by community variables: a model that includes Anderson’s individual-level need, enabling and predisposing variable; a model that adds health care sector variables; and a model that adds general community social capital.
Faith-Based Organizations
Faith-based organizations (FBOs) represent a huge segment of the nonprofit sector. They are a source of community access for a wide variety of services, including food pantries, child care programs and job training. They also provide counseling for criminal offenders and offer a sanctuary to victims of domestic violence.
Some FBOs are social ministry arms of specific denominations or religions, such as Catholic Charities, United Methodist Committee on Relief and ICNA Relief. Others may simply have a religious influence on their work, but they are not required to share the faith of their participants.
Grassroots FBCO organizations organize and mobilize community residents around issues of poverty, education and affordable housing. Using religion as a moral framework, they emphasize the importance of helping those in need and the moral obligation to do so. They often build strong networks of participation among local houses of worship, ethnic and racial groups, and classes of people within the community.
Nonprofit Organizations
A nonprofit organization or not-for-profit is a legal entity created and operated for a social benefit, rather than for the private gain of its members. Such entities are able to solicit and receive donations and to engage in business activities. However, they must disclose their financial information to the public and cannot divert funds for personal use or benefit.
Some examples of nonprofit organizations include religious groups, chambers of commerce, labor unions and disaster relief operations. The mission statements of these organizations are typically tied to a specific social cause like promoting education, encouraging community activism or providing aid to the poor.
A successful nonprofit organization must have a clearly defined niche and a marketing strategy that identifies its potential clients. In addition, it must have a solid business plan that explains how the nonprofit will generate funds, what its operating costs will be and how the money it receives will be used. Nonprofits must also pay employment taxes and comply with state workplace laws.
Public Schools
Public schools, also called state or municipal schools, are education institutions that offer access to all students free of charge and are funded in whole or part by taxpayers. They are governed by three levels of government: the federal Department of EducationExternal link, state departments of education and school districts at the local level. In the hands of educators, these schools can become community access venues that promote their own visions of social change, regardless of the broader public's beliefs. This state of affairs has been endorsed by educational theorists like George Counts, Paulo Freire and Henry Giroux. They assert that teachers have an obligation to use their classrooms for the public good.
Community Organizations
Community organizations include volunteer groups, social-service agencies, churches, fraternities and clubs. These groups may use the skills of community organizing to pressure established power structures for change. They also may develop alternative systems outside of these structures to promote community access. Community-organizing strategies may include inclusive networking, interpersonal organizing, nonviolent communication, listening, reflexivity and cooperative action.
These groups can provide a good vantage point from which to observe local practices and beliefs. They can document changes as they occur and forward these reports to government and private organizations that may be able to address these issues. This may help to facilitate community access for marginalized groups.
Some communities of practice are sponsored by their respective organizations and receive funding to conduct community-based activities. These communities have formal support teams that coordinate community conferences, knowledge fairs and library services. They also respond to members' queries and keep them up-to-date on information from external sources. This enables them to better identify health-related issues and develop community-based programs that will improve health access.

@thunderbirdpatronus liked your post “Like this (reblog if a sideblog) for a spoilery AF starter later...”
Queenie had been rather distraught at finding out Tina was not in Paris on official business. MACUSA had always been so strict about that sort of thing. Why had Tina come to Paris then? Surely she’d have at least gone to England.
As she stumbled along the road, she was lost. Muttering a little to herself over and over, mostly Tina’s name. And then a man approached her, hearing her. Asking if she knew Tina. And she nodded. Saying it was very important she find her. She had something important to tell her. And he took her to Tina. And locked them in a cell together.
“When you said you were going to Paris, this isn’t what I thought you meant,” she said. Of course, Queenie currently looked far from the sister she’d been once upon a time. Disheveled and hair ragged. Eyes red with tears.

Website Proposal
I am going to create a website for a fake company called Free Bunny Co. (FBCo). FBCo is a small make-up company — they’re products are all-natural, vegan, GMO-free and, most importantly, not tested on animals.
FBCo’s website will feature information about the ingredients its product creators use and the products it sells. All images of the ingredients and products on this website will be created in Adobe Illustrator.
I want the website to convey the small, friendly nature of this mythical company as well as their emphasis on cruelty-free beauty. I think the illustrations, as opposed to professional photos, will help to convey these details.
